[Q] Can't push files to phone, related to MTP drivers? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

So I'm an Android developer who usually works on a mac or my PC laptop with no issues connecting and pushing/pulling files from my S3. I have been trying to do this on my desktop PC however and find that I can only pull files from the phone, not push them. I've tried doing this just via the Windows UI, the developer ADB UI, and running adb commands via console. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers several times and that hasn't changed my luck either.
I think it has something to do with the MTP drivers on my computer:

Full disclosure, I'm not running a legit version of Windows 7, and I suspect that is the root of the problem (my laptop is running a legit version of Windows 8 and never causes a problem).
I've searched around for any answers regarding the MTP driver, but the best I can find is an old link on Microsoft's website for Windows XP or Vista which requires a product key for that version of Windows...
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks a lot.

It shouldn't matter if your copy of Windows legit or not. Try uninstalling the drivers from control panel, then install the drivers with administrator permission.

Gave that a shot, it didn't give me the MTP error this time, but it still hangs up when I try to push something to the device.

Try going into Kies and reinstalling the drivers from there ( Its somewhere at the top)
Then connect your device while kies is opened and the drivers are reinstalled. I had a similar error and fixed the MTP. If you can't push files to a device, try to unlock the lockscreen?
Never heard of that sort of problem. I hope you get it fixed.

Can't see anywhere to upgrade drivers via Kies (which I reinstalled). I can't push any files to Kies either... but I can view all my files on the device and pull from it. All drivers seem to be installed correctly.

ON my win7 32bit I didn't install any drivers to get access as MTP/PTP. I get the above by default. However installing Kies allowed me to transfer my SMS/Contacts/Pics from itunes
Honestly, I haven't tested it without having a driver installed
doesnt the GS3 show photos on sdcard as thumbnails when connected to pc ? they only show properly when using kies
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe version 1.5.5.0
http://www.mediafire.com/?7zdblmy1o390eot
Drivers updated to v1.5.5.0.
No matter what drivers I try or what PC I use the S3 fails to be recognised properly.
Installs except for the MTP drivers and has 'error 10'...does seem odd.
Even tried a Linus based system and it did even react to the phone being connected.

No disrespect towards the developer but if it was not developed by him then should it not go to the General section?

Windows media player 11

I tried ODIN but still my device wont recognize by my computer. I tried Gnex tool kit, Rootkit and heres my device manager looks like
I hope someone can help me.
That looks like a problem with the drivers you have installed on your computer. It should show up under Android Phone and then have Android ADB Interface (or Samsung Android ADB Interface). Try installing the drivers from here.

You need to manually update the driver in device manager, try the below one. If it says installation failed due to unsigned drivers, then disable signature verification in your PC and try install again

It still don't work.
Right click on Android Bootloader Interface
Then connect your phone to the computer
Click on update driver
Select Browse my computer for drivers.
Then select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
Click Next and let it complete
If you still face any issue download updated adb and fastboot drivers
ADB and FASTBOOT DRIVERS
I get this error message:
It means This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Updated also not help.
Is this always so difficult on Windows?

No it is not. Uninstall the Android Bootloader drivers and restart your computer. Restart using restart button
Then connect your phone and see if it solves your problem.

Try this one, i'm used this in in my Windows 8 and it worked perfectly, it should work in Windows 10 too.
thanks to mvikrant97 I can now unlock my phone.
My Rzyen 5 3600 CUP had some issues with the driver. We used the "AMD Ryzen USB controller fix.zip".

Question USB tethering

Any way to disable Samsung's 'cable detection' feature? USB tethering doesn't work because device doesn't recognize cable. I'm using original one and tried new and older cables also. I've had similar problems with another Samsung devices before and it's pretty annoying. WIFI is too slow and bluetooth even slower compared to USB so I don't like using them. Device just keeps telling use original cable and starts charging slowly.
Also the usb c port is cleaned, tried restarting device several times, tried all usb ports of my pc. I'm using Windows 10 pro. All drivers are updated and I have newest Samsung drivers.
Turn on Developer options and try setting it up there. No blocked or disabled Samsung system apps, right?

Tried that but it doesn't work. Also Windows is saying it can't recognize usb-device. I have disabled YouTube only because I use another app for that.

Hit take no action in the Windows connect popup*. Then go to Disk Management and punch scan for new devices. Access the drive in that window and do the transfers there. Command line can also be used to access Disk Management etc.
Try rolling back or updating the driver. Installing the latest version of SmartSwitch on Windows should load the correct driver.
*you must authorize the connection first on the Android via a popup window that should appear after being connected.
Not working. Reinstalled all usb drivers including Samsung ones. Smartswitch is not working because Windows can't recognize this device at all. Maybe I just reinstall Windows some day and try if it works then. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.
Try another port and cable.
Reboot, always reboot Windows.
Check Event Viewer for error messages.
For Windows to recognize the device you sometimes need to use the scan for new devices command in Disk Management. The solution is likely simple and right in front of you.
Play with it... fun times.
