help backup HTC Desire splash1 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. Especially experts, I really need your help!
I want to flash a custom splash1, though I already have a fancy splash from an Korean company.
I haven't been able to find that splash on the internet.
So I utterly wish to back it up in case I want to revert back.
I did a lot of browsing and analyzing.
Seems like the splash1 should be in some separate partition.
But I can't really find it.
I tried to DD backup and convert to png every partition I found inside dev/block. None gave me an picture of my splash1.
So I need your help, experts and super advances users and maybe former owners of HTC Desire.
Any tip and suggestion will be appreciated.
Thank you guys. Waiting for your replies! :fingers-crossed:

Not sure where the splash is located but a simple solution would be just download the exact ruu for ur phone (country/region/brand etc) then pull the rom.zip from the ruu exe file then inside the rom.zip will be the splash.img
Its up to u, might save u hours of searching.

Are these just the files or can I rename as update.zip and flash like I would any other update?
I'm really keen to get rid of the T-Mobile splash screen!
Cheers

hmmm, no i doubt renaming as update.zip would ever work (There's a bit more to it than just naming a file to be honest)
to change your bootscreen (the t-mobile splash you mention) you will need to root your phone, and then put the spl released on nov 24th onto your phone (it's a sticky)
and use the fast boot program to send the required file to your phone in the rgb565 file format.
there is a how to on modaco with some custom bootsplash screens -- with a few submitted by me i might add
check here (if you're a member, otherwise look for the thread "Custom Splash & Boot Screens for the Hero " in the htc hero thread in the android forum

Exactly what lusephur said but for some reason Agent-5 who started to topic he linked to over at MoDaCo seems to have deleted all his posts but you can find out how to do it here although this is for a Dream not a Hero...to reboot into bootloader on the hero it is back and power when switching on.

Err... yeah sure I can give it a go but I warn you I am really bad when it comes to graphics lol so if anyone else wants to create one but not sure on how to make it RGB565 post it and I can convert it.

Cheers for the info guys. I'll have a look at the guide shortly.
No worries about rooting and bootloader, it was the 1st thing I did when I got the phone a few months back

Can't Find Network Splash Replacement Tool?

Hi Everyone,
I know that there is a tool available that will replace the network Splash Screen with a BMP file of your choice. I did have this tool and had downloaded it, but since then I have lost it (deleted it). I have had a really good search, but I don't seem to be able to find it on this Forum or any others. therefore I was wondering if anyone knows where it is, or how to replace the splash image manually. I want to replace the T-Mobile image which first comes up when the phone is initially turned on. Any help will be very welcome.
Many thanks
Ian
android flasher or just try downloading an .IMG file with a splash and push it via adb.
You will need root and a guide for changing boot animation, search the development section...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
actually fo splash you need ENG S-OFF.
sorry uros0104 it's not the boot animation I want to change. It's the splash image that I want to change. They are seperate files. Thanks haerigrek Android Flasher was the exact one I was looking for.
Many thanks
Ian
Worked brilliantly, thank you.

[Q] Bacup Recovery.img

My friend softed bricked this phone flashing a different recovery.img that aint originally for the htc one vx. I was wondering is there a way i can back up my recovery.img with a fastboot or adb command or any other way because i have the same phone? Any help will be much appreciated
RUU
I know this is a little late and hope you have fixed the issue already, but just in case, I thought I would come and let you know the RUU over in the development section saved my life yesterday. I flashed a custom recovery for a different model thinking they are pretty much all the same and got some soft brick where phone would boot but not show launcher. I got the RUU and after much frustration had to use an XP virtual machine and got it to run, at least partially, but it seemed to fix my phone. Good luck:

[Q] Flash the normal ROM and make it "new"

Hello,
My HTC Desire HD gets stuck on the HTC screen when I try to boot it.
I am kinda new to this, so I should not have done what I did. I got this phone used and I rooted it, and tried to install a custom ROM.
And something went wrong, likely I didn't prepeard the phone the right way.. And of course, I have been serching a lot on the web, some things don't work and other this requires tools that have a bad download link or outdated.
So my question is: How do I make my phone like normal? Like unrooting and removing everything if possible..
Would be so great if someone could help me out or just by linking me to a working tutorial.
Thank you and have a nice day. And please, ask if something is unclear or if you have questions.
I have a very similar issue

Hi, I have done a similar thing, in that in an attempt to flash a custom ROM, I removed everything. Now, all ROMs just produce the HTC splash screen.
Please help as this is my only phone !!!
You both need to provide more detail on what state your phone was in to begin with and what you did to it. I have a hunch that your phones are S-On with unlocked bootloaders, and that neither of you flashed the boot.img from fastboot after flashing the ROM from recovery. But more detail on what you have and what you did is necessary.

Yes, you are right. I just flashed the boot.img with fastboot AFTER installing from recovery. Jellytime booted up. I really have to thank you for that.
And again, you are right. The phone is S-Om and bootloader unlocked.
I used a a tool named "EasyUnlockTool". It rooted, unlocked the bootloader and some other things.
But right now, I think I am going to stick to jellytime. But to help caraar12345 and me later if I want to go back to stock room, what kind of information do you need?
Thank you for helping
You can either flash a rooted stock-like ROM from recovery, in which case you'd be mostly stock, or relock your bootloader and run a RUU from your computer in fastboot, in which case you'd be completely stock.
