Nexus 5 "Experience" Launcher on Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

I found this today and wanted to share. I searched and couldn't find this on the forum so I thought I'd throw it out there. I did this and only needed to download the Launcher and not the Google Now file. Tried to upload pics but apparently I am unable too as it says I do not have permission.

It took me a while to figure it out as well. For any one else having this issue just drag either an icon or a widget to an adjacent page and it will create it for you.

the google experience launcher linked in the OP is outdated, here's the actual one from the 4.4.1 nexus5 rom:
http://dl.androidnext.de/com.google.android.launcher-0.10.1.920880.apk

...and it still gets messed up in landscape mode where widgets/icons on the top row sit behind the search bar.
The workaround is to just not use the top row for anything.

Agreed, also having the same problem.
Also, is it just me or did the grid size get a lot smaller?!

Yes, the grid has gone from 6x6 to 5x5, which is what's causing the issues for us.

I'm not a fan of the new grid size. It's messing with my setup.

I've noticed a few grid related issues too; most notably the search bar overlays my home screen widgets while in landscape orientation. This is with the "original" download and not the updated one further down this thread. I will have to see if there is any discernable difference between the two. If all else fails, I can always just switch back to Apex launcher

In my experience, the latest apks (from the op) fix the problem of search bar overlaying widgets on home screen. But you get a smaller grid size.... Gaaaaarrh!!
Somebody has suggested using xposed to set the DPI...

Hi guys,
I have a weird problem this morning. my playstore apps auto updated this morning and after that, my screen was refreshed and my folders and some widgets were missing. I'm not sure if it's because of this launcher or is it the nexus 7 bug itself.
anyone has the same experience?
Thanks!

Exactly the same problem for me. I woke up this morning and all my full screen widgets were gone and one of my folders had disappeared. It also looks like the grid size has changed

[Q] Other Launchers (Nova, Apex...)

I'm still waiting note 2 to arrive to Turkey. I'd like to ask has anyone tried GN2 with other launchers like nova or apex. If than, what do u lose?
I think it's hard to pull down notification bar one handedly and gestures included in nova and apex are helpful in this situation.
I think you lose PageBuddy, which is helpful when you pull out the Spen.

I think you got me wrong; I'm talking about pulling down the notification bar with your thumb of right hand when holding phone in your right hand.
In nova you have gestures, swiping down anywhere on the screen is enough.
I use Go Launcher and it runs extremely well. No problems found. Gesture support is included so pulling the notification bar down with a gesture is very useful on this big screen.
I tried Nova but 'Go' is better as it has a lot of extra 'bolt on' apps.

I was asking the question (on another forum) about "what we loose" if we use another launcher.
So you can confirm everything works ? (except Samsung widgets I imagine)
What about default gestures like Covering the screen, sweeping for a screenshot, shaking for updates, moving the hand over the GN II to wake up

Do you know what bothers me on Go launcher Ex? Indeed, it IS the best launcher I´ve seen so far as well, but what still makes me using another launcher (Nova) is the App Drawer. It doesn´t matter which theme I´ve tested...the drawer always looks cheap or is lagging on Go launcher Ex.

The gestures all work including those you mentioned and split screen, so do all features with the S-Pen. Anything that's a Touch Wiz feature such as Samsung Widgets, Page Buddy don't. There's little that don't and you get more pros than cons using another launcher.

Salut!
Yes I had the problem using APEX either on stock or omega 3 ROM. Was very obvious with transparent widget i.e. APW and very annoying.
There is a fix for the S3 saw that from another thread were a member stated that fix should work for our NOTE 2.
So I gave it a try...
The fix is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894633
Somehow using CWM and that s3 fix ZIP did not work for me. So I used root explorer extracted the libhwui.so renamed the original one in /system/lib and copied the extracted one
And voila indeed fixed after rebooting
There might be some side effect i.e.: in EMAIL when scrolling there can be flickering flashing on some mail with HTML/images but it seems only if DEVELOPER option force GPU rendering is checked...I'm not 100% sure on that one but noticed it on some mail
So I confirm the statement of the XDA member the S3 FIX is functional on the NOTE 2 but possibly with some side effects....
Cheers
Jean-Marc
Hmm I'd better stay away from side effects and wait to see how it goes with a later fix maybe
Using Nova Prime. Good.

Minimize on screen nav-keys

Just saw the Huawei Ascend, they have an option for minimizing the on screen buttons, next to the back button.. Very nice! Is it difficult to make for our Nexus4 ?

very nice feature.
i hope the next nexus have something like this..to hide/unhide the nav bar anytime you want while onscreen.. the aokp using time out..can be frustrating at time..
In AOKP you can also have a quick toggle for that previously mentioned auto-hide Navbar feature - so you can turn the feature on before playing a game or whatever (and still have quick access to the navbar buttons): Screenshot.
You can also add an option to enable/disable the navbar from the Power Menu (just straight up disable it, without the autohide): Screenshot.
Though I do agree, having a button on the navbar to quickly minimize it (like the Huawei ascend) would be pretty awesome.

Downlaod the app mentioned above GMD Gesture. You have to set it up in settings where it hides the nav bar/status bar on screen unlock, and show nav/status bar on screen off. There seems to be an issue if you dont have the nav bar "showing" while the screen is off, when you get a call your screen will not turn on. It took me awhile to get it set up correctly. Now it works, but if I have my screen on doing anything on the phone and the nav bar is hidden if I get a call I still will not see who it is unless I push the button to turn my screen off the back on. One more thing if you dont use a live wallpaper when waking your screen up your background will be all black for a sec or two then your background comes up. Live wallpapers have no problem. Other than those issues it works fine. I have another gesture setup to manually hide/unhide the nav bar also, if I did want to use it. Oh yea, the nav bar and notification hide/unhide together fyi. Hope you're not to confused after reading that lol.

No confusion, and thanks for the reply, but this seems way too broken at the moment. If you have to do this many work-arounds and have this many issues you have to deal with, then the app should be free not $5.56.
I am interested in the single button on the navbar as well. Bump this hoping there is a dev that can mod something here. deodexed/stock.

[FRAMEWORK] Change extra settings on the LG G2 (Sprint)

I wanted to switch my bottom buttons to the familiar HTC order, "Home, Menu, Back" but LG does not offer this option. While finding a solution, I found a pretty cool program that most probably already know about, but some might not. It allows you to do what I needed to do, plus much more.
CREDIT: First and foremost, all credit goes to rovo89 and his thread located here. Be sure to send him "thanks."
Step 1: Goto the Google Play Store and download, "G2 Xposed" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2).
Step 2: Download the Xposed Installer APK and install it.
Step 3: Launch the Xposed Installer.
Step 4: Go to the "Framework" section and click on "Install/Update."
Step 5: Reboot
Step 6: Launch the Xposed Installer again and go to the "Modules" section (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet).
Step 7: Enable the LG G2 module by checking the checkbox.
Step 8: Reboot.
Step 9: Enjoy.
Works great! I've been hearing a lot about xposed but never knew where to find it or if it would work properly with the ls980. Thanks a bunch! I finally have my recents key again!
