Spigen Neo Hybrid - Warning! - Nexus 5 Accessories

The Neo Hybrid does not allow use of most micro USB cables. The height of the rubber grip is too great to fit in the opening. Of 5 existing cables and car cords, none are useable. The only cable I have that works is the one that game with the phone. I think I will return the case. Never had an issue with Seido and I think I will wait for the Seido Dilex (Active) with holster that they told me today will be out at months end.

Any pic of it?
the others say that the USB cable works well

My USB cable fits just fine with my previous chargers. My previous chargers being older phone chargers including Galaxy Nexus, N4 charger.
Stop using non-genuine chargers :/

This is an issue with most cases, when buying usb cables I always look for ones that have a similar sized micro usb end.

The height of the usb hole is about 7mm so if your usb plug is smaller than that, you should be good.

Do not have any trouble with any chargers I have

I also do not have any issues with any of my usb cables.

Mine is also going back for exact same reasons.

Same issue. Returning mine to Amazon.ca

all my chargers work just fine. all major brands no cheap ones.

my gripe with this case is that it makes the phone feel bulky, wide, and taller then it is supposed to be. holding it feels like a galaxy note or something. i need to find a thinner case that still provides a bit of protection. the search continues

What other cases are you looking at? I really like this case but yeah it can be pretty difficult to hold with one hand. I can do it but can't reach all places of the screen.
I was thinking about the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, maybe.

I was thinking about the ultra hybrid too. Want to stick to spigen for the case. But looks like the size of cutouts on ultra hybrid are same as the neo. Search continues.

i had a case similar to the ultra hybrid on my N4 and it was just ew lol. i just ordered a dbrand skin in mahogany for the sides/back so i may just go with that. the N5 naked is just beautiful.

Guess Motorola and HTC OEM's are cheap ones... my bad.

Maybe try TPU cases from Diztronic or Caseology? They're not fingerprint magnets, and they seem to hold up really well in drop tests (one I saw showed no damage to the phone with a pretty extensive number of drops)

Are they? ....... I know the Ringke Fusion isn't as thick but people say that the Spigen's Hybrid has better "quality" and feels better in the hands.
I like the Slim but it doesn't offer any protection on the top/bottom.

I've never seen any of those chargers so I wouldn't know but I've tried 2 Samsung OEM and 2 LG OEM chargers and they work fine. The Nexus 4 USB cable was pretty thick too on the port and fit fine.

Mine all work, they are just a tight squeeze except for the one that came with the phone. Neo Hybrid here.

My LG nexus chargers works fine, from Gnex, Nexus4 and Nexus5. Plus my girlfriends Samsungs works fine too. oh and even my HTC incredible one works too.

I have not problem with the case or the USB except the 3.5 audio jack the cut out is ridiculously small not all of your headphones will fit just keep that in mind. otherwise, it feels really premium.

Video Review: Incipio NGP case

Hi guys,
Got my hands on the NGP from Incipio, an awesome TPU case that offers good protection while keeping a slim form factor. It is comfortable, lightweight and cutouts on the case are spot-on. Watch the video review for all info.
Anyone know how it compares to SGP's ultra-capsule?

Yup, I've been sent the Ultra Capsule for review as well, the Ultra Capsule is a lot more flexible but the buttons are WONDERFULLY easy to press. The Ultra Capsule is glossy whereas the NGP has a soft touch backing, I like it better since it provides better grip.
Cutouts are a little better on the Ultra Capsule but overall both cases are great.
Another good video, thank you

I'm looking for such case... it seems to be parfect except this one little issue...
Its harder and lacks feedback but it means u dont accidentally change volume which is what i do when i dont use a case
The micro usb cut out is a little small but the oem cable and charger fit fine
However my blackberry micro usb cable cant fit in fully

Thanks for the vid. I bought the magenta one. Can't wait to receive it. Looks like it offers good protection and still manages to maintain a thin profile. A Win-Win case for me.
I like the Neo Hybrid too but wasn't too thrilled about the antenna cutout.
Just picked one up recently after purchasing a Casemate Barely There the day prior. Of the 50+ stores in my million + city NONE had them in stock. That is until I found the 51st retailer. FWIW I like the Barely There as well.
Overall a very good case. Same price point as the SGP Neo Hybrid, similar dimensions, etc... but higher quality. It's replacing a Neo Hybrid which suffered from the sag on the back side of the phone; I ran double side tape for a while, which worked, but then it pissed me off that I had to run double sided tape.
As much as I liked the Neo Hybrid initially, it wasn't worth the price IMO considering its construction, and sag issue. At the end of the day it costed more than the Incipio after factoring in shipping, etc... and it's not nearly as good. $25-30 isn't going to break the bank, but that's not the point.
Both: look good, are "economical", are slender, lightweight, and offer some protection.
The Neo Hybrid: would be a better case if it were priced at $15 and the rubber didn't sag after many heat cycles.
The Incipio: worth the cost, and much higher quality materials and build quality.
Caveat: This post will be updated if I experience any issues with the Incipio.
And yes, the power button is hard to press. I hold my phone with my left hand, and it takes much more force to press the power button with my index finger if I'm in one hand mode. Not as much of an issue for you right handers since you can use your thumb.
Curious if anyone has done "surgery" to the power button with a sharp knife? I'm thinking of making a small incision on either side to lighten up the action a bit.
Edit: micro USB port is "tight"; takes a little bit more force to attach the cable to the phone. It doesn't appear to alter the angle the micro USB enters the port however, so I doubt it will lead to charging port damage. Will see if it wears the case to accommodate itself before I break out the knife.
Can the power button be modified? Perhaps stick something inside the case to make the button more responsive?
Another question - has anyone tried the case with the Samsung 2000mah high capacity battery? It looks to me like the case would fit, but given how snug it is it may not.

Excellent cheap sync cradle for the T-989

I got 2 of these off eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG...159056?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f0f089010
They are meant for the "standard" (AT&T or International) GS2's but it fits my new T-989 perfectly even with the DIZTRONIC TPU case on it. It probably fits most any device with a bottom micro-usb port on it. It comes with a removable rubber adapter for smaller devices. Not bad for $11 from China. Got it in about 10 days. It's a knockoff of the iPhone Universal base. No audio out ports. Just sync/charge.

Ok, but that is $29 more than $11 and most people don't need a $29 battery and NFC is useless for the most part. Plus it doesn't work with a case. Other than that, GOOD DEAL!!

Can you post pics of your T-989 w/ TPU case in the dock?
Do you know if the USB transmits audio and if it has a back 3.55mm jack?
I ordered two of the Sinjimoru Sync stands. They're cool looking and lightweight. I removed the two lock tabs on the cable that make the cable stick in tighter. I'm planning on mounting them to something that won't lift up easily when I try to remove the phone. Overall, worth the $22.

The stand you are linking to doesn't charge or sync. That stand is just a holder with no connection directly to the phone. 2 totally different things with totally different purposes.

It fits my T989 with the Diztronics case no problem and will fit any similar "thinness" case. Snug, but no problem. I looked at the D30 case the other day and put them up against each other and while the left to right size are identical the front to back on the D30 is a bit more and my guess is it wouldn't fit. I was surprised when my Diztronic case fit but it did NOT need to be forced, just a slight push. For $11 you really can't go too wrong.

thanks I ordered one
They are still tight on the base, and would tip over if you pushed them. They're fairly stable, but it is kind of a pain to use one hand to hold the base grab the phone.
I did fix that today. I went out into the alley behind the loft and grabbed a brick. A few minutes after meeting the dremel and a little bit of epoxy, they're stable.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6233/6366960059_565143ef63_b.jpg
That's what the stands look like mounted to the brick, and in the Body Glove Diamond cases. I did play a little with some LEDs and lighting the bases up, since they're clear/black acrylic and the light travels through them. I'm going to hold off on that for now, but maybe soon.
to choking am a bit confuse on ur pic is that just a stand whit out the option of charging or a stand whit charger?
There is a cable that comes up behind the stand, and snaps into the stand. It charges, and I bet you could use the stand for other phones, but I can't guarantee that. I know it works fine with the T989.
Well thx for ur response ill see if i get my hands on one this on up coming week

Thin case?

Right now I have an otterbox but recently I've been taking my phone out of my case and it cuts the size in half. What options are out there for a case that won't bulk up my phone?
I've been thinking about trying one of those bumper style cases with one of those clear screen protector type things for the back.
I bought the original samsung ones: http://www.mobimega.com/samsung-efc...iginal-slim-case-twin-pack-for-galaxy-s3.html
there are 2 slim cases in the package (it's transparent, maybe a bit white). Costed me about 8€ for 2 cases. It's good, the only thing that bothers me is the place around micro USB port. If you have bulky cable or charger, the case prevents to plug it in to USB fully, and it's easier to slip out. But works. Really, no big deal.
I just ordered a dba tpu/PC case, I'll let you know how it is when I get it. I think otter box is about as bulky as you can get, really wish there was a lifeproof case for the s3.

Personally I really like the Spigen Ultra Thin Air series cases. They really add almost no thickness to the phone at all. However, I should mention they don't fully protect the top and bottom rims of the phone. If you're looking for a bit more protection, the Cruzerlite Androidified cases are pretty nice and very affordable.
The DBA thin grip is a good thin case that comes in 5 colors.

If the DBA ultra is a 2 part case the 1st layer is TPU and the outer layer is PC.
You can mix and mach the difftent colors for a custom look.

Get the Otterbox Commuter. It has covers for both ports, is a lot slimmer than the Defender and also keeps the shape of the One plus it still offers great protection. It also comes with a separate screen protector. I usually only get Defenders with my phones but I am loving this Commuter. It protects without taking away all of the beauty of the One.

[Q] Case that covers ports

Hey guys, I'm going to be traveling in a week and I wanted to grab a case that covers the ports just to be safe. I know otterbox usually has these types of cases but sadly they aren't making any for the N5. I looked through most cases on Amazon and all of them seemed to not cover the ports up. Has anyone come across one that does? Preferably under 30 dollars.

The Armorbox port covers suck, for lack of a better term. The TPS plastic doesn't serve well as port covers simply because the material is a little too rigid.
The Ballistic SG Maxx case however uses a silicone setup for the port covers. Works very well.

There are no otterbox cases for the N5 though.
Maxboost case purchased. I don't use the hip holster but the case is great for $9.99
Black case does attract lint but besides that covers all ports but leaves holes for the mic and 2 holes for speakers.
Surprisingly doesn't add much bulk despite the pictures looking like it does. In short I'm very happy from a fairly demanding customer.
I am however waiting for a Trident Case as a higher quality one with maybe some color. This is a great cheap option for people who want a decent quality case until the heavy hitters come out. :good:
