Hmm, most likely a hardware or ROM issue, If not, Camera JB+ from the Play Store is exactly like the stock camera.

I can't promise that this will work for you, but I went into my phone system/app and deleted Camera 2 and Gallery 2 apks and ran the APK I have attached which includes the camera. And my camera is working perfectly now.

I installed that apk but when I go into the settings if forecloses I want to use the the power or volume button as a physical camera button if there is a way for that work

honestly CM team need to rework their camera from the ground app to the UI, (THE ONLY THING I HATE ABOUT CM roms) so either go back to a 4.1.2 touchwiz rom or upgrade to 4.3 also with stock touchwiz
am sure there are camera apps that can replace cm's camera in the Play Store

Hi
I have the i9300 with CM11 - 20131206. My pictures are OK, but I want to store the pictures on external SD-Card. The camera on CM 11 cannot do this. I have tried the Camera ICS, because the Camera JB+ is not for free. The ICS should also can store on SD-Card, but I don't have this option in the camera settings. I don't want to buy the JB+, when I'm not sure, that it will work with this option. Can anybody help me, please?
regards
Friedrich

hi. i just installed JB+ camera from 4shared, and it's working very well, but there is still no option to save the pics on sd card.

There is a module for the xposed framework which will save pictures the external sd.

Camera is still work in progress, so you can expect some distorsions, glitches etc.
Try clearing camera data - settings/manage apps/all/...
This is still an alpha build, so it's not expected to be perfect. I still get weird distortions with the gapps v7 camera, although bar code scanner works perfectly.
It work better for me with the Camera360 app.
But not perfect yet...
Well when the list of working and not working shows as "camera(kind of)" I wouldn't expect it to be anything like cm7 considering when CM does release it will be CM9.

If you flash the Alpha10 and then you flash gapps your stock cam isn't the right one. Gapps have a Camera.apk. You can remove the CameraGoogle.apk from gapps zip before flash it or remove CameraGoogle.apk from /system/app/ and push the one in Alpha10's zip

I use FXcamera and it works well for me.
But no zoom inside this app...
Can anyone confirm this?
As written in developer forums for quattro or andromadus roms. Camcorder is still not working. Camera is working but still glitchy, and best solution to remove glitches is to set the camera to VGA resolution. yes for someone VGA resolution may be not the solution but, the camera in g2 is really not so good and if you want to take higher quality pictures i think it is better to use "real" camera not camera embed into phone.

and why to use zoom - our device is not supporting "real" zoom. just SW zoom, what means, software will crop, and then upsample the image from camera. This process will just make your "zoomed" pictures look much worser in the end of the process.

I downloaded the flashable zip and installed it on my TMo GS3. Works fine. PhotoSphere heated up the phone a bit. Had the Camera crash taking a regular photo. That's about it thus far, but I really havent had a chance to properly test ad nauseum.

The reason why it force closes is because you can't normally take a picture with just hitting the button you have to to
Tap the screen (manually focus) then wait for it to focus and hit button. Everything works properly when doing that. So basically manual focus every time is needed
I don't see the stop button whenever I use the Photo Sphere or Panoramic mode. I'm running PA 2.52.

Edit: I flashed photosphere. Then the new camera app installed; however, it force closes when opening the camera app.
I just tried on Shelnut2 CM 10( build 6.27).
What I did to make it work was (using Titanium Backup) uninstall Gallery. You will get a notice if you want t, uninstall gallery2.apk, hit yes. Then install Google edition camera apk and the camera should work with 13 MP, not reboot necessary (although it is recommended).

Interesting, in Titanium, I see Gallery 1.1.400001 and when I try to un-install, it says "Cannot remove system app, Failed to locate the apk file"
It's weird because with other system apps, I can remove without issue.
Edit: Figured it out. It was because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file causing it to force close.

It should work on stock roms as others have done it. I don't think it replaces the stock camera, instead you may have 2 camera apps (make a backup of the current camera/gallery app before installing).
Have you tried just installing it like a normal app? That should work.

from what ive searched and found around the xda site is, you need to tap the screen to focus every time before you take a picture or you will get camera lock ups and can not connect to camera. if you have gotten that message, just reboot your phone and remember to tap the screen before every picture taken.
The back camera works fine. I have to do the whole tapping the screen to focus before taking the picture thing, but thats not much of a problem. But if I take a picture with the front facing camera, it reboots my phone and obviously does not save the picture. Anyone know a way to solve this?
(I'm running 4.2.2 Illusion ROM for SGS3)
Install omega rom. Indie has modded them and photo sphere is working without any problems. You dont even neet to tap to focus before each photo. When you install omega be sure to select the 4.3 camera option in aroma installer
