Wireless Charging Orb - Nexus 5 Accessories

Does anyone know if the Nexus 5 sticks to the wireless charging orb? My N5 arrives on Tuesday and was wondering if my two orbs will be going to waste.

While my Nexus 5 has yet to arrive, my Nexus 7 (2013) has a similar material on its back as the 5 and it sticks like glue (much better than the Nexus 4 in fact).

Same. I don't see it being a problem. I've tested with a Nexus 4, Nexus 7, HTC One, Galaxy S4, Note 2, iPhone 5 and they all stick. Like the above poster said though, the best comparison will be with the Nexus 7 (similar material) and my Nexus 7 sticks to it fine

I can confirm my Nexus 5 sticks to the Nexus 4 wireless orb, it charges quickly too
I am glad i don't have to spend money on another wireless charger yay!!!

Galaxy Note Desktop Dock work with the Nexus?

Found some docks on Amazon for the Galaxy Note and just wondering if anyone else has seen these or if people think they'll work with the Nexus.
This one looks like it charges in portrait and can also hold the phone in landscape, and has a spare battery charger but probably won't work on the Nexus. It's hard to tell if the Nexus would fit this.
This one looks basic enough where the Nexus should fit even with a case.
Ended up buying this one and it came in today. Haven't played with it much but it will work. There is enough spacing for the Nexus even with a case (diztronic). However the plug is a little short and will only fully connect with the case off. Since the platform is flat there isn't the best stability being the Nexus bottom is rounded. I'm gonna try to put a little curve to the platform so I can keep the case on and hopefully give it better stability.
I think its just disgusting that the Galaxy Nexus has been out for almost 4 months now, and the Galaxy Note, which has been out for about a month or two, already has an official Samsung dock as well as multiple third party docks as well. OMFG >.>
EDIT: and the most appalling part is that the Galaxy Nexus literately has pins SPECIFICALLY for a dock, yet the Note still has a dock! LMFAO

Actually, the galaxy note came out in October last year. The nexus was December I think?
So it's had a 2 month head start.

Wouldn't hurt to get a few opinions in the Nexus 4 forums... Granted, I'm sure there's quite a few S4 owners who own or have owned the Nexus 4, but there's definitely a much higher concentration of N4 owners in their own forums and I would think they would have more of a hands-on opinion than most people here...
I'd say go for it though... I was close to buying one when it came out and the only things I didn't like was the lack of SD card expansion, can't get to the battery without disassembling, and I've read that the glass cracks easily.

I don't know the answer to question, but I do know this thing has a very durable screen. I carry it around in my back pocket, and it rides around in a steel clipboard a few hours a day. Your needs may be different than mine, but if you're only talking light use, there is no real need for a screen protector. I hope this helps at least a little!

FWIW, I was in a local Dollar Store today and they had SPs for either iPad or iPad mini.
For $1 it'd be worth experimenting.
If you have any place similar nearby it might be worth a try.
Will none of the big name screen protector companies ship to your country? Personally I prefer Ghost Armor! That's what I have on all of my devices! Just ordered one tonight since Ghost Armor finally released them for the N7 FHD!

As the device is not out for sale in Egypt officially so there is no screen protector for it yet
Found that the Galaxy Tab P1000 ( The old one ) is the nearest one to Nexus 7 , it's even smaller so no cuts will be needed
Galaxy Tab P1000 Dimensions: 190.1 x 120.5 x 12 mm (7.48 x 4.74 x 0.47 in)
Nexus 7 2013 Dimensions: 200 x 114 x 8.7 mm (7.87 x 4.49 x 0.34 in)
Will get a one and try it
Thanks all for your help
Another Question ,,,
Is it safe to use Galaxy Note II Original Charger instead of using ASUS Charger ??!!

personally, i think it is not safe to use the Note 2 charger. it is better to use the original one.
by the way, i am using the Gearmaxx anti-glare screen protector for protecting the screen for my Nexus 7. just my sharing, i am happy on the quality of this screen protector but i think you can check it out first before you buy the screen protector. if you don't think this product is good, you are always welcome to choose another. but personally, i like this Gearmaxx screen protector and so i would like to share to you. cheers! :victory:

The last stand you'll ever need.....

I had bought this stand way back in the Viewsonic G tablet days and I've used it with the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Acer A700, Nexus 7, previous Note 10.1, the new Nexus 7 and now the new Note 10.1. It useful for those that like to cook and use their tablet as a cookbook or entertainment in the kitchen. Or just somewhere to stand the tablet during or after using it. It has various adjustments, its thick plastic so it can take a beating, you can fold it up and it doesn't cost that much. And it will continue to outlive this tablet and others in the future, one stand for all eternity.

man, i bought that same stand for the same tablet! that was my second or third android tablet. sylvania, then either the g tablet or the archos 101 was next. oooh, the memories:crying:
that was a great tablet with the worst screen i've ever had.
Oh that screen was awful but the tablet had so much potential at the time. It did start my love of tablets and tweaking them!
I bought this stand from eBay but a white one. Best stand out there and cheap price. The only thing left is finding a case for it with no cover.

My Nexus 7 2013 is dead - is there no suitable replacement on the market?

I'm a bit confused to why the Nexus 7 is no longer being sold. Google has nothing on the market that replaces it. No other manufacturer seems to offer anything similar.
I want a 7" tablet with decent specs. There are none anywhere.
The brand new Samsung Tab A 7", only has a 800p display, 8gb of storage and a weak cpu/gpu. The nexus 7 2013 is 3 years old but has much better specs.
There are numerous cheap 7" tablets that don't have specs that can compare to FLO.
FYI I don't want an 8" tablet, they're too wide in profile mode. I love 7" tablets because they have the profile of a e-reader and fit comfortably in only one hand.
Samsung Tab S2 8" has good specs but for some reason they didn't make a 7" model.
Can anyone point me to a 7" tablet with specs that can compare to Flo. I wish I could just buy another Nexus 7 2013, but google stopped selling them for some reason.

I have the same dilema as you. I've searched and searched and can't find anything in the same form factor, price range, and spec range to warrant a upgrade. Kind of sad that this part of the tablet market has died since the launch of the N7. I thought there would be a boom of tablets in that price/size range. Even tablets that are coming out this year or so aren't as good as this 3 year old tablet. Most everything is moving to the 8 inch form factor and seem to be trying to copy the iPad Mini more than anything. I'm really hoping for a refresh of the N7 in some way with this next round of Nexus devices.

Thanks, there never seems to be any that ship to Canada. Same with other used sites.
Oh well, I just ordered a screen and digitizer with frame from Amazon, hopefully I can fix it.
Repair
Why not repair it?
A dead N7 has a bad battery probably. N7 will not boot on external power alone.
If the notification light blinks a few times while you connect a charger, then the battery is faulty. You can confirm it by measuring the battery's voltage.
A replacement battery is ~$20 on eBay.
