[Q] cmd fastboot access denied - HTC One X

I am trying to unlock the bootloader through HTCdev but my problem is when I open up cmd and type in the command all I get is fastboot access is denied!
I have searched and read for days but cannot find anything to help me out so I have joined up with xda in the hopes someone else out there has had a similar issue or can atleast suggest something.

Try creating a new fastboot folders and updating your HTC drivers. If the need arise, I can share with you my fastboot files

It's probably that the folder is under admin previlage protection.
Try moving fastboot folder.
Didn't work:
-Try extracting fastboot to a new directory again.
Didn't work:
-Run cmd as admin, then use cd command to navigate into fastboot folder
ex: cd c:\fastboot\

Hi convict_moody, I have tried all that you suggested and went as far as removing all traces of my HTC drivers and
fastboot folders from my computer and tried it all from scratch and still no luck.
I recently did a HTC update to 4.2.2 and the Hboot is 1.73 with S on just if that info is of help?

Are the drivers properly installed, you see MYHTC in the windows device manager. If so that's fine.
Maybe download the android sdk bundle and open the command window in the platform tools folder.
Then put there the unlock code.bin file too and flash it
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin

Drivers are up to date and I have tried with the sdk bundle, it seems to be so simple and not getting it to work is rather frustrating.
Starting to wonder if it's worth the hassle

Sure you logged in as admin on the pc ?

I'm the only user of this computer, got me stumped.

Yeah but when it's not setup as admin you can have trouble

Just want to thank you all for your advice, I tried the process on a different PC and it worked perfectly. Was my laptop the whole time.
Again a big thanks to you all

Need help with my EVO

Alright so last night i ran the DCupdater and saw the damagecontrol v3.1.2 update. So i downloaded it and tried running that. Thats when my evo started freaking out and the sd card kept getting disconnected. After all that nonsense it got installed. But then as my phone restarted it was in for the loop of watching the HTC EVO 4G logo. Thats when i tried going to one of my backups and that seemed to work. So then after that i when back to damagecontrol v3. But that messed everything up even more because now im stuck on v3 without sd card. When i try going into the bootloader it wont let me. When i hook up the phone to my pc via usb it wont let me see the sd card contents. I tried doing the:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot
but that had no effect and the cmd wouldnt even recognize the command
what do i do?

before you enter those commands you have to hold power and volume down and go into fastboot on the phone - after that connect it to the computer
click start - run - CMD
After that
type cd "location of your android sdk tools folder" - OR cd "drag the folder of your tools folder into the prompt"
THAN
type the commands -
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot

where do i find that folder... im sorry i dont really know much of this
i'm assuming you are using windows. it's the location of your \android-sdk-windows\tools\ folder from when you installed the android sdk in order to root in the first place. it is also the location of adb. if need be, do a search for adb.exe and it should point you directly to the location of everything you need.
It keeps saying "the system cannot find the path specified". I dont even know what to do. This sucks.
it might be under a different path, where did u install ur android sdk?
i don't really remember. i found it though searching for adb and i guess i have 2 folders of it... zipped and unzipped... but i tried putting both path names in there and that went nowhere
When you search for adb or your android sdk tools folder, go into that folder and hit Shift+right click and "open command window here" then use your commands.

[Q] error: device offline

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to revert back to stock on my one x, and I seem to have run into a snag.
Every time I try to run something from the all in one toolkit I get this lovely error:
error: device offline
My device most certainly is not offline. I'm running CM10.1, and can only access files on my phone from my PC when I turn on the "USB storage" from the app.
I NEED the phone to be recognized, so I can go back to stock.
Thanks in advance
Do you have the debug usb active?
However, when i have my device offline, just take off usb cable from pc and put it in a new usb port.

Define "adb" for a noob :3
R: [Q] error: device offline
adb is the program that you use for "talking" with android.
It have a lot of command and one is: adb devices, and this command give you your error
With android 4.2.2, adb changed and i think adb is present in toolkit that you have is adb for 4.1.x...
However, you can found the new adb on internet or into the sdk

My mission is to get back to the stock rom :/
Download ANDROID SDK BUNDLE (Google) unpack it in a self specified folder. Uninstall HTC sync manager and leave the drivers.
Put the phone in the bootloader and open a command window in the SDK platform tools, point in the folder and hold shift + right click mouse button - open command window
In that window yoh type
Fastboot devices (when a serial pops up its good)

I found new ADB files and replaced them in the toolkit's data folder.
I still, however, get the same error after rebooting both devices, and plugging out/in the USB.
In your line i don't see platform tools ! The fastboot file is inside the platform tools.....so you must get something like this
C:\foldername\android sdk\sdk\platform tools
I don't see you navigated to the platform tools folder
Well the CMD thing worked, but nothing happened with the toolkit :'(
And I'd like to change to a different modded ROM if it makes a difference, but either way I need to be able to flash an .img file, which will be impossible if the device is not recognized while in recovery.

Fastboot USB
Thought so.....you have the HTC one xl dual-core phone. This forum is actually for the HTC one x quad-core phone !
You need to be official in the AT&T HTC one xl forum
But fastboot is working now. Reflash the custom recovery (and please get it from the AT&t forum)
And then enter recovery and mount the sdcard again as a mass storage device ....
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Is the command. Place the right recovery.img in the fastboot folder and flash it.
You can also perform a ruu
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek....11_2_10.105.32.25L_release_271865_signed.exe
:0!
Did not know that, thank you sir.

You must have fastboot.exe and the 2 dlls at the same directori, where you are at the moment at console (e.g. you wrote c:\fatsboot, so you need to have fastboot.exe and the 2 dlls at c:\ root to run them.)
I recommend to run fastboot and/or adb from a subdirectory from root, e.g. c:\htc\
I havehave fastboot.exe and the 2 dlls at the same directori (I rote c:\fastboot....but the same result ...
I don't have any root file in c drive
i am attaching the file ...

don't know what the problem here, but I had errors like this on windows 8.1 and win8, which based on the poor command-line support...
try to move to the folder itself first with cd command, then fastboot as command.

First, do not place files in the root (system could have some restrictions to run files from here). Place them in any folder and run from there (e.g. c:\fb\fastboot.exe)
Second, usualy you must be in the folder where the running file is. So do this:
cd c:\fb
fastboot ...

Btw, are you really sure you want to take the risk with unlocking/rooting/flashing? If you are not quite familiar with a simple computer tasks there is a big chance you will go wrong and the phone will become unuseful. Unless you have many of them and just playing around. =)
Have you tried using the windows AIO tool?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676686
you may find it easier, but please do read all the instructions carefully especially about making a backup.

What exactly the command prompt says?
You have to start your phone in the fastboot mode to accept external commands. So I guess the command prompt is waiting until the phone will get to that mode.

In command prompt with your phone connected, and USB debugging turned on in your developer options, and in the folder with your boot.img (you'll need to rename the hellboy kernel file to just boot.img)
type
<adb devices>
you should see a reply showing your phones ID if you get this go for
<adb reboot bootloader>
wait for the phone to reboot to your white bootloader screen then go for
<fastboot flash boot boot.img>
then once the kernel is in
<fastboot reboot>
Again I strongly recommend using an AIO program to make sure you haven't missed a step. Its great to learn all the ways to work with your phone, but its primary use is a phone, if it breaks it won't be able to do that.

Bootloader unlocking problem

Morning.
No doubt I am missing something dumb out here but I'm having problems here. Following HTC Dev instructions to the letter but when I open CMD it says C:\Windows\system32 NOT C:\Users\Admin\cd \Android
Tried typing in fastboot devices and just get not recognized. I've installed SDK, HTC Sync, JAVA etc.
Any help would be gratefully received
Navigate to the folder where also the fastboot exe file is located, open the command prompt directly in there and type the command again.

error:Cannot load Unlock_code.bin NO solutions????

This is bothering me alot, bought an HTC10 thats with o2 and i cant get the final step to work.
I have received the email twice in as a many attempts, used Chrome and IE to download the unlock code. I placed the unlock code in the same folder as fastboot adb and the other adb
all drivers were installed, including the Android studio one thats 1.6gb along htcsync. When i type in adb devices my device sn comes up
Not sure what to make of this, i looked over the web their issues were that they either had a typo or missplaced the code ,is there really no solution for me?
I only saw this once before when I accidentally renamed the unlock file unlock_code.bin.bin. can we see the properties of the unlock_code.bin? Also I couldn't see from the picture if you had run the command prompt as admin?

Why don't u uninstall HTC sync and try again.
In folder options for Windows turn on the option to see all file extensions and make sure its labeled "Unlock_code.bin". Also just Shift+Right Click in that folder so you have a Command Prompt that's already loaded in there so all you have to do is type the fastboot commands and not the entire directory. (makes life a little easier)

it is a bin file, the pic provided just cuts before it says its a bin file. ts labaled exactly as in attachment
i updated to latest OTA , enabled USB debugging and still same problem :crying::crying::crying::crying:
attached the Unlock_code for refference
Try just dragging the .bin file onto the command window and then pressing "Enter." This gets rid of any possible path or name issues.
