[Flashable Zip] [N7 Wifi only] [KRT16S] Translucent lockscreen bars for 4.4 - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

Hi!
I noticed that the N7 2012 doesn't have the new translucent status & bottom bar on the lock screen.
Nobody seems to have created a zip for the N7, though the N4 has had some love.
I have it working for me, so I thought I'd share.
Please don't use this zip on the N7 3G.
KRT16S Version (Latest)
Code:
Flash this from recovery for your translucent bars:
[url]https://db.tt/DtUygIHb[/url]
Flash this to restore to original in case of bootloops:
[url]https://db.tt/TxfTykJj[/url]
KRT16O Version (old)
Code:
Flash this from recovery for your translucent bars:
[url]https://db.tt/lon9dKd3[/url]
Flash this to restore to original in case of bootloops:
[url]https://db.tt/vClhQlsx[/url]
If Dropbox kills the links for some reason, please drop me a pm.
You shouldn't need to clear cache, but try it if you get a bootloop.

Hardly any of this is my work, I merely unpacked, edited and packed again.
Thank you to Floydfire for creating this for the N4, and heavily inspiring even my thread title: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527525
Thanks very much to Quinny899 for an extremely useful guide that got me most of the way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2510410
Thanks to Flextrick for making Android Multitool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326604
And last but not least, the devs of apktool.
Cheers, and hope you are enjoying KitKat!

Bro I think there's something wrong with the zip..

The "framework" folder should be inside a "system" folder, while it's not. I'll try editing the zip and see if it works, but flashing it like this might be dangerous..
EDIT:I just looked at the updater-script, now I understand.. BTW, does it need a deodexed ROM?

Works great on stock rooted rom installed via flashable zip from the general section!

works great, thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot, I tried to follow Quinny's guide as well but always got caught in bootloops (I have plenty of errors when compiling again, probably has sth to do with apktool).
Got a little frustrated when I saw your zip worked though
Thanks again

Thanks for sharing your work.
FYI if you install Googlehome.apk you'll get transparent status and navbar, as well as the new folder and wallpapers.

I'd just recently used the N7 4.4 factory image and tested with that, so just stock is fine.

I had a frustrating half hour sorting this, during which I could see that the transparency had worked, but it started to bootloop within a minute of hitting the lock screen.
If you want to have another go, try Android Multitool (linked in OP), but don't sign it in that, or with zipsigner. Copy the meta-inf and manifest back from the original apk, instead of signing.
Doing it manually, you may need to place the apk in /system/, then set permissions (0644), then move to /system/framework/

Yup, that or the current Nova Launcher Beta (my personal preference).
Glad it is working for everyone and you are all welcome!

I wanted transparent navi and notification bars so bad but the stock and GEL wont do it (people say it does but it wont) so i installed nova launcher beta and it worked without any mod now i just flashed this mod. nova still working stock still black bars and dont have GEL to check it but i think it will work

Thank you.
Factory image rooted works fine.

Yeap, afraid so - maybe keep the original on your device for easy flashing?

OP: since this modifies the framework is it going to be kept up to date daily? I see that you put that it only works on CM 5/19.
I wish that CM would of put the icons in a separate resource file so it did not have to patch the framework. You know that this is something that people would want to change and patching the framework is not the way to do it.
Maybe they can integrate it into the theme engine.

That is exactly why I looked into it. I have a post flash script that uses adb to populate some settings and files that are located in the /system and gets wiped each flash. I was going to add the resource file or icon files into the script. But, there is not much I can do with patching the framework.

[MOD] [4.1.2] Segmented Circle Battery Mod. 1% Increments. Based on 4.1.2 Stock

This is a Circle Battery Mod with 1% increments and a working battery charging animation. It has the segmented circle (as opposed to the solid, unbroken circle). It is based on the de-odexed stock 4.1.2
~~!! NOT COMPATIBLE WITH 4.2 !!~~
NOTES:
- De-odexed only (Though I've heard it works to over-write your SystemUI even if you are odexed, as always, perform changes at your own risk. Backup recommended.)
- Tested with the Factory/Stock De-odexed ROM by teshxx (found here)
- For STOCK based ROMs only. WILL NOT work with CM or other modified ROMs.
- Use on other ROMs at your own risk
- Mine is for the GSM model. If you would like one for the CDMA/LTE model, please go here. This one was for the Verizon model, and would not work on mine, but inspired me to make one for the GSM.
The attached zip should be flashable in CWM or TWRP, but I cannot guarantee anything. As always make a backup first.
EDIT: I've re-created and re-uploaded the .zip, and had a user report that the flash worked. Flash away!
If the flash STILL fails, please unzip it, and pull the .apk out and manually copy it into /system/app and reboot. Changing the permissions on it after copying would probably be recommended (should be rw-r-r).

Unfortunately I'm not quite that skilled, and am not sure where to pull that from. I'm quite new to modding and this was my first ever mod that actually worked.
But just to be clear, you are referring to the rotation lock like on the Nexus 7's notification bar right?
I flashed this twice and it didn't change anything. Do I have to enable it or something?

Shouldn't have to. It should overwrite your existing SystemUI and take effect immediately after flashing. If it's not flashing properly, try pulling the apk out of the .zip file and replacing your SystemUI manually (using something like Root Explorer or any other app that lets you see the root files of your device).

Hmm, OK. I'll give it a shot. The battery stuff is contained in the SystemUI.apk, but the rotation toggle is part of the framework. I'll see what I can do, but no guarantees.
EDIT: I've tried, but it's a little bit beyond my current knowledge. Modifying the SystemUI was child's play in comparison to trying to work with stuff in the framework. It may be a simple tweak once you get there, but getting there for me is the difficult bit. I can't seem to get the .jar extracted properly to find the .smali file required as detailed in the thread you linked. My apologies, I don't think I'll be able to get that one for you.
thanks. I didn't try to flash it over CWM, but copied SystemUI.apk to system/app. It works well.
Hi, I took the risk and pushed the SystemUI.apk to system/app on my stock OTA 4.1.2 and it worked! Stock ROMs that came directly from Google are odexed by default right? It seems to work fine here without problems.
Thanks for the share.. works great.

Interesting. Keeping the odex when it's unneeded shouldn't be a problem (I don't think so anyway), but I believe the problem comes in if you delete it when you do need it. So you should be OK.

I couldn't find any other that worked for the GSM that was based in 4.1.2. All of the ones that I found were either based in 4.1.1 or were for Verizon. So for me, yes it is indeed the first one that worked. And I learned something new in the process of making it work. Thank you, have a nice day!

[mod] Get rid of qslides in notification

Hi, this is a fairly advanced topic, I'm not providing a nice little cwm file for you to "apply" or "revert" so you gotta know what you're doing. Namely, you'll need to know how to type some commands via adb and be rooted.
I'm providing two CWM files that you can flash over odexed or deodexed LG Optimus G Pro ROMs. Simply put these in your sdcard, use the 2nd init recovery to reboot into recovery, then apply and reboot.
Props to mateo1111 and lv4n35. I used their contribution for "pointers"
Enjoy your reclaimed notification slide down real estate.
worked great, thanks!
i think i already asked but could you look into removing the at&t text from the statusbar? also making all the text color holo blue? i believe all of this is in the systemUI.
Worked on mine as well. Thanks for putting this together!

once and if we get the bootloader unlocked, then it would make sense to provide cwm files that you can apply and revert easily. if someone packages this file in a cwm file in the meantime that you can flash via 2nd init, then I'll post it in the OP.
Edit: found the time to push two cwm files in the OP

The demand for this mod is more than I initially anticipated. You guys made me feel bad :silly: so I'm providing two little nice CWM flashable files in the OP. This should now work on odexed or deodexed ROMs. Guys with international PRO variants, you can try these files too. Worse case is that you'll have to flash back to stock using LGFlashTools given that we have no recovery to fix stuff from a soft brick yet.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work! I figured pushing via file explorer was easier than ADB push (especially for people like me with little command line experience) so I decided to make myself a guinea pig and test that method.

It works in most cases but sometimes when the status bar UI restarts before you reboot, it might cause some corruption in the dalvik-cache and give you all kind of weird sh*t when you reboot. That's why I like to either do things in recovery, clean dalvik and reboot, or "stop" the OS, do my stuff in adb, and reboot. In any case, I just tested the cwm "hide" file in the OP and it works indeed It should be be pretty easy to flash this mod now.

Got tired of that big AT&T label on my statusbar.
Download to sdcard and use the 2nd init recovery to reboot into recovery, then apply and reboot. I used madmack's qslide flashable as a base so it should work fine. I personally just use root explorer and move apks directly because I dont use this recovery.
Should work on odexed or deodexed LG Optimus G Pro ROMs.

I don't see why not. You'd have to rename all the images to match what lg is using.
hello, striking out trying to install this. 1st tried twrp, can't get it to install so i figure i'll use root explorer and switch the systemui.apk, but can't seem to find where that is on this phone, it's not showing up under system/
any ideas?

I haven't tried it myself, but it looks like it's meant to replace LGSystemUI.apk in system/app/.
I hope that helps and good luck!

He said to use 2 int recovery thats different from twrp. Think theres a thread in one of the lg threads on how to do that.

You're welcome . Apparently, they've gone and given it their own naming scheme.
If you look in the zip, it looks like it's simply swapping out the status_bar.xml within the res/layout/ of LGSystemUI.apk. It's been a while since I've done any xml edits for system apps, but you might be able to simply insert that modified xml into the existing apk. Might also be wise to save a backup of the original.

thanks, that's the one i used as well, i flashed it and then downloaded the twrp manager app from the play store to access it. the problem seems to be with this, when i go to flash the zip, the app tries to flash but it then goes back to the main twrp interface, it hangs there for several minutes, the screen goes dark, i hit the power button and the screen comes on but stuck on the twrp lock screen and the swiper does not work. i have to do a long press on the power button to get the phone to restart.
i'll either have to ask about this in the twrp thread, drop the attempt all-together, or use the lg tool to reflash the stock rom and start over.

hello to everyone!
I want to share my last softkeys
These are in a unique WHITE version (however various custom rom may change colors),
but as you can see, I added the shadow, so they are suitable for both light and dark backgrounds!
Manual installation:
When I want to change icons or buttons, usually I "fetch" and override its png from custom rom that I'm using...
.... overwriting the original systemUI using RootExplorer or similar directly on my Nexus
my "TRIBAL KEYS"
Morph theme (for all 4.4 roms)
Morph theme (for all JB roms)
I hope you like...

I think everyone in this forum knows how to do ...
each with its own knowledge ... ...
I always proceed in this way:
- Fetch the file \system\app\SystemUI.apk from my mobile phone
- I open it with 7zip from the PC, and I position it on \res\drawable-xhdpi
- drag new png icons on 7zip opened folder , confirming the changes
- close 7zip
- I copy the updated SystemUI.res on mobile phone
- Overwrite it on the original (on \system\app\) using RootExplorer (or equivalent) with relevant permits.

For what it's worth, you don't need a pc to do this if you use zip themer. Use a file explorer to extract the apk find the image, make a new one, use an existing mod and replace the images, rezip mod and use zipthemer. I have a thread with instructions on doing this.

I have read various threads on this, but personally I prefer my method.
It seems to me more direct.....

There's no right way. If it works it works. I didn't mean to dispute your method, rather to inform people that there are various options. I sometimes build mods when I'm away from home. So I like the flexibility. It avoids the need to transfer things back and forth. Though I do more detailed image editing on a pc.

Ty for sharing op. Looks awesome
updated amount of keys in first page!
I really like the softkeys! But I can't flash them with zip themer (because it doesn't find SystemUI.apk), neither can I manually add them to the apk, I mean, I can, but as soon as replace the original SystemUI.apk with the one I modified, I get a bunch of FCs and lose the notification bar and softkeys. I have to reboot and restore a Nandroid.
Is it because I'm in Kitkat? SystemUI.apk changed its location, it's now under /system/priv-app/, so I guess that's why zip themer can't find it. I tried doing it manually twice. So sad, haha.

do you update edify in zip themer with your kitkat rom? I don't know is just a suggestion.

Hi! Yes, I did. And it updates without an issue. It's just when trying to build the theme that it shows the message "Some items will be skipped due to missing system files... /system/app/SystemUI.apk".
Because of the message I noticed SystemUI.apk is no longer in /system/apps but in /system/priv-app.
Thanks for your answer.
