heating up while using qi charger - Nexus 5 Accessories

Just wanted to ask those using Qi chargers to charge their phones, if the N5 gets hot when charging.
I have my N5 charging on a no-brand Qi charger and it gets quite warm. Is this normal?
I don't remember my N4 getting so warm though.

using the Nokia charging plate. gets a bit warm but no more than the standard way of charging.

I am using LG WCP-700. First time I tried yesterday it's heating up quite a bit to ~50F... I was using an audio playback app through bluetooth. Today, it's charging without much warming up... It's idling (not running anything), not sure if that's the issue. Weird.
I am getting a couple Nokia charging plates in the mail soon, will see how well that works.

I think my phones get hotter when not well aligned with charger. Using nexus orb.

I have both the Nokia DT-900 and the LG WCP-300.
They both get warm, but not hot. Same as my standard OEM chargers. The WCP-300 get slightly warmer, but it is also delivering more power.

Using a Nokia plate my phone barely gets warm, about average for any charge.

Does anyone else's charger make a buzzing sound?

I tried my charger for the first time last night and as soon as I plugged it in, it immediately began getting quite warm and emitted quite the loud buzzing sound.
Is there any way I can get my charger replaced without having to return the whole tablet?
Some chargers buzz once its fully charged. Don't know why but its annoying.
My iPod chargers don't do this. Neither do most of my chargers. I am using a white Chinese cheapo that is buzzing. I haven't used the official charger because I keep the accessories wrapped up in new condition since its easier to sell that way.
Could just be a cheap charger or defective. Easier to just pick up another one from somewhere. At my house I have multiple devices using the OG Nexus 7 2.1A charger.

the link doesn't work, the brand is not mentioned, neither the model... Bad post man
fixed link - http://www.amazon.com/PowerBot%C2%AE-Inductive-Compatible-Including-Smartphones/dp/B00F6SPYJS
Bought this when it was on sale for like $14.99 by the same primo-superstore guys. Great qi charger. It does BEEP when you first put the phone on but doesn't keep BEEPING once the phone is fully charged like some others.
Very low noise beep tho', so not really a big deal. There's also a tiny LED light on the front of the charger for indication. It did not come with an AC adapter so you'll have to supply one. But it did came with a long and a short micro USB cable. I suppose one is for connecting to a wall charger and the other one for your computer. It does charge just phone if you hook it up to the computer USB port, although much slower.
Best $15 buck I spent all year.
Bought the same or similar one from FastTech and am waiting for it to come in. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Does it keep the Nexus 5 at 100% when you charge it overnight or does it completely stop charging once it reaches 100%. Does the phone/battery get hot when using this charger?
Ya it works with my digitronic case no problem and the beep actually really helps letting you know its charging. Ya I know there is no brand and sorry for the bad link but I have both the official nexus charger and this one seems way better I can just set it down hear the beep and its good to go where the nexus charger I always have to double check the placement when I put it down.

What happens when the phone reaches 100% and you leave it on the charger (As would happen when you're charging it overnight). Does the charge remain at 100%?

Yes it remains at 100% and does not beep all night like other ones it has been working great so far. I read a lot of people having trouble with these types of chargers they would charge then it gos to 99% then back to full and beeps on a cycle all night long but I have not experienced that with this charger. I don't know if this one on amazon is different then other ones sold on eBay they all look the same but so far the one from amazon is good. I'm almost thinking about returning the nexus charger to Google because I don't use it anymore.

I bought one too and I like it a lot. I can charge my nexus 5 (via Qi), Nexus 7 FHD (USB, 2.1A) and Dell Venue 8 pro (usb, 1A) simultaneously while charging the internal battery.
Just ordered one. It says 17-28 days, which is a while, but I'm not in a hurry
Does it have the magnets though that the nexus charger has? That's really why I wanted to buy the nexus one.
I got this last week. I used velcro to stick it to my car mount. I had to remove the rubber rings from the top and bottom to make this work.
It does not have magnets. The magnets in the official charger set it apart from most other Qi chargers.
It works well with my Dizitronic TPU case
FYI - Here's the Fasttech model. I can confirm that this works with both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Fast charging, and no beeping all night. For those people having trouble with beeping, try being more precise with placement... I find on the Nexus 4, that if I put the charger dead center on the body of the phone, it will beep continuously. If I offset the charger about 1/2" towards the micro-USB port on the phone, the beeping stops and it charges perfectly. The Nexus 5 seems less picky about placement, the sweet spot seems to be quite large in comparison.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006012/1462103-t200-qi-wireless-charging-plate
I bought two, and really need to buy about five more. They're awesome.
Oh, and to answer someone else's question, no magnets for the N5... but flat on a desk and with the large sweet spot, it doesn't seem to matter.
I have this one too. It's worked well for me as a magnetic car dock (had to add the magnets). I hated the Beep sound whenever it became misaligned so I popped it open and found the speaker.
It's the tall black thing in the middle-left of the attached image. If you pop off the top plastic lid of that little black thing you can remove the little metal circle that sits inside it and it stops the beeping. If that's an issue for anyone else...
Hi. I bought the same and works well. I think the bip sound is a good thing because sometimes the position from the phone is incorrect. In this case no bip

Bargain at only $8.49.
Expecting it to be functionally the same as my "puck" charger, so will need a larger PSU (I use 1.2A) to solve the problem of not keeping the phone topped up after its fully charged
Great value for a second charger for use at work

There's already several tutorials on how to do it. But I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Needs non-slip grip though so I used one of those silicon Smartgrip dash mats I bought at the container store on top of the magnets. Works great. Here's the tutorial I used though. And a picture of my charger now.

[Q] - Qi car charger/ sat nav + heat hot hot??

People that use a qi car charger/ mount.....
Now i have a normal qi charger and it warms the phone a little when charging which is expected.
And in past experience on phones using Google Maps to navigate makes your phone hot hot hot
So does anyone regularly use both together? Qi and navigation? If so what's the phone temps like?

Hot battery
Tried this today in the car and i got 113°f using qi charger and maps. Very hot!
Thanks, that what I was wondering, i dunno whether to buy a qi car charger because of this :-S

You really need an active cooling solution when you are using QI charge plus the GPS function. One of the solution is to use the fan from the air vent of your car if you do not use warm air con.

Wireless Charger - Avantree

Just recevied my wireless charger today from my local online store.
Pretty small in size but it working great so far. Charging time is a little slower than the cable charging but I like the idea of just placing my phone down on the pad and it start charge. I don't mind about how fast or how slow it charge as long as it sit there and charging rather than sitting there and do nothing but discharging..
I'd went about one cycle of full charged with this unit and there's no problem of overheating or other sort of abnormality.. So I'm pretty impressed how easy it is now. I have it sit on my office table and forget about plugging and unplugging the charger cable whenever I need to use the phone.

Solid device though, hard to open up
Blue led is annoying as flashes while charging, not good for night stand charger!

Wireless charging is one of the best things to ever happen to my phone, seriously. No more messing with cables on my desk every time I need to check my texts or whatever.

Spare battery finally.

Finally after waiting a few weeks, I finally found an alright priced battery. Found it on eBay with free shipping, $32, OEM new spare lg battery. I still can't wait for the zerolemon. I think it's just horrible that the prices for this batteries are this high compared to anker and such.
Can you share a link please?

Sure thing! I won't receive the spare battery till tomorrow but I did receive the dock with spare charger built in yesterday.
The dock is is visually pleasing except for the company sticker that I peeled off pretty easily. It was able to charge my phone with Supcase without problems in 2hours from 20% Build quality seems solid. I'm pretty happy with it. Once I get my spare batteries tomorrow I'll test to see how well it will charge my phone and spare together.

Its worth it I think. Apparently the ones that have gripes with it are from M8 owners? But honestly for $16.99 it's pretty good. Fits the LG G3 with Supcase very nicely. Its hard enough to find a spare charging unit for our phones let alone the spare batteries.
Update:
I have had this dock with spare battery charger for a few days now. Been charging my spare batteries along with my phone and it's safe to say that it does well charging my phone and spare batteries completely to 100% so happy with my purchase

I have been looking for an inexpensive charger. Does this one hold the G3 battery tightly? I've had similar wall chargers and if the battery does not fit snugly, it slides away from the charging poles and does not charge.
Edit: I watched an amazon customer video review, it appears to hold a battery pretty securely.
I may pick this up. Thanks for the link.
