[Q] poor screenshot quality - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Guys have anyone of you noticed that quality of screen shots is quiet poor ...its like quiet blurry..can anyone help me out with it...I never felt it on my galaxy note 3 or note 2 or note 8.0..it ruins the whole experience of taking screen shots of important articles and making notes over it...

This seems to be a limitation of the SPen enabled Screen capture only. When using other apps like Screenshot UX, the screen captures (especially the text) look great and are nice and crisp. Samsung needs to fix this issue.

I just tested my tablet by holding the power button and home key to take a screen shot and it looks good, don't know what issue's your having but tablet is sharp.

Take a look of this screenshot...no matter which way u screen shot it...whether by s pen or by holding home and power button text is not very clear

I second this. Same for pen or home+power.
Cheers,
Bjoern

My screenshots from air command are blurry while the ones taken by Home + Power are crisp and half the size than the former.
iiSo say we all!! from my SM- P600

My screenshots via S-pen or Holding the Power+Home are crisp too.

I have the same "issue". Both via S-Pen and Home + Power...
Very strange.

Affy how could yours be different ?

To me it honestly looked no different from my S3. I will have a look properly and will post some pics if I get a chance tonight after work but honestly the times I have taken screenshots the quality seemed pretty good to me whether I was pre-ocupied of just being excited about the S-pen but I'm sure I would have noticed if it was terrible quality like the pic you posted.

Earlier was somehow compressed...take a look at this one...its not very blurry but you cannot call it a crisp one...quiet low quality when compared to note devices..

Yeah the S-pen screenshot isn't very good however the Home+power button screenshot looks pretty spot on to me.

Exactly, when taking screenshots with the Spen It will compress it to be used in the image editor.
When using the regular screenshot either swipe or Home+Power its an uncompressed png.

For others those who face same problem go to settings and unmark edit after screenshot in s pen settings..it will solve the issue..yes image edtor was the culprit.

Having some problem with s-pen and screen capture tracing...

Hi,
Have noticed when trying to trace an image with my s-pen on the screen with the button pushed that sometimes it just doesn't seem to "take" and capture the image even though I have traced all the way around to the little beginning circle. This seems to happen mostly if I am tracing a smaller image.
Am I doing something wrong or is this just a bug? If it is a bug is there a way to fix it?
SECONDARY QUESTION:
It seems the only way to crop out a square image is to do a screen capture by pushing down the s-pen button and pressing it to the screen then using the crop tool. However, it would be nice to be able to actually draw a perfect crop square in the same way we do a trace capture. Is there any combination of buttons that does that?
I have noticed on my Note 10.1 tablet that I can trace an image in one multiview screen then just drag the into s-notes in the other pane and it pastes. However, with the GN2 this "drag and drop" doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?
Last thing. Have noticed that on my Note 10.1 I can do a screen capture of the active multiview pane; however, with the GN2 it seems to capture both multiview panes then squishes the entire capture into one pane. Again, am I doing this wrong or is that a bug?
Thanks!
for perfect squares, well and now everything I have been lasso'ing a larger area and then using the photo editor app to crop them down ...for the reason that I noticed the longer I take to get a clean lasso the less chance I have of it working.
Interesting find on the screenshot deal. If I take a screen shot by hand swipe it is normal. Taking it with the pen results in squished screen.
As for the drag and drop I swear it worked out of the box...then the ljc update changed it but I could be wrong. I just know it does not work that way anymore. Similarly I recal draggingbthe lasso'd image to say messaging in the icons at bottom of screen ...now after the update I just hit messaging

I guess the point is that there are a number of things which work as they should on the Note 10.1 that don't seem to work that way on the GN2. It's not a screen real estate issue so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Just seems kind of buggy to me, especially the tracing part.
My Note 10.1 came with a specially designed version of photoshop but I'm not seeing that on my GN2. Am I missing it? I guess I just expected these to be close to the same except smaller. Maybe not.
For instance on the Note 10.1 in multiview each pane gets its own Min, Max and Close buttons but not here. Odd.

I know about those who but they aren't the same. On the Note 10.1 each frame has its own buttons which remain persistent. Like in Windows. Much better.

I find it works best to hold the button, draw your shape/circle then lift the pen with the button still held... works every time.

Put the edge of your hand on one side and swipe the hand across the screen like it was a handheld scanner. The image will be captured and saved in the Gallery under Screenshots.
For the palm swipe capture make sure it's activated in the motion settings

You can also use the S Pen as well if you want.
Its about 3rd down in the list below.

This also gives you the option of annotating the screen grab before you save it :good:

Camera App on Slim Bean

Was looking through the settings in the camera app that comes with the slim bean rom. What do the following options do:
Smart Capture
True View
Power Shutter
Not really sure what those settings enable/disable.
Any help with the explanation of those would be great
Thanks.

Power shutter is really exactly what it says. Select it, reboot and your power button is now a button to take pictures.
Smart capture is also neat. Here's a video of it working.

I don't know about True view, my guess is it's for the front camera, it'll show you what the picture will look like, not a mirror and than flip it in processing. Just an educated guess though.

I know it is an old thread. But, in case still you haven't read about it:
TrueView faq from slimrom.net
True view is a camera feature to show the whole field of view of the camera.
By default the field of view is stretched and cut on the sides to fit fullscreen.

[Q] How to take screen shots without using hard buttons

Hi,
I am playing a game which I need to take large amounts of screen shots.
I don't want to break the power and volume buttons. Is there a way to take screen shots with some gesture or soft button on Nexus 7 2013?
Thanks.

You are not going to break the buttons. I have devices 4 yes old I still use (fascinate & charge) and I don't see posts about broken buttons in those forums.

You can assign a gesture in Nova to open the ScreenshotIt app, then either take the screenshot, or, activate the overlay screenshot button, go to the desired screen, and snap.

It has been combined with Shots and More Moving Subject MUST be in frame FIRST before you TAP ONCE. Do not HOLD or it will take burst shots and only offer "BEST SHOT" feature. When subject enters the frame, tap on the camera icon. Like you do when taking normal picture. Don't hold it.
