Which Spigen case is best for Nexus 5, between the neohybrid and slimarmour? - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hey guys,
I know this is totally subjective. However, I have been looking for a case for my nexus 5. I like the Spigen NeoHybrid, and Slimarmor so far, however I have heard bad things about the Neohybrid, and that the Slimarmor is somewhat bulky. Some guidance is needed. Thank you!

Spigen cases are always good to use and I have used slim armour of it...and I just love that case....so my vote will go for Slim Armour.....

you can also check out the ultra hybrid one too...thats too a really nice case to go for....:good:

sometimes thick cases will mess with the camera by changing the light sensitivity because the lens and/or flash are shrouded. go on amazon and read the reviews... i decided against the slim armor because of potential camera issues and because people complained about the buttons either being hard to press, or no feedback/bad feel from the buttons. but it does look like it would protect the phone well and with tpu instead of cheap silicone like all those old iphone cases i had to deal with years ago i'm sure it's still a pretty good case. but i went with the neo hybrid and it should be here this afternoon so i'll give my opinion then.

I have the slim armour. I was a bit disappointed at how bulky it is when I first put it on my Nexus, however I have grown accustomed to it and it is a good quality case.
The button feedback is actually the best I've ever experienced on a case. Really nice.
I would personally prefer a slimmer case but if you're not worried about bulk, slim armour is a definite one to look at.

I got a Slim Armor and the buttons are no good. Makes them feel spongy. I'm returning it and ordering a Neo Hybrid.

Pretty awesome. Thank you guys!! Anyone encountered fitting problems with the neohybrid, especially the use of the headset jack?

I have the slimarmor. The power button is a bit too snug and i feel alot of dusk seeps into the bottom of the case.
However, I have dropped the phone 2 times on the ground outside (concrete) and there's not one nick on the case itself and the phone is perfectly fine. It does add a bit of bulk, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I can't promise I'll stay with this one for good, but It will definitely be in rotation with other cases

A drop test! Thanks for your service:good:
Feeling better about my slim armor now!

I got the neo hybrid. I was unhappy with the size it made the phone and The grippiness. I think it looks nice though.
I returned it. Now have the nilkin v series flip case on order.

I have both and like the slim armor better. Better protection and list slippery. If you want slimmer I also have the ultra hybrid which I feel is made better than the neo hybrid and is slimmer. That's my 2 cents on the issue.

i have the neo hybrid and think it's fine as a case. the case buttons transfer the tactile feel of the phone's buttons very well.

It is good to have real life drop test. This is the exact reason why I bought this case (ordered, shipped, but not received yet).

I have the Neo Hybrid on mine and I love it. It makes the phone easier to hold and adds a nice layer of protection. Plus it looks pretty awesome!

Any issues with camera flash?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

i just got the neo hybrid. it adds more bulk to the phone than i thought... the back is thin but something about squaring off the back makes it feel a lot bigger. also the tpu + bumper adds some width. i was afraid of button access problems through the cutouts with some of the tpu cases out there so i didn't go with a cheap tpu case, maybe i would have been happier with a contoured case rather than this but overall it's a very good case. the power button feedback is a little less, but the button works consistently, my dennon headphones fit, but others might not, the phone stills charges wirelessly without problems.

I picked up the Slim Armor and love it. Great protection around the corners, screen, and camera lens. For a two layer case, it doesn't feel bulky at all. Fits very nice in the hand IMO.

None that I've noticed with my Neo Hybrid. I just wish it wasn't so difficult to remove.

I haven't actually tried either case (because I haven't even gotten my phone yet... backorder ) but I would trade bulkiness for protection by getting the dual layer Slim Armor. I have had a dual layer case on my current phone and I have dropped a couple times over the past two years. In combination with a screen protector, a dual layer case can be the best insurance for your phone without actually paying $100-200 for real insurance.

I was originally planning on the Neo Hybrid just cuz it looks so damn nice but more than 1 person has said its very slippery... and that'd be silly to buy a case only for you to drop it more often.
I ordered the Slim Armor instead, waiting for it to arrive. Amazon's shipping is kind of wonky, they said 2 day delivery but the package has just sat at UPS's facilities for the past 3 days and its scheduled for tomorrow- oh wait, of course UPS changed the date to Thursday.
Hate UPS, but cant wait to get my hands on the case. Hoping it doesn't have the accursed power button issue (though I reckon it won't be too difficult to fix anyway).

I recently got the slim armor. Quality case. Make sure you play around with putting it on. The buttons are very sensitive as you've probably read elsewhere and would turn the phone off. After about 2 tries I got it on and the buttons are working normally.:good:

Acase Superleggera Pro case review

So like many others who have been waiting for their GS3 to be delivered to their front door steps here in the USA, I've been buying cases so I'd be ready to go from the start. My plan is buy a variety of cheap cases and bumpers to see how they feel in my wee bitty hands. So here is my review of a case worth reviewing. I haven't seen anyone mention this case so I apologize if I'm duplicating something that's already been said.
I picked up this case on Amazon for a little over $12 after shipping costs. It appeared to be marked down from $30 without shipping so I figured It was a steal. So far, I was right. It's size is very slim for a duel layer case. While it does make the phone bigger, it's not too big for my girl hands. It actually makes the phone feel a little better and comfortable in the hand.
The texture of both layers have a nice grip and feel. The matte black hard shell has a soft feel that blends well with the feel of the silicone core.
So far the hardshell has been smudge resistant and I have a good feeling scratch resistant but only time and use will tell on that part. The silicone core appear to be lint resistant, if that's even possible, compared to my Seidio Active case on my Rezound (great case by the way) that collected light to moderate pocket lint.
The case also provides a nice lip around the screen to protect it. The best part of the lip is that it doesn't get in the way of using the phone. It occupies just the right amount of real estate.
Buttons work like the real buttons. No issues with them working properly or having to apply extra pressure.
Summary: I love this case. It's solid, feels great, and was purchased at a great price.

It's actually a $40 case that I got for $12 (price went up already on the black to $12 + s/h) .......I can handle the tiny logo, and if not, I'll get out a black marker.
They have some other colors that are cheaper than the black now. Thinking about picking up a blue one.

Anyone else using this case?
I want to know other users opinion about this case compared to the following cases:
1. Otterbox commuter
2. Incipio Silicrylic
3. Casemate Tough case
Ha! The thread lives! I can't believe more people aren't using this case or at least interested in the case. It's great and almost tripled in price since I first got it. Still cheap enough to equal a valuable purchase.

I checked this on Amazon. All the ratings are either 4 star or 5 star. And there are 44 of them.
Does this means it is the best case for S3 or are they asking the buyers to give good ratings(I have heard some companies do so) ?

Few questions?
How is the back of the hard shell? is it very smooth so that it may slip away from your hand or table?
Also do you know whether it is of the same size and weight of Case mate Tough case?
I had one for my 3d, very nice case. The only reason I got rid of it was the need for a belt holster, but other than that it protected the phone very well and the rubber material did not stretch out or get flimsy.

It's smooth but I wouldn't say slippery. I've been very comfortable holding it without fear of dropping it.
I'm not familiar with the Casemate Tough but I do like it better than my Casemate Pop. The Pop! Case is very slick other than the grips on the side and it feels wider then the Acase.

Do you use a screen protector with your case? A lot of screen protectors that go all the way to the edge of the screen are having problems with a lot of cases. I am using a Zagg HD, and I wanted to know if this case would cause it to bubble up.
Just wanted to add my two cents. Got the case very fast from Amazon. Was worried it wouldn't come but then it was delivered even before my shipping confirmation.
Anyways on to the case. Very good feel too it, not as bulky as i was expecting but still feels secure. Been using it regularly since i got it. Fits well in the pocket and doesn't attract too much lint so far. For the price, highly recommend it

Hey I have the case and yeah you would have to use a screen protector that doesnt go to the edges I had a regular screen protector and the bottom would bubble up because of the case.
I bought this case when it was $6.05 on Amazon and I would pay the current price for it because it is worth it. This is a really good case. I just wish they had made it a holster case.
got my black one this morning and I have to say that it feels great in the hand and fits perfectly.
I previously had the trident aegis and Neo hybrid but hated both of them. this is so much better and half the price. I have the seidio active too which is great to watch things using the kickstand but as an everyday case this blitzes it!
thanks for answering my questions about this in another thread.

UAG gear VS OtterBox Commutor

Hello,
With this topic i would like to ask out of these 2 populair cases wich one is best in your honest opinion?
In my opinion i think so far the UAG is alot more nice and maybe a bit less thick,
But maybe the Commutor is alot more Durable and better against drops? But also a bit uglyer than the UAG.
I am still struggling just due i think it has to be good against drops, Due thats whats a case is for obviously.
I hope you can help me out of this and probably other users aswell since i doubt i am the only one ^^
Best regards,
DrLuigi
Or of course if you have another case wich isnt above 35-40 dollar please say so ^^
But i think these two are the best around for this price tag.
I tried out the commuter at a bestbuy and while the case feels nice. the buttons are insanely hard to press. You have to really press it really hard and you don't get feedback so you don't know if you pressed it or not until the screen reacts.
Other members here have said that it eases up over time but not that much.
I personally have the ballistic sg and it seems to be the nicest for me. (not the maxx, just the sg)

Yeah,
Heard the same thing about buttons, But not becoming lose at all, is what i heard,
Also it just doesnt seem nice anyhow, But its very strong i have heard against drops.
Also i have to say that case seems nice,
But i do think Urban one does look nicer,
But idk about being good against drops or anything.
Trident Case has a few rugged options and I heard they are coming out with a charging case too. They range from $35-$50 but they are having a sale, 25% off everything.
I have the commuter. Highly recommend it for protection. It has saved my phone from so many drops.I think some people exaggerate on how hard the buttons are to press. Yes you have to press them a little harder but not much. I just ordered a Uag case since i heard so many great things about them. Either way I don't you can go wrong with either case.

Any idea when it should arrive?
Just so you could tell us maybe how you think it is?
For example so you could tell us wich one you would prefer as first case?
Due the chance is pretty high i get both aswell (Well or something else ofc like a Power Charge case) , but the second will be for over like 3-4 months so ye
Thanks for the help everyone ^^
For Otterbox commuter and Ballistic SG case, please have a look to my thread as I had deeply compare both. For UAG, there is a thread with more 200k view about the case. It's base on your personal preference. If you want your phone to be protected well (with dust cover), then get a Otterbox Commuter(Dont worry about the button, it will getting better after few weeks of use). If you want a unique looking, protective and less bulky case, then get a UAG case. Currently, commuter is much more cheaper than the UAG. I owned 3 of these ultimate protective case, I guarantee that you wont regret if you get either one. But personally, I recommended UAG..^^

Hai,
Thanks for the explaination,
Did not know there were such topics already there sry ^^
But i also just wanted to know wich one would be better when talking about Quality/Drop/being pretty.
Anyhow ^^
If anyone knows also a pretty cool case please repley ^^
I probably think to buy UAG first, Afterwards perhaps a Otterbox for when i do other stuff that it would be more common it to fall etc etc.
Best regards,
DrLuigi.
Btw how thick is that UAG case?
Since it seems on picture pretty reasonable thin,
But wanted to ask ye first ^^
Also is the back panel plastic smooth or grippy or?
Thanks ^^
I have the aviator UAG. Color isn't great, Gunna get the blue one instead sooner or later. As far as everything goes, great protection, solid feel, all around good quality. Little slippery on the back tho.

So I just got my UAG case and I love it. It does feel a little slimmer than the commuter. I feel as if it is a bit less protection from the otterbox, but it feels so much better in the hands. I saw a drop test on youtube with this case and seems pretty good.
Sent from Flip's S3
I have both and I always find myself going back to my UAG. It fits better in my opinion and has a much thinner profile. The small raised areas on the back corners help it from sliding around when its on its backside on a flat surface. The otterbox on the other hand is slicker they the naked phone itself. The UAG also comes in and out of pocket easier. Lol my advice is extremely one sided, but its some food for thought.
Sent from inside the RootBox.
I personally am a otterbox fan I currently have the following otterbox cases for the s3
-gun metal grey / white defender
-orange / black / realtree camo defender
-red / black defender
-white / gunmetal commuter
-purple / pink commuter
I switch these cases out like switchimg out my underwear
YES THE COMMUTER CASE at first is hard to press the buttoms but the more you use it the better and easier it becomes
I also love otterbox customer service always friendly and have no problem exchanging out your case for you or trying to work out something
Ok so I think I got a defective UAG case. The power button on the case gets stuck when I push a little too hard which sends my phone in a bunch of bootloops. Contacted the seller and hopefully I get a replacement

RINGKE Slim Vs. SPIGEN Ultra Fit (Pictures inside)

So.. I have tried my very best to search if anyone is talking about this in any other thread but can't find nothing on it.
I have the Nexus 4 version of the case and it has done me very well! Although about 10 days ago I broke it cause I always pop it on and off while bored.
The only other case that can compete with this (slimness wise) is the Slim SPIGEN Case.
I don't understand how there isnt a thread on this case nor is there any discussion on it! What gives?
What's your opinions on it? Which one would you choose out the two?
$5.99 RINGKE: http://www.amazon.com/RELEASE-PERFE...qid=1383319011&sr=1-2&keywords=ringke+nexus+5
$ 9.99 SPIGEN: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EV8Y50S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Personally I'm going towards the Ringke case... its cheaper, thinner and looks a little better.
Maybe I'll be swayed towards the Spegen case from you guys!
EDIT/ UPDATE-
Finally got both cases and two phones to compare the two side by side.
After using both of them for a little bit I have decided the Ringke is the better case.
Reasons: Slimmer, covers the phone more, does not have an air gap on the back (you can press the SPIGEN on the back and it will move)
I had to sand both of them down to get rid of the ruff parts.
These super thin cases are way less popular (especially with the younger crowd) than the flashy "hybrid-like" cases that offer more protection and bling. This was the case with the GS4 as well (take a look at those forums).
I personally love the uber thin cases that offer only scratch resistance (and maybe a little drop-proof-ability) but are like having nothing on the phone and not adding to it's bulk. I have the Ringke slim for my GS4 and on the delivery truck a Ringke slim in transit for my N5.
I was very disappointed with the Spigen neo-hybrid for the GS4 and sold it immediately.
The Ringke slim on the other hand is super solid and more professional looking (if you want to call it that ).
I'm sure the Spigen Ultra Fit (Slim) would be very comparable to the Ringke, it looks almost identical in pics and specs
Glad someone brought this up too. I was looking at these two as well and this is something funny i noticed.
the size comparisons between the two are not consistent. SPIGEN reports a .3mm thicker phone but otherwise its the same size.
I'm leaning toward the RINGKE as well. cheaper if i ordered two of those with shipping than to order 2 of the Spigen and get something else for 1.02$ to hit the free shipping mark at 25.

Why exactly were you disappointed with the Neo Hybrid for S4? I had my eyes on the Champagne Gold Neo Hybrid for N5.
I'm personally not a fan of the Slim series as it doesn't offer protection for the top and bottom of the device. Whereas, the Galaxy Nexus Slim it covered the whole phone 360 and kept its slim factor.

I totally understand about the protection the slim series cases don't offer. It's all about preference indeed.
That said, I didn't like the neo-hybrid because it felt like a gimmick (if that makes sense). In other words it felt and looked like they made a case to just look "cool" rather than making a case to form fit a phone. It does offer more protection than the slim fit cases though. It was also too "square" looking for me once on the phone. Made the GS4 look iPhone-ish to my eyes.
Funny thing though....I sold it to my 17 yr old nephew (well it was free but he paid shipping) and he thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. :good:

I like the slimness but the top/bottom exposed is a no-no for me. I really wonder why they decided to go with that design. This is the Galaxy Nexus Slim I was referring to http://www.rearthusa.com/sprint_verizon_galaxy_nexus_slim.html slim factor and top/bottom protected.
Hmm, I guess that is true with the Champagne Gold. I just like the mixture between the two colors. So more or less its just aesthetics/appearances on your part but nothing of the case. I was just reading that the older versions of it have had peoples' outer part of the case to crack. Which was the same case for me when I had the official LG bumper for N4 so that was definitely worrisome.
Haha, I think its a pretty neat case too. Looks nice.

Yup, ya never know when the N5 might take a tumble to the pavement and land on the top/bottom or the screen (ouch)!
Oh I think the neo-hybrid looks great in a picture that's why I ordered it. On my GS4 was a different story. The plastic piece on mine felt like it would break very easily, but I don't know which version I had.
Go for it get what ya want. You can always return it and they're so cheap nowadays you don't really miss out on much by doing so

They're so cheap that its not even worth sending it back with the shipping fee.. plus I'm lazy Neo Hybrid is actually ~$19.99 as of right now.
Can't wait for the accessory party to finally begin and a bunch of nexus 5 videos of accessory unboxing/reviews to appear. It will make our jobs a lot easier.
Its kind of funny seeing Rearth and Spigen practically offer the same case and design and names. Slim/Hybrid, what is up with that anyway?

lol very true!
idk maybe they're owned by a same parent company?
Only problem I have with these cases is that when I always use one I notice that they tend to scratch your phone with the way they snap on.

I thought about that too when I first ordered the Ringke slim. To my delight there is not one scratch on my GS4 (had since launch) caused from the case and I've taken it on and off over a dozen times.
Edit: I will say however, that the case is tough to get off! It's snaps on easily and extremely secure
I like to wash them every week
Yeah I had one on my N4 and went to take it off (like to get the lint off every once and a while) and it scuffed one of the corners. Most people wouldn't notice but it threw my ocd into over drive aft err that lol.

Yeah exactly why I stopped using cases. I never liked cases, prefer naked. But got the slim ringke for my gnex a couple years ago. Loved the slimness but ended up scratching my phone.
I pop my case on and off all the time and it has never scratched my N4. Maybe its just the N4 that doesn't scratch.
The reason I like these slim cases is because it does add much bulk and it keeps the design of the phone some what. I'm the kind of person that has never dropped their phone on a hard surface. Worst surface iv dropped it on is carpet which was from my lap.
I'm thinking of buying both now cause I can't make my mind up at all!

Lol I was a accessory crazy guy in N4. Trying to make my first purchase the most satisfied one and stick with it im leaning towards the Neo Hybrid
Had a ringke slim on both my s3 and s4. Have one on order for the n5 as well.
Really like the s4 case but certainly not for someone that drops their phone all the time.

just ordered the spigen ultra fit soft matte white for my black nexus 5
i hate cases. so much attention and value is dedicated to the aesthetics and build quality of a phone only to be covered up by an uglier case. my gf has an iphone, a really beautiful phone, and she covers it up with the most hideous otterbox. in her case it is warranted because she is a clutz, but it bothers me every time i see it. i liken it to buying a really nice sports car and then covering it up in foam to drive around.
BUT... i've had my current phone for 1.5 years and i remember the feeling when i dropped it the first day i bought it... it felt bad. only a small scratch but i swear i stared at that scratch and rubbed my finger over it so many times the first week in regret. hopefully this case will be minimal enough and good feeling enough so that i will keep it on my phone. but i'm predicting i'll keep it on for about 2 weeks before i decide i just want my phone beautiful and nude.
why spigen over ringke? well first off i wanted matte and second off ringke advertises "world's thinnest case" and then proves it with a picture of a nexus 5 with the wrong thickness measurement. so i had to dock them for semi false advertising.
the spigen and ringke were both $10 for me with shipping and handling included.
Has anyone bought a Ringke Slim case from Rearth and actually recieved their Nexus 5 yet?
How does it fit? Any comments/reviews would be fun to hear. I'm still waiting for both to arrive.

Spigen Neo Hybrid Review

The Spigen Neo Hybrid for the Nexus 5 is a solid case. I've received it from Amazon yesterday for a mere $20 and this case has been performing really well so far. All the ports are nicely cut and positioned. One drawback I've noticed is that the power and volume rocker buttons do have space to wiggle around a bit. You can slightly hear them rattling if you shake your phone but they aren't too big of a problem. The USB cutout is large and wide, making it possible to use almost any charging cable. The same applies to the headphone jack. The back of the case tends to show a few fingerprints but they can be wiped off easily. The case does provide a lip, so it is possible to lay the phone on the screen without worrying too much about getting it scratched (though it is not a big enough lip to be protective during falls on rough surfaces). I've attached a good amount of pictures since I am able to post them yet. Overall, I would recommend this case to someone because it's sleek and sturdy despite a few small drawbacks.
Nice

I've got the same case. Looks good. I'm still waiting for my phone though.
I've had my Neo Hybrid (silver edging) taunting me while sitting on the nightstand since Saturday. Cannot wait for my phone to arrive tomorrow.
Nice review. I've just ordered the Spigen ultra hybrid (with clear back) from Amazon. I'll post some pics and findings as soon as I have it.
is the case itself heavy?

Not really. The case doesn't add much bulk to the phone itself other than changing the size of the phone a tad bit.

I did find that it added a lot in dimension in height and width, but not thickness. Makes the phone feel slightly larger than a G2 even.

The only phone I have to compare it with is the Samsung S3 and the case does make the Nexus 5 larger than the S3 (You can pretty much fit the S3 on the Nexus and there will still be a small amount of room on the sides).

Have you tried it the phone and the case on a wireless Qi charger yet? If so, did it work?

Yes it works.
Also have this case, although not as impressed with it.
The biggest complaint is the buttons. The buttons don't have a great feel to them. They wiggle (as mentioned by OP) all the time, the phone is actually annoyingly loud to move around (it's not loud, but it's certainly noticeable).
Other complaint is the USB port. While the OP thinks it's big enough, I can't fit in my Monster MicroUSB cable (I know all the hate about Monster, but the cable is 3" and was under $1 at Frys at one point). Wouldn't typically be a problem, but I use this cable a lot.
The headphone jack does allow my headphones to fit, but it's very close. Not sure if other headphones will have issues, but I'd be slightly worried about it.
Besides those complaints, it's a solid case. It looks great, appears that it'd protect the phone well. All in all, I am not planning on replacing it any time soon... unless my "ideal" case happens to come out... We shall see! The Qi charger still works through the case, along with NFC tags that I've tried thus far.

I ordered one of these which came today. Not real happy with it, as the "clear" back really ISN'T "clear", kinda milkyish and that's after scrubbing at it with a microfiber cleaning cloth for many minutes. The slim armor is easily better, even if it lacks a transparent back.

Did you remove the protective films off both sides of the clear plastic parts? Majority of the people who bought this didn't realize there's something protecting the plastic...

have you checked out the supcase? I just ordered one. It has black borders and frosted clear back, which should help hide scratches and dust.
Have this case and pretty happy with it as well. I just wish the power button was flush with the case. Don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I accidentally hit power all the damn time...
I just received my neo hybrid case... I am not a big fan at all. It makes the phone super bulky. I think this case is awesome for those wanting protection with style but I think I'm going to risk it and go with a skin or just naked.

yea I feel the same way. Am waiting on my diztronic, as well as the supcase unicorn beetle. The thing with the neo hybrid is that it made it boxy as well as wider and taller, which made it very hard to hold and feel bulky. Not to mention taking it off was a chore.
I just got this case today and it is nice. But honestly the phone has a nice rubberized back and sides where I don't feel a case is always necessary. The case adds major width. But it is high quality.

I felt the same way, this phone is just so damn sexy naked. (Did I just type that...) Anyway, I want my phone to remain that way so I left it on, and it's definitely grown on me. I'm happy with it enough that I'm just going to leave it on.

Best case??

Could someone recommend a case that has good protection? I was looking at the spigen hybrid does anyone have a word on it??
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I have the Spigen hybrid, and it's a pretty good case that seems like it would withstand a decent drop. The thing I would say about it is that there's a pretty large gap near the bottom of the case near the charging port that allows a lot of dust to get under the case. Also, the power and volume buttons on the side don't stick out so it can be hard to tell where they are without looking. Overall it's a pretty decent case but I think I'm going to consider looking at other alternatives.

I'm new to the Nexus 5 (well, it should come tomorrow) and had some of the same questions about "best case" and "best induction charger" and all. I was pleased to find out how many threads there were in this section that covered those topics. There were five or six just on cases and around the same on chargers in the just the first couple pages, several of which had lots of photos and opinions.
I think "best case" is a lot like "best ROM" -- As soon as you have even a couple good choices, it is all about what of the little details work for you and which don't.

This pretty much.
I had a spigen ultra hybrid but I just wasn't a fan, it scratched up pretty easy too (clear back), and yeah I did remove the protective film on it.
I have a spigen ultra fit now, Not bulky, but if I had a horrific drop it'll definitely still break. But it feels like the Nexus 5 back and the protection is at least adequate.

Same with me...I have the spigen ultra fit and it feels nice in the hand and fits snug. And I never drop my phone so something minimal like that is good enough for me.

Ballistic has 4 cases available right now. I have the SG maxx (now tough jacket maxx) and the jewel. I like them both, but I use the jewel more - less bulky, feels nicer in the hand. They don't mention the material in the description, but it is a clear tpu case.

Had the Spigen Hybrid as well based on the resounding praise for it on here. However, although the protection offered was top notch and it looks really sharp (white especially), I found the button covers extremely annoying. Maybe it was just my case, but I found that I really had to push hard for volume/lock screen functions to register. In fact, I was close to cutting them out entirely. I know I sound like a sloth, but going forward, I won't invest in another case that covers the buttons unless it's a thinner/less rugged material.
Trident aegis. I dropped mine on the way out of the car with my new nexus 5 in it. When I want to go get in the car the next morning the phone and case were frozen in a large block of ice I picked I picked up the ice and threw it (don't do that it was stupid of me to try). The phone skidded across my driveway and when I picked it up it was fine only some scratches on the case!!!!!

A bit thicker than most tpu cases, like cruzerlite, more of a raised lip, and bubbled out corners to direct impact away from the corners. The lip was a bit thick, and caused bubbles at the corners of my glass screen protector, but I shaved a bit from the inside lip at the corners, and that fixed it.

I have pretty much all the popular N5 cases an right now my favorite is the speck candyshell. Feels great in the hand, not too bulky and buttons have great feedback. Highly recommend it. Another one i really like is the diztronic tpu case
