[Q] Q: Is there a way to fix "unglued" screen stain? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, recently loud speaker on my n7100 died, then it worked again, then it died, then it worked again, then it died again and stop working completely. So I assumed that he might lose connection and I disassembled my phone. While I was doing that, I used thin plastic card to remove the frame around the screen and somehow I managed to push the card in between digitizer and glass of the screen :good: Damage is not that big but its strange looking and Il lose some money when i will selling the phone. So my question is
Q: Is there a way to fix slightly unglued screen and how?
Please dont give me advices like buy new screen ect., I only want to now is it possible to fix this in any way, maybe heat it with dryer or something similiar...Im not in opportunity to post picture of it right now, I will do it in next few hours.
Sorry for my english.
Thanks in advance!:cyclops:

Remove the glass with a heat gun, clean up and put stick it back with LOCA glue. A tricky operation that may do more harm than good. There are plenty of tutorial on how to do this as is is an cheap way to fix cracked screens ( ex : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ_te_pTXJI ).
Maybe just heating it is enough, you may try it, just don't overdo it as too much heat (> 90°C) may damage your screen. An IR thermometer is recommended.

Touchscreen not working

Hello, I am having serious issues with the touchscreen of my BA.
The screen part is kind os loose, it moves slightly sideways.
I have no idea if the two things are connected, the touchscreen also does not work properly, as it randomly does not detect taps.
I have noticed that if I press for a bit the sides of the screen down onto the back of the BA, it works better for a while.
Do you guys have any clue on what the issue could be and how to solve it?
I myself have the idea that some tap detecting thing behind the screen has detached from the screen itself, and that I have to open it to fix it. Am I wrong?
Up.
Anybody who can give some advise before I take it to assistence?
unfortunatly
i have the same issue...and everybody is telling me i need new screen ..if u get a solution... i'd be grateful if u tell me.thnx alot
Hi, I have disassembled it, trying to understand something, but really nothing happened, I can't pretend much since i am not an expert. i have no clue, that is why i am about to take it to the shop and get it fixed. damn it.
hi..
saw this in another site..hope it helps..
"Are you using a screen protector that has got under the case or could there be a bit of detritus between the screen and the case? These cause pressure on the digitizer making it unable to register taps.
Take off the screen protector and see if any improvement. Fold a piece from a sheet of copier paper at the corner to make a scoop and go around the edge of your digitizer just under the case."
regards..

tapping problems - touch screen is not working

Using my htc device suddenly touch screen went off and i could'nt use the stylus at all. The strange thing is that all of the other keys are working good. I tried hard reset the device but nothing happened. Now im stuck in the screen "tap the sreen to set up your windows mobile based device. Can anyone please help? Before the appearence of the above problem i was using google maps, if this helps.
many thanks
Does t have a crack in it? If so then it needs changing, if not then probably the ribbon has come out. Is it under warranty?
no there is nt any crack! everything was good and suddenly while i was tapping to check some maps, stopped.
Sorry for asking but ribbon is that thing above the screen? Is it possible to come out so soon? (6 months). and finally does the warranty covers ribbon change?
Sorry for the above questions but i really dont know what to do!
many thanks
call the company where you buy it from and ask them

If it's only 6 mths old it shoud be under warranty, so take it back to the place you ought it.
If you are determined to try to fix it yourself you have to do the following.
Remove the battery cover & battery.
Remove the 4 small screws
Remove the back-case by running your fingernail round the gap (hard 1st time then easy after that)
Remove 4 more screws
Remove front-case from the middle
Remove the motherboard assembly from the front case and unplug the screen/digitiser assembly, carefully pull that off the motherboard (again not easy 1st time).
You will now see the small digitiser ribbon at the bottom coming off the digitiser and disappearing into the bottom of the screen. It's very easy to take out and not easy to put back in. I use some flat-bladed tweezers to do mine but sometimes it takes a couple of tries. Obviously it's much easier if you are fitting a new digitiser because it's not fixed to the screen like yours will be. If you try to remove the digitiser chances are you will crack it. I re-fitted mine after removing my broken one by using thin cut strips of double-sided tape.
Before you do anything else, just clean with sharp knive or razor between the screen and the cover. You will be surprised how much rubish is is in there.
this things are keeping the screen pressed.
Hope it helps
many thanx 4 the instrustions guys. i'll try that. if everything ok i'll inform you. if not i'll give you my bank account number to deposit money in order to buy a new one.
many thanx again

take apart lg ks20

i need to take apart my ks20. want to repaint the chrome like frame that goes around the phone (lg used some cheap paint, it comes off really easy). I have looked at the service manual, but couldn't get anywhere. After taking out the battery and sim card, there are to screws on top that i removed, i tried to remove the back plastic cover (the one with the camera opening) and no luck, it doesn't budge.
does someone know how to do this? i think the service manual is somewhere on the site, but i have no idea how to proceed.
thanx a lot
Try

thanx for the link, but i have looked at the manual and can't make up anything of it
it doesn't say how to go about taking it apart, all it shows is a diagram with all the pieces
is there anyone here who knows or at least has an idea about this, i really need to get it repainted (i hate scratched phones)
thanx a lot
Maybe some one can answer this question? I also need to disassemble my KS20 - because of dirt on camera lens...
The disassembly is fairly straightforward - remove the battery, remove the visible screws, run a special tool along the black plastic and unclip. It's not easy, but it will come off. The back cover houses thermal pad, because KS20 gets quite hot from time to time. I guess LG didn't anticipate that happening, so the pad is a bit of a last resort solution from them, quite unorthodox.
As far as middle silver strip is concerned, it houses a flex, so unless you know what you are doing - don't bother touching beyond the back cover.
hi, i dissambled my ks20 today.. and i think there's a problem...
my screen wont turn on anymore...there are still sounds and even the touch screen is working..its just that my screen is not showing anything...
i think the connection between the screen and the motherboard was loose...
but then again, i cannot find the connector... can someone help me with this...
Hi,
Read this KS20
By.
tqso much....
i just receive my digitizer today... but i have no idea to repair it myself...can u guide me?
We took my ks20 apart. The screen opened up a bit when it was removed, so perhaps it's broken. We did manage to get the digitizer off however..
Problem is the digitizer was glued with a helluva lot of glue. How will we get it to stick when we put it back? I read some use double-sided tape, but won't that be way too thick?
Glue seems to be the only solution, but what kind and how much? The screen also seemed to have been glued in place.
Will any kind of super glue work? Only a couple of drops perhaps? I'm pretty sure the phone won't be tight after this but..
Anyone who's done this procedure.. What did you use? We're gonna finish this tomorrow so I'm very grateful for any advice.
bump
This is important.

[Q] Touchscreen crack?

Hi, I am in dire need of help...
I dropped my phone, broke the screen and swapped it out for a brand new one. During the swap I managed to make a very small crack at the edge of the new screen... Now the top 3/4 inch doesn't respond.
I find this very strange since when my screen was completely shattered touch worked normally, but now a small crack and it doesn't work? Does that sound normal? Could there maybe be any other underlying problems?
Any help or input would be appreciated...
Thanks
You clearly don't like your DHD and DHD don't like you
Joke.
Well, this surely sounds like interesting but as far as i know, you managed to break the connectors of touchscreen during the replacement. Touchscreen fails (although not completely) = you clearly need a new one, if it is even possible to replace. And about the thing, that this didn't happen when u dropped the phone is because it might only damaged it a little and it still worked, but when changing the glass, the damage extended.
The touchscreen is a layered device. When you shattered it you only broke the outside layer. Sounds like you broke another layer plus the outside layer this time.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Layered digitizer, didn't know that. That makes sense to me because the crack in my new screen isn't superficial (meaning I can't "touch" the crack, it's on the inside I guess).
Thanks again, I guess I'm buying a new digitizer and hope that works, sucks not being able to touch the top portion of the screen!

[Q] A bit of help? Hardware problem

If I could kindly ask for some input...
I was helping a buddy sand his car down (old Midget ) for repainting with my phone directly next to my body. Got done and saw a bit of moisture in front of the front-facing camera lens. Touch screen unresponsive. Rebooted a few times, lots of ghost touches and hanging at the bootloader. Boots consistently now, but:
--Zero digitizer input but plenty of ghost touches
--No network access.
Can I maybe get some input on a plan, especially if anyone here has done hardware on these phones? I've replaced the screen on this one but that was months ago. Done a million different hardware issues but specifically wanting to know if there's any chance it's not worth replacing the screen. I feel bad asking for help on this but I really need to make the best decision.
Thanks Guys!
Vlad
Gen info: Slimkat 4.4.4, stock kernel
EDIT: The goddess of time has smiled upon my phone, and my phone smiled back. I waited 6 hours to post this and had the phone apart for at least that long, yet it looks like it hadn't dried out yet.
However....networking. Looks like the next step is flashing back to stock. Input?
been there, but weedeating

take it apart, see if there is any discoloration of anything(sweat...salt)
if you see any then be careful to remove it. i use lens cleaning clothes with a smudger
then. take a blow dryer to it
~*be careful*~ of course.(the phone can handle being soldered together so a blow dryer wont hurt it unless carelessly heating up one part.)
....i have never had rice work...
then let it sit for just a bit to air out. clean up contact, usb. gold contacts. headphone opening.
carefully...put it back together.
i suggest watching the youtube tear down of the phone
