QI charger receiver - Moto G Accessories

Did anyone already come across a suitable QI receiver pad for the G?

Moto G doesn't support wireless charging.

The battery isn't removable, so it isn't really possible.

I have a MotoG, and upon taking off the back cover, I can't seem to locate the pins normally used with Qi pads like on the Samsungs. So, I may be completely wrong, but as of right now, I think the G will not support wireless charging.

I suppose those could work http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Q...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item3cd871bdf7 but they are a bit besides the point if microusb then cannot be used...

I've ordered one of those Universal Pads and some other stuff from DealExtreme a week ago. I will report back with pictures when it arrives here. The parcel however is still in China and I don't think it will clear german customs until after christmas.

I'm very interested to hear if this works. I haven't been able to find any reviews for those Qi charging coil inserts, either. Have you heard of it working on the Moto G or other phones?

Motorola would have advertised it as having wireless charging if they put it in. This was one of the features they left out to cut the price

I'm asking about those aftermarket coil inserts that supposedly provide Qi charging by plugging into the micro USB and going between the battery cover or a case.

I think you will find the clearances to be too too tight for that. I think the best bet will be if someone integrates it into a shell or case.

If you know it does not why would you start a thread? It makes no sense. It does not have a removable battery cover so there is no way to add wireless charging without hardware modifications.

Ok, thats new for me. But there is one chance. There could be a case with qi Receiver and usb connector or if it has pins for a docking station then with connection to them.

Have you popped the back cover off to see if the pins are there?
If they are then a modded qi receiver would work great.
I do not own the Note 10.1. Thats the reason why I'm asking dumb questions.
For the Note 8 someone added a Qi Receiver with USB connector and hide it under a case.

He is not talking about taking the back cover off. He is talking about a case that has a plug that goes into the existing charge port of the tablet and there is a wireless charging coil within the case itself.
No, I have not seen any.
Yes, I do want one.
Does the Note 10.1 2014 has Connectors for a Docking Station? If yes, this would be an option to realize it without using an usb connector.

I, too, would love to add wireless charging capabilities to the Note.
I read a story on the iQi Mobile - Seamless Wireless Charging For iPhone and tried to find a similar product for micro usb ports. I came across a possible alternative but don't have any experience with the website/seller of the product.

Do you guys think something like this would work?
One disadvantage would be that you would have to unplug the cable to use a regular charging cable, but I think I could live with that.
in my opinion this seems legit and ok.
Of course it's annoying to remove the cable everytime, but for having wireless charging
l already thought about this on my HTC Eo 3D but did not want to spend too much money on that since it is no Must-have in my opinion.

As Qi supports 15 instead of 5 Watt (since 06/2015), we only need to wait for the next tablet generation. I think in the future we will see Qi on much more tablets.

No, because the quality is poor and it is qi 1.0. I think at the moment there are no qi receiver supporting qi 1.1?! And of course it would be much nicer to have a receiver built-in or under the battery cover.
Am I the only one that doesn't like qi charging? I have it and a pad for my nexus 5 and 7fhd and just don't use it that often. I use my phone often when it's on the charger and qi is much slower than the wire. I just can't see using it
Thats because you're using it wrong. I have 4 Qi pads and they are placed everywhere I stay for a longer time like bed, desk, couch, etc. By that its the most comfortable charging.
And if fast charging is the only reason you need to know that Qi released Version 1.1 with 15 watts (same speed as USB 3.0). But it seems Samsung bought exclusive rights at the moment (Note 5), so we need to wait for other devices supporting it. But I do not miss it.

[How-To] Moto G wireless charging (Universal Qi Receiver)

I've received my universal Qi wireless receiver today. The receiver is smaller than I had thought and fits perfectly into the Moto G. Since our phone lacks internal preparation for Qi (like it can be found on the Samsung Note 2), the connection is made via a micro USB plug. The backdoor can still be clipped on without being disturbed by the Qi receiver pad or its flat band cable. Charging time should be about the about the same as charging the phone from a PC USB port that doesn't output more than 500mA.
This solution is obviously for those who don't need the phones usb port on a daily basis.
The adapter on the left picture (and in the video) is from ebay and is the one that arrived here first. I’ve changed the cable routing to remove the ugly bulge that was visible on my first picture. This adapter outputs a maximum of 500mA and can be purchased from ebay.
Make sure to purchase the "interface layout A, narrow interface up” variant.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261348107126
17.Jan.2014 - The picture on the right shows an adapter purchased from DealExtreme, that arrived here yesterday. This adapter delivers up to 650mA and the flat band cable comes out of the lower side instead out of the backside which removes the need to bent over the cable.
http://dx.com/p/zy-408-wireless-charging-receiver-for-mobile-phone-micro-usb-black-259151
Both adapters work well, so don't worry if you've already bought the one I've first reviewed. (I have both version in use on different phones)
Here is a small video that shows me placing the receiver inside the Moto G:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2WPjw-WaCI
Update 13.02.2014
From my testing I can tell the following:
1. An unrooted Moto G needs to be screen locked (I use the pattern lock type) or it will refuse to charge due to the missing pins. You can unlock the screen while it is charging as long as you don't lift it from the qi charger. (tested on 4.3 and 4.4.2, DE and FR firmware)
2. Root in combination with dubidu's tool makes it more straightforward but is not required.

Thanks. I had looked on fleaBay and it looks like they all have the same packaging. I imagine any qi wireless charger thingy should work. In theory.
anyone know if this would work through an otterbox case? or I guess if this would even work with one due to the fact the part that plugs in sticks out a little bit...

Guys i found this one at dx.com

Those kind of product are not so great are chaging, basically it's almost the same power that if you charge through uSB = 500mA.
What you need to check is the charging value, sometime it's :
- 400mA or less (avoid it, will take ages to charge),
- 500mA (just like your regular USB charger),
- 1000mA (great ones, will charge just like a wall charger, twice as fast as the previous model).
So the one at DX is great, but they're cheaper on ebay, plus you can choose between Black or White - http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
This one was the cheapest (around £15) I could find and works fine.

Am I the only one thinking about finding the plug they use with all the pins intact and integrating a micro sd card into it for OTG storage? Wireless charging and storage, all in one, and fitting under a case.
I had that exact thought about two hours ago. Throw NFC in their while your at it.
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had actually started to do some verrrry preliminary research into something like it using a ribbon cable and another usb port, so you could plug the phone into a wall charger and have the usb/sd card piggybacked off the cable. Hadn't gotten very far though...job, kid, wife etc.......
Someone TAKE MY MONEY for it!! Especially since it seems we're all soon to be headed down the 'no sd card' path.

Hello.
The Moto G doesn't support Qi on its own, you'll need to rig it with an universal wireless Qi charging receiver.
You can buy them from ebay, dealextreme and some other china based stores. The first post contains a short installation video.
This one from dealextreme will work (Output up to 650mA):

I just ordered my OnePlus One and pretty happy. I'll miss the wireless charging however, and I've seen these in the past, but think you could put this under the backplate? They seem pretty thin.

Opinion, or has anyone tried this?? Thanks in advance!
I'm thinking the same thing too. It should fit inside the back cover but I don't know if the nfc pad will interfere the charging. Haven't try wireless charging XD. Another choice is to put that pad under slim back case, should be OK and you don't have to open the 1+1 back cover too. One thing that I concern is the charging rate. With Qi charger, it's going to take forever to fully charge the 1+1. 2A charger vs 500 mA qi charger

First, search the forums on both on XDA and OnePlus.Net. Already ongoing discussions. That said, I've used a few models, including the one listed here. They charge S-L-O-W. Less than 10 percent per hour. If you do use this, get the model with the long end of the USB connecor facing up towards the screen and the narrow end facing down toward the back.

The biggest problem you will have is with the USB plug part. Look at my post history and you will find my thread where I installed on internally. I'm using a 750mA one that seems to charge just fine. It's not as fast as the cord, but it keeps my phone charged all day. I have wireless chargers everywhere though.

The answer is governed by Ohm's Law
Current draw is regulated by the device not the power source. Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points.
If you think about mains electricity, you can plug in a high current device like a kettle or heater to the same socket you plug in a low current device such as a phone PSU.
HTH.
I'd love to find a qi-enabled battery pack like this that has embedded magnets, so I can just stick my Nexus 5 to it, and put it in my pocket. True charging on the go. As it is, I either have to deal with a cable that I'm afraid I'm going to bend/break while I'm moving around, or use rubber bands or something to keep the my phone attached to the charger. Anyone find one?

[Q] Any solutions for QI wireless charging Zerolemon battery?

The zerolemon battery covers the standard pinouts to the QI wireless receiver for wireless charging. Does anyone have a solution, workaround, modification or source for a QI receiver that would work? It is so convenient just to put a phone on a stand and top it off, even with the massive 10,000 mah battery. I am NOT interested in anything that involves soldering anything to my precious phone, or modifying the phone in any way, just the receiver. Thank you in advance for any thoughts!

Maybe one of these cheap charging pads can be modified instead of your phone? They dont seem to have one specifically for the note 4 yet on here, but for $6 thats a pricetag you dont have to cringse about when you srtart soldering on it..

Basically you have to extend the contacts from the phone back. You don't need to solder. You can do it with double stick foam tape, masking tape, adhesive copper braid or sheeting and the adapter. My adapter has not arrived yet so I am not sure it will fit between the Zerolemon battery and the case back. I did something similar to get NFC working with my Zerolemon on my Note 2. Once my adapter gets here I will report if I am successful and the fix is safe and dependable.

Don't Modify Anything
Instead of modifying things just use this simple device available on Amazon. Make sure the output matches the requirements of your device before you purchase or it will not work. This is the one I purchased for use with my LG G3 and the ZeroLemon case with the extended battery and it works just fine. You still do not get the NFC capability, but the wireless charging works. But then who actually uses the NFC anyway?
Just search on amazon for micro USB Qi antenna or wireless charging antenna. (the forum won't let me post the link)
This adapter is very easy to install and adds the Wireless Charging / Qi charging back to your phone. Amazon has several versions, just make sure you get the one that has the correct configuration on the plug, either small side up or small side down, and you also need to make sure you get the one with the correct output. For the Lg G3 it is the one with small side down, 5v-1000ma output to make it work properly.

The Zerolemon battery covers the ports, making the standard Qi receivers not able to attach to them, that's why we need a different solution.

Actually, that is not true. I have installed the exact item I was talking about, and it works perfectly fine. The cover over the port does not fit "air tight" over the port and has plenty of room for the adapter to fit between the cover and the phone. This is why I had suggested the item in the post.

The Note 4 Qi contacts are in 2 places. The upper one, just to the side of the camera, is not covered by the Zerolemon Battery, and does not pose a problem for connecting, but the one next to the battery IS completely covered by the battery itself. Maybe I'm missing something? I don't care about NFC, but would really like the Qi charging feature. If you know of an item that would work, please PM me a link. Thanks!
In case anyone's still wanting to hack a Qi coil on a Zerolemon battery, it works just fine. Here's a step-by-step with pictures. http://traff.as/zerolemonqi

Not for a Note 4, different contacts (won't work).
I really thought I was in the G3 forum...sorry about that.
They make a qi receiver now that plugs in the charger port of the phone and then flips back to the battery door it's on amazon like 15 bucks. Place case over it to protect receiver and phone any your good to go. I'm sure this will work just fine for ya there a universal qi receiver for tablets and phones with no battery door.
Here is a pic for you.
