How to root with stupid knox - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Use this Google Kingo Root app
1. Let it install driver
2. Let SuperSu keep trying to get access and phone will keep rebooting because of knox
3. Eventually the program is going to try to root thru Odin
4. Download Root Explorer or another file browser who need root access
5. Now go in root and delete
system/app = knox apps
system/container = knox apps
etc/secure-storage = knox folder
libs/ = libKnox
6. When done install SuperSu from the market.
7. Let it update SU.
8. Done!!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy root, bye bye KNOX

is there going to be the update already rooted??
thanks in advance

Does this the trigger the Void Warranty in the bootloader?

I've already done this the very moment update got onto my phone.
I also used this same program for my note 3. Worked well.
Good luck to everyone else.

hmm strange i didn't have to do all that knox thing. Kingo actually just rooted my phone after 2 restarts. It never got to the Odin part.

well I have no reason to lie about it.
here's exactly what I did.
Downloaded kingo
had to download Dev settings to enable uab debugging cause I couldn't find it on 4.3
enabled USB debugging
installed drivers
restarted once. saw the konx error thing telling me it stopped an unauthorized whatever.
the root permission window came up and I clicked allow and phone retstarted again and I was rooted.

Well your phone ask you if you want to enable usb debugging when trynna use the program. And yea everyone's rooted with knox on there. But knox isn't gonna let you do anything unless you remove it or freeze. It but I'm sure when you find that out nobody's gonna know cause your gonna maintain the fact that your knox is different from ours!!!! But I'm gonna still keep it the same. People need to remove knox period!!!! To avoid the some apps work and some don't conversation

I'll remove all the knox files just in case and thank you for the information. I noticed that Knox isn't enabled in my device manager. I mean it doesn't let me disable or enable it but there's no check mark next to it. I'm assuming that it's on no matter what but just throwing it out there. Thanks again

Worked great thanks bro . Rooted and even installed twrp via odin with no problems.....4.3 rooted custom recovery woo hooo.....screw knox

we are group of people use L900 in china, one of dude update 4.3 today but cant connect with odin.
we try to use your software to del knox, but its too complexity
just download root master, u can seach"root大师“ by any search engine, can be link to .
u can get rooted your phone 4.3 with in min. after u taking control ,
just following step 4-5
4. Download Root Explorer or another file browser who need root access
5. Now go in root and delete
system/app = knox apps
system/container = knox apps
etc/secure-storage = knox folder
libs/ = libKnox
its much more easy and faster.

Pretty quick. I'm rooted on 4.3 now.
I downloaded this to get USB Debugging settings.

To get setting for debugging just go to settings then more at the top then click on built number 5 times for debugging but I been doing this root thing for 10 minutes and it keep saying root failed. Is this normal

I do recall reading something about doing the opposite, temporarily unrooting in order for the OTA to install properly then enabling root again, but I can't for the life of me remember where or how it was done. It was just a tap of a button is all I can remember. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Actually I was trying to remember OTA Rootkeeper, but it's nice to know of this method too. Once you install OTA Rootkeeper it allows you to temporarily unroot.
Clear and safe temporary rooting?
I have no need for custom ROMs etc, just want to make complete backup, perhaps remove some apps and for curiosity try to run some game data analyzers. Can I do this with temporary rooting and is there some clear and safe howto for the S3 (currently seems to have JB 4.1.2) ?
What I want is to temp-root the phone, do some magic and then after restart use the original rom without root.
(Little OT, but if I do a permanent root and then unroot the phone, will I lose some data? They talk about "wipeout" and it sounds like a permanent lose of data.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ari

There is no such thing as "temporary root". You either have it, or you don't. You have the option (through root access) to remove root when you are finished with it.
You will not lose any data. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
I didn't answer the how to question because the answers are in the stickies.

You have to have:
Samsung Kies installed
Enable USB debug in dev section (hit about device greyed out area few times to enable)
Open command window and type in the location of adb.exe, and type in the following:
adb reboot download
This brings the phone to Odin mode, extract the package and open Odin, hit PDA and locate the .tar file, and hit start (make sure you don't touch anything else). Once it has done, the phone will go to recovery and install SuperSU for you.
A friendly reminder: the unit Knox Warranty Void will become 0x1, so think twice if you want to sell it in the future.

Everytime root comes out for a new device someone asks this question. Sometimes it has even been myself.
I really wish OPs would disclose this as for most it doesn't matter, however, there is a good chunk that do care if the custom counter is tripped and now since knox is a factor, whether its check is triggered.
It can matter when a device is returned for warranty purposes and is important to know.
Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2295749&d=1380658716
I hear it will trip the knox trigger to 0x1 - not sure if odin'ing would fix this or not.

Hi,
First reboot phone once and see if subscription nag pops up again, if so see below:
Do me a favor (I would appreciate it) Click restore via HFA, let the phone reboot and finish HFA(you won't lose any data promise)
With a file explorer navigate to data/data/com.android.porviders.telephony/databases/telephony.db
pm me this file or post it here (no unique data in it so no worries)
I will get you all sorted out.
Thanks

It absolutely did with TDunham's DeOdexed version.
Obtained root using tdunham [STOCK ROM][4.4.4] NK4 Kitkat ROM DeOdexed. Followed all the instructions on that thread. Im using TWRP recovery.
Downloaded Galaxy Tools from the play store. Says Galaxy Tools v2.2.0. su: Using: 2.13:SUPERSU
I click on "Enable Native Hotspot" and the phone restarts. I go back into the GT app and click on Wifi Hotspot settings and turn the hotspot on. Everytime I do this I get a pop up that says I am not subscribed.
I have uninstalled the GT app and reinstalled. Cleared all data for SU app. No matter what I do I always get the pop up saying I am not subscribed.
Any suggestion?

It turns out that GalaxyTools is not working for me either. Since I had root, I had to ODIN the NK2 tar file to my phone and not take OTA. I then factory reset the phone for a clean start. I did notice that the APN is greyed out when I try access it using ##DATA# command with MSL to edit. Maybe something is not letting GalaxyTools edit the APN setting.
Finally decided to do it using SQLite editor and rebooted. Native hotspot is now working.
I am sure GalaxyTools will soon get updated to accommodate this limitation.
In the meantime, just use SQLite.

Yes just uncheck auto reboot in GalaxyTools and it will be ok, next update I'll make it check after it writes the change before I have it reboot It seems for some the root request is just not passed or granted fast enough, I will make sure in next version this cannot happen.
