[Q] can't get clock app working after attempted install of 3.0 version - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Verizon version running 4.2.2 stock rooted. Tried installing the 3.0 desk clock apk from android 4.4. I first backed up the apk with titanium, then removed 2.3.0. Then installed the 3.0 apk. The new app crashed immediately. Tried to uninstall 3.0 and restore 2.3 but now that crashes too. Tried everything from reboots and reinstalls, even recovery mode and wiping dalvik cache. Nothing works and I am stuck with no clock app.
Help.

Got the same issue a few minutes ago! I fixed it by
Settings > Apps > all > Clock ( the smaller one, about 0,88 in my case. Not the bigger one with 3mb)
Clear data in the main (bigger) App.
Working for me perfect so far! I guess the FC is caused by the clock settings for lock screen... Hope that works for you too!

No dice. Nothing works for me. I fear I may need to re-flash the stock ROM. Although, at this point I might as well flash a 4.3 ROM since Verizon is still holding out.

Just did a factory reset and still the clock crashes....... arrrrgh!

Had to do a full wipe, flash 4.2.2 and re-root. But now my clock works.
Next time I will wait for the update!

[Q] LeeDroid HD 3.1.4: Sense 3.0 Addon not installing & others

Hello all,
Sorry for posting here....although I have followed the forum, I have not posted much and cannot post yet in the development forums.
1. I installed LeeDroid..its a great ROM! (thanks) I flashed the sense 3.0 add-on a couple of times through the CWM 3.0.2.6 but the sense is still 2.1. What am I doing wrong?
2. How to I flash the radio? I have S-off and Eng-off..my CID is HD_001 (I can change it to 1111111 if needed). Please let me know.
3. Is there an Arabic add-on for the latest leeDroid rom (this would be awesome)
Thanks!
Bump!
Anyone knows the answer?

1. For now, Lee's patch is the lockscreen, weather & mms. He did indicate he was playing with rosie 3 and wdigets from SEO's thread. Never know, he may make a updated patch for us.
If you have any problems (FCs, weather not syncing and so on) try to do a data partition wipe or go to Settings -> Applications -> Mnage aplications -> All apps and clear data of these apps:
HTC Weather Sync Provider
Weather Provider
HTC Sense
Messages
Please avoid restoring titanium backups of above applications
Click to collapse
2. Read this and all warnings: [RADIO][LATEST: 26.09.04.11]The HTC Desire HD Radio Thread
DL the correct radio
check md5 (ensure the checksum matches - not corrupted - on the above thread). If It's in a zip, extract, you want to check the radio.img file.
Place the extracted radio.img into the sdk folder where the fastboot.exe is located
Use CMD to navigate to that folder ie. cd\program files\android\android-sdk\tools\ (yours might be slightly different, but you get the idea)
Connect phone to pc, USB debugging enabled, Edit: Charge only mode
type " fastboot reboot bootloader", wait a minute, phone will boot into FASTBOOT USB
type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Reboot phone, you can check version menu / settings / about phone / software information
You don't need to worry about RIL's, as the RIL is provided in the ROM for ......11_M2
3. Not too sure about the Arabic patch yet, I'm sure Lee will get around to it soon enough.
Weather Problems (Lee's)

Im having a similar problem, my weather never ever syncs properly. I click into weather update and its brings in the weather then as soon as i change screen it dissapears and doesnt come back.
The above doesn't work for me. Ive tried this process a few times now, each time its just removes all my apps from the 7 screens and reverts back to the stock setting.
How do you make the weather work properly? Its so annoying.
I got the exact same issue with the weather, any fix ?
Thanks a lot
force close issues with rosie 3.0
I just did a full wipe today to flash the LeeDroid 3.1.5 w/ kernal 3.1.6. I am running the recommended radio aswell. I flashed the sense 3.0 kingdom and flashed rosie 3.0 after. all from Lee's OP. Screens worked well and looked great, but when I tried to start playing with the widgets I got force close from Rosie 3.0 everytime. Tried a fresh wipe and reflashed again and cleared cache from sense and still had same force close problems. So I went the 3rd round without rosie installed and everything is working normally. I havent tried installing w/o sense 3.0 all-in-one.
I think this problem is related possibly to the problems in this forum so I thought I would share. Think it needs a little work but I really liked the addon, so I hope it is resolved..!
I had the same issue with the weather when I first starting the using sense 3.0 patch. Deleting all data for the weather app fixed it for me
Settings -> Manage Applications -> All -> Weather -> Clear Data
For good measure I also cleared the data for anything else relating to weather (widget, provider, agent service, etc) but you might just get away with just clearing data for the weather app itself

You are not doing anything wrong, sense in leedroid remains 2.1 despite the addons/mods you are applying because those are not full sense 3.0 but just parts of it.
this sense 3.0 weather app has got me exhausted, really.
i tried so many tips and tricks but again it force closes.
it never comes up on lock screen.
why don't they fix it soon ...

Problems After Restoring to Stock

After using the Optimized Shift ROM for about a week, I felt like I was ready to return to the stability of the stock ROM, so I restored to Froyo/Sense 1.0 this evening. I used Titanium Backup to re-install my data after the factory reset, and most everything worked well. However, I have found that the HTC weather app cannot detect my current location (GPS is on and every other GPS-using app works fine), and no HTC wallpapers are showing up in the wallpaper selection app. These are both minor issues, and I'm sure they have something to do with Titanium Backup (since the weather widget worked before I restored apps and data), so is there anything I can do?
Thanks.
EDIT: The weather widget is sort of working now - my weather is showing up on the widget, but if I tap on the weather, my current location weather does not show up in the full app.
EDIT 2: And now the widget has completely stopped working again.

No, I did not.
I'd try doing a full wipe and restoring/reflashing the rom without using titanium to restore. While it is convenient, it seems like it causes more issues than its worth. Are you restoring any app or system data? And did you wipe everything before going back to the stock rom?
I've had this issue before. I did a PRL update (*22899) and after my phone rebooted it was working. Give that a try.

blank screen - Launcher not resopnding

Hi all,
For past few days i have been getting the strange issue. When i turn on my phone nothing would come and only black screen would show up. Then after few seconds i get message saying "launcher is not responding"...
I have tried both stock and nova launcher but same issue. I reflashed stock rom again and still same problem.
My Rom: ICS 4.0.2 Stock and stock kernel.
I want to keep stock rom so what is the solution? Why does this happen? Thanks

did you at any point between flashes, factory reseted the device?
did you try clearing app data/cache?
concerning nova launcher, you should post this under its related thread
concerning stock launcher, you should try and reach [email protected] groups
people flash all kinds of stuff but one ANR (application not responding) comes along and all hell breaks loose. get adb logcat when you're booting up/entering Android UI.
i can't wipe data or cache as i have stock recovery.I don't have CWM. i will upload the logcat soon. Thanks

if you press up (or up+power) on stock recovery, it will give you a recovery menu if i'm not mistaken (i may not recall it correctly).
and i was talking about the app data/cache that you clear in Settings > Apps as well, not just the ones in recovery.

Here is the Logcat. I already wiped everything when i flashed stock rom 4.0.2 with XXKK6.
Launcher not Responding
I'm getting a similar problem with my new Galaxy Nexus. I'm running stock ICS 4.0.1, kernel 3.0.1 on the bell mobility network. I've installed a few apps, but nothing which seems too unpopular. Here is the list I had installed when the launcher was performing flawlessly:
Swype Keyboard
Draw Free
Bell Mobile TV
Volume+
Here's what I've installed recently since launcher has become unstable:
Flashlight v. 1.3.0
Skype
StumbleUpon
TED
Sudoku Free
Here's whats been installed since:
Tip n Split
Antivirus Free
RealCalc
Quite regularly I am getting the "Launcher is not responding" message with a request to wait, report, or close the launcher. The home screen will lock up temporarily and none of the buttons will become usable. I've checked the ram usage, and it is holding at around 400mb. Clearing a bunch of apps from the cache or running screen does not change the frequency of freezes. I have also tried resetting the Nexus to factory defaults without any new apps, but it only took about an hour before I got the 'Launcher is not responding' message.
Anyone have any ideas for re-stabilizing ICS?
Thanks!
There is a part in the logcat talking about a channel that is unrecoverably broken... seems 1 of the fc's, power outage or something else left a file half written in your system.
Try performing a factory reset (which will wipe all userdata and give you a clean system)
if this doesn't work and you've had your phone unlocked reflash the system, boot and recovery again (using fastboot) (how to do that is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391881 )
If you have not tempered wit the system in any way (not rooted, no custom roms and no custom recovery) send it back to the store and get it fixed under warranty. When you can't or don't want to contact your seller proceed with reflashing your system at your own risk.

[Q] Widgets background problem

Hi,
I am using RunnyDrOiD v5.0 on my desire z with sense 3.5 / Android 2.3.5
Out of sudden, and without installing new application, I am not able to see the background of the widgets (weather, clock, mail ...) and the icon description on the screen locker are showing in big red.
Attached are the pictures of whats going on.
Any idea what is the problem and the possible resolutions? Hope I don't have to install the ROM again and wipe data.
Thanks in advance.
Seems like your launcher doesn't start properly.. If rebooting doesn't solve your problem, then you can try to reflash without wiping. All System files are then put back to their original state, but your settings and installed apk's are not touched.
If that doesn't work, I think that you'll have to reflash with a full wipe.

Thanks man... SOLVED!
Re-flashed the ROM without wipe and everything works fine now.
Any idea why this happened? so that to avoid in future.
Saldy I have no clue.. Most likely there were some settings wrong or the launcher took to much ram memory to start properly, but I can't tell for sure. If this happends again, just reflash, and it works again.

Pulling the battery out for the Nth time after 4.2 upgrade

I flashed my Galaxy Nexus last night to rooted 4.2 rom found here: http://goo.im/devs/bigxie/maguro/bigxie_maguro_OTA_JOP40C_odexed-signed.zip
The upgrade went smoothly. Not hiccups whatsoever. In less than 15 minutes I'm on 4.2 and rooted. I installed TitanumBackup, restored my apps/settings from my previous setup. That's when things started to go wonky:
First, HD widget doesn't work. It stuck in "loading...". I removed the widget, thinking that it might require an update from the devs.
Then, things started to become sluggish. I was on Nova Prime launcher. Very often it stops responding, and after a while, it shows the "Not responding...close/report/wait" dialog. I chose 'close' and the screen would go blank. I cannot wake it up using the power button or anything. I had to pull the battery out.
I thought it was the problem with the Nova launcher. After the restart, I switched to the stock launcher. It was noticeably faster, but when I launcher apps, even the App store, it would not respond again.
Does anyone have a similar experience?

Ahh that sucks man. I am not really a heavy user, but i am sure you are not the only with problems :fingers-crossed:
Especially from updated OS versions, only restore apps from TiBu. No data or system stuff. That's when problems start. Just restore apps no data, re-log in and see if problems persist.
Do a full wipe and try a different ROM. Or try that same ROM before restoring your apps and data. I haven't had any freezes or force closes since I flashed 4.2

If you did a Titanium Backup restore with Data you're going to need to do a complete wipe and re-flash. You can restore apps between different ROMs usually, but restoring data from one ROM to another different one is almost always going to give you trouble. Just do a clean install and restore app only, you should be good to go.

Before I flashed 4.2, I did both clean dalvik cache and clean data partition. I'm going to reflash this and only restore apps. Will it restore my settings if I chose not to restore data? I guess I'll find out.
No, unfortunately it isn't going to do any settings. Not sure how complex your setup is but I can usually have everything back to the way I like it in 20-30 minutes after a clean flash.

I thought that's the point of Titanium Backup. Maybe from 4.1.1 to 4.2 is too big a jump?
I did notice that on 4.2, the media partition is moved from /data/media to /data/sdcard/0. There are extra /data/sdcard/legacy and /data/sdcard/obb directories now. Not sure if it's related.

You can move or copy your /android/data and /data folders from sdcard/0 to your /sdcard folder and the apps should pick up their data again.
Definitely the problem has to do with titanium backup, I used to have those kind of issues before when I had my s2, I would recommend a fresh install of jelly bean 4.2 (factory image) and reinstall all the apps from your preferred markets.
You could try to fix permissions also, just to see if the forced closes stop

I did wipe out the dalvik cache. I ended up reflashed the ROM and only restore the app data one by one, skipping over the ones I suspect might be a problem. It's all running smoothly now.
