According to Rockstar Newswire, GTA San Andreas is coming this December to mobile handsets. Includes game controller support. Im assuming that it is very sure the Nvidia Shield will be compatible with this!

It's gonna be awesome.

WOW thats really great! GTA SA ftw!

It says it's out, but not compatible with the Shield

i`m downloading it right now through Google Play so i assume it seems to be compatible but some reviews complain about DRM-Problems (game doesn´t start because of no purchase confirmation?!). Hope this will be patched immediatly.
Update: Can confirm its not working because of DRM Issues. Rockstar Games, why?

There are 2 versions of the game aviable at the moment.
The first not working because of DRM and the other one
force close when you start the app on a lot of devices.
I`m trying to install the second one right now.

I think those two versions are for different regions because the game had to be edited for certain countries to get a lower age rating. I´ve downloaded the english version because the other one has a german description ( german version is slightly censored).

Yes youre right. One version is for Germany. But I can`t play both of them.
The International App - DRM Error.
The German App - Force Close behind Social Club Screen.
I hope Rockstar fix this bugs faster than Gameloft fixes Gangstar Vegas -.-
Edit: The third Update of San Andreas is out now. It's great on our Nvidia Shield! Play it now!

Yeah its now playable. But i noticed that in rare cases the game crashes back to homescreen. Also it has some graphical glitches that occur for 1-2 seconds. And there are framedrops. Should be patched out.
Do you think that Tegra Chipsets aren´t really optimised for games?

After the update. For me the only problem is I cant' manual aim.
Do you guys know how to free aim with a gun?

At the moment it is not possible to trigger manual aim via a button. But you can aim manually if you shoot and there is no target in sight and a aim cross appears. But thats dumb because 1) you can´t aim without shooting ( a lot of ammo is needed) and 2) when a target appears CJ will shoot automatically at this target. Really dumb.
Or the game tends to crash when you are doing a rampage and you are on a roof of a building or climb onto something or access buildings when wanted. Be sure to save often at home or press R3 twice when in a taxi cab/ police car / fire truck or some else special car (simple quick save).

wow
would you believe you can crank this up to max settings and get 30fps+ all the time!!!

How do you play gta on your Android

Theres a huge problem with my Play, i'm at my wits end...

I've tried everything to get emulators for retro games such as sonic for the sega to run smoothly and with perfect sound. But it wont work. This isnt just for sonic its for any game in snes, gba or sega. I even overclocked the Play to 1.4 GHZ amnd the effects are exactly the same i bet i could overclo9ck to 5ghz and it would still stutter.
Does anyone have a clue about what the heck is going on with this Play? Videos show these games running full speed 200% on youtube. No other users have reported anything similar to my issues either.
Why is it important? I bought the play as an emulation machine not as a phone.
EDIT: Not to mention i now have an unknown baseband in the process... lol
Try to Re-flash using Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS)...
You can no longer find this software from Sony website but is accesible through third-party download centres such as Megaupload and Rapidshare.

Agreed, it sounds like a bad flash or something TBH.
Just used the flashtool and im back on 3.0 and baseband working again, but still emulator issue as before. Im in the process of doing an OTA to still keep the root which i did, rather than what i did before using the pc tool it removed root.
Is there any pointers for where i can get this SEUS like what version? How it works what files needed etc?
Thanks
Rather than hi jack the MIUI thread
I get the same crackling sound on mine, although I don't have any visual lag whatsoever. Prolly just the youtube quality, but I dont see it in your vid either.
As for the sound, that's the emulators fault. The -oid series have done that for me on both my phones, with varying degrees depending on which emu. However I just tried an alternate genesis app (genplusdroid), and it's a whole different ball game. I think it's running a tad slow, but zero crackling in the sound, unlike gensoid.
I'd try some different emulators
A genplusdroid i'll have to check it out. Somone recomended that supergnes is good fro snes and it is its better than snesoid.
supergnes - runs well on the play
genplusdroid - seems to run well on the play with no stuttering
n64oid - runs without stuttering at accaptable levels
Hmhm i wonder how these things will run on MIUI on the play.
Since MIUI is based on CM7, it will run the same as that, which should be just fine.

Gangstar Vegas now compatible!

Update:
Game is fully compatible with newest update. Go buy and download it if you´re interested in GTA-esque games!

Old Post:
Hello Nvidia Shield Users,
sometime this week Gameloft released an update for Gangstar Vegas and now you can download it to your Shield.
The FPS performance is not bad but could be better and there are some issues with the controls like for example driving is bugged
(When Accelerating the radio stations changes or you shoot when a weapon is equipped and driving backwards opens the map????)
Hope Gameloft fixes this because its really annoying.

I noticed that, too. Running is shooting. Backward with car open the map. Thats really annoying and frustrating!
Did you told that problem to gameloft, too?
We need a fix ... fast.
Yes, I emailed them about this problem and they said they will fix it. Maybe next update?
Its been months and still not fixed.
I only paid a dollar so no biggy, but I don't think its gonna get fixed.
*** It`s finally DONE !!! *** Gangstar Vegas is fixed and now fully compatible with the Nvidia Shield. AND you can move all the data (2.4GB) to your ext. sd-card, too !!! (Don´t forget to clear all Nvidia Mapper pages for this game!) Have fun!
Yeah, i wanted to say the same thing but you were faster! :fingers-crossed:
Oh the game eat my system.but full of fun

San Andreas - Review

I guess I will be the first person to talk about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on Huawei Ascend P6.
My phone is U06, B111 international with its own kernel.
I downloaded 1.03 data but had to use 1.02 APK to prevent black screen/freezes.
Now here's the review:
The game actually works, but in a sense that a Huawei Ascend P6 can run it and there were no lags or whatsoever. The FPS was around 20 or so. What I didn't like was that there were not any player models. I couldn't see CJ or Big Smoke or the Ballas, just the buildings, cars, roads, weather, everything else. The cutscenes were also laggy as hell, like 1 frame per 15 seconds. Thank God for the skip button! What made me uninstall the game, was spontaneous system restarts. Whenever I was playing, the phone restarted itself. Of course, Huawei phones aren't supported for this game, so all problems are justified with this factor.
So to anybody who is looking to play the big game on this device, DON'T. Wait for further updates or just give up on it. Thank you for reading this!
This game runs surprisingly well for me (better than GTA II) but I am also not seeing any player models. I hope they will fix that but probably not because the GPU in our phone isn't very popular. :'(
same problem
same problem on my Ascend Mate...
I tried everything, looked everywhere.. Can't make to work it.. Please.. Send me in private msg where and how... Thnx
Its affected by data that you downloaded.I never had problems with player models, cars, but yea i had to tweak out the settings for best performance thats only "problem" that i had so far.

RetroArch and Firetv controller stick support

I’ve installed the google play version and it works ok but I cannot seem to use the control stick in the games. There is also a development version of the application on the dev’s site but with that version I cannot seem to even use the controller. I can however see a lot more cores added. Has anyone gotten any success by using the controllers. I like retroarch mainly because all the cores and games are in a single neat place. The only issue I’m having now is the usage of the control stick.
Hopefully they'll have the Retroarch update out soon.
It better have fixed the control issues.

I made a combined version and the controller stick works with mame 2014 only.
I took the assets folder from the latest version and put it in the google play verison. you have to sign the apk. i used one click signer. prior to the sign. I had zipped up so its a readable archive. So far it works perfectly fine. The sound on sega 16 bit games is also fixed with the additional emulators but the stick does not work. I guess the sitck support is based on the emulators maybe.
also if anyone would need to know, the bose lifestyle has a game mode that reduces delay incase anyone faces that.

I believe the controller issues have been fixed as of a couple days ago.
I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this but has anyone got decent Wii emulation out of this device?

That is the builder that builds new versions every time a change is pushed to master.
Just click the new one on the top of the list (#1039 at the time of writing) and there will be an APK link to the latest built version at that point.
thanks, im not having much luck with same settings as in the video most games i tried wont even start
true crime streets of la - splash screen then crash
baldurs gate - splash screen then crash
freedom fighters - wont start

Same here, tried a ton of games at all kinds of different settings & they either won't start, crash immediately or 'run' at single digit fps?
They're up to build #1396 over at https://buildbot.dolphin-emu.org/builders/release-android
Is this version any improved? Can someone post results and recommended settings?

I've used those versions. I grab latest every day to see the improvements as they come. Recomendations, well... Toy with the settings. 1 at a time. That's what I did. Super Smarh Bros played at 40-60 FPS at all sorts of different settings. Just give them a shot.
I like it

There are vast improvements with the latest versions. Only had a quick go last night with Wind Waker, its almost running at full speed now. Here's a nice little video on a channel I follow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iQ6myHHMnU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCJKOKAc0Rs
The fist half on the second link shows how to set it up.
Personally I set the internal resolution to 2x, enable fastmen, Enable Skip EFB access from CPU, and set EFB copy to RAM (cashed). Oh and force 16:9 aspect ratio. I leave everything else as default. That seems to work for most things and gives a good speedup. You'll get a much more details explanation of settings over on the dolphin on android forums obviously, but that should get you off to a decent start.
There has been huge improvement recently. I played through Fire Emblem Path of Radiance in its entirety on the SATV (overclock 0.5) and currently playing through FE: Radiant Dawn (overclock 0.2). For Wii games Super Mario Bros Wii and Muramasa the Demon Blade running full speed for me (and Radiant Dawn with overclock, as above). Game cube games running well include Timesplitters 2, Luigi's Mansion (although there has been aa graphical regression recently and his head is missing) and on 1x IR Mario Kart Double Dash is virtually perfect too (frame rate consistently above 55), as mentioned above Zelda WW approaching full-speed too. Performance in most games is CPU bound, so increasing to 2x IR or so doesn't hit performance in most games, so I was interested to see that Mario Kart did improve with lowering IR (someone reported that in comments in Free Emulators YouTube channel and I checked and it's the same for me also).

Arrr thats interesting, I wondered how people were running Double dash at full speed while I was stick at about 30fps. Over the weekend I played Wind Waker on the sheild, however there is a bug in the Tower of the Gods section where the lifts don't activate http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/1540/t1671502-tower-of-gods-glitch-dolphin I thought it was just me and it wasn't until I gave up and looked at a walk through that I realized it wasn't me I had to transfer back to the PC and play past that section before picking back up on the Sheild. There's something very satisfying about playing on the Sheild TV. I've had dolphin on my PC forever but hardly ever fire it up, probably because of the backlog of steam games lol. Whereas with the sheild in the bedroom its the first thing I head for. Probably because I believe the gamecude games are far better gameplay wise than native android games. I tell you what though I find those Zelda games pretty challenging puzzle wise, I can fly through most modern games but they really do have me scratching my head and I do occasionally have to reach for a walkthrough as much as I hate going so.

Yes is there a list of Sheild TV specific overclock settings somewhere? I saw a thread on the dolphin forums but it said the settings may vary by device. I haven't played around with OC settings myslef yet. Off topic it would be nice to get a custom Kernel for the TV so we could bump up the CPU clock a little

I've yet to play around with any OC settings mate that was #NZtechfreak. I just enable fastmen, Enable Skip EFB access from CPU, and set EFB copy to RAM (cashed).
I'll have a play around with the OC settings later tonight, but I believe setting to 1*IR should give you almost full speed without OC settings.
