first u should root ur phone, second if u use ntfs formatted pen drive,..u should use usb otg helper from google play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.shajul.usbotg&hl=en

I have an XPERIA M C1905 with root access (locked bootloader) and no additional Google Play Store apps for USB management and I can mount and manage USB devices.
I have used:
● Logitech Unifying 2.4GHz mouse/keyboard (no back or context menu buttons on mouse)
● USB SD card readers
● USB 4 port switch
● USB 7 port power hub.
● A range of USB flash-drives.
● A USB 2.0 320MB Western Digital HDD via a powered hub.
I can not connect my Canon PIXMA printer over USB using my Sony XPERIA M
I can connect over USB and print to the printer using my Sony XPERIA S.
I didn't knowingly configure anything to get the above to work nor did I add any specialised application to support the USB interface.

DIY OTG USB Host Cable (Keyboard and Mouse)

Few of these threads have been made, but not sure if anyone has shown OTG USB host cable work with USB dongle supporting a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I followed this scheme to connect the 4th pin ID to the 5th pin ground. The rest was very simple.
http://beyondthekeeboard.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/picture-50.png
Click bellow to see pictures of the USB bluetooth dongle connected via host wire with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse working flawlessly.

Let me know if you have any questions
I think there was a thread related to this matter already : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070573&highlight=otg
That thread doesn't use a bluetooth dongle. Instead, it uses the built in bluetooth feature of the phone to connect to a bluetooth keyboard and mouse without using the OTG host usb. That's why I wanted to try it this way and see if it worked.
OTG cable
If i use OTG cable for my NOVO 7 paladin(tablet with Android Version 4.0.1) or Xperia ARC(Android version 2.3.4), can it support to my external USB device(like printer)?

Why don't you want to use the built in BT? Surely then you can output to a big screen or charge the phone.

[Help] OTG cable problem

Hello, i have bought a OTG adaptor but when i connect a USB pen to my Sony Xperia S it doesn't do anything.
I have also tested:
- USB pen FAT32
- USB pen NTFS
I know that this adaptor is working because the store owner tested it on a tablet and it worked.
Stange thing is that i tried to connect to a zte blade, Galaxy Gios and nexus 7 and it didn't work as well....
However when i connect it to the computer the adaptor works...
Stock .55
No root
Can someone advise me?
Thanks
Root your phone and download USB OTG Helper from the Play Store.

I have many FAT32 USB flash drives that work fine with my XPERIA S no problems.
I have not confirmed this myself, but it is possible the amps provided by the Sony XPERIA S(LT26i) could be as low as 100mA.[citation needed]
Can't find any documented specs for XPERIA S and USB power supplied and/or USB flash drive which also has a known documented amp draw for reference.
I'd really quite like to know what amps the XPERIA S USB port provides.
I have a USB thumb drive that doesn't work on my XPERIA S namely the HP v165w 8GB (FAT32 formatted)
It just comes up with a big red warning triangle saying, "USB Power Consumption error"
However the USB thumb drive HP c330w 8GB does work (NTFS formatted)
Many other SanDIsk FAT32 formatted USB thumb drives also work fine. Namely the SanDisk USB 2.0 Cruzer Facet 32GB
I have downloaded Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ which allows me to successfully mount NTFS formatted flash drives on my root'd XPERIA S.
My 'Desktop' FV-1 Android box with three USB ports/HDMI etc, mounts anything and everything, including the HP v165w 8GB USB thumb drive. So it just means no two Android devices are equal in design and power.
it should work anyway? I've seen a few shots and youtube movies where the USB on-the-go was working on an XS!

Hope someone will Chinese!!!
Connecting U disk need to install a USB storage management software (the software requires root permissions and busybox). Insert OTG and USB flash drive's lights. Then click connect.
The USB file so that you can in SDcard \ usbStorage see.
You can also connect a hub so you can connect a mouse and keyboard like if you want to connect to a large power equipment, so that you need a powered hub. Strong practical ability, but also can directly plug in the power in OTG online peel.
this is what google translates for me! pretty weird to read like this. but maybe we can figure it out?!

In my honest option, I agree with SNYXPR, there should be no requirement for additional software on a standard build XPERIA S(LT26i) when using "supported" FAT32 formatted USB storage.
If the FAT32 formatted USB flash drive you have attached to the XPERIA S meets the power requirements you should be fine.
No software I know of is going to boost the power supplied by the MicroUSB port and at best, any application for USB storage is only able to support additional drive formats like NTFS etc.
I've had/have USB flash drives, Logitech Unifying Mouse/Keyboard attached without problems.
I've got a Galaxy Note Connection kit Model: DR03-S2 and that works fine and I'm able to read/write SD cards, MicroSD cards and USB flash drives using it without problems(one attached device in use at any one time).
If you go to the next step and use a powered USB hub, then a wider array of devices can be used with the XPERIA S as the USB hub is providing the power to connect the device. This includes USB printers and FAT32 formatted USB 80GB plus HDD (both IDE and SATA) etc. Also all those FAT32 formatted storage devices that said the XPERIA S did not meet the power requirement work too.
Remember the XPERIA S only support FAT32 formatted storage by default(natively).
As part of my desktop setup I have the following connection.
Sony DK10 dock plugged into a Aten USB switch which is connected to a powered USB Targus 7 port Hub.
This gives me access to USB mouse/keyboard, USB flash drives or USB HDD of any size, printer, SD card reader on my DELL U2410 monitor and etc.
Then it's just a button press to (USB)switch back to my Notebook, Desktop PC and any other device connected as part of my desktop environment.
Thank you for the replies, i think root is not required since i have seen a vídeo made by XperiaBlog that just connects a USB pen drive to Xperia S and it just works. I have tried a Kignston 8 GB and it doesn't connect, not event to nexus 7 ...

Xperia S 4.1 Jellybean LiveDock + USB on the Go

Hi, since the new jellybean update i can't hook my keyboard and mouse to the xperia s. I've been using the live Dock for this. But it doesn't recognize any input.
Can somebody try it with a standard usb-on the go cable?
Livedock is working, but it seems Mouse and Keyboard Support was dropped with Jellybean.
I always used my logitech mouse and keyboard combo and my xperia s as a media center.
Dropped? Impossible
I will check later with my keyboard and mouse, but I still have the mouse/trackpad speed setting in the language & input menu after updating to JB
UPDATE: Yeah, both keyboard and mouse work in JB using a standard usb otg cable. Must be a LiveDock thing.

What mouse and keyboard do you have? I'm using a Logitech Unified Wirless Keyboard and Mouse which worked on ICS with Livedock.
Is there any other solution besides the soyn livedock, to use keyboard and mouse while simulatenously charge the phone?

Live dock isn't recognized by the phone since the ICS Update, but i can use it to charge the phone while using a usb stick. The Phone now only rotates to landscape when the hdmi calbe is connected.
But its u bummer that my USB Keyboard+Mouse doesn't work anymore.
Sony DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station works just fine as I see it.
I have tested it on an XPERIA LT26i v4.1.2 with 6.2.B.0.200 ROM with DoomKernel v1 on the following devices:
Aten 4 port USB switch
SanDisk 32GB USB FAT32 flash drive
SDcard/USB card reader
Targus 7 port USB powered hub
Old Dell wireless keyboard
Logitech mouse(non-unifying)
USB non-powered hub.
WD 320GB HDD (FAT32) via Targus powered USB hub.
Canon USB printer
All the above work while powering the phone with one(only) storage device connected at any given time.
A lot of keyboards and mouse(s) may work too, including Logitech mouse(s)/keyboards... just not 2.4GHz Logitech Unifying receivers.
Logitech Unifying receivers and Sony 6.2.B.0.200 ROM do not seem to play well together at the moment.
There is a new firmware release 6.2.B.0.211 coming soon, so fingers crossed this improves things.
The reason I sound so hopeful is that the Logitech Unifying Receiver does show up as a connected device and it doesn't create an error in doing so.
@DooMLoRD did indicate he would look at what options are available to get the back and middle context menu buttons working again on mice, as they stopped working in ICS onwards. Respect, if he can pull that one off. :victory:
Could it be because you where using DoomKernel? I'm on locked Bootloader and Stock Jellybean. I don't have those Options like in your screenshot.

It is possible.
I know I checked my DK10 LiveDock using a leaked 6.2.B.0.197 ROM without any modified kernel and nothing worked with only an error.
I was testing my Unifying USB mouse at the time as I was hoping against all hope, it'd work and we'd have back and context buttons...alas, I was disappointed.
I seem to remember then, just plugging in a SanDisk 32GB flash drive directly into the DK10 LiveDock on it's one USB port as a sanity test and that worked on a leaked ROM(but I could be wrong).
So then I just ignored my DK10 LiveDock until the official Sony 6.2.B.0.200 ROM came out.
Under normal operation, my DK10 LiveDock is connected to an Aten 4-Port USB switch as the first hop which is then farmed out(when device selected) to over 15 USB 2.0 ports which only takes one port to have a NTFS storage device and the whole thing goes pear-shape.
As an aside @DooMLoRD has listed NTFS MicroUSB port support in his Kernel too.
So, before I installed DoomKernel v1.0 which was only minutes after I installed 6.2.B.0.200 I'd not isolated the DK10 LiveDock and done a controlled test.
I only did a controlled test after DoomKernel v1 was installed, that's why I have an eclectic list of devices which I have tested and seen to work with the DK10 LiveDock.
When I installed the next Sony 6.2.B.0.211 ROM I'll update this post with my finding on the DK10 LiveDock before I install DooMKernel as I too, would like to see the Logitech Unifying mouse/keyboard working.
Just tried using my mouse and keyboard with an otg adapter and yep it no longer works for me too. The phone doesnt even show an error it just does nothing
There is a huge list of growing bugs in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303276
Lets add our problem to that..
Sony DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station
As promised, I have installed Sony 6.2.B.0.211 with root access, BUT no DoomKernel at this time.
I have not even done the first reboot after installing
Sony 6.2.B.0.211 fw.
I am able to connect and use the Sony DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station.
The DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station also powers my phone.
The DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station is working with the following devices I have tested.
Aten 4 port USB switch
SanDisk 32GB USB FAT32 flash drive
Targus 7 port USB powered hub
Logitech mouse(non-unifying)
USB non-powered hub.
Directly connected to the DK10 dock, is an Aten 4 port USB 2.0 switch (which is display as a connected device) which is then connected to a Targus 7 port USB 2.0 hub.
As a giggle, an additional 4 port USB 2.0 non-power hub is just plugged into the Targus 7 port hub with a 32GB flash drive attached and that works.
I also have two Dell 24" IPS monitors with USB ports which all work in this melee.
This gives a combination of over 16+ USB ports connected/daisy-chained off the Sony DK10 LiveDock™ multimedia station and they all seem to be available.
Logitech 2.4GHz Unifying Mouse/keyboard still does NOT work!!!!
The Logitech 2.4GHz adapter is still shown as connected AND there is no noted errors related to this adapter when plugged in or removed.
Summary
With or without DoomKernel provided by @DooMLoRD the DK10 works and powers the phone on an XPERIA LT26i using Sony 6.2.B.0.211 fw.
Logitech 2.4GHz wireless Unifying adapters for Mouse/Keyboard still don't work.

what capacity btw?
When you connect a pendrive, usually either of 2 things happen:
1.) shows that external storage is connected, details can be seen in settings>storage, external storage. file access needs to be done using a file manager app.
2.) shows, device power consumption error. meaning, ur pendrive consumes lot of power than the phone can provide. solution to this is to use a new pendrive or thru a externally powered usb hub.
Its of 8GB. The phone doesnt show any sign of connected pen drive and even the external storage option in "storage" is greyed out
thanks

hmm, I dont c wat is wrong, try another pendrive, prefarably of a different model or brand and of smaller capacity.
else it shud be a problem with the cable.

You can use "StickMount" app to mount USB storage , incase your phone is not detecting the USB device. The only issues is that the app needs a rooted device. so if your mobile is rooted then you are good to go.
StickMount isnt helping either
try connecting a usb mouse and/or keyboard..
if it works, try a different pendrive, else then maybe u can blame the OTG cable or ur phone...
I made my own OTG cable using an old regular micro cable that I no longer needed. I believe you need to "jump" pin four to pin five....but you would be best researching it. I recall it being extremely easy to do, but then again I do have years of experience ripping stuff apart and putting it back together.
---------- Post added at 07:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:54 PM ----------
Also, I don't think drive size is an issue as I've connected a 2TB full size external hard-drive (the kind with a power brick) and was able to use it just fine. It was NTFS formatted so I did have to use USB OTG Helper to get it working, but it did work with no problems.

"Usb host mode" and "usb otg" are probably referring to the same thing, if this is what you are asking...
USB OTG
stamatis is correct.
I have an XPERIA M (C1905) with root access and a LOCKED bootloader.
My testing has shown the XPERIA M supports USB OTG and USB power charging, but not both at the same time[citation needed].
I have tested the following:
• External MicroUSB USB flash and SD card readers are supported directly attached to phone.
• My testing has shown MHL external connections don't work in the XPERIA M with Android 4.1.2 at this time.
MicroUSB port doesn't support power and data at the same time, which is a bad indicator.
• Sony DK10 Media Dock ONLY provides power. It can not provide USB data and power at the same time. Really means it doesn't work.
• Aten 4 port USB switch is supported †
• Targus 7 port USB powered hub is supported
• WD 320GB HDD is supported via a power USB hub
• Logitech USB Unifying mouse supported (sans back key and context menu on mouse) M950,M325 and M905 tested
• Logitech USB Unifying keyboard supported (Esc - Back and Alt-Menu - context menu) K800 and K400 keyboards tested
• The supplied microUSB power on the XPERIA M is greater than an XPERIA S, as I can mounted USB flashdrives on the XPERIA M which give a power consumption error on the XPERIA S. Still can't mount a USB powered WD USB HDD directly to the phone. You need a powered hub for that.
† - With the XPERIA M connected to an Aten 4 port USB switch it becomes one of four devices that can selectively use all supported USB devices connected in a desktop environment.
For me this feeds a Targus 7 port powered USB hub and a U2410 24" monitor with additional USB ports.
The SD/MMC card reader in the U2410 monitor is available too via the Aten USB switch too.
XPERIA M does seem to support higher powered USB 2.0 devices, but still draws the line before being able to directly support the likes of WDC USB 2.0 Hard Disk Drives.
