Black Friday Deals? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Does anybody have any dirt on black friday deals? I'm looking to switch to T-Mobile with the Note 3, I almost pulled the trigger yesterday but decided there will probably be something for black friday. But then again, it looks like a lot of black friday ads are already out... I'm not seeing much for T-Mobile. THX!

Check tmo-news.com and amazon, there most likely to have the best news and deals as black Friday approaches.

I'm also looking for one. For some reason it seems like nobody sells N900T (Amazon, BestBuy, PriceGrabber only carry "A" version).
The only place is T-Mobile store but $48 off expired on October 9th...

That's because T-Mobile doesn't subsidize phones anymore. There's no incentive for Amazon, Best Buy, etc., to sell T-Mobile phones.

T-Mobile is going to have something for Black Friday We just don't know what it is yet. I work in a Corp Store as a RSA and the Stores new Customer Act goal that day is double what a normal day is so there is something just no clue yet. Keep a eye on www.Tmonews.com they get updates way before the day of the sale.

Haven't looked but this URL just popped up in my email from Samsung.
http://www.samsung.com/us/blackfriday
But there is no Note 3 stuff there.

Geez it's killing me. I could go and get it tomorrow, but I have to pay the $200. So I missed the $0 down and it's still unclear if/what there will be for black friday..
What happens if I buy it this friday (11/15) and later find out that there is a $0 sale or something. Will they honor it? I'll be within 14 days.

Probably not you'd be breaking contract. Look at it this way with $200 down your monthly payments will be lowered.

You can return it but there is a $50 restocking fee that will not get waved because of not knowing about the sell. Even if you buy it the day before a sale T-Mobile doesn't care. Its your fault for not waiting. Most likely it is a $0 down sale. Maybe something else but not sure at this point. If $200 is to much up front for u, I would wait it out.

Theres a Tmobile MGR on slick deals who just set me up with 0 down, and gave me $150 port credit x2 for my lines.. 2x Note 3..

Is there any way you could send me that managers contact info? I'm looking to move from Sprint and that sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

It doesn't matter the system charges it, yes a manger can remove it but you have you get the manger to do that. Only way that is going to happen is if you say buy the phone the day before then come back and play dumb. If you buy the phone weeks before the sale you will be out of luck. You might as well wait. It isn't like 2 more weeks is going to kill you.

I just returned from the store - not even a penny off
$704 + local tax gonna kill me! $199 deal does not save anything - you are still in for the full amount just stretched for 2 years.
BTW all T-Mobile phones are made in China, AT&T version phones are made in Korea - how come?

Ya, $0 down isn't really a black Friday deal- its just paying full retail over the 24 months. I just as soon pay $200 up front and have them discount the price by $100-$150.
$0 for the Note 3 is like what- $29.50 a month. I don't know if the whole no longer subsidizing phones for a 2 year agreement thing is really a benefit to customers. Maybe the model would have worked well a few years ago when prices for the top end phones hovered around the $500 mark. Not to mention that, before they were subsidized this wasn't a source for revenue, because it's not like they are turning around and selling it to us at their cost or say cost +5%. You are essentially getting still locked in to 2 years to pay it off, so you can't get a new phone faster with paying quite a bit more with Jump, and your looking at $25-30 a month added on for their top end phones, plus $10 a month for jump, and if you do upgrade early you have to again put down $200 or so up front, your 24 month payoff cycle starts all over, and you have to turn in your previous phone so you can't sell that to cover a good chunk of the cost.
Add that all up and your right back at the monthly cost of the higher tier ATT and Verizon plans easily.

If you actually keep the phone for 2 years you aren't saving anything. But if you trade it after 6 or 12 months you are saving money. As to whether JUMP is worth it is another topic. I get my phones insured, so $2 extra is worth it to me for JUMP.

So here's how you save money:
$200 down + $21 per month x 6 months = $326
$0 down + $29.50 per month x 6 months = $177
$200 down + $21 per month x 12 months = $452
$0 down + $29.50 per month x 12 months = $354

The main problem with those expensive new gadgets is that they are getting obsolete fast!
I'm sure Note 4 or 5 is already in works and is due around Spring-Summer of 2014.
By that time you'd still have to pay for your obsolete Note 3 for 1.5 more years.
The only money-saving option is to buy previous-generations devices (Note 2 in our case). Not only it's "fully researched" but it's also dirt cheap. Is it attractive - I don't think so...
I don't see where the calculations came from and how you save the money, as of this moment it's:
$200 down + $21 per month x 24 months = $704 EVEN STEVEN
No interest for 24 months is the only benefit.

Maybe I wasn't clear. The idea is that if you plan to trade in your device after 6 months or 12 months there is a savings to be had with the $0 offer. So my calculations were the amount of money spent on the device after 6 months and after 12 months.
So for example lets just say you want to trade in your Note 3 for a Note 4 twelve months from now.
With the $200 down option you would pay as follows:
$200 down + $21 per month for 12 months = $452 spent on the phone after 12 months. Then you trade it for a Note 4 and start the process over
vs
$0 down + $29.50 per month for 12 months = $354 spent on the phone after 12 months. Then you trade it for a Note 4 and start the process over, except you spent $98 less

[Q] T-mobile noob needs buying advice for GN2 -- pay full price?

Howdy,
Noob here, looking to get a Note 2, but need a little advice to make sure I'm not overlooking something.
Background:
I currently have a Galaxy S II that is way too sluggish and frustrating (was my first smart phone, purchased a year ago).
I’m with T-mobile on their “value plan” and have about a year left on my contract. I’ve been with them for over 10 years.
Options:
Is my only option to pretty much pay for a Note 2 at full price ($650)? I cannot find any deals online for a SGH-T889. The guy at the T-mobile store said it wouldn't even make a difference if my contract was up or not -- price for the phone would be the same. Wow.
Any ideas?
I suppose I could try to call their customer retention line but I feel like they are not going to do much for me, since I’m pretty powerless – being locked into a contract with a year left. I really don’t want to leave T-mobile anyway.
The only other thing I can think of...: It sounds like there is probably going to be a rebate sale on Valentines day, but there are no details out yet – just grand speculation that there's going to be a big sale. Does anyone know if to qualify for one of their rebates, you typically have to be out of contract? I'm guessing "yes".
I also looked on craigslist and eBay for used Note 2s, but apparently people think they are made out of gold – barely discounted. For the price they are asking I’d just rather purchase new.
Thanks for the help.
-Nate
first of all, you ask in the wrong section because this is General section...your question should be in T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting Section
"The guy at the T-mobile store said it wouldn't even make a difference if my contract was up or not -- price for the phone would be the same." i think this isnt right because as a value plan customer you have the right to upgrade your phone anytime and when your 22 months is up you will receive discount to upgrade your phone with lowest price.
i get my note 2 for only $180 with renew 2 years contract at a retail store. you should try to check the price around those retail stores.
Thanks man.
You get a deep discount at the end of your contract and you are on a "value" plan? Or are you on a "classic" plan?
Regardless, if I don't want to wait that long, I'm pretty much stuck paying full price, right?
PS -- Sorry if this was the incorrect area; feel free to move post
Value plan you pay full price with money up front then $20 payments a month after.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I ran into the same thing. On the value plan, you pay retail, but in payments. So you would probably have 200-300 down and 20/mo if you have the available credit on your account. You can upgrade anytime, price is always the same. I am on prepaid ($30/mo 5GB is hard to beat if you don't want lots of minutes). I did the math and figured that I would break even paying out of pocket full price in less than a year. That's worth it to me to save up for a while. At the end of the day, it's up to you. I'm loving the Note2, excellent device. Even better if TMO really does drop LTE as fast as they plan to.
They are just trying to boost there sales rate for personal promotions thats why I hate tmobile sales man they always try to push you into something ur not sure about well just look into it buddy
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Even with the payment plan, you essentially just pay full price for the phone. There's another option though. You could try going through craigslist or ebay if you trust them. You would save a little plus tax but the down side is that they could report the phone as missing. But in my experience of buying phones off craigslist, or never happened to me. You just have to find a reliable seller. I bought my t mobile note 2 off CL around 2 weeks ago for $400 brand new in box. The seal was still on the box and I tried my sim to make sure it worked and it did. If you go through ebay, you would have buyer protection though ebay, so if anything goes wrong you could dispute with ebay. Buying from ebay would also allow you to buy insurance for your phone through a third party. Square trade is a good company to get the insurance from.
natesi,
The Tmobile rep was right, you are going to more or less pay full regardless of the timing of your purchase. You are on the "Value" plan, pure and simple, its a service only plan and its bare bone. Other plans allows you to get a discount (subsidized priced) phone, but the trade off is higher plan prices.

That's not correct. Phones are not subsidized on Value Plans. On a Classic Plan, yes. Value Plans require you pay full price for the phone - half down, and $20 a month.
I got a quick question im on tmobile sold my tmobile s3 I haf first got on contract with tmobile and now I got a note 2 just a few weeks ago used but like new I had callef tmobile about my payments and they seen my sim was registered as a note 2 the rep on the phone said by the way u have a great phone the note 2 is awesome well the bottom line is the phone is absolutely clean esn and imei since im using I with tmobile 4g $70 wanted to know if tmobile would let me get the unlock code for my note or do I have to wait a few months ive been with them since august of 2012

Im on a classic plan and was 18 months into my contract and they ended up giving me the note 2 for 200 w/ 1 free month back in October. They call it an early upgrade program
Ops sorry guys that was my mistake I was confusing between value plan and classic plan and as i checked my status im on classic plan so thats why I got the phone for cheap price xP

if you can wait a few months to see what the gs4 and gn3 are about may be a good idea?
Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the feed back -- it helped a lot!!! Seriously.
I went into the T-mobile store (again) and asked about the upcoming Valentines Day sale. The sales associate said that to get the rebates you don’t normally have to be out of contract – you just have to *extend* (renew) your contract.
I’m not sure if he is correct or not, but I HOPE so.
Last year, they were giving a couple hundred off phones (with rebates), so although it will be really painful to wait longer, I think I will hold off until I find out what kind of deals they are going to have on the Valentines Day sale.
Unless, that is, I can find a good deal on one sooner. I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

Hmmm... I was thinking about that...
The GS4 is expected in the US around the end of April/May, right?
And the GN3? I was thinking around Sept - Dec release, although I just saw these articles, stating possibly at the end of February (???). That seems insanely soon though, for a phone that just got released not too long ago. Or maybe not?
I'd show you the links I'm referring to, but I'm being blocked from doing so because I don't have 10 posts yet (lame).
The other thing is, the Note 3 will supposedly have a 6.3 inch screen?! Doesn't that seem a tad on the too-large side?
How credible do you think a February-ish release date is for the Note 3, and how soon before it goes on sale in the US, you think?

He was correct. Any of the T-Mobile sales are for existing and new customers. If you're on value, you can just buy it on EIP (payments) and still qualify for the rebate regardless of contract tenure. I'd put my money on $0 down after rebate being the sale for V-Day.
hmmm.... I just saw a Samsung Galaxy "next big thing" Super Bowl ad/video on youtube.
What could they possibly be announcing besides the Note 3, if that is suppose to ship before the S4?

Why would the GN3 ship before the GN4? the GN2 is not even 6 months out yet. The GN3 is approaching a year. My guess is this rumor is actually caused by the note 8.0 which will likely be made official at MWC.

Boy do I hope that's true. I passed on the Christmas Sale because it was only $100 down and not $0 down. I'm holding out hope that the V-Day sale goes down to $0. If not though, they will surely at least match the Christmas sale with $100 down. I think I'll pull the trigger at that point. There will likely be another sale for the Value Plan only transition, but I don't know if I can wait that long.

Yeah, I know it is weird that the Note 3 would come out so soon -- I'm just going by what I read in a few articles yesterday.
LIke I said, I cannot post links yet -- not my fault -- I don't have a high enough post count.
Here's how you can find some articles that talks about the possible unvailing later this month:
Google "Note 3 release date"
Click on the first news article from PC Tablet "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Date Could be at Mobile World Congress 2013!"
Then maybe the fourth result down by Trusted Reviews, "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours point to 6.3-inch octa-core handset"
And others...
Google customizes search results so your ordering may be different than mine, but you should be able to find those articles with the info I have specified.
It's all speculation of course.
But what would Samsung Mobile be running an expensive Super Bowl ad for, with major celebrities??? What could be that big -- seriously? The SIII is too old to be pushing so hard. What else could it be?
I guess we'll find out on Sunday.
But man, it is taking every ounce of strength I have to not go buy a Note 2 right now.

What are you paying for your Galaxy S4?

My phone was free, 24 month contract, I can upgrade at 18 months, I pay 35 pounds a month (55 dollars) for unlimited texts, unlimited minutes, 3GB of 4G internet, unlimited of that BT wifi **** (I don't know if that is a thing in anywhere but the UK). My phone is on Orange, but this is the closest board seeing as in the UK Orange customers get access to T-Mobile's services for free. I just wanna know how good I did.

$377.25 - to get the S4 ($329.99) + initial charges ($47.26).
$300.00 - to pay off the rest of the phone (or I could've done +$12.50/m for 24 months.. but why?)
$081.99 - monthly bill ($50 unl. talk/text, $20 unl. 4g, $11.99 device protection, $0 wifi calling).
$000.00 - for activation.
Got mine on May 1st, instantly happy with my decision - I barely got 3G speeds via Sprint's E4GT, and
I was paying ~$125 for that bull****. Several Sprint rep's came out and just told me to go to South Florida,
Texas or Tennessee if I wanted to see better 3G (or even 4G!) speeds. I got a lot of dropped calls and
failed text messages (sent and received), horrible. I got $25 off my bill for five months, woo. :\
Awaited the S4 release on T-Mobile, jumped on it April 30th, got it the 1st, have been enjoying the phone
and 4G service since. Don't even care I spent nearly $1,000 at the beginning of the month.

We'll see. Though I have played around with the Nexus 4, I have to say there are quite a bit of Samsung apps/features that I enjoy using. I still see Google devices as benchmark devices to show off what the Android OS could do. Some people will find the cheap, no-contract pricing attractive. For me, there are still certain appeals of having expandable storage and replaceable battery that I like.

150 plus 50 in tax, 200 down payment
Since I am on their classic plan, the 20 a month is included in my phone bill. So in essence, I paid 200 bucks for this phone.
$149.99
-$50 ebates rebate for new service
-$50 T-mobile port rebate
=$49.99+39.37 tax = $89.36
If it's a REALLY bad ebay auction I'll get $300 for my S3 plus accessories after fees.i plan on putting that money straight into the device payment.

=$49.99+39.37 tax = $89.36
If it's a REALLY bad ebay auction I'll get $300 for my S3 plus accessories after fees.i plan on putting that money straight into the device payment.

ebates.com which is an awesome site to get cash back everywhere online, is running a deal with T-mobile.com for $50 cash back on new lines. T-mobile doubled that by porting my number over from AT&T and giving me another $50 in a MC gift card. I tried to let people know to sign up for ebates before the launch, but only a couple of people seemed to take me seriously.
Note: For some reason ebates list my purchase amount as double what I spent, but I only got 1 GS4.
Just paid $681 for S4 no contract anymore and bill is much lower!
i payed $150 down and around $55 in taxes for the total amount of the phone. and im supposed to pay $20 a month for 24 months. im paying 50 a month for the line, no contract. no activation fee. :highfive:

GS4 @ $99 down + 10% off on bill

Wanted to share this T-Mobile flyer - GS4 @ $99 down + 10% off on bill + no activation fees. You have to call customer service to activate and mention association with Student rate.
thanks! i'll be using that promotion i was just now about to add a line to my account...

What do you mean by "mention association with Student rate"
can you explain it a little more? i got the galaxy s4 a day before the price dropped to 99$ can i still get this discount on my phone? like a 50$ card or something and the 10% off
Wish &^*%(% TMo would make up their mind.
Right after its release they told me that their days of discounting a phone with a contract or extension were gone forever when dealing directly with them, but for now, third party vendors were still being permitted to so. Got mine from Costco because of that.
Is this with contract, or is it the prepaid thing. I have been waiting for the S4 to become $100 with data plan. We use the data and I don't see myself canceling the contract so paying $100 for the phone with data seems like a better deal to me than paying $600 plus data for the phone. Does this also include activation fee and if so, can it be waived? How much is one paying with this deal.

Just picked up a Galaxy S4 yesterday at T-Mobile. $99 down (plus tax on the full retail cost of the phone - $579 at the moment) brought me up to about $146 at the store and a promise of $20/month for 24 months. Is it just me or does it seem a lot more expensive to get a phone through T-Mobile these days?

Per my earlier post - yes. Go to 3rd party vendors. Walmart just advertised $199 with a $50 gift certificate . That would be new line or two year extension - no $20/month BS.

No. You're basically buying the phone outright, but for $99 down with the remaining 480 spread out over 2 years with no interest. If you were to buy the S4 outright at AT&T or Verizon, etc. then you'd have to pony up the total $579 right then and there.
Can't find any info on this, so anyone with personal experience: Can you take this deal if you're on the $30 pre-paid monthly plan? T-Mobile just posted a simaler offer on their Facebook page today....
did this expire?
Still think you are not getting it folks or I am missing something.
Why buy from TMo when you can get a much better deal elsewhere (unless you would not be eligible for the two year extension requirement and you don't want a new line)?
I was eligible but TMo would not deal - they even suggested I go elsewhere for the phone which I did. Then I sold my Note 2 (too big for my pocket - especially on my bike) for over twice what I paid for the S4..

Yeah, but the way the plans were before, you could pay the up front cost of the phone, sign a 2 year contract, and either get the phone without much additional cost with the plans you intended to keep anyway, or pay a $200 ETF which in this case would put you completely out of contract with a Galaxy S4 for $299. With the way things are now, you pony up an extra $280 over the course of two years (or up front, or at any point in between up front and two years) to reach the same state you could have reached for $299 + tax + activation before.

Guys, its basically the same thing. The only difference I see is that before this change happened, if you knew you were going to be in a two years contract and it didn't matter to you, you could buy the phone for $199. Now you just have to buy it full price.

You are basically right as to buying it from TMo. My point is don't - you could get if for $199 with 2 year extension but now this is down to $149 elsewhere.
TMo said they will be reining in the third party sellers soon so they can't do it anymore, so take advantage of it now.

I have personally used this deal with the galaxy S4 - I signed up on the phone to confirm with a rep that discount was applied properly. I pay $54.00 for unlimited talk text and 2.5GB of data + $20 of monthly payment for the phone. I have one line on my plan. Hope this helps
T-Mobile paid off my old EIP and put the 99 plus taxes on my bill coming next month. Came out to 151 down on my bill next month. Free Express shipping, and also gave me 10 dollars off a month for 6 months on my bill.
Gotta love T-Mobile. Been with them 7 years.
That was from just talking to the right rep. No specific deal
It's all about talking to the right rep. Last time I called with a billing question, I ended up speaking with someone who didn't really know what was going on instead of trying to make my case I just hung up and called back and spoke with a super helpful rep after.

Atleast we got unlocked bootloaders to change things up, but thats pretty bad for a 700 phone that just came out.
For ****s and giggles, I looked at eBay and they're only going for around 400. Not saying I want to get rid of the G3, but looking to leave my options open. I'm not taking a 300 dollar hit on a month old phone though.
Well at least you'd get more than on a trade-in, lol. I do wish it was more popular though. I've resisted any phone with on screen navbars for quite awhile, but after giving in and trying the G3, it's been a breath of fresh air and I'm loving it.

It's not completely unpopular, either. Just development is stalled because LG were bastards and locked the bootloader for everyone but us. People just don't want to put in the effort for one unlocked carrier.

It's definitely not LG that locked the bootloader. That blame belongs to the carrier.

Jump! Gives you half back of what ever you paid, as long as you paid in the other half when you go to use Jump. So if he paid $700 he gets $350 back as long as he has at least $350 paid in on it. I paid $598 for mine so when I have $299 paid in I get $299 trade in on it. Of course you'll ALWAYS get more selling it privately. But if you value convenience over getting top dollar then Jump is great.

I dont think thats quite how it works.
i think you get $299 via jump for the $598 phone plus watever the value of the trade in is $139. So lets say you want a new phone after two months, you would owe $548 left on the phone but you'll get $438 via jump and still owe tmobile $110 to pay off the phone.
Lets say you get an s5 for $610 and switch after two months. You owe $560 but you would get $305 + $300 trade in credit via jump. So tmobile would owe you $45 credit towards a new phone.
So basically you lose $160 worth of the g3 value after 2 months vs the g5 only being $5 + taxes in both cases.

Nope. I've used jump 3 times now. It works exactly as I described. But yes at the start of jump you do need to pay the taxes on the full price of the phone up front.
---------- Post added at 09:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:41 AM ----------
Also I forgot to add that it costs you $10/month for Jump. But that include's insurance too, which would cost $8/month on its own.

I think T-Mobile paid my $480 balance off my Flex Jumping to the G3 which I think is more then what I could have got if I sold it. Two different Jump programs though. I'm on the original and wife is on the new one. Not exactly sure the difference but the 1st Jump program is better. I'll probably use my wife's Jump on my next phone. hehe Like you said Jump saves the hassle of selling your phone. I hate the crazy craigslist peeps and sucks getting low balled on the web.
I do know the original Jump you had to pay some money down on the device itself, where now its 0 down, except for taxes. Im not sure of the details of the first Jump plan, I came in right after the second version started.
well i have the latest one during the summers saving specials and used on the galaxy avant that i got for $100. only payed 1 month + the jump and took it to the tmobile store and got $130 credit for which i used to buy the g2 on sale which i swapped for a g3.
I've been on JUMP! since it first came out. The original program (which I am on) allows you to jump twice per year, and they wipe whatever is remaining on your EIP. The first time you use it needs to be at least 6 months from the purchase date, but the 2nd jump can be any time after that. What you pay down on the device originally depends on your credit. For example, I paid $0 down on my S5 (taxes paid up front), and jumped 2 months later to the G3. T-Mobile wiped the remaining EIP on my S5, which was $602. The "new" JUMP! program requires you to pay off 50% of your EIP before you can upgrade, then they wipe the remaining 50%.

This is how my JUMP is as well. I paid nothing up front on my Note 3 when I joined T-Mobile. I jumped to the G3 in July, with 0 down, and they paid the rest of the balance on my Note 3. I can now JUMP again whenever I want to. The only thing I'm not clear on is when I can JUMP a 3rd time. Say I JUMP to the Note 4 in October, do I just need to wait until my "2nd year" starts on T-Mobile to JUMP again? I'm really glad I got in on the original JUMP program because the new one doesn't seem that great to me.
But, yeah that trade in value seems really low to me. I got just under $100 for my Nexus 4 when I originally joined T-Mobile in Jan.

Call AT&T Retentions for Note 4 deal!!!

After giving my T-Mobile Note 4 to my brother for his birthday, I tried to see if I could get a deal from Ma Bell themselves. I was successfully. They price matched the T-Mobile variant at $749.46. I did AT&T next at 12 month of $41.30, and received a credit on my bill for $77. Its not the greatest deal, but hey its better than nothing, right? Not too mention I plan on trading the device in after 12 months, so I will only have paid $418.
Just thought I'd share. Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose.

Yep, I've gotten 3 free phones ($600), 4 contracts given an early upgrade by up to 6 months, and probably $1000 in bill discounts by calling them over the last 7 years being polite, nice, and just asking them if they can help with stuff. Not happy with the whole locked bootloader garbage but they've always hooked me up on that end. Just call and tell them what's up and ask them if they think this is possible because you like AT&T and at least want to give them a chance to keep a customer, unless you owe them money or have burned them in the past most of the time they'll do their best to give you what you want. Just be polite, funny, and nice is they key. I called once and talked to a lady from an Atlanta AT&T call center and we ended up talking about how amazing her fried chicken recipe was and how her kids/grand kids loved it and I got a free phone ($200 waved) and 5 months early on my upgrade. It's crazy but it works lol. Good luck

Exactly. I was very polite and thanked him. I mentioned how my bill has never been late and is always paid in full. I was actually quite lucky because they didn't have to do that.
While I'm all down for unlocked bootloaders and root, the truth is, I tinker with my phone too much then. Its gets tiring having to switch roms every week. So I think I'm just gonna do my own thing and call it a day. While I fully support those going to the T-Mobile route, I just found that too much of a hassle. That and very rude T-Mobile staff.
Not only have I had retention credit me to help out a bit. I had them upgrade my wifes line a year early and next day her a new 32gb white s4 before our honey moon last year for free.
I see Sprint has the Edge for $840 as opposed to ATT's whopping $945! Going to call Retentions later and see if they will price match. Thanks for the heads up OP.
Let us know if you were able to get one out of contract for less than full price! I tried 3 times already on phone and chat; retention was ready to let me cancel rather than give me anything to stay. I have always been extremely nice on the phone and usually get deals... but am not getting anything to lower the price of this phone.

Technically this one out of contract as it was on AT&T Next's program. Instead of paying $825.99, they gave it to me for $749.46 (T-Mobile's note 4 price).

You only trade in your phone if you want a new phone at 12 months. If you keep it 20 (making payments) the phone is yours to do whatever with. Also with my $25 a line discount it only ends up being $19 a month for my note 4 so I end up paying $380 over 20 months to own it free and clear vs $750 buying it outright.

How did you ends up paying $19 a month ? if you choose 18 months Next plan payment you ends up paying $34.42 x 18 = $619 plus you need to trade your phone. $25 line discount is for access not for a phone. If you agree to 2-years contract you pay $15+$25(discount) =$40. I and my wife (accountant) calculate all options and best way is to get phone on some other side then on Next plan. You will ends up paying full price on phone whatever plan and phone you choose from At&t..

I completely agree with you. Next is AT&T's way of charging you the same but making you feel better OR to get you to change phones all the time and give them the old phone back which they can sell for more. The best way is to get the phone out of contract and pay $15 a month under the "bring your own device" discount. My goal is to get the phone out of contract for less than the crazy $825.99 that AT&T is asking for.
Sample Calculation For All Options:
Note 4 out of contract ($825.99) + 2-yr of service with bring your own device discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with Next 12 ($41.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with 2-yr contract ($299.99) + 2-yr of service with no discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1259.99
Sample Calculation for Next 12 to make yourself feel better but not really:
Note 4 with Next 12 and service discount ($16.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Let's also consider that you turn in your phone at 12 months like AT&T wants you to; you end up paying $495.60 out of pocket and end up with nothing. AT&T, on the other hand, has to pay for the rest of the bill for the device, which is $330.39. If they could sell the Note 4 in a year for more than $330.39, which of course they could, then they are making even more money of you. You may wish to argue that under the "make yourself feel better" option, you're only paying $16.30 a month so after one year you pay much less than $495.60; great deal, right? No, you just paid the rest under the service plan. AT&T will gladly take your money.
Not sure where your calculations came from but why are you adding the discount to the bill instead of subtracting. I pay 41.30 for next 12 on my note 4 but with my 25off discount i pay 16 a month for my phone. 16x12=192. After 12 months i would only need to pay 192 and then i can turn my phone in and get a new one with no penalties and if i keepy my phone i end up paying 320. The access discount is only appied when you are on the next plan or buy outright so it needs to be considered in your calculations because if you sign a contract your bill jumps +25. For 2 note 4s on next 12 plus 15gb family share with unlimited calling and text i only pay 180 a month. Just playing with the at&t cart i added 2 smartphones to the cart with 10gb share and on contract and the price is 180. I pay exactly what new customers pay but with the option to upgrade early.

Exactly. I plan on doing this.
Anyone else get a deal through retentions?
I did this, I was pissed the ATT version was more expensive than the Tmobile version. Called retentions and complained, they have me a $180 credit. I since sold the ATT version and got a Tmobile one anyway.

Let me clear your mind. The $25 discount is for your line which they normally charge you $40. With the discount you pay $15 instead of $40. Your $41.30 payment stay the same no change what so ever.
