Enable Swype/Trace/Path input on stock keyboard - Sprint LG G2

I I decided to do a little messing around on my phone today. The lack of Swype features on the stock keyboard irritated me. Lol So I was messing with build prop.
First you must be rooted, second get a Build Prop editor, or something like ROM Toolbox, third be sure to make a back up in case you mess something up.
Open your build prop and look for these lines: ime_trace_apply and ime_trace_menu. Tap one to open it up and you'll see Property Value:false and Default Value:false. Click the selection box under Default Value and change it to true. Save and go back into the build prop.
Do the same thing for the next line. So now both of your items (ime_trace_apply and ime_trace_menu) will read True. Be sure to save Build Prop and reboot. Once you do that, try to use the keyboard.
You should see a quick pop up explaining what Trace Input is. If you don't, then check in your setting and make sure you have it checked. That's all there is to it. I'm so much happier with the stock keyboard now.
*Try not to screw up any settings please!*
FYI - I am not responsible for you messing with your Build Prop, screwing up your device, bricking it or Grumpy Cat coming to your front door, to call you a failure.
***Edit - in the example provided, ROM Toolbox Lite was used. ***

Work perfectly

Works great! Now if only I could find a way to unlock the phone... dang sprint not wanting to unlock mine! -_-

Glad it worked for you guys. I actually like the stock keyboard. The lack of Swype irked me though.

1. Because I like it.
2. Because it has a dedicated Number Row.
3. Because it has built in Emoji's.
Swiftkey is supposed to get #2 and #3 soon, until then...see #1 - #3.

This is very cool! Why would they hide this feature?
I also like the dedicated number row... Only complaint is that the space bar is too narrow (I also have that complaint for the swype keyboard).
I've been using Kii - space bar is wider, and it also allows you to backspace after autocorrect to revert to the original word (if you don't want it uncorrected). But I'd switch to stock full time if only the space bar were wider.

I'm looking for the value for the brightness slider in the notification drop down, it might be in the frameworks it self. Actually if you play with the xposed modules it will bring it back but the minute you slide it, it will crash the system UI

I wonder if they have an agreement with Swype to allow it to be the only tracing keyboard installed by default?

I had this problem too. I ended up using the GravityBar module in Xposed, which happens to have the feature to slide your finger across the statusbar itself to change brightness (under Statusbar tweaks, at the bottom). Works perfectly, no crashes. Not sure if everyone will find this to be an acceptable alternative, though.

Weird cause Swipe was enabled by default on the Verizon model. I actually had to go in and turn it off in the settings.
So funny how the G2 does all these great things yet every version this, this, and that disabled. It would be cool to find a rom that has everything enabled to let US pick and choose what features we want to use.
It's like the AT&T version doesn't have launcher themes. I'm not sure if they even have Keyboard, SMS, or launcher themes. Those are pretty buried too.

I was waiting a bit to see if anyone else reported an issue, because I don't want to come off as a noob . Anyways, I'm using the same Build.prop editor that you are using in your screenshots, but my changes to ime_trace_apply and ime_trace_menu are not saving. I'm rooted, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Any ideas why I can't save? I'm wondering if some other mods are causing conflict....namely: Auto Hide Softkeys, LMT, and G2 Xposed. Thanks in advance!

Yes it does. I've group messaged several times.
Except I use Hangouts now for primary messaging... although I found the stock SMS app more feature rich (and has the popup sms). Hangouts just has the AOSP feel to it, plus it keeps my actual hangout chats in one place = 1 less icon on the desktop.
The LG Stock Roms are pretty feature thick, its just hit and miss what each variant has enabled. AT&T disables the Launcher Themes?! Some disable Group Messaging?! Some have a QuickApp Stock Browser that is windowable (Verizon doesn't have this)?!!!! Some have FM Radios?!
Just gimme everything please!

[Q] Why should I root the SGN2?

Rooting an android is almost second nature to me? I've only had HTC phones which i always rooted, but the SGN2 is such a great phone right out of the box, that i have yet to find a reason to root it yet. What was everyone's motivation to root? In our current development stage, what will be my benefit in rooting? All opinions welcome, and thanks

THIS.
Plus JellyBomb fixed one of my biggest problems with the Note II, and that was that none of the Quick Settings in the Notifications dropdown were useful for me. With Jellybomb, I can put more useful settings in the Notifications dropdown, and remove the ones I don't find useful.
I also have a custom boot animation. I didn't like the stock Sprint one.
There's also Titanium, which allows me to backup all my applications to my SD card in case I need to reformat my phone, make sure I have a backup of an app that might get pulled from the Play Store, or just back up the app for whatever reason.

[HOW TO] Turn Your M Into a BEAST! (Wifi Tether, apps2sd, Full Screen, Ect.)

I have decided to make a post with everything that I have done to my M to solve some of the issues I and many others I have found had with it.
I suggest you root your phone to get the full benefits of it and these modifications: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940630
How to unlock your bootloader: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2013/04/08/motorola-bootloader-unlocking/
1. Run and function in full screen mode (No Nav Bar) (UPDATED!)
Easy way:
Download full!screen from the app market by tsorn, what makes this aspp so great is that you can set it to turn full screen on only when selected apps are running then you can optionaly set function keys to be placed in the corners for things like a back button, home, or menu, its really great!you can even set the size and opacity of the buttons, as well as location!, this app has made my razsr all i dreamed it would be!
Harder way:
This will require a app called HideBar (shocker..) found on the market it allows you to either use widgets or a system notification to hide/unhide the system bar at the bottom of the screen with multiple options on showing it again, to control your phone without your system bar I use LMT ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150 ) it allows you to control your phone (Back, Home, Search, Menu) with gestures, Input number is 5, please follow the directions in the post, there are others apps that do this as well, all with differnt features, look around. This is great to play games in full screen.
2. Wifi Tether
Follow this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981625
3. Moving Apps 2 SD
This is somewhat a PIA until you get the hang of it but can be done using a app called Directory Bind, Official Thread: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262 ) discussion on using it with the M here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913576
There is a easier way to do this if you just want to move large games over 1gb look for gl2sd in the market I tested it on my M and it works fine.
4. Notification Toggle widgets.
This is done using a great app with a amazingly helpful dev called "Notification Toggle" which can be found in the market, it supports all the great Cyanogen Like Toggles that we all love, works better if installed a system app which is really easy!~ just follow the help link in the app to see how he gives multiple examples. This is very customizable sp? from widget button styles to colors and more!
5. Fully working Android 4.2 KB with Trace!(Think Swype.)
I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD! Uses trace like swype and swiftkey, but IMO much much better, less memory, way more accurate and a cool preview function as you "swype". thread found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964663
If you have any other great improvments you would like to share post them and I will add them to the list!
Thank you!, Hope this helps some of you enjoy your M a little more then you do.
P.S. Feel free to pm me if you need help finding or getting hold of any of apps! however if you Google "Aptoide" I think you will manage getting everything you need to set up your phone very, very, cheaply.
I take no credit for any of the information provided, this is simply a consolidation of information i found useful to modifying the overall enjoyment of my phone.
Gonna give that Notification Toggles widget a shot thanks!

Welcome, its great I changed my background to match the color of the drop down and it looks built in, ill post a screen later.
Also added #5 the android 4.2 Keyboard!
so for the 4.2 keyboard do you just switch apk's or is there some other method to installing it from the "4.2 mod package"?
edit: seeing the stock rom is odexed I'm guessing you just install the apk instead of replacing the stock one?

For full screen you should try full!screen by tsorn It's been working for me. I have been using the free version. The paid version you are supposed to be able to setup full screen for only the apps you want full screen when they are run.
Thank as for the tip ill check it out now sounds more of what I want anyway
Found the app will add it to the post when I get to the PC its a really great app thanks for the heads up

Rom suggestion based on...

I got wife a gs3 and I'm looking for a rom for her. Not having the phone for myself I'm not able to be the flashaholic I normally am for myself. So for people that have flashed a few here, is there one based off what she/I am looking for.
She actually likes touchwiz, so I am hoping there is one with a stock theme, preferably not really themed. I think I prefer it odexed, because from what I understand (I could be wrong) is that with the setup of an odexed rom it is a bit faster feeling. Also more importantly, it has a voice removed with the double tap home button using the voice search/assistant of Google now/search. This maybe common practice but I'm not sure of the community favor of s voice, I find it slower and not as good in my opinion.
If this is an annoyance for a rom suggestion thread, I apologize. Just looking for the guidance of people that for frequently flash the roms offered by this phones devs, and the familiarity of what they offer.
*edit*
After doing research on odexed/deodexed nature, it seems the advantage of odexed comes from only the initial boot. So unless what I have gathered from that little bit research is false, the odexed portion is not important to me.

Graviton or CS ROM.
Graviton is themed but black and blue colored... Not really themed per say. Simple to ogles and all the ztouchwix stuff she would want. Great battery and my wife will actually use my phone with this one.
Only major changes is debloated some and asop MMS and you have to add gs3 weather widget is she wants it....which is easy to do. Also comes with the 4.2 camera. Swap or Samsung keyboard for 4.2 one and she will love it.
dev is awesome as well. He's makes both. Intergalactic is a great one too.

I cant speak for other launchers, but Nova allows you to set any action you want for the home button from your home screen. So, setting the home button to open Google Now from the home screen essentially turns a double press of the home button into automatically opening Google Now. It would be a convenient workaround and would work excatly the same.

Based on their Google+ page this won't be as simple to put into other ROMs as Pie. They said that there is a lot of new code and changes made that will make it very difficult to put into other ROMs. I guess we'll see though.
I guess I just don't see the point. It's always awesome to have new features implemented, buy why? What does this solve that the notification bar does not already do? Maybe I'm just not getting it.

Facebook Messenger chatheads are the main inspiration behind this. They say that the way the notification shade works now interrupts the flow of using your phone too much. This is supposed to remedy that by making it more accessible.

So if you've never used the feature, why talk bad about it?
But..its good to use as you can stay in a app and still easily send messages and see what they say and a picture can also be shown of said contact which is what's in the "bubble"
Quite frankly it blows my mind none of these other big names in instant messaging apps haven't even bothered to take this and adapt to their own.
I give props to the dev team behind Facebook for thinking it up.
I used it on iOS but to my surprise after using it on Android its severely limited on iOS that you can only use the chat heads or bubbles while only be in the actual Facebook Messenger app. On Android as long as your signed in you can get these little contact bubbles anywhere, and you can move the bubble anywhere on the corners of the screen or drag and drop to the trashcan to close it.
Here's Facebook Messenger chat heads being demoed

Here's a video preview of Halo
It's looking good so far, I can't wait to try it out!
Looks promising, though if it would hide more than 15% of the halo bubble, say, adjustable up to 90% hidden or transparent when not in use, that would make it a must have for every custom ROM.

So if the other ROM devs won't jump on this I'll be jumping ship to PA ROM also.

I'd really like to see some competition between PA and, idk CM or AOKP to get notifications done right.
PA I think is on track, but it would be interesting to see something like the bb10 hub (or an inspired new concept... Not just a Facebook feature ripoff) in CM or AOKP. Just to see what school of thought may win.

Not really, the Verizon variant doesn't have the notification bubbles on the lockscreen, shutterv sound in camera app and the launcher didn't have infinite scrolling. They all got there neat little added features.

The mod to activate the ability to do group messaging in SecMms is simple, but in my experience getting it to function as it's supposed to is a different story unfortunately. With help from a thread in the AT&T section I believe I got it close, but not close enough for me to keep it.
That being said, 4.2.2 roms I believe are fine with group messaging.

This was useful for "flipping the switch" in the SecMms.apk itself, but most of my experimenting came from pulling framework2.jar/SecTelephonyProvider.apk files from here, decompiling them, looking for where things changed (comparing a "base" version - I used unmodified Novella files as those were reported working - to the modded versions in the post), then looking at our own files, seeing where things differ between the unmodified Novella and TMobile versions, and trying to work in the changes from the OP of that thread. It was pretty close, but there was still some buggy behavior in my opinion for how I wanted to implement things (which differed slightly from the OP) - so I figured aosp mms was close enough for me and let it go lol. This is no small task - but far from impossible. For me it was a cost/benefit thing - it was costing myself too much of my own time for a benefit I could get elsewhere - but such cost/benefit analyses will vary from individual to individual
