[ROM][MK5][STOCK][ODEXED/DEODEXED]- Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Alright folks, we're up and running. Just as the title says, this is the MK5 Boost/Virgin Mobile 4.3 update in flashable zip. Stock, zipaligned, basic. More to come in the future, but this should be enough to keep you busy for awhile. Enjoy!
PLEASE READ I've made a few changes to the wording of the OP, based on my own personal observations from running this build. This ROM is unrooted, even though it has the su and busybox "guts" in the build. Future builds will have all this cleaned up. In the meantime, when flashing, you must flash the SuperSU Update listed in the flashing instructions to regain root. Simple, I know Just thought I'd let you know! Enjoy.
Thanks:
Google, Samsung, XDA – For obvious reasons
Dsixda – For the Kitchen
@CNexus – Because frankly this couldn’t have been done without your help.
@Chainfire – SuperSU and everything else you do and continue to do. You’re a magician.
@Mr. Struck - for testing deodexed for me.
@TheBritton - For his help getting this shared around the other forums.

Flashing Instructions:
Note: Chances are you will have problems with root upon reboot. So to save yourself the headache, I would suggest downloading and flashing the SuperSU update from the get go.
If you don’t, and it works on its own, please let me know. But if you just flash it when you flash everything else you should be golden!
1. Update your recovery to latest TWRP, CWM, Philz, whatever you are using. I used Philz, found here:Link
2. Download ROM to phone
3. Download wifi fix from here(Thanks @CNexus): Link
4. Download SuperSU Update(See note!!): Link
5. Download Knox APP remover: Link This is Knox APP Remover, and WILL NOT REMOVE KNOX FROM THE BOOTLOADER! IT WAS NEVER INSTALLED!
6. Reboot to recovery, wipe cache/dalvik
7. Flash rom, wifi fix, SuperSU update, then knox APPS remover.
8. If you haven’t done so already, and you're having problems with data, I highly suggest flashing the MK5 modem(Thanks @CNexus): Link
9. Reboot, profit

Issues:This is an early run, so I’m sure there might be hiccups. You tell me!
ATTENTION!!!. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 4.3 FIRMWARE. AKA THE KNOX BOOTLOADER! SO HAVE NO FEAR OF FLASHING THIS BECAUSE OF KNOX!!!

So awesome !!! Thank You for putting this together - Is this deodexed also ?

Nice work!!
Is it possible to enable wireless tethering? Since updating to MK5 all wireless tether apps I've tried have failed. I'm not sure where to look to get them going again.

Thanks!
I've seen that mod but didn't know if it was safe to flash on the virgin mobile build. Does that mod enable native tethering? I believe it's something in the MK5 kernel blocking tethering. I've tried all root apps like wireless tether, barnacle, etc all versions, betas, experimental to no avail.

Lol, no. Unfortunately it's not that simple. If you flash this, you'll have a Sprint phone with a VM/Boost rom. There are tutorials on here on how to flash from one carrier to another however.

Use philz cwm as your recovery and flash the super su update zip in the op. I couldn't get root back with reg.cwm.

Haven't run into any problems yet. This is great. I did notice that for the notification panel, there isn't a Mobile Data toggle. Is it not included in 4.3? Is there some way to edit that?

I've done a clean flash of this rom 3x and everything works nicely. Every flash I've flashed the hotspot mod you referred to as the final step. Up til the final step of flashing hotspot everything works and then after I get stuck on Samsung boot screen all 3 times.I think it's safe to say that the hotspot mod does not work for this rom.

Yeah, you are probably right. I know there are others trying to work this out too and haven't been able to. Most likely something inside the "guts" of the build. I'll consult some of the guys I know are who are a lot smarter than me and see if we can come up with something.
Also, for everyone, check the OP. I posted the deodexed version last night! Enjoy

I just noticed this too. Don't think it has anything to do with 4.3. Before I ran this ROM I was running CNEXUS Sprint version and the mobile data toggle is included in that one.

[CWM][Root]SuperSU 1.25

I didn't see this posted so I thought I would upload it for those that like to root the old fashioned way
First off thanks to Chainfire for this great app.
SuperSU is quickly becoming the root option of choice. I have been using it for a few weeks and haven't had any problems with it plus I enjoy the extra features and neat interface.
This zip will remove SuperUser and install SuperSU. Of course if you are already rooted you can just download it from the market. This is to be used if you are in the situation where you need to root from recovery.
If you have SuperUser installed on the data partition you will want to remove it from the application menu. For some reason when I had it delete from data it would leave a phantom icon even after clearing cache and dalvik. Not sure why but it is best to just uninstall it.
If you have SuperUser in system/app but it isn't named Superuser.apk, SuperUser.apk or com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk you will want to manually remove it.
For more information on SuperSU visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en

You can always flash agat's kernel recovery via odin or mobile odin. then you'll have custom recovery to flash zips.

Superuser has a long history so I think most people include it out of habit or are just reluctant to use something new. I think that more people will start including it. All of my current stock rooted Roms have it and will have it going forward.

Just upgraded from ff18 to fh13, wifi tether app was not remembered by superuser, every time I turned it on or off I would have to manually approve it. Switched to the new SuperSU and problem fixed! Also like the new icon...
Those who would trade Liberty for Security, will end up with neither.
Updated to 0.97.
What's in this version:
- Fixed issue with modified AOSP su binary
- Fixed wrong translation crashing app on toast
- Fixed possible exploit (preventive)
- Modified system and shell user - no longer granted root by default
- Added "ADB shell" display
- Added warning to selecting full content logging
- Added method for apps to disable (by default only) full content logging if known to be problematic
- Updated languages

(Guide) Knox files to delete and locations

I extracted the update zip posted and just extracted it and searched for knox and came up with 10 files associated to knox. Use some root explorer then....
In system/app you need to pwn....
(1&2) KNOXAgent.apk & KNOXAgent.odex
(3&4) KnoxAttestationAgent.apk & KnoxAttestation.odex
(5&6) KNOXStore.apk&KNOXStore.odex
Found in System/framework
(7) KNOXModeSwitcher.apk
(8) sec_container_1.zzzKnoxLauncher.apk
Found in System/etc
(9) com.sec.knox.store
Found in system/lib
(10) libknoxdrawglfunction.so
Edit* lorjay589 has posted two sets of updates both are KNOX-FREE. One rooted one stock....they both use the MC2 bootloader opposed to the MK4 bootloader. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541395 and be sure to hit the thanks button for his work.
We now have a full flashable 4.3 rom odex thaks to lorjay589, with deodex cooking in kitchen now (same thread above)...stay tuned

Big ups to louforgiveno, billard412, lorjay589, & dr.ketan - if it wasn't for you guys my phone would be stuck on the knox bootloader & even worse, still bricked! Now I'm knox free with MC2 bootloader, rooted on MK4, & rockin AOSP. Without you this would not be possible. I want to thank all of your efforts.
On my Note II the
(7) KNOXModeSwitcher.apk
(8) sec_container_1.zzzKnoxLauncher.apk
wouldn't show up using the search feature in the System/framework folder. I ended up finding them by doing an overall search in the System folder.
The full location is /system/containers/framework/... Using Root Explorer.
Just thought I'd point this out. Thanks for all the work you and lorjay89 have done with this dreaded Knox deal
Looking for some help
I am currently running Sprint's OTA 4.3 (MK4) on my Note 2. I have rooted using Odin 3.07 and CF-Auto-Root-t0ltespr-t0ltespr-sphl900.
After every reboot SuperSU is stopped (I assume by knox) until I reinstall it. Then SuperSU works (or at least pretends to).
My WIFI Trev-E Mod starts with errors, so I was looking to flash to LorJay's ROM. Which brings me to deleting/disabling the KNOX off of my phone.
I have root directory access, but when I delete the files you specify, they do not disappear, even though the explorer states they have been deleted and then only the files /system/apps location show at all. The rest aren't there.
I tried rebooting and KNOX is still there and I have to reinstall SuperSU again.
I have also rooted using Android Root in which it says root is successful as well. But with the same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are going to install anther rom dont worry about knox. Put phone in download mode and use odin to flash recovery (I suggest philz 6.07.9) but uncheck the reboot option. Once it flashes everything disconnect from pc pull battery. Now the tricky part. Hold down volume up key, menu key, and power key. Now reinsert battery at same time. Ii find it easiest to turn phone upside down to perform this task. Once it boots into recovery just flash your desired rom.

And from stock MK4 the easiest method to root and such for me is just use Google Kingo Root App on PC to root. It will restart phone and then you can install from the market GooManager if you want TWRP (touch) recovery, or RomManager for CWM. I installed all recoveries successfully (haven't tried any philz yet) and can flash whatever rom from there. Less battery pulling and no ODIN necessary.
Then usually I install Titanium Backup and remove Knox and freeze or remove other bloat. Leaves me an almost clean stock experience.
Just in case anyone needs an alternate method.

Anyone flash TWRP and a ROM after OTA

I did a search and couldn't find an answer. I got the OTA (Thanks to my wife, while I still sleeping) I did get it rooted and knox disabled. Don't care about the knox flag because my warranty is already gone. So now my question is do any of the 4.3-4.4 ROMS work (Skynote, Ditto etc)? Can I flash TWRP with goo manager?
Thanks in advance!

I just got done flashing SKY NOTE 4.3 Edition MJ4-4.3 (AT&T Leak).
I can confirm twrp installs from goomanager as thats how I installed it and successfully flashed an aroma addon (just a mod NOT a rom) with no issues

I decided to be the sacrificial lamb and I can confirm that yes definitively you can go from stock 4.3 OTA to a custom 4.3 ROM. I updated to 4.3 OTA (dumb) and just now successfully flashed Ditto 3.1.1.
1. Root 4.3 OTA
2. Flash TWRP
3. Flash custom rom.
4. Run SuperSU
Some additional notes:
Did a dirty flash the first go around. The device didn't boot. Used the pull battery method to get into recovery (probably not necessary but oh well). Reflashed the rom this time using full wipe in AROMA (not in TWRP) and the device booted like a charm (even got an OTA Ditto 3.2 update bonus!).
Additionally AROMA didn't delete my data so I got to keep all my data from 4.3 OTA.
Last note my baseband is still MK6. I guess that's good because Ditto is still on MK5.
Lots of people have done this. What's so scary?

If you knew this information already, it would have been helpful of you to share this information with the group instead of chiming in after the fact.
Just read this but a quick read anywhere around here would've been an answer

Thanks everyone!!
Why it was scary is when I posted there was a lot going on. I hadn't seen where someone had taken the update, then flashed a ROM. I had seen a lot about the leak but not MK6. There were quite a few folks having trouble restoring backups, soft bricking etc. and it was due to the locked down boot loader being hostile to changes. I just didn't want a soft brick and have to use my Infuse till I could get it back up.
As far as what I have read so far, no one has been able to get back to MK6 after downgrading or roming and the backups of the stock MK6 aren't working. The reason I asked is because not much was being said about how ROMs were acting with the locked bootloader. No one was talking about steps to take if you have the MK6 update to ROM.
I have since flashed and I am running Sky Note Air Vaniila now and all is well. Just wanted to see what troubles if any others were having to help keep ducks in a row That way when folks want to ROM they know which ones work with the new Bootloader.

Which themes are you using? Which recovery are you using as well? Never heard of that with Aroma, although most roms I have used were none Aroma based..

Not sure what the problem might be. I would simply find a rom you like minus aroma and use it instead... Or you can flash back to 100% stock and try it again..

Sorry I could not help.. One question, your MK4 does that include the bootloader? I know the rom I have tried, left out the bootloader and left in the MC2 bootloader..

The mk4 does contain the knox bootloader so the only known way to go back to mc2 is by using billards back to stock mc2 with counter reset.
Now about the possible aroma issue. I have used a few aroma scripts and even did my own custom aroma for a rom and while they had issues none did what you are talking about. The issues i have experienced were lockups when switching from aroma menu to installer and back to aroma menu. I have found one version that gave me 0 issues. If you will try this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47719471. Download version 4 (4.2 contains some stock mc2 rom making it large!!!) and do something simple like changing your recovery. See if this script causes the same issues as your other ones. Hopefully not and you will now have an aroma version you can build off.

[ROM][STOCK][PORT][*ODIN*] Stock rooted TW 4.4.2 (ported from sprint SGS3)

This, for the most part, is not my work. What this is is @DocHoliday77 's port of the sprint SGS3 4.4.2 ROM, which I have repackaged into an Odin .tar.md5; the point being for those who would rather flash this via ODIN instead of twrp/cwm.
You can thank DocHoliday77 for his hard work here, all I did was edit the build.prop and repackage with multiboot. Download link below.
Included in this .tar.md5:
-System image, with build.prop edited to accurately reflect our device.
-multiboot 2.12 recovery image (for those who don't know, it's TWRP 2.7 with the added ability to boot other ROMs in a sandbox)
-KT747 boot image, which is included with the original port flashable zip.
YOU MUST HAVE AN OFFICIAL 4.3 BOOTLOADER / MODEM INSTALLED. THERE IS NO WAY TO CIRCUMVENT THIS.
Download: Stock rooted 4.4.2 TW

You're all quite welcome. I may reupload sometime soon with boot loader / modem included to make it easier for people. (There would be two different versions, one with the at&t modem and one with the bell/telus/rogers one)
Can anyone confirm whether or not this is a daily driver?

Aside from not being able to send MMS with WiFi on (SMS works fine) this should be fully capable of being a DD.
Use Handcent messaging app, set it as default and mms while Wi-Fi is active will work

Not sure as I cant read your language, sorry. But one part says its LI1 and another says ND3. First, the bootloader/firmware version MUST be a 4.3 build.
Second, what is the ND3? Is that some sort of test build? Or did I miss something somewhere?

It does yeah, but I tried it without the md5sum and it failed as well, just after nand write start. On the download here the md5 check fails because the binary is supposedly invalid.
The system image was made by running mkfs-yaffs2-x86 on the system folder from the original port zip, running unyaffs does unpack it, but something is definitely not right with this image, I tried using unpack-ext4 on windows which usually works on odin system images but it didn't on this one.
Making an odin flashable isnt a straight forward process for the S3 it seems. MrRobinson is the only one I know of off hand that has an effective process to do so. He only gives clues to his process in his op. Ive done one a long time ago, but I think what I had to do was take tar the system.img dumped directly from the device using the dd command.
If I remember right, it had to be done immediately after flashing, been too long though so I cant remember for certain.
So if I am recalling it correctly, flash the rom, factory reset, then while still in recovery, using either adb or the built in terminal emulator, use dd to dump the image to your sd card.

It's a Stock 4.3 bulid from Telcel, Mexico, in SamMobile says this:
In english:
Ok, thanks for the clarification on that. Once its confirmed working, you should be able to flash it just fine. If that baseband is not 4.3 though, you will likely have to update it as well.
For now though, you can always just flash the rom this was built from. Should get you exactly the same thing, only the method is different.
