Anyones home button sticking? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

When the phone is awakened via the home button (with no slide to unlock/password set), the "recent apps" menu opens (as if the home button was being held down)
Seems to mostly happen only when the phone is awakened. Anyone seen/heard of the issue?

Common issue. It was discussed a lot a while back, not so much lately. Either way it's not sticking it's a software bug the easiest fix is to use a lockscreen, but dwitherell posted a fix in the jedi thread a while ago. I think I have a link to the post (it involves decompiling files) if you want it

Mine sometimes does it too. But it only happens when the phone goes off after the screen timeout is triggered (a minute for me). And when I'll wake it again it brings up my recent apps, that's the only time it'll happen though. But that's still not supposed to happen is it?

Task Manager

When i open the task manager(stock) and want to close an app, if I try to tap on the first app on the list, for some reason it close the 3 app on the list, and the same viceversa.
That is really annoying, does anyone else have the same problem?

if I get what your saying.. your saying when you try to close something it closes the one 3 apps below it? atleast that's what happens to me sometimes. when you are trying to close and app, do you have your phone plugged into a charger? if so take that out and try again. that seemed to fix the issue for me.

yes its really annoying, and this happens not only while charging the phone. Is the screen mess up? Because sometimes this happens on the web as well, not as frequent than the task manager. Or its just because its a capacitive screen?

None of what you describe happens to me..
It sometimes happens tp me if I'm not careful. I've gotten into the habit of long pressing the end button and it seems to be better.
Happens to me all the time. I ALSO started long pressing the "End" button that I want. Sometimes when I long press, I can see one of the other "End" buttons highlight momentarily, before the highlight moves to the button that I'm holding down. It doesn't happen to me anywhere outside of the Task Manager, so it's probably a SW bug in the app itself.
The stock task manager doesn't even show al the apps that are running. Why not delete it and just use advaced task killer?

Lost virtual buttons

I've had the phone for two days now and this has happened 3 times now.
The worst one was I got a phone call but the keyboard was up and the back button wasn't there to get rid of it. So I couldn't answer the phone.
One time I couldn't exit the settings menu because the buttons disappeared.
To remedy I turn off the display, turn it back on and unlock to the camera. I think because the camera has the special hidden buttons it causes the phone to refresh the button display otherwise I couldn't find another way to do it.
Has this happened to others? I haven't seen threads about it.

I lost them once but got them back by turning the phone sideways and then back upright once the buttons reappeared.

Oh wow, yea, that would probably work too. But some apps lock to portrait (dialer).

Happened to me while I was playing a game (Reckless Gateway) and received a call at the same time. After the call, soft buttons wouldn't appear anymore, had to restart my phone
I have only lost the buttons when flashing a mod that was not compatible...in that situation I did not have the virtual buttons or the notification bar at all.
Never happened to me on stock or rom. What build/android is your phone? You can find info in settings>about phone

This has happened to me a couple times while using Google Nav. I just pulled down the notification bar and hit the settings button - that seemed to bring the buttons back. Strange issue.
Just a few kinks that need ironing out.. hopefully Google is aware of minor bugs like this already

Yep, exactly. Though I wouldn't call this minor because it made me miss a call.
Another thing I just noticed. Go into an app that has the menu virtual button (the three dots) then turn off the screen. Turn it back on and the menu button will be the only virtual button on the Lock Screen. You can press it and automatically unlock the phone. I'm using slide to unlock and the news and weather app to do this every time.
Edit: Just tried with a different lock (pattern) and the menu button will not unlock. But it is still there and you can press it. It just does nothing. Weird.

Power button on GN jelly bean

I sometimes (1 out of 20 times) have problem with the power button to wake up the screen, it only happens once a while, so I press the button, nothing happened, and I press another time, then it woke.
I personally thought it is a software issue rather than hardware. Do you guys have similar experience.
Yep, all the time.
Same thing for me.

I also have the same issue but its rare.
thank god, then I should not panic about my power button at all
Ditto. I posted this in the JellyBean general thread too.
This is one of many things wrong with JB. There's still microlag, the keyboard has taken a dramatic step backwards (missed autocorrections, randomly repeated letters and words!, and backspacing glitches galore; it did none of these things with ICS keyboard), and the aforementioned power button issue.
We really need 4.1.2 that addresses these issues.
Noticing this too.
I've noticed the power key thing two times. A second press woke the phone just fine.
No issues with keyboard here though.

+1 for power button. Was starring to think it was hardware til I read this

Same here.
Happnes very regularly for me though... More times than not.
Me too

I noticed with mine that when I hit the power button and touched the screen where the sliders will be, I feel vibration. From there it will take another 4-5 hits to unlock and sometimes just time.

Lol same Here. The keyboard fails too lol
Never happened me before even if I press on power button very fast while the screen is on (screen goes off and on again).
I'm using swiftkeyx as my keyboard. So I feel fine for both.
Yep, happens every now and then to me too.
ya...happens once in a while...thought i was the only one though...
my phone started to do this a couple of days ago. (I was running JB) I went ahead and reset my phone back to stock ICS and the power button still needs to be pushed multiple times in order for the phone to wake up or turn off. I called Verizon and they are sending me a replacement phone.
It seems to be a general design issue with the power button. Because of the nature of that switch (it seems to rock a little) you have to press the button much harder if you press it on the ends. If you press it in the middle, the switch actuates essentially 100% of the time.

Back button too sensitive

I don't know if you guys have the problem. Sometimes when I hit the back button, it hits twice for me, resulting in unwanted exit of apps or two pages of backward on web browser. I encounter this everyday, not very often but annoying enough. Any one has the same problem or solution?

I get that feeling too, sometimes I dont even feel like I touched it when it goes back lol You'll get better at not touching it I guess. ^_^
I have just looked for a solutuon to this issue and decided to use on screen keys.

This link seems to be working fine but i can not completely disable the hardware keys and turn the lights off.

How I can disable annoy button?

Its really annoy. Menu and Search keep pressed for no reason. I left on desk and look, and menu and search keep pop and look like phone caught virus and play itself. I see my friend got phone with no button but button was on Screen UI. I want on my phone and disable damn annoy button. Sometime my phone "back button" keep pause on game or exit some app. My phone got bricked and tjagged because I was tried on Trinagle away then it sudden Home key hit when I click process.
There any way to disable button and use button UI?
Thanks, Sam
It sounds like you're dealing with the Phantom menu popup issue. It has been talked about here before. It appears to be a hardware defect that usually manifests when signal strength is low. Try turning off data.

You can follow my tutorial. Read the OP a few times to fully understand how to do it before you try it.
