Transform HTC One Silver (VZW) to HTC One Black - One (M7) Accessories

Anyone know how I can change a HTC One Silver to Black for VZW? I see they have back housings in black on eBay, but do they have a front? Is it fairly difficult to do? I'm not looking for a skin. I really love the black HTC One. Its a shame VZW didn't get it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

The HTC One has a unibody enclosure. I think it's safe to say that it's impossible unless you plan on gutting the phone.

You might as well hit the phone with a hammer. This phones got the lowest repair score of any phone. A 1... Is almost impossible to take it appart without damaging it in some way.

it requires a special tool to take it apart. but if they want to change the front and back of the phone, they will need to replace the screen as its 1 piece for the whole front so this means wreak the LCD anyways.
http://www.etradesupply.com/blog/how-to-tear-down-your-htc-one/
it's not going to be a "cheap" color change and you're better off not doing it unless you want to spend the money.

Anyone spends money how they think is necessary/ appropriate, but this phone is simply not designed to be taken apart and attempting to disassemble seems absurd. Money wise makes no sense, you need to buy the back first, and then you need to buy and replace the whole front end... Then you run the risk of completely breaking the device. Oh and not counting that your warranty is completely voided... Seriously. Makes no sense at all. Sell the phone and get a phone with the color you want.

agreed, spray paint or even a vinyl would be a "safer" alternative.

Easiest way would be to look @ your phone through very dark glasses.

Opening the phone will also void your warranty. Just get yourself a nice case in the color you want. It will be MUCH less hassle.

good luck!

Look, TMO doesn't offer black either. So I ordered a black TPU case. It covers up just about the entire phone. Most people seeing me use the phone would think it is black with silver highlights. I'd do that for $10 before I'd attempt to swap out the housing.
Good luck!

What if you housing is already really messed up with scratches dings and all that could you replace it then

You should buy one of the skin kits that makes it look black.

There are many companies that makes skins so search for a good one or kind you like.

That sounds really good. I don't mind my surround being blue, but I do want the screen/soft keys black. I'd have to find a way to make the home button black too. Perhaps paint a white button black with black lexan body paint and swap at the same time.

Can I fix the scratches on my phone?

The side where? On the screen, the front bezel, the battery cover?? If its on the case of the phone somewhere i suppose you could find replacement parts online and swap all the internals if you were so inclined. If the screen itself is scratched, other than some hair brained schemes like blow torches and sand paper i would say you are stuck with the scratch. The good news is a decent screen protector film should disguise anything other than a major disfiguring.

I had people bring back phones that had water damage. Half our managers would say take it back and the other half would think about it and then may or may not do it. If he just got it yesterday he could reason that it was too easy to scratch since it is supposed to have gorilla glass. I've returned more with less reason because the customer was nice.

You don't really have to do either one, but if you are trying to swap it in store I would, and you have to have a reason other than the scratch. If you are using GSBTP you need to break something on it so they'll send it off. If you use GSBTP you don't need to unroot because that doesn't matter.

Clumsy people can be a pain
would it be bad if you just swap it out saying you actually want the blue one but buy the screen protector to hide the scratch, and then a couple days later just go back and switch to a new white one saying you actually preferred the white one to the blue one?

No luck there anyway. Just battery covers.
EDIT: Now that I look closely at repair videos, it looks like the glass is glued to the frame. Swapping it out isn't trivial and risks damaging the screen. Damn.
Yea, the colored part that you see on the front is where the glass is adhered to the metal frame. as you said, it can be done, but it's not exactly easy. I'm just glad i got the blue instead of the white one.
Looks like I'll have to find someone local to trade with

[Q] Body swap question

Okay, first I would like to start off that I've been on here for quite some time even though I don't post a whole hell of a lot, so I did search before I got this far lol.... I bought my One a few weeks after the release date and since then I've put quite the dent into it and the speakers have managed to blow somehow.. seeing I have to take apart practically the whole damn phone, I figured go big or go home and decided to do a whole body swap from white to blue... I was ready to order all of the parts on etradesupply.com and I came across this: http://www.etradesupply.com/htc-one-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-with-front-housing.html
As I was reading, I noticed that it said this:
Compatibility: HTC One*801c, 801n, 801s, 801e
I know for a fact this will work on the AT&T and t-mobile versions, can anyone confirm that it will work on Verizon's? I would just wing it and order it but I don't want to spend that much on it and the rest of the parts only for it to not fit.

Yeah I was gonna end up doing that if it wouldn't work... I was actually going to body swap colors but can't seem to tell if that lcd will work with the Verizon version... I could just do the upper and lower housing but I hear that they'll never stay on properly after install... I had a insured business that offered to do the swap and replace the speakers for $35... Probably not worth the risk.
I am sure they can body swap to a blue for you also for a little extra. I personally love the best buy blue.

Back cover question

Need help. Am going to tmobile store to buy it but unable to decide which color as I'm afraid white will get dirty or yellowish. I would buy it though if we could get replacement back covers to change once it gets dirty.
So can we change back cover with new one? Are they available?

If your not a case kind of person you could buy a nice skin. Im tempted to get a carbon or kevlar skin and ditch my case. The only down side is what if you drop it on cement. But since you're not puting it in a case anyway that wont matter.
