MMS not showing - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I am pretty sure this is not just a S4 issue but a T-Mobile issue. For the past week my wife and I have not been able to receive MMS (she has a stock rooted Note 2, I have a rooted S4 running Wicked v8). Every time a MMS is sent to us we just get this message “The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction”. We both have sent and received plenty of picture messages over the past year and have never had this issue until very recently. Did T-Mobile make an update to their APN settings? I am attaching screen shots of my current settings below.

The APN look correct. With both your phone and your wife's phone acting the same I would check with T-mobile.
What about the amount of SMS/MMS in your phone? Maybe try deleting some if it's full.

She has quite a bit, I have maybe 10 (I use hangouts for most everything).

Sending MMS (T-Mobile)

I have been using my Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile for almost a week now and have encountered a very strange issue that I have not be able to get to the bottom of. When sending MMS picture messages, regardless of picture size / quality, all messages appear to send just fine. However, depending on the recipient, the message either arrives just fine, no problems, or it is just a blank message! I have talked to T-Mobile support for hours today to no avail, as well as Samsung support also with no solution. I have tried changing my APN settings, adding MMSC proxy and port, and changing my device within the my.t-mobile.com settings and nothing seems to matter.
Here are my findings on what recipients receive the messages successfully and who receives a blank message:
Code:
Device Carrier Result
Galaxy Nexus AT&T Fail
HTC Desire AT&T Fail
Galaxy S II Skyrocket AT&T Fail
Galaxy Nexus Verizon Fail
LG Android T-Mobile Fail
HTC Hero Sprint Success
LG Optimus T-Mobile Success
iPhone 3GS AT&T Success
iPhone 4 AT&T Success
Is anyone else on T-Mobile USA experiencing this issue? And can anyone offer any solution?
I'm on T-Mo and I'm not aware of any issues, but I'll keep an eye on things...
It seems like I'm seeing something similar. MMS sent to T-Mobile recipients send fine consistently, but my girlfriend has AT&T and it fails intermittently. I haven't found the reason either, but interesting to see that someone else experiences this.
I've also seen this behavior with my Nexus S.

The only thing I've been able to determine is that it must be a result of T-Mobile + Galaxy Nexus. I actually didn't experience this issue with my Nexus S, and friends of mine using Galaxy Nexus + AT&T or Galaxy Nexus + Verizon do not experience this issue.
Updated original post to add confirmation that HTC Hero on Sprint successfully received MMS picture message
Are you running the stock MMS app? do you have one from the market, or a tweaked one from a ROM? maybe it is sending picture in an incompatible format....

Sorry, should have mentioned this in the original post:
Running stock ICS (4.0.2) no root with a locked bootloader
Using the stock messaging app and have not downloaded any replacement messaging apps. I had the same setup on my Nexus S before my GN and did not experience this issue.
I haven't noticed any issues yet, but I think i've only sent MMS messages to an iPhone 4 user and a Blackberry user on AT&T.
Just to add another couple data points...
I'm T-Mobile with my GNex at version 4.0.2.
When I send a picture to my wife's Galaxy S 4G (also on T-Mo), she seems to receive it fine.
When I send a picture to my mother's original Droid on verizon, she gets a tiny, thumbnail sized picture that only gets displayed for a split second before it disappears.
I have no issues receiving MMS pics from either phone.

Very interesting... I will check if my failed recipients are seeing a tiny thumbnail before it shows up blank as well
Thanks for the reply
Im using Apex rom and when I try and send a captured camera picture to a verizon customer I get and error. Something like service not activated on network. I think the picture size is too large for t-mobile MMS, as I can send a FFC picture just not a rear camera one. Any ideas on how to auto crop rear pictures, or how to fix this. OK just figured it out, if I lower the resolution when taking the picture it works, just would be better if the MMS program did it for me.

Text Messages (mostly MMS) not showing up for hours...

I got a friend of mine to switch from an iPhone to an S3 and he called me yesterday explaining that he is having trouble getting all MMS text messages ( and sometimes regular texts too). He eventually gets them but they are hours later. He is using Go SMS but the stock messaging app is not working any better.
I went through all my settings with him to make sure he was set up the same as I am and he was. So I cannot figure out why he is getting all his MMS texts so late.
Sometimes he gets a message that says there is a media download and gives and expiration time but there is no attachment with it.
Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same issue when I switched from iPhone to my s3.... Ask him if his mobile data is ON. if not the phone will not download the attachment even if on wifi the mobile data has to be on for it to work.
Also make sure his data plan has been changed to a lte plan.

Make sure that the date, time, and time zone settings are correct
I switched from the iphone 4 to the SIII and I too had this same issue.
My buddy who also had an iphone was trying to text me but I would get it hours late. Remember when Iphone users could start messaging each other without the cost of text? I have a strong feeling this was the issue. I actually didn't do anything to fix the problem, it last about 5 days and with enough usage of the phone I finally started to get my texts on time.

[Q] GN GSM JB T-Mobile MMS Problems

My wife has an Unlocked Galaxy Nexus with JB on T-Mobile's Monthly 4G service. For some reason, whenever she sends out a MMS message, the attached image either A: Doesn't arrive (which happens to me on my Skyrocket with CM9) or B: Takes DAYS to arrive (which happens to other people who use Android phones like the original Incredible and some Samsung phone that has a keyboard.) Like a good boy I searched here to see if other people had this issue, and it looks like there may be a JB issue with MMS stuff, but I couldn't find anyone that had the same scenario as she has. She has no problem receiving MMS messages, just sending them out. On my phone it shows that I received an MMS message, but it doesn't show any picture. On her end it looks like everything sent out fine. Anyone have any ideas as to what this may be? I'd prefer an option that doesn't require rooting the phone as she is not a power user and won't have any use for the benefits of rooting, but if it has to be done then so be it (maybe I could just unroot it after it is fixed.) Could this be an APN issue?
Not sure if this helps but I'd been using go sms pro ever since I first got my gnex and it delivers all pic messages perfectly, I just had to fill in the user agent. I know that t-mobiles network is picky about what size picture it lets your phone fetch maybe the downsizing of pictures slows down the whole sending of them?
I had a similar problem which I fixed by restoring the APN to default...

[Q] unreliable MMS on network

Hey guys,
I have since the beginning with this phone had issues with receiving MMS messages from other AT&T customers, I have not modified it whatsoever all stock APN and settings in that regard. I get a message with the pop up showing "downloading" and its a 32kb file it downloads the text they included with the mms, and shows it switched modes to MMS in the blurb around the text message in the messaging app, but no picture comes through, sometimes if they send it twice it will send the picture but not every time. Anybody else see this? any ideas?
Having same problem... I've tried resetting the apn (even though it's the default and hasn't been messed with) and I'm now using hangout.

Yes...
Always patchy on stock MMS...
If you have not cleared your caches in recovery since owning the device...you probably should...
Updates have occured ...and your caches may be dirty...
Also wipe the application cache in the app drawer frequently...g

Apparently I'm still having the same issue even with hangouts... :-\
Update: called the store and after tests it was concluded that the imei was incorrect so the store will be sending out a replacement.

[Q] MMS Messages not being sent..Note 3

Ok here goes...I have a rooted Note 3 ..I am running Jedi Elite...I just did the root and ROM on Monday ..As of Thursday I have been unable to send any MMS Messages, I can receive them, but when they are sent they show leaving the phone, but there is no Delivery, just says requested...I called ..Tech Support at TMobile, and they have the engineers on it after changing some settings and having me do a restart which did nothing for the problem..This morning the tech told me that other Note 3 phones are having this issue and had to be returned and traded in..
Has anyone had this problem with the Note 3? Could it have something to do with the Root or the ROM? I am really getting frustrated with not being ale to use MMS and this is the last resort...I was not sure where to psot this so here it is ...As far as I know as of this morning the engineers are still working on this problem...MMS Messaging worked fine until Thursday which tells me that it isn't in the programming of the phone...this is my first time rooting..so if anyone has any ideas on what might be going on I would appreciate it..thx in advance!
UPDATE: Just found out from a friend that MMS messages are going thru now, but phone is not showing DEL REPORT...meaning it is not showing hitting the tower or wherever they go ...I have del report req...always got one with the Note 2..
check your APN settings. I always change the default settings to: default, admin, dun, supl, mms. Ever since Hangout w/ SMS came out, I've never had to use the default SMS app again.
I have had this problem before. Are you running any ad blockers? Try disabling them and send MMS. It fixed it for me when I had this problem.

Having the same issue no one receives pictures I send them I disabled the ad blocker in hopes of fixing the problem
I was having random issues with mms only for a while. A restart usually fixed it, but I also started having regular network issues. The phone would connect to the tower, and I had data, but it was very slow, or would timeout. I tried to check the APN settings, and see that the stock ones are greyed out, and you can't edit them, so I added the old standard one, and now everything works perfect. Here is what I added in case anyone wants to know.
