1. Download the mod of your choice
2. Download a safe recovery or Repack kernel (if you don't already have one) These can be found here, make sure to grab a stock kernel in zip format while you're there!
3. Using the Odin method of your choice, flash your custom recovery
4. After your phone boots, boot into recovery by holding power and vol down simultaneously until the recovery screen comes up (EL29 Directboot makes this step unnecessary}
5. Navigate the menu to clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
6. Navigate to the menu to your desired mod and flash
7. After flashing is complete, navigate through the menu to your stock kernel and flash
8. Reboot and enjoy your new toy ;)

FAQ
Q Where can I download and How do I install?
A You can find the links to download and Installation instructions here. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with this ROM?
A Right now there doesn’t appear to be any specific to this ROM. List will be updated as issues are found.
Q Are there any mods/tweaks available for this ROM?
A Yes, Just about any tweak pack will work. I recommend Comadose by Goddly. Grab it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188416
Q How’s battery life?
A I see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I make a nand recovery?
A There is a very informative thread created by Timmetal6669 found here
Q Where can I find the newest JB recoveries?
A Right here be sure to thank Garwynn for all his hard work while you're there
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to its fullest

Well done sir!!

what is dalvik-cache
What is a rom ?
what is android?
couple of sugestions, when theres alot of files in the root of the SD card, you cant scroll, so anything that doesnt fit is cut off, might be good if you could add a next page option, or make it only list folders that contain zip files

seriously, google didnt return an answer
just did a google search for "what is dalvik-cache" and got loads of good answers.

The best being this one http://dbhcreative.com/blog/?tag=dalvik-cache about half way down the search
"Dalvik-cache is like a storage bin for application data in the AndroidOS"
are you sure you searched
Edit: and just for fun

this is why i need another phone. i ask some serious questions, then a newbie comes around the corner bullshitting the thread with questions that are answered on the first page. can't be too long until we have a flamewar here, and with any luck the thread is going to be closed. why would we want to have a great open recovery image without being dependant on a guy like amon_ra, who has moved on ages ago, let's spam this thread with moronic questions. thanks everyone.
I think the guy who asked the cache question really didn't know the answer so your comment is a bit harsh on him. As for the others... they were just having a laugh I guess.
yes maybe it was a bit harsh, but not untrue. if everybody was going around asking stuff he doesn't know in the thread it was mentioned we wouldn't need threads here. just make a big shoutbox where everybody can start crying... you see where it leads the discussion.
yeah maybe harsh, bot not untrue. and i meant those morons "having a laugh" aswell. this thread is a great example where this leads to. and what do we have the subforums for if nobody cares?

hello
how to install this recovery

I think you can just install it the same as you did RA and it will overwrite the RA one.
Someone will have to confirm this though.

Root Recommendation for Galaxy SII T-989

Hi, everyone,
What is the root you would recommend: juggernaut, odin or... else? What version?

odin is what you use to root
juggernaut is the custom rom you can install after rooting
Just flash recovery in Odin. Then any rooted ROM in cwm.now your rooted.
From a glaxay better than yours.
My recommendation....ginger.
My setup is:
ROM - Juggernaut 4.1
Kernel - Faux .007u
OC - OC Deamon with -75000 UV Script
Deamon settings: Sleep 192MHz Min/540MHz Max - Conservative Gov
Wake 192MHz Min/1.566GHz Max - OnDemand Gov
ROM is smooth, fast and I get pretty good battery life.
Would you be THAT kind to post all detailed steps, from A to Z (including backing up the original rom before proceeding) on how you got it to that state?
Many thanks in advance!

Sorry, I will not post step by step instructions, you will have to use the search function but I will help point you in the right direction.
First go here and take head.
Second, go here (Read and Learn), here (to learn everything about rooting and flashing) and here (List of everything available on the forum).
Here is a list of what I have installed. DO NOT JUST GO AND FLASH. Read what I posted first so you don't mess your phone up.
ROM i'm using.
Kernel I'm using.
OC Daemon or overclocking.
Daemon Controler (in post 2 of this page)to set your frequencies. You can also use the app recommended in the OC Daemon thread.
Here is the undervolt script. Once everything else is finished place this in /system/ect/init.d folder and reboot.
Here's the biggest part, ready? MAKE SURE TO THANK EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HAS HELPED YOU IN EVERY WAY! I.E. THANK THE DEV'S AND PEOPLE WHO DID WRITE UP'S!!!
I just went through this, and as a noob I can offer my opinion on the choices to make.

The link above has you installing SU 3.0.5, but if have the latest Samsung update (2.3.6 and wi-fi calling), then you're supposed to install SU 3.0.7. If you don't have the latest Samsung update, I recommend that you get it before proceeding. I used this guide to root (includes download links):
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-t-mobile-all-things-root/467128-telus-galaxy-s2-t989d-ultimate-root-optimization-guide-steps.html
Once you've installed recovery and you're rooted, you can play around with all the ROMs if you want. I was very conservative at first and I installed Mr. X's stock ROM that is basically just rooted and has Carrier IQ removed (which was my initial motivation to root). But once you get the bug, you gotta keep fiddling, so I looked into getting something that increased features and performance. I noticed the comments in the ROM threads either grumbling or praising developer about updates. Sometimes developers move on to other projects or have more important things in life to take care of. I noticed that people were praising the Juggernaut team for staying on top of things and quickly applying their developments to Samsung's recent 2.3.6 update, so that sold me on Juggernaut 4.1. Then in search of better performance and battery life I started reading the kernel threads, and decided on faux123's kernel and GideonX's overclocking/undervolting script (with a few tweaks). Now I'm pretty happy with my setup.

After doing a ton of reading to get myself up to speed, I would say that if you need your hand held to do this, it's not for you. If you're not willing to search and read tons of pages to start gaining a basic understanding of the various components and standard procedures, you're going to be skirting disaster (or finding it), and you will probably annoy people with your questions. It's not hard, you just need to read a well-written guide, and have good attention to detail. But beyond that, you should read as much of a ROM's thread as you can to understand the questions and issues that people have. I usually read the first page, then go to the end and work backwards. It can be a little tedious, but once you get your phone all tweaked out, it's very satisfying. Good luck.

KangaKat is a Google Edition Rom built by iB4STiD.
It is currently the top Rom for i337 variant of the Galaxy S4.
With a change of installation - i9505 users can now experience the goodness of
KangaKat
Built, as always, by the developer to give us a fully functioning, reliable and high performing Rom. The Rom is built to look as close to stock GE as possible but with Xposed and Gravity Box included. Screenshots will be supplied in post 2 - although not really required.
To see the Roms full spec - see iB4STiDS Op under FEATURES
This is an un-official guide to the Rom and installation etc until iB4STiD re-launches an official op:fingers-crossed:
I have gained permission by iB4STiD and a moderator for this thread etc
iB4STiD - for another superlative Rom
Ktoonsez - for his awesome i9505 GE Kernel
Chainfire - Samsung and root god
The Xposed and Gravity box app developers
Anyone else who contributed to KangaKat
Please DO NOT thank me - thank them :good:
Nor myself or the Rom developer will be held responsible for any issues you face with your phone after install. Perform the requested backups and be confident you can get out of any pickes you may find yourself in on the off chance. If Not - Do Not Flash.
This rom is NOT FOR i9500 handsets!
I used official CWM recovery 6.0.4.4 - others should work fine
Full Wipe - Data, Cache, Dalvik
System format
Flash KangaKat Rom for i337
Do Not Reboot yet....
Flash Kt Kernel for GE i9505

BIG thanks to @ktoonsez for his kernel!!
@iB4STiD for the super GE Rom
Q&A, Graphics, Add-ons
Q: So, this roms for i337 - how will it affect my phone carrier, sim lock etc
A: It wont - when you flash the correct kernel you will be running as per normal
Q: Why cant i flash on the i9500?
A: The roms built to fit the i9505 and i337 hardware.....just dont even try it!
Q: Its unofficial - what does that mean exactly?
A: Although i asked permission to Op the rom, i do not expect iB4STiD to support it. Although as we know - hes a real top dev and is pretty good at backing us up.
Hopefully iB4STiD will launch the official thread soon - this just helps free up his time a little....and because i love the rom so much (and his work in general)
 well thats that then........the officials up

It is always best to thank a ROM OP, in lieu of simply posting "Thank you".
Please keep discussion focused, on the topic described in the OP
Dear followers of this ROM,
in this post I will explain the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this specific ROM.
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:
"While our forum has slowly been morphing, the one area we would like to keep original is Development
The goal is to alleviate the OT banter that occurs within any rom. While the XDA forum continues to grow, we need to help users work within the guidelines created by XDA. Over the last couple of years the average rom being created, has become a free for all chat thread. There tends to be much infighting and mod/developer cleaning.
The idea of this template is to create a Questions and Answers for each rom. This is in no way asking for Development to be moved here, rather any and all conversation that is non Development related to your conjoined Q&A."
This means that non-development related posts, should be posted - with the permission of the Dev - in this thread. What are the most common Off Topic posts, that should be posted in this Q&A/T thread?
1. Battery life related posts
2. Will this app work with this ROM
3. SD Card related problems
4. How do I download and install this ROM
5. Questions about ETA, etc

Long time reader first time poster. Im currently running 1.6.3 candy kat on my HTC ONE M8. I tried flashing the candy5 beta but had a problem where my launcher kept crashing. I did a dirty flash. Would a clean flash of the ROM fix it? Sorry I'm a noob at this. I really like this ROM. It's been my daily driver and I'd like to try the beta.

Looks nice and all, but I will never install another one of your builds, the way you have installation set up, it hijacked my whole phone and screwed up the partitions and even had trouble getting into recovery again, all said and done I still had to re-root phone, never again, your builds need to got to a traditional way of installation like everyone elses so it will not screw their phones up and give them problems.....thanks but no thanks.
Hi bro,
Thank you for your sharing my rom here. A menber already post it on xda forum few month ago but I asked him lock the topic.
Can you lock this thread, I dont want my rom is here any more. Thank you for your understading.

Maybe I'm missing something, but aroma installation is almost the standard method now. What's different?
@Arctic Prodigy, if you paid close attentions or even read the post, you'll know that the ROM is not mine! I CLEARLY Stated that It is not my work, i am just posting it here to benefit the respectful people of XDA Forum. Other than that, please read the Changelog, and don't judge without trying. It is a new build with new changes.
Thanks for your constructive comment

Doesn't matter whose ROM it is, if it happens to screw peoples phones up they should know about it, may not be your build, but you are definitely providing it.
Calm down guys. The thread will be locked and no phones will the damaged.
OP seeing that you requesting the thread be locked, can you also delete the download links? Are you not wanting the Rom to be downloaded? If so, please delete the download link from the 1st post.
Cheers
Thread closed and download links removed....the ROM original developers as stated in the post above....does not want it to be posted here.
