Changes:
(11/8/2013) - Enabled transparant nav/status bar in the launcher. Despite what Google claims it works fine.
(11/14/2013) - Fixed video playback. Now using 4.4 binaries.
REMEMBER: FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK

Awesome. Thanks for this. Will flash soon.

I'll give this a go.

Booted up!! first thing i noticed there is no google now, only the search bar so i can search but no cards
Edit: i got it by putting the google now widget on a screen and it prompted me to get google now.

Yeah the Google now issue has to do with Cyanogenmod's hooks into the setup process. It currently overrides the question about Google Now. You can manually enable it by opening Google Settings and toggling it on.

For the rotation issue -Landscape/protrait... Use the "Ultimate rotation control" from Play. works great.:good:

Getting a Status 7. Any idea on howto fix this?

Use cwm6.0.4.3 for 4.4. The others wont work at the moment.

Wow that's very smooth and fast ! But video playback is broken. Promising ...

Flashed this rom and everything works fine except of video playback, but I know its cause of the binarys?
Another thing i noticed is that the google launcher runs very slow and laggy. Anyone noticed that to?
Anyways...looking forward to the next build

GEL isn't really meant to be used on anything except n5. The always on search will kill your battery on anything else except maybe the new moto phones

Didnt work on SlimKat. Thats the reason why i changed to cwm.

@impulse101
OK didnt know that. So i'll go back to nova launcher

The n5 has the same processor as the note 3 what makes you say that it will only work on that
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium HD app

*facepalm* I'm ashamed at how easy this really was. but If anyone is still wondering how to get Google now again, just press and hold on the homescreen and click the settings icon, then enable it.

Wanted to try this, but after updating from my CM 10.2 nightly, I got stuck in the CM logo for 5 minutes before going back to recovery and restoring my backup. I used the latest CWM version available (6.0.4.3). Any ideas?

It's certainly need a full wipe : Factory reset + format system

You didn't have to wipe SD card data right?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

Factory reset don't wipe sdcard (data/media in cwm). But all application datas will be lost

Yes, it's true I didn't wipe. It was never needed when upgrading from one CM version to the other. Not from 9 to 10, not from 10 to 10.1, etc. I'm not talking about N10, just about devices I had CM running previously.
It doesn't make any sense wiping for no apparent reason. Google doesn't require you to wipe from one version to the other, neither does Apple. So far this was the case for CM as well, which of course is based on Google's OS.

UPDATE
Android 4.2.2 v6
Working: All with amazing battery life
Not working: Google Wallet (force close)
Again, not my work, just helping the community!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341794
Same setup - should work on T-MO.
Just an update about the new 4.3 GPe: External SD Card is readable when you plug it into your PC. The camera however still does not read the SD card. All else is still functioning.Version 4.3 will break root! All versions of SU currently do not work with 4.3. Just keep that in mind.
You can flash this over your current 4.2.2 Google Edition. If you're coming from TW, do a complete wipe, then flash. Thanks
____________________________________________________________________
No - I did not grab the system dump myself
Yes - I have tested this for the TMO variant and it's fully functioning
I did create a Youtube Video on how to install the Google Edition S4. Check it out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmYpkJ27WAM
Althought it's not a ROM built from scratch or a project of any kind, it is a rom all in itself straight from the S4 GE
(Updated Link) - Thanks to luckyduck69 for posting a new mirror. Previous Link crashed XD.
If you're interested in the GE (VERSION 4.2.2), download here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5nz662i2y826kwd/google-edition-bg.zip
As always, make a backup, wipe, then flash.
Enjoy!:good:

Installed using TWRP 2.5.0.2.
Was notified Root was not installed, told TWRP to install it for me.
So far, seems fine! I miss the "long press back to kill app" feature, but I can live without it as I play with this ROM.
Thanks for the link! After flashing this ROM will all software/firmware on the phone be identical to that on the GPe handset? Or are there any other bits that aren't contained in the ROM?
I'm wondering that too. This is stable? Wipe system/data/cache and flash?
I did a wipe flashed and then had to reboot to get WiFi
going, other than that so far so good .feels smooth, but it could be a placebo effect not sure

Not a problem. After flashing this direct port, I've noticed that my Model number changed to GT-I9505G, but my baseband remains the same (MDL), As it appears, everything is fully functioning from that of the GPe. To be clear, no errors, force closes, or mis-haps have occured.

I'm not sure wi-fi calling is known to work even on the real GPe, is it? I thought it might be specific to TMo/TW ROM somehow. I guess only GPe reviewers know at this point.
I was referring more to general wi-fi capability, I saw some guys saying that didn't work with the GPe system dump on TMo handset.

*Near Perfect* ShinyROM [AOSP 4.4.2] KOT49H (No mods, completely stock!)

ORIGINAL CREDIT TO BALDWINGUY77 OVER ON ROOTZWIKI. CHECK OUT THE ORIGINAL THREAD HERE
This ROM is Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat, build KOT49H. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.
As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...
Features
Stock Android 4.4.2, build KOT49H
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
(De)Odexed
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Believe it or not, December is still a month!
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list
Installation Instructions (VERY IMPORTANT - Note: You can flash all of these ZIPs in CWM or TWRP)
ROM
1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's Superuser Root ZIP, the radios installation ZIP, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. If you are updating your radios, flash FK01_FK02_Radios-signed.zip
11. If you are updating your bootloader, flash PRIMEMD04-signed.zip
12. Flash the ROM (baldwinguy77_toro_aosp...signed.zip)
13. If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
14. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!
Download it noooooooowwwww: here, instant dl.
This isn't mine, if you have questions feel free to ask.
The lag can be fixed (apparently) by using a custom kernel like Mpokang.
I am sure this will get deleted... Xda doesn't like links to that other site....

Switched over to ShinyROM 4.3.x after running mmuzzy's ROMs for quite some time. Both devs are busy but are great with supporting their builds. If you're looking for a natural follow up to mmuzzy 4.2.2, I'd suggest Shiny 4.3.1. Like mmuzzy's ROMs, it's rock solid, close to stock and seems to be very compatible with the leaked 4.4 apps.

If you alter anything under settings ie changing from 3g to LTE after reboot you will only be able to obtain 3g. After clean install upon booting up immediately reboot to continue set up. 4g loads up everytime

But definitely has the graphics glitches. These are going to be present in every 4.4 for gnex until they figure it the new graphics drivers from what I've read.
Other than the graphics I haven't run into any issues. GPS works.. Not sure on Bluetooth as I don't use it. Using mpokang 1080 kernel.

---------- Post added at 06:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------
I also wanna add, that I've had issues before with apps not restoring from play store, and it had to do with me flashing a new ROM, not allowing restore to happen(or it not happening for some reason) and then I think since the default is on for "backup/auto restore apps", it now thinks I haven't installed any app yet so reflashing even other gapps that it would work with won't start the auto restore of apps cuz it doesn't see any as being installed with the latest backup it made. Though this might not be true. And apologized if I confused with this post. I hope the ones above I linked work.
I think I understand. I let the phone sit for an hour and it only restored one app
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Can I use these for 4.2.2? I actually went back to sorcery (toro). I used his apps and whenever I try to search the app the market closed. Therefore I installed another 4.2 gapps and the same thing happened which is highly annoying.

If you haven't already tried wispoffates mentioned in the cm11 thread he was able to reset them and it worked. I'm not sure if he meant just for data or both data and calls and I'm also not sure how he did it. In cm11 you just hit menu then hit restore apns but I haven't had a chance to install this yet so I don't really know. Good luck!

Very slick and fast! Keyboard needed to be manually selected. Haven't tried GPS yet but all Google play updates and audio working great.
Thumbs up!!
Been using this rom for about 2 hours and seems pretty solid for such an early build. Had a hiccups when scrolling through notifications (had to start scrolling at the top of the notification stack or the pull down settings would come down) and the back camera doesn't work. Keyboard wasn't enabled on initial startup. So far so good though.
Just wanted to say thanks to all involved for making this ROM, keeping my Note II viable will donate soon.
I deleted some system apps with root explorer, but im still getting fc's from those apps. What did i miss?
edit: clearing cache in recovery fixes it
Thank You!
I installed this Rom yesterday and i just wanted to thank you for giving my old L900 new life again! although this is beta im quite pleased with this rom. Thank you for all your hard work and making me keep my note 2 for a bit longer! Cant wait to see how this Rom progresses its solid already in my eyes :good:

I wish I remembered what the error said, but it's frustrating the crap out of me. This happened when trying to flash the carbon ROM on my phone, and same thing happened when trying to flash this ROM.
What gives? Any advice?

Have you tried updating your recovery?

Yep, I have the newest version of twrp. To clarify, I'm getting error 7. The one that says the ROM you're trying to flash isn't compatible with your phone, even though it absolutely is. Happened with every ROM over been trying to flash lately.

I'm running without issue.... I have busybox and chain fire root for better speed....
Uh, How?
Can someone tell me step by step what I do?

I don't want to mess anything up, but I hate the way the default OS on the S4 looks.
Any update on bluetooth for jfltetmo on CM13? Last I heard from a few days ago was that bluetooth was working sometimes but would often crash, requiring a reboot to fix. Can anyone comment on reliability?

My bluetooth has been crashing for months on the jfltetmo CM13 nightly channel. If I turn bluetooth on, it works for about 5 minutes before it crashes and starts throwing "Unfortunately, Bluetooth Share has stopped." every minute or so until I reboot. I did a factory reset, which fixed it for about 24 hours before it went back to crashing. Does anyone know if there's a way to get in touch with the developers to let them know about this? Bluetooth is a really important feature for me.

Unfortunate, but that's what I expected. I will just wait longer. I am on 12.1-20160114-NIGHTLY and the bluetooth is usually stable. Crashes sometimes though (once a week?).
The CM dev's don't care. They really do not. Don't even bother trying to get anyone's attention. Remember? These are same guys who launched XDA's "YOU ARE NOOB WORTHLESS SCUM" campaign.
i wanna ask , whats the cyanogenmod recovery img made for?
