Roms with full GPU support

Hi guys. In last few months I was testing some roms. mainly popular roms like energized, virtuous, revolution etc, ilwt etc.
The conclusion is that I am searching for FAST rom, without need to supercharge or swap. But I want full gpu support like in sense 3,5 roms.
ILWT does not have full gpu support but is fast (have its own set of problems like bad wifi signal etc)
Sense3,5 roms are very nice and have full ardeno suport but are painfully slow...
The gpu support is needed mainly for watching video files on a phone. files in 540p+, 720p etc are working terrible slow on sense 2,0 roms, ilwt etc.
And with gpu support, sense 3,5 roms are rocking 720p files like no problem.
I was testing many players and my favourite is MX. hardware decoding is just greyed out on non-full-gpu roms.
Any ideas how to turn on that feature as it is in sense3,5 roms (and maybe 3,0 was not testing) ?
What roms would You recommend with speed overall ?

ILWT has GPU support, you can enable it via blade buddy...
try it! i disabled it once, and the phone got terribly slow

I've tried it. Nothing.
Hardware acceleration still was not present in video players

i'm using it right now:
latest ILWT CM7 ROM
MX video player
and the button on the top right says HW on 720p video

Really?! So it works on latest version ?!
Dang... right when I installed other rom
Can I know, what arome settings do you choose ? Whenever i installed ilwt I was leaving everything on default.

Nope. just installed latest ILWT and its blazing fast but 720p videos crawl while they were smooth on sense 3,5... MX does not allow me to choose hardware decoding... hmmm... there mus be a way.
Also again - my wifi signal is way worse than with any other sense rom... the hell
I want to use that rom! it's fastest devil avaible!

I have 443 installed and can't find this option anywhere now...
And mx vidoe player does not allow hd decoding

download an app from the market called "blade buddy" (free from the play store)
launch it and go to advanced settings, then make sure that debug.sf.hw is 1

I am using stock rom. I am using bs player free and Diceplayer, and both are playing videos using HW. did you tried either of them?

It is turned on in the blade buddy.
About players - They have nothing to do with it. At all.
If rom supports it, then 720p will just work. No matter what player. On sense 3 3,5 roms (not sure if all those roms) 720p videos plays just as fast like every other lower res video. In stock player, mx. Whatever.
On aosp roms like cm, ILWT, Hardware option is greyed out and videos run terribly slow on cpu only. Maybe I should try other kernels than ilwt

The Andromadus Audacity Beta 4 ROM settings has option to enable 'Force GPU Rendering'. The picture attached.

Thanks for the DSP Manager links! I have been using Equalizer for months but decided to test DSP manager now, and it really rocks! I like that it is a system app as well and that it works for all players. I use Spotify, Google Music, and Pocket Casts, so I need an equalizer that works for several music players. Equalizer would sometimes not work perfectly, but DSP Manager seems solid!

Dsp all the way. I used to use power amp and never cared much for dsp but the Apollo / dsp combo is fantastic.

Huge fan of PowerAmp. I love the UI and the fact that it does gapless perfectly.
I do however keep the EQ turned off. The Klipsch S4 sound great with the GNex set flat.

old poweramp's fan...but onestly from a month i switched to apollo\dsp manager or n7 player pro\dsp manager and i'm going very well.anyway also the use of only poweramp rocks,always used on ginger and for times on gnex.after posting in this 3ad,i want to re-switch to poweramp and give it a try with newest updates.well done phone_user,good 3ad!

DSP manger FTW

Surprised volume + isn't on this list. It makes the speaker sound way better and twice as loud. But if I was to pick from op's list I would say equalizer.

I personally get better sound using poweramp. And I love the player because it actually shows the right album art.

I agree 100%,Volume+ in first then Equalizer since it's on the list
And probably it's ridiculous but Volume+:75Ko/Equalizer:2,1M... and more RAM used just for a sound app(ok more features than Volume+ like widgets).
But since this thread is not a comparo between Volume+ and....I choose Equalizer.

I don't really use a music effects app, because honestly I don't know what their potential is... never really played around. But does it make that much of a difference (i.e. better music quality)? If so, which app and settings do you recommend? Screenies w/ setup please.

It does help quite a bit. I notice the stock audio sounds so flat and dull... with equalizer I up the treble and bass cuz it also lacks the thump I like. I listen to a lot of metal and sub genres of that...(metalcore, Hardcore, etc) so the higher treble sounds nice. Here is where my equalizer is at. The treble is a tad high but you can always lower it to your liking. I have the same "v" shape on my laptop with beats audio.

Now that we have S-Off, I have been going over the ROMS that are showing up. I need to know if anyone can point me at a ROM where the Ringtone/Notification sounds have been unlinked. I cannot stand the fact that they are tied together.

+1 I am surprised nobody including myself has brought that up yet. It would be fantastic!!

I just realized that they are together and it's really annoying....

I am with you, it is driving me crazy. Basically all the original development roms work, I have tried Vanir (even donated, it works great) and the cm rom. I ran Vanir as my daily driver for about three weeks. The only issue I have with these are (and it may be my imagination) is the sound and camera. With stock you get Beats and I swear it sounds better. You also get the stock camera that has ZOE (which I don't fully appreciate yet but never will if I don't play with it). Also no Blinkfeed (oh, well, darn!) Audio Control from Play store is the only app that I found that will compensate, and it works pretty good. I wish I did not have to use a 3rd party app to make this work. I think it works by tricking the phone, sort of. You select custom ringer and select that level. Notifications and ringtone are still the same but it grabs the call and resets the volume before it rings and then lets it go after it's done. Very clumsy way of explaining but I know it works and allows me to use whatever notification sound I want for individual apps. Most of the other apps out there will over ride these settings and use a default selected tone.

I looked at the Audio Control app and a few others. None of them really did what I want. Like you said.... clumsy approach.
I keep thinking one of the ROMs has to have this feature. The CM 10.1 JB variant for my Droid3 has this, so I am not sure why it does not show up more often. If I was talented enough coder ( and brave enough ) I would build a ROM myself.

Yep, me too. I script a little bit but any of the code that I've fooled with is copy, paste, cross fingers. Like I said above though, Vanir and the CM roms have this feature, but you do have to go into the sound settings and uncheck the box that says link them together. I think all the ASOP based roms are like this. I'm giving Ecliptic (Sense based) a spin right now. If you hold down the home key on this one you get the expanded menu with quick settings, and you can independently manipulate them there, but it does nothing. I hope that at some point this will be picked up and fixed. I've posted a few requests for this feature in the various threads but only one developer came back with a reply and it was basically that he didn't know how. I just don't think there is enough people that notice this and are bothered by it for a developer to look into it. Same thing happened when I needed a kernel with driver support for the Galaxy Tab plus. I was trying to crack WEP for pen testing with the tablet and could not put the nic in promiscuous mode. I finally made my own kernel but only with limited success. Just don't have the talent.

I can now schedule quiet times for the notification and reduced volume for the ringer and night. WooHoo! Working on Stock Vzw M7_1.10.605.10.

Unfortunately no, when you run the app for the first time, it prompts you for root access to install audio drivers required

There is a thread that does IRS requests so you can use it conjunction, to get you to that right sound.

Viper4Android FX v2.3.3.0 not working with Spotify
i'd just a bought a Note4 N910U (HK version). Rooted perfectly with CF, so that i could use V4A with Spotify just as i did with my i9505, but not joy. V4A, works with Google Play though - I checked the driver status in V4A, and it says processing = Yes. Not so with Spotify.
I've have tried disabling SoundAlive and AdaptSound. I've also moved V4A using TI backup to system app.
Any hints?

have you went into to Settings>Sound>Music Effects> Then choose ViperFX for your Default? You can always uninstall then reeinstall make sure you didnt miss the disable LPA

yeah, i had changed the sound settings too.
The other thing i did just now was edit my build prop. My original build.prop didn't have the lpa lines in there, so i added it in - it was a bit gutsy as i didn't fancy restoring my rom on day 2 of having the note 4. Restarted, and again, no joy.
Does anyone else have V4A working with Spotify on Note 4?

tried all 3 of them buddy... battery saving, high quality and super high quality.
i only use Spotify for my music needs, so it's bit frustrating v4a ain't working on my N910U, whereas it was perfect on i9505 Though like i said, it works fine in Google Music.
i've been thinking about the differences between i9505 and N910U, and maybe its could be 4.4.4 or the new touchwhiz, but then if you guys have got Spotify working on your N910x then i'm probably going to have put some extra time aside and maybe start from scratch... :crying:
That said, Note4 has only just got released in some countries the other day so maybe others might have a similar prob and an easy fix...

Maybe it has to do with the exynos chip you have, let me make sure Spotify works for me because I rarely use it.

Open viper up, press menu, new profile, save it as something random just so viper can make a directory and then save it under viper/kernel folder. You should see that the one you created should be there as well. Then press menu again on the app and press load profile and you should see the bass one

for some reason, my menu doesn't have the "new profile" option in it
viper is working, and sounds great, I just wanted to try your .prf profile..
do I need to load the viper xhifi too?

I'm sorry it's save new profile. And xhifi is implemented on this one so everything is set up

I use the custom setting, and adjust the bands below the line. However you cannot use the Bass or Virtualizer with the speaker. The speaker is too small and weak for those adjustments IMO.

Coming from v20 OP prettuly news to me is there any audio mods on this device? Btw im root..missing dolby atmos...is there any magisk sound mod work so far...and yeah would like prefer Bluetooth mod...since i only got Bluetooth headphone...

I'm missing Atmos as well. You may want to look at Viper4Android if you're rooted.

Yeah absolutely! Just installed viper and work the way should work...i assume that dolby not support pie at moment but i guess viper work for me now...

I'm on OOS 9.0.5 I didn't notice it doing anything to change the sound signature.

I'm still on 9.0... Tmo... I notice that it works on some streaming apps but not all. Works with Gmusic for sure. It does work on speaker as well. Not nearly the best EQ but it's usable.

I just got the T-Mobile 6t and I came from an LG G6 . And I noticed a big difference in sound quality in Bluetooth.
I had to recalibrate my car stereo eq settings in my car.
To me it's a downgrade in audio quality. Less bass and just doesn't have the umph. anymore.

Same here...came from v20 Bluetooth audio huge difference... volume is not that loud via BT i has dolby Atmos on v20 and sound amazing compared to OP...i used Viper to increase volume but seem it dont do anything...looking for a way to increase volume...

I didn't install yet but to involve in the discussion, for me compared to my nexus 6p it's a noticeable difference with the Bluetooth, it's better then I had before. Also via Android auto it's better quality then I had before.

I didn't install yet but to involve in the discussion, for me compared to my nexus 6p it's a noticeable difference with the Bluetooth, it's better then I had before. Also via Android auto it's better quality then I had before.

I came from my trusty dialy driver the OG Moto X Pure -Rooted - with Sauron Audio Mod and Dolby Atoms EQ. The sound is phenomenal through BT even with the outdated codec. I hope to get the 6T to that level and even better. Patiently waiting to root my TMO Variant. On a side note; the sound from the 6T is pretty good through my gen1 QC35s.

You may have use your preferred Android file manager. Go to your Downloads/XDA Forums folder and install from there.

No prob!

Installed non root tmo.
It MAY be doing something but I can't really tell with the speaker...using headphones I can tell more(bass effect works etc)
I need to pay this phone off before I can root it LOL, that's a new one........just got it with EIP.
Viper is only reason I see the need to root tho. This phone is fantastic. Coming from s8.

I don't notice a difference, using Spotify or YouTube

After you install it.. Go and switch off the battery optimize for the app so it won't stop when playing music
