Wow no one here have courage? To try this? Lol
C'mon guys pop that SIM card in there and share the experience!!!!!!!!!!

I would like no know this too as I just got the 4G LTE and text messaging works flawlessly, except phone calls as it gives me busy signal on all calls that are made. Don't know what's wrong. The sim card is activated and everything works as it should. Except phone calls..

There's really not a lot to talk about. The SM-P601/5 are just giant phones. Anything a N3 can do, they can do. Dialers and MMS/SMS are pretty much the same on every phone and the SM-P601/5 are no exception.
Here's a screen shot...
P.S. - In order to use the voice and messaging features the SM-P601/5 have to be provisioned by your carrier as "phones." Tablet-specific data plans don't support calls or MMS even though the device is capable.

I was waiting for a response and didn't get anyone to chime in so I finally got my note 10.1 p605 so here goes yes you need to get a sim with voice and data plan it will work. I'm currently using it as my phone at the moment and it rocks!

I have the SM-P605 4G LTE and I couldn't figure out how to make phone calls on this device. Can you help?

Is your SM-P605 from a carrier or Samsung? The U.S. carriers and possibly some others disable voice and MMS and always have in the tablets they offer. If you don't see the Dialer and Messaging apps when you look in the app drawer I'm guessing they've been disabled in whatever version of SM-P605 you have. If you see them and can't use them that means the SIM you're using probably doesn't support voice and MMS. They're either there out-of-the-box or they aren't. If they aren't there's not a lot you can do about it.

BarryH,
I got mine from the Verizon store. I downloaded a Dialer app from Google Play and tried to make a call, but still no go. The app brought up a Dialer, but when I punch in a telephone number, and press Send, it just beeps and does nothing. The Sim card was from my 4G LTE phone. I swapped it over.
I was, however, able to make calls using Google Voice & Groove IP. But man, I would just love to be able to make calls just like a phone.

FreedomPop on Sprint S3

Hey guys, so I'm looking into FreedomPop (http://www.freedompop.com/), which is a somewhat newer thing to my state. I set it up on his phone and not entirely sure about it. They give you 1gb of data, yet you have to download their messaging app. When you activate it activates your data, but calling and text cant be used besides through their app which uses data. Ie, your data is used for everything from what I can tell and cell signal is worthless.
The point of this is I'm wondering if it will work on the Sprint S3 SPH-L710 and if that is how freedompop is meant to work since I cannot find any info at all about it. Would prefer to use the stock messaging app but it just gives you a sprint text saying you cant text as if you're still on sprint and all the info in your phone says sprint, network says sprint, etc..
FreedomPop s3
I just in the last week got a s3 from FreedomPop it is running 4.4.2 and came with there dailer and messaging apps installed and the stock ones have been removed. as far as I can tell they are using sprint the phone even says sprint on the back. also when I set up my google voice number it asked me if I wanted to use that as the main number on the phone witch to my understanding is a sprint only thing? but I can confirm google voice connecting for texting and sipdroid will connect but because they removed the stock dialer I cant call out with sipdroid. I hope this helps you out. I am only just now trying to play with sipdroid so I might have more info later.

Apparently the mobile phone part of them is in beta stages. But from what I've noticed, you don't actually have service. Only data service. Everything uses data. If you were to disable data, nothing would work. As far as I can see on the S2 because everything you do it recorded as data under settings. Like phone calls and texts. Where as a normal network it would be over the cell towers and not the data towers. I know they are the same thing but if you're in an area without data, but have signal still, you'd be screwed in that situation.

Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.

No Data While on Calls

When on 4G or 3G when in voice calls I cant use or get data and get a message that pops up saying I need to use WIFI for data while on calls. Please tell me there is a work around.

Not really sure why this is but I have a suspicion. M8 was supposedly VoLTE compliant, but the settings lacks the "Advanced Calling" section that the M9 ROM has (carriers mess with this all the time; for instance, I was looking at an AT&T M9 yesterday and for the life of me could not find the "power" settings section).
I also have a business account and had to have an agent turn on advanced calling to get the M9 to work this way.
I suspect that Verizon wants to have the option to *charge* for the "feature." That's the only reason I can think they'd break it out separately.
Verizon has no reason to charge for HD calling. While the voice portion is unlimited for most accounts, if you use the video calling it is not. It counts towards the data allowance unless it's used over WiFi. Verizon wind with increased data plans or overage charges.
I personally love the feature, I mostly talk with my LG Tones, and the HD calling is amazingly loud and crystal clear. Good stuff. As has been noted, if you lose LTE/WiFi during an HD call, it will drop. That goes for either side, as both parties have to be capable for it to work at all anyway.

Under the tech bulletin here at work, it states the M9 has a single radio unlike the M8 which has a dual radio which allowed for simultaneously calls and data on 3g or 4g (SVDO).
SU1 releasing in June 2015 will fix this and show 1x during a phone call and not the 4g lte symbol as it currently shows on the M9.
So without advanced calling you cannot do this. This is a bummer as I loved this feature.
Disadvantages of advanced calling is if you lose your 4g while going into a building your call drops. unlike traditional calling is handled on the 1x network.

6.20.502.5 ATT Firmware

Hi All,
Has anyone extracted the the firmware from the RUU? I did a quick search and just saw one with the HBOOT. Also has anyone installed the HTC RUU? Is it any good?
Thanks in advance.
Here

Of course wnc and ckpv5 would be involved!
Guess I should have looked a little harder than searching by the numbers!
Many thanks!

If anyone is looking for an already modified version of the 6.20.502.5 firmware. I removed the boot.img and the recovery.img file and replaced the hboot file with one that has no red text. This firmware works fine on the AT&T and Developer's Edition models.
Download here.
Hey everyone in this post,
Please check to make sure that you are receiving voice calls. I just discovered that I can make outgoing calls just fine however ALL incoming calls are going directly to voicemail. I'm going to do a little more research but it looks as though I'll need to revert to an earlier firmware. I'm guessing this has something to do with HD Voice.
A couple more things of note: I'm on the latest version of ARHD which is 53.1 (MM); texts work fine both ways; data is fine; voicemail functions fine. Just to give a little background.

I'm having the same problem. I fiddled with the APN settings and it seemed (I'll try again) to fix that issue. Meaning I manually entered the APN settings and I was able to receive calls. A bit ridiculous.
Edit: It's not the APN Settings that helped. It's actually switching the preferred network from LTE to 3G or maybe even 2G. Haven't checked it on 2G.

I finally got mine working but I have no idea what the magical combination ended up being. I did downgrade to a previous 6.12 firmware but that alone didn't do the trick. I also manually added a new APN in addition to many other things one by one. I was actually on an outgoing call and my line beeped because I had a call waiting! I was so shocked (and pleased) that I hung on the person I was speaking with and answered the call. From then on it has worked fine. Having said that I'm going to sit tight with the phone the way it is until someone much smarter than me lays out a solid plan.
I'm glad you got beyond your problem as well :good:

Are you still able to receive phone calls while on 4G? Any further issues? I asked because ever since upgrading to LP firmware I no longer can receive incoming phone calls while on 4G but I can make calls. I have noticed that while on a call on 4G I can receive calls which is strange. So I have to stay on 3G to receive all incoming calls. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks

Your situation does sound similar to mine. Whatever combination of zany things that happened for me as forced my network into HSPA+ whereas it used to read LTE. I'm not referring to the icon in the status bar (that still reads 4G). If I go into Settings>About>Network>Cellular network type. That's where I see HSPA+, HSPA or HSPAP depending on where I am. My speeds are WAY slower but it's still functional, yet there's something obviously still broken. Since I can receive calls now I've decided to just "live with it" until I come across a proper solution that I know will work. If that day should ever come though, I'll be sure to post back here.
Update:
I am back to my "Cellular network type" displaying "LTE" and my download speeds also confirm this. Below are the additional steps I took to get to this point:
1. In the phone dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* (takes you to a "Phone info" screen)
2. Scroll down to "Set preferred network type" (take note of its current selection in case you need to go back)
3. Using the dropdown, select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
That's it. After a few seconds my data icon refreshed and I knew I was good to go. For good measure I went back to Settings>About>Network to verify my Cellular network type. Good luck.

AT&T's deployment of Voice over LTE (which they've branded "HD Voice") does not play well with international-based custom ROMs (basically, most any ROM that is not ATT based). Issues with voice calls is the common symptom.
Best workaround is to call AT&T and ask them to turn off HD Voice for your account (may need to ask for 2nd Tier tech support before you get someone who knows what you are talking about). Yes, you can turn off LTE, but that is obviously not a great option.
Other fixes (APN, firmware) are likely placebo effect at best. Went down a similar path trying to troubleshoot this problem for folks a year ago, before coming to the conclusion (Post #9): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/help/incoming-calls-lte-mode-m8-att-arhd-34-0-t3026710

WiFi calling working?

Just wondering if anyone is using WiFi calling. I just switched back my sim to a voice line and wanted to get it working. But not sure if the tablet supports it as I don't see the option.
I disabled a bunch of packages, so just wondering if I accidentally disabled it, or it's just not possible.
Thanks!
I'm using it successfully via Hangouts.

No idea as I don't have the version with the SIM card. Usually your carrier has to tell you how to set up WiFi calling. On Project Fi it is automatically routed from the phone app through the Hangouts dialer . Otherwise you'd have to resort to Skype or WhatsApp or something similar.

I would contact your carrier. WiFi calling is something they have to enable which is why you see the setting on your phone. They would know if they can support WiFi on the Tab S4. Like I said for Project Fi, which is my carrier, their WiFi calling is handled through a separate app (Hangouts Dialer) and not a System Setting regardless of the Android device used (phone, tablet, etc). Maybe your carrier has an app to install that provides WiFi calling from a Tab S4? And report back who your carrier is and what they say so others can find the info.
