Is 4.3 a fota? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

My grandma has a sprint Note 2 (I have an S3) and is the 4.3 a FOTA? I won't be able to get to her until like Dec 20th and root her phone.and install CM or modded stock. I told her to click no whenever possible for the update. And she said she will. But if it forces I can't help that. I'm trying to avoid KNOX.

The Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update did not include KNOX.

Yes it is knox is on that update I had to use root to remove it . But lorjay589 has a rom with 4.3 without knox bootloader or any of the knox files that's what I'm running now. Try reading the threats for more info to help you out more.

So Knox can be removed on these phones?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Yup it can read around the forum it can be completely non existent on 4.3 using lorjay 598 rom or removing it your self. His rom even remove the knox bootloader which prevent you from downgrading . Read the thread he has

Well she is 100% stock not rooted. Fota stands for forced ota so can she just keep tapping no until I can get to her and root it and flash a 4.3 ROM?

You're Right!

I had read that Samsung did not push KNOX out on the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 (4.3) update because of file size, but I found the files on my Note 2 using Elixir. I don't have the app icon, but the files are certainly loaded on my phone. Thanks for the heads up!

No problem. Some devices have the icon in the app drawer like my s4 but this does not sneaky samsung.

Can anyone confirm root after t-mobile update??

Hesitant to flash back to stock to update, anyone know if they can use that galaxy s3 root toolkit after the new update
Just flash the already rooted rom. Just did a few phones with no problem.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
It's safe to flash and root like normal. I just received my phone and it had a sticker on it that said updated. I didn't incur any problems.

List of bloatwares

I rooted my phone and I wanted to remove unwanted apps, any one can give me a list that I can refer to while removing apps?
I'm not sure about sammy as I this is my first samsung phone, but in my previous and first Android device the Motorola RAZR if u remove bloatware you will not be able to update ota.
We freeze bloatware instead.

Well once he's rooted there are no more OTA as his device is now branded 'Modified' anyway

Yeah, I decided to unroot to see if I can pick up the OTA. My wife got the OTA 2 days ago on her GS4 so I was kind of hoping that this might drop soon.
Here's the rdf page. Still no 4.4 shown....

Keep Calm and waiting for KitKat
If they are still talking 4.2.2 on February 8, 2014, we have a long wait until 4.4 . They usually have some test builds before they release a rom, and from what I can tell, they haven't even started on 4.4 for this device. NB8 is the latest as referenced in the above post.
N for 2014
B for Feb (2nd month)
8 for 8th day
I would say at the bare minimum, 3 months before 4.4 on this device.

Anybody know where to get this update? Device is rooted so it won't do OTA.
Yeah thinking the same thing. Not sure the best way to get it.

So far the wifi does see more stable and I have not gotten any wifi errors. Also this might be a placebo effect but it does seem more stable and snappy.

anyone tried to re-root after update?
did kernel and baseband change too?
dose 4.4 release for htc one ?
I'm bone stock, not rooted. Took the update last night, and haven't noticed anything worth noting so far. I only seemed to have wifi problems when my router would get rebooted, then all would clear up after a few hours/overnight.
I wonder if there were some changes in there that were necessary for the 4.4 update?

If you do try be careful. The update includes Knox so if you root the wrong way it'll trip the Knox flag, which is currently a permanent thing at the moment.

It could mean the update has been approved and waiting for ota. Or samsung is fixing the sd card issue before pushing it out. But not many places have it only a few countries and 2 U.S. carriers...

Samsung's source page for our phone doesn't show the KK software yet. It will appear there before any OTA update.

Still no KK software. How long will it be? I assume Tmo is waiting for all the Note 3 updates to settle down first?
Yeah, that's my assumption too. I believe it will be this month anyway, but I'm going to hold off downloading initially; I reckon that as with the update from 4.2 to 4.3 re Knox, anyone on Knoxless 4.3 roms is going to have issues gong to 4.4

Just flash a custom ROM. They have knox removed. Or are you trying to get official without root? You may be able to create a custom tar file without the boot loader. I've never tried it so I wouldn't know first hand but that's what I'd start with.

So with firmware and kernel released why is there no roms. Wether it be a rooted stock, debated stock or custom KK roms.

There is a CM11 Rom, look in the development sections of this forum. It's still early days and developers need to get them first. These are not Nexus devices so you loose your warranty if you root. So far the Knox counter cannot be reset.

I found a Samsung bloat and Knox remover on the GS3 forum. Do you think it will work on our tabs ? It's supposed to remove all samsung cap and Knox as well. We all know when you root you void warranty LOL.

As for the GS3 software I'd be cautious. One example of where rooting does not void warranties is Nexus devices so it is not so obvious. I've seen a copy of a Google customer response email to that effect on the XDA Nexus 5 forum.
