Rear camera lens protector - Nexus 5 Accessories

There are quite a few discussions about screen protectors, but what about the rear camera lens? since the crystal is specially big in our beloved N5 (and personally don't know if it's also made of Gorilla 3) I would like to protect it from scratches. I know some screen protectors include this little spot, but i ordered a Spigen one (didn't read about the bubbles issues before ordering it, so guess I'll have to ask for a replacement if it comes defective) so I would like just that camera protector, don't care if it's tempered glass or polymeric.

Check out dbrand skins.

I noticed my back camera has some sort of film protector, but I'm sure those peel off real quick, could you please link us to some that you have already tried and think are good?

I'm sure it will, I have also kept it but it doesn't cover the camera itself, only the outer cristal ring. Also, it is not a protector, and the manufacturer wants you to get one, hence the white part to easily peel it off.

Not what I was asking, those are embellishments which neither do cover the camera. I was talking about something like that (notice the circle on the left side of the image)

you're probably not going to find one to cover just that spot as it will likely be part of a set. so unless you make your own, probably better to just eat the ~$8 and get the screen protector kit (and throw away the screen protector). i haven't seen JUST the camera protector part

Hey guys! Not sure if it's what OP is looking for, but basically what we offer is a lens skin. It covers the glass (crystal?) portion of the camera and is just barely thick enough to raise the entire lens and protect it from scratches when you rest it on any given surface. While we don't currently sell the lens skin separate from the entire back skin, if you send us a PM we can work something out. We'd send you 14 lens skins, one in each style of material that is offered on our site (we don't offer any transparent materials). They're packaged together in a little baggie as seen below. If anyone is interested, PM us for details.

Imo think that would be a desirable product to sell since I can't seem to find it anywhere else. The look of the camera is so good I don't want to cover it up

If you just wanna cover the glass over top of the lens so you have clear photos, just grab a cheap screen cover and get a hole punch

I believe most manufacturers use sapphire glass for the cameras which are nearly impossible to damage... Only thing harder are diamonds.
It takes quite a bit of force to cause it to break and while gorilla glass may take more pressure before breaking it is much more likely to scratch than sapphire. Gorilla glass has a hardness of 7 and Sapphire has a hardness of 9. The only thing that can scratch Sapphire are things with a hardness of 10 such as diamond.

Review: iFeel Tempered Glass Protector

Today I received a package from Korea with iFeel screen protector. After unpacking, I saw a envelope green and white box with a photo iFeel Galaxy s3 and specification of tempered glass iFeel and the manufacturer's website (all in Korean) - www.ifeelglass.com .
At the front of the packaging has been specified specification:
a) Mighty screen protection (10H)
b) Screen crack prevention
c) Shatter-proof
d) Anti-scratch
e) Anti-Firgerprint
f) anti-bacterial surface
g) Secured durability
h) EAsy attachment with self-air-bubble-removal
i) Ultra-clear High definition
j) Perfect Performance of Touch Screen
(So says the packaging is that the glass is also resistant to acids, alkalis and temperature fluctuations). I did not wait for anything, and immediately sat down to check what is inside. Packaging of the two parties was covered with hologram seal manufacturer. When opened in the inside can be found:
a) iFeel glass packed with extra packaging, in which so much was quick installation guide.
b) small book manual
c) small microfiber cloth

After opening the package I took out my iFeel glass, which at first glance seemed to be quite thick and tight stiff. After a while I noticed that it is not so rigid as it seems. They can be slightly bent in different directions. I immediately noticed that the glass with a white frame (the ordered) does not cover the entire front of the phone and the cover a little more than my earlier part of the film's simple Puro. All holes (home button, sensors, front camera and light, and cut the letter "Samsung") have been precisely cut. I started the installation. That's what I always do when applying foil and other such things on the phone's screen is good infusions bathroom. In the steamy room dust particles do not "fly" to prevent build-up of dust particles on the screen (if formed micro-bubbles, etc.).
After misting the room I took off my previous film, I cleaned screen carefully and thoroughly with a cloth and installed the glass.
I can not remember when the last time I was able to easily put the film on the screen. The whole took a few seconds and a single air bubble dust or pollen. After applying I tighten glass with cloth that was included.
All very well be imposed. All holes are perfectly matched, nothing was hidden (like the pictures). After removing the protective film has a whole was not so thick. After application can be seen that the glass is thicker than the film (although it is just to protect). It looks very nice, nicely, only the home button is slightly recessed (industry purchase aluminum sticker case) but can easily push it. Sticker available on eBay for $ 5 should completely resolve the problem. Before buying, I read on the forums that the glass is almost identical (according to some people suspect the same factory) as the version of SGP tempered glass, which is also produced in Korea. People complained that the use of glass SGP is often a problem of sensitivity. Due to the layer of adhesive only on the edges of the sensitivity of the screen
deteriorated and many people gave up the security because of the comfort.
With glass iFeel not noticed this problem. When the screen goes to a finger as if the glass was not there. There are no problems with sensitivity, everything comes naturally, text messages you write very well. I'll report after a few days of use. Compared to the previous film, which I can see some significant improvement in terms of use. There is much less fingerprints as on a normal film, and above all, do not leave "rainbow effect" that occurs when standard films. For this one swipe with a cloth, and the whole is perfectly clean, as new sheet of glass. In the normal film you need a little work to a whole was clean. The same transparency seems to me like the film better. The screen looks the same as the SGS3 without film and slides.
In summary - for the very beginning I was happy with my purchase. I approached the glass skeptical because of the reviews of the similar product of SGP, but watching the interesting movie on Youtube I decided to buy one piece of iFeel. A significant improvement with respect to the film normal at the expense of slightly greater thickness (0.4-0.6 mm). My family members at first glance, did not notice that it is glass on display. When the phone is inserted into Slim Cover Case Samsung it looks very nicely. You can only purchase a sticker on the "home" button - not everyone has to like the feeling of touch without sticker. If a glass will proof his parameters like on Youtube, I can be considered as one of the best accessories for your phone.

thanks for the review, there is a few question I need to ask, can you confirm the colour part, is the paint work on the top of the glass or the bottom, I asked because I want a all clear one, and this is not available.
You did mention that the glass is acid resistant, so I was thinking of using some acid of some sort to remove the colour part, may be thinner.
that if the the info is true and add adhesive for full coverage.
If it turns out bad it's only USD 30 or something wasted, still considering this, sgp or xgear for this mod.
can anyone also confirm the paint work is on the top/bottom on the xgear or sgp.
thanks

Caseology Tempered Glass

Has anyone ordered one of these? I just did, ill review it when it comes in.
UPDATE: I got the "glass" screen protector in the mail today. Its just a flimsy cheap-o screen protector. Its nice in that it works, but skip this. I did make a video on the cool glazing/oleophobic coating google added to the screen. http://youtu.be/afEWMOpZcfk
Thanks! Just ordered one. The glass screen protector I have for my N4 cost me like $30 so this is a nice find. I love the protection without loosing that glass feeling while using the phone.

If I had to guess, I'd say this isn't glass like the more expensive Spigen ones. It shows as having 7 layers and it looks like only the PET kind of screen protectors are multi layers.

I purchased this screen for my S4 and my sis's iPhone 5c. I thought the products were glass because they are rated at 6h, but they are PET plastic. What upset me most is that the s4 screen came as a different branded package (pictures included). That said, both screens attached fairly easily, no bubbles and no rainbows. They are cut to the exact size of the screen so there is barely any room for error. Added a spigen slim armor to my s4 and the screen fits perfectly with my case. No bubbles, unlike adding my sister's iPhone case. The feel of the screen is good, not quite as smooth as the original glass screen, but much better than the other cheap plastic screens on Amazon. The top screen cutout shows all the sensors and led. I'm happy with the purchase so far,I only wish they were more clear about the material and the packaging.

to be fair, the product in the link you provided doesn't mention anything about "tempered glass" in the description like the one in the OP. it also details only a 4-layer screen protector, unlike the 7 advertised in the OP.
but i also can't say for sure it's real glass either. dafuq is "tempered glass film?" and i also don't see a cutout for the earpiece speaker at the top. it's probably an error in the render, but you never know. these were on sale before any customers even received their phones.

You are (were?) correct when you say that the item from my link did not say tempered glass yesterday but I just checked again and it does mention it now. It looks like they updated their images and it also shows that is it 7 layers, just like the item OP linked.
I was hoping this would actually be glass at such a cheap price. I would have picked one up too.
EDIT//
It looks like the same question was asked and they replied. But what the hell is tempered glass film? It's either tempered glass or it's a film (PET).
Q: Can you please confirm if this is made of real glass or plastic? I see references to both "tempered glass" AND PET film.
A:This product is made of Temper glass film with 7 layered technology. This is the new technology for temper glass in the marker, which protects your screen from shattering. If you have any further inquires, please email us back at our customer service email. Thank you.

It's simple - "You've got a screen made out of tempered glass? We've got a film to cover it." Don't know why that isn't obvious from the product's name.

If you're not going to be using a case, be sure to get the 'R' model with the rounded edges; the normal one, with squared edges and without a case protecting those edges, is far more susceptible to chipping.
I'll never go back to a film protector again. Tempered glass is more expensive, true, but it lasts far longer (it will be pristine after several film SP's have degraded due to normal wear and tear), is as invisible as possible, has greater clarity, allows more light through, has no rainbow issues, orange peel effect, stretching.... and it feels exactly like the original screen.

it was actually me who posted that question. and i agree - it's either glass or PET, not both. perhaps something isn't being translated correctly?
regardless, i think i'm going to hold off on this one. $9 bucks would have been nice, but i'd rather pay a little more for real a real glass screen protector
Just ordered one because of the price. Thanks for the heads up.

[Glass Screen Protector][TRUGlass]Cruzerlite Glass Protector Thread

This is literally a copy+paste from my post on Google+ find that one here with lots more photos - https://plus.google.com/103184848438617607889/posts/eg5ALeSq6uG
So I've been super busy these past few days but I wanted to share with everyone something I got for my #Nexus5 from +Cruzerlite ... This is _my_ mini-review of the Cruzerlite #TruGlass screen protector and a mini-comparison with MIMEUSA's Ghost Glass...
*Initial remarks*
At first glance you can see that its a very nice quality protector... Unlike the +MIMEUSA #GhostGlass I had on my phone previously, this one is flexible glass and not just tempered glass... Both are made of actual glass but the MIME glass is more rigid and doesn't bend much at all... From what I hear, the TruGlass is made from the same material that the Samsung Round and LG GFlex screens are made up of... So its quite flexible but not flimsy like a normal plastic screen protector would be...
*Installation*
Installation was mostly easy because I followed the directions even the hot shower to grab any loose dust lol... When installing, its probably best to peel back the whole plastic film on the application side and reattach it about 2/3 or 1/2 to the glass... This will help you center it easier w/o having to lift it off once the glass is down... once its on there, the bubbles are easily squeezed out with some light pressure to each area with them... Installation done and you're ready to enjoy
*First Impressions of it installed*
I was immediately not happy with it and I'll tell you why... I have self-diagnosed OCD and I like for things to line up perfectly... This is why I prefer Cruzerlite vinyl skins and their precise fit as opposed to DBrand skins which leave huge gaps on the edges and even side pieces… But my main gripe with this protector was that it didn’t go all the way to the top/bottom/left/right edges… I contacted Cruzerlite and they assured me this was intentional to ensure perfect fit with their cases… I was initially not happy with that answer considering I’m a minimalist person who doesn’t like cases covering up the beauty of my phone… Then I decided to actually try them with their cases and placed the order to which they shipped REALLY fast considering nothing really happens on the weekend for most businesses…
*Impressions with Cruzerlite TruGlass + Cases*
WOW, such a great fit and makes perfect sense with the way the glass is cut… No issues installing the cases and its a very nice/snug fit on the phone…
*Final thoughts*
I’m not as unhappy with the screen protector as my initial impressions and in fact its hardly noticeable without a case on the phone and certainly not noticeable with a case on the phone… I can’t judge on lasting quality but I can say its a great buy if you’re looking for a glass protector that doesn’t have too much added thickness and one that fits well with cases…
*Recommendation*
BUY IT NOW!!! lol http://goo.gl/WZU9ua
On with the pics of this all
Oh and the one shot of just the glass with a brown background shows a lines up comparison of #TruGlass vs #GhostGlass

Does it protect against a drop or something? I can't see this piece of glass preventing the screen from shattering.

yes, in the OP is a link to the post with pics of it installed with the case!
Flexible glass ?? Couldn't find any endurance/drop test reviews. So I'm doubtful on their ability to provide shatter protection for the screen if dropped. Personally I think a good tempered glass protector or something like a Rhino Shield would be a much better option for $30.

true but its still glass lol... did you see the video of the LG G-Flex literally bending flat? that's also glass and it bends... did you see that new Samsung TV that bends at the push of a button?
point is, just because it bends doesn't mean it doesn't provide protection...

Here is a video review of truglass
Mine arrived in the post yesterday, I fitted it today.
This thing is certainly a premium product, it feels and like there's not even a screen protector fitted. Only if you look carefully by the ear piece you can see it. Its so smooth and its really nice to touch, slightly expensive but we will see how it fairs against the test of time. I used an invisisheild before I don't think I'll be using those again, its a floppy sticky bit of plastic.
My only small gripe with this is there a few tiny tiny air bubbles I can't seem to get out with the squeegy and I can't see any dust particles in there. Il try and add a photo later

Has anyone used these without a case? I'm wondering if the edges are less prone to chipping if they don't go all the way out to the edge of the phone

Same here. I'll be interested if I can use a glass and be case free? Do these glass protectors protect from the main glass actually breaking?

I think so, because it's only 0,3mm thick.
How is it holding up so far? Are the edges of the protector lifting up, because of the X's curved screen?
I read that Mocolo and Frosmall are fingerprint and oil magnets, how's this one?
Does it fit good with the TPU case that came with the phone?

I don't know how it works. But the edges are not lifting up, see my pictures.
Is this 2.5d? From the ebay description it doesn't look like it. Are the edges of the screen protector sharp or rounded off?

Than it's 2.5D because it's a little bit rounded off.
But isn't the original tempered glass and the other ones made not to cover the entire screen for a reason? For example - the edges of the protector lifting up after some weeks of using it? I cant belive that they are made that way by a design error, or not?

I have no idea mate why the original tempered glass is ****ed up. But with this glass, you have no bubbles or liftings in the edges.

Hi OP,
I have ordered this one. After trying a few, all of which failed this one should work, this one is better anyway b/c it pretty much covers the front (as opposed to the others e.g. official/nillkin).
Should arrive around the middle of March, can't wait! :fingers-crossed:
Edit: BTW how was the application process, easy/difficult? Any issues I should be aware of?
Just got confirmation that my white version of this screen protector arrived, ill post pictures when i get around to installing it (might wait due to the glass screen protector i have on is still good enough to use for a bit longer so dont want to waste it lol)

Hi. No they're no problems with the application process. I don't know why, but you don't need to prune or push bubbles away with your fingers or a card, because after it was launched on the screen you don't see air under the glass.
The delivery time is not as long as described, the package arrived me after 2 weeks.
Alright screen protector but the white color has some visible bubbles in the white (can see in pictures) and the screen protector has a black border that covers a small small amount of the screen, but other then that it fits good and covers most of the screen unlike others but if I get it again I'm going with the black colored one.
(Also i got mime off of Amazon through prime)

OnePlus 8 Screen Protector

MOD EDIT: Spam ads removed
My OP8 came with a screen protector attached and I've put on (for now) the case that was supplied. Does the camera itself need a protector? I've never had one before.

I bought a few screen protectors for my OnePlus 8 and this is the only 1 that worked correctly with no bubbles. For the price paid I received two film screen protectors, one clear carbon fiber like back protector and two camera lens protectors. because it makes the phone look stunning. The camera lens do not feel like glass but rather plastic, but they have not impacted my photos so they are ok. The screen protector film is unbelievably easy to apply with the provided kit and works with the fingerprint scanner.I would highly recommend it!:good: The video that comes with this product is perfect. Took out all the guess work from other sellers.

Hi David,
you recommended the screen protector above for about 5 weeks.
What do you think about this protector after this period of time?
Was the purchase worth it?
Thanks in advance for your answer

I got this screen protector based off his review after trying another screen protector that was absolutely terrible.
I'm my opinion the installation process alone makes it well worth it. Makes it virtually impossible to misalign it. Add that it comes with a rear glass and camera protector and it was a no brainer for me.
As far as the screen protector itself, to me it feels like a thick, soft plastic. Almost like I can dig my nail into it and pick at it if I tried. But it feels just fine for normal touch inputs and doesn't interfere with the display quality.

(The original protector is a kind of dust magnet)

I've only been using it for about a week now and so far it feels like it will last a long time. The sides are flush with the curve and doesn't look like it will lift anytime soon. However I forgot to mention that 2 screen protectors come packaged so If this one ever starts to lift or get damaged in any way, I have a replacement.
I know it doesn't have the greatest reviews, but I had success with it and I think it's one of the best film protectors I've tried.

Hello, It seems good, but is the screen protector really efficient compared to a tempered glass? I'm hesitating between this one and an UV tempered glass like Foluu:

If you are just wanting a screen protector and not necessarily a glass one check out the LK screen protector. Super easy to apply, case friendly and feels as good as glass as far as your finger is concerned. Best film screen protector I have used yet.

The issue is always the same with plastic protectors: they will not prevent the screen from shattering when the phone falls. With a glass protector, you have a much greater chance of not having a damaged screen.

I am also a Spigen Tough Armor user.
I would also like to know what will work best with this case.
I had one on it, but it didn't work well with the case and kept lifting at the edges where case meets up to protector.
Any ideas anyone?
Currently installed a nillkin screen protector, it's glass, full adhesive, responsive, good oleophobic coating and feels like the actual screen (fingerprint unlock works, maybe 10% slower)
It comes with an installation template to fit the screen protector perfectly aligned (kinda like a case)
It's also full screen and covers the front facing camera, sensors work perfect . The only thing is it covers maybe 0.1mm of the sides, very very minimal and hardly noticeable it's actually nicer haha
Will post some pics soon, it's a great protector!
I need something that won't lift when I put my case back on... Still struggling to find something
