[REQ] 3-way Reboot menu for 4.3 update - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey all,
I'm looking for an extended reboot menu thats flashable for the new 4.3 update thats been rolling out. I'm on Telus (Canadian carrier) stock rom NOT rooted but with custom recovery. (Can't root due to work restrictions). Does anyone know of one or if the ones for ex the GS3 would work?
Thanks!

If you are not Rooted but with a custom recovery you flashed an unlocked bootloader correct?
As far as I know the 4.3 update for I317m bootloader has not yet been unlocked. I think if you accept the update to stock 4.3 you would lose your custom recovery until the unlocked 4.3 bootloader has been cracked. I don't think you would be able to flash any mods at that point.
Don't quote me.

A bit of background information on my set up.
Previosuly I was unlocked, rooted and custom rom on 4.1. Then my work began no longer allowing rooted phones to receive company email so in SuperSU I clicked "unroot" and kept the custom recovery and custom rom with all the tweaks but lost root access. Then my phone got messed up somehow so I decided to wipe it and install a new rom as it had been a few months. I installed a 4.3 rom and proceeded to unroot it. Apparently in 4.3 something has changed and simply clicking unroot removed my root access but the company program (Good for Enterprise) could still detect that it had been rooted. So I grabbed the Telus stock 4.3 firmware from a mirror (Sammobile still doesn't have it due to hotfile being shut down) and flashed it through Odin. This put me back to stock recovery and stock firmware, not rooted. I then flashed TWRP over the stock recovery in Odin and here we now are. I can confirm that the recovery flash did take and I am able to get into it, etc. Just looking for some .zips to flash now to bring things back to a custom rom state minus the root.

I think your stuck until some one comes out with a stock deodexed version as the reboot options are in the androidpolicy.jar file . Skynote 10 is based on the latest Canadian 4.3 and has the reboot option., just pull your csc folder and put it in the zip before flashing. But it is rooted and not sure if you can use cf-root to unroot as i have never tried to unroot you could also use xposed and wanam but you will need root for them to work hope i didn't confuse you

ATT OTA 4.3 rooted, but still need unlock

I swtiched to t-mobile from ATT, expecting that I can call ATT and get an unlock code fast. However, they moved to some stupid online unlock code request method, which after 5 days, has not resulted in any more than "we are currently working on it."
So after reading more and more about unlocking my S3, it seems like everyone is having problems unlocking 4.3, and there's talk about how a firmware downgrade or root will brick a OTA 4.3 phone.
My phone is now rooted with a custom bootloader, all done AFTER upgrading to OTA 4.3. not sure if it'll help anyone out, but here's what I did:
1. started with official att 4.2 rom installed, completely stock phone.
2. tried the debug menu sim unlock method, did not have the appropriate menu, someone suggested to upgrade to latest firmware.
3. upgraded to OTA 4.3
4. tried debug sim unlock, still no initializ option
5. Installed custom recovery via odin
6. Did not install due to recovery/bootloader override files in 4.3 rom, also could not rename/delete these files
7. Used CF-auto-root to root phone, using the latest odin, NOT 1.85 as linked in the CF-auto-root thread
8. Used the samsung toolbox and flashed touch recovery
9. Updated SuperSU to latest version using apk file, backed up relevant data using Titanium, disabled KNOX, etc.
10. Loaded StockMOD ROM | AT&T 4.3 UCUEMJ2 onto SD card, and flashed new rom using touch recovery
*I was trying a ton of things last night, so there may have been an omitted step here, but this is essentially what I did.
Phone now rooted and running StockMOD 4.3 with no problems.
BUT IT'S STILL SIM LOCKED!! <- need help with this
my experience is only unlocking from 4.1.1 stock, then updating. after re-reading your post this method may not work, and it sounds like you already tried it.

Afraid it may remain locked until you actually have the unlock code. So far, nobody has posted a (credible) report of being able to unlock for free once you've taken the 4.3 update. Unfortunately, the advice you got on upgrading to 4.3 was wrong because you could have safely downgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 where the free unlock option would have been available.
Your best bet would, therefore, to put more pressure on AT&T for the unlock code. If you are eligible, they should oblige.
In order to enter the unlock code, you need to be running and stock ROM.
^ I was just about to ask that... I'll need to get the stock ROM again now...
So I got the stock rom, and I used touch recovery to install the zip... but it said it failed??
So I tried this

Forgot which one I used.. I think the CWM version. Flashed w/ Touch Recovery, and the unlock code worked! woo hoo!!
Now to re-root my phone and install all my apps again... T_T

Now that you have stock 4.3, try Method 2 in the thread below to root ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991
I was able to root just fine. Thanks though.
Actually, the touch recovery asked if I wanted to install supersu right after I flashed the original 4.3 recovery, and I said yes. This still allowed me to unlock since it was still stock att rom. I'm now running OSE 4.4. =)
Astana... what pin# did you use?

If you're asking for an unlock code, its different for every device. Based on the imei from what I understand.

[Q] Downgrading CM11 to stock 4.3 on i747M

I know there are a few threads regarding this issue but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
I am currently running stock 4.3 jellybean (rooted). My phone hasn't received the 4.4 KitKat update yet, so I wanted to install CM11 in order to get KitKat on my s3. However, I heard CM11 can be buggy on the s3, so in case things go south, I want to be able to revert back to the stock 4.3 rom. Some people have said that you can easily flash the stock ROM via ODIN. However, others said that downgrading from 4.4.2 to 4.3 will hard brick the device since installing CM11 updates the boot loader. So downgrading to 4.3 stock with a 4.4.2 boot loader will cause a hard brick according to other threads I've seen. My question is, how can I downgrade from CM11 to stock 4.3 safely without bricking? Thanks in advance.
If you are sure you are using a Canadian version of the i747m, you can flash back to stock in Odin using a stock 4.3 ROM for the phone's original carrier (Bell, Rogers, Telus).

Yes I got the phone from Rogers, it's most definitely i747M. But do I have to worry about any issues with the bootloader? I'm assuming installing CM11 will install the 4.4.2 bootloader, so if I choose to downgrade to the stock 4.3 rom, will it cause any issues seeing as I'm running a 4.3 rom with a 4.4.2 bootloader? I just want to make sure because I heard it can cause some serious problems if the bootloader is newer than the rom.

I have never come across a custom ROM that touches the bootloader. A compatible bootloader has to be loaded on the phone before you attempt to install the custom ROM. Supported bootloaders can be found in the ROM's updater script.
I assume your phone has no warranty since you rooted it on stock 4.3. Did you root it by installing a pre-rooted ROM?
You could copy a ROM to your external SD card, install Philz Touch via Odin, reboot directly to recovery, create a nandroid backup, wipe cache, Dalvik, data, and install your KK ROM.

Okay, I was just making sure because I know OTA updates can change the bootloader, so I just wanted to make sure the custom roms don't do that. As for the custom recovery, are you recommending Philz Touch over CWM and TWRP? Do you know which custom recovery is installed from the CM installer?

Oh and one more question, my phone was originally carrier locked to Rogers and unrooted on 4.3 jelly bean. I brought it in to a cell store for them to carrier unlock it for me, but they used a rooting method to unlock it (because SuperSU was installed on it when I brought it back). They didn't unlock it with a code, so I'm guessing they used something like Samsung Tool or z3x shell. If I install CM11, will I lose the unlock, considering it's more of a "soft unlock", or is the unlock permanent regardless of how many roms I flash? Thanks for your help!

Philz is based on the latest release of CWM and I prefer CWM over TWRP because I had problems flashing ROMs. Once I switched to Philz/CWM, no more problems.

The unlock should be permanent. I unlocked it using the free method when on 4.1.1 and no ROM has ever caused it to re-lock. Reflashing a completely stock ROM, including the bootloader, did not relock the phone.
Please remember that flashing and changing ROMs will always carry a risk of soft bricking or hard bricking your phone. Make sure you read all of the guides and be prepared for disaster.

galaxy s3 at&t variant 747 rooted 4.1.1. I747UCDLK3 update to kitkat.

Hey guys I am trying to update my galaxy s3 to kitkat. I am running galaxy s3 at&t variant 747 rooted 4.1.1. I747UCDLK3 update to kitkat. I realized I need to update to 4.1.2 first before doing the 4.3 update. I can't seems to find files I need for 4.1.2. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thank you for your help.
Are your running stock 4.1.1? If you are and your phone is not sim unlocked, unlock it using the free method. Once unlocked, use Odin to flash back to stock unrooted 4.1.1 and then run OTA until you get to KK. It's a longer process than trying to flash straight to 4.4 but is a safer method for people that are new to flashing ROMs.
I am on the stock rom 4.1.1. Does CWM recovery need to go back to stock as well? That is a good idea to unlock before I update.
If you flash back to stock 4.1.1 with Odin, it will wipe everything and put the phone back to completely unroot stock and stock recovery. Stock recovery and being unrooted is required for OTA updates.
Ok is this the link to unlock phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529200
Yes, that's it.
I can't seem to find 4.1.1 rom file links seem to be bad on unlock page.
There are stock rooted 4.1.1 images here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
You can use the free unlock method even if the ROM is rooted.
For some reason the at&t mirrors don't seem to be working either.
Mirror2 for the stock rooted 4.1.1 works for me.
I would like to root again after kit kat Is it easy to root with knox? Does unlock stick through kit kat? I really appreciate all of the help. Great website. Great people.
Many people have had success with rooting by using Towelroot.
The sim unlock is permanent.
Let me know how it goes for you @thepar. I expect to be updating to kitkat in the coming week.
For the benefit of those searching the forums to unlock their phones my experience may be of help to those on 4.1.2 or possibly even MJ2. I have had my SGS3 since June 2013 and only allowed one update, that was to 4.1.2. My phone was rooted long ago, but I just unlocked it earlier today and that was with a custom recovery in place and without unrooting. In my case I did not revert to the 4.1.1 rom. I did downgrade the modem to dlk3, that of 4.1.1 while leaving the rom and bootloader at MG2. After completing the unlock I upgraded the modem back to MG2. I have confirmed that SMS, MMS, phone, and wifi functionality is intact.
In truth, I will probably not go back to stock to get to kitkat. I am considering upgrading to the leaked MJ2/4.3 bootloader and MJB modem and then flash a kitkat rom which will work on them, there are several.
I just did the unlock yesterday. I need to find someone with a t-mobile sim to test if the unlock worked. Will I still be able to update the OS even though it is on rooted stock? What will it update me too?
I am kind of debating if I should install a custom rom minus KNOX.

If you want to run an OTA update, you need stock recovery and an unrooted system.
I have a stock recovery but the os is rooted. I don't mind using oden to update the os. I might be better to install a rom with knox removed. I can't seem to find 4.1.1 stock unrooted. I did find 4.0.1 ICS.
You can find a stock ATT 4.1.1 ROM on sammobile.com.
You cannot use Odin to flash a stock KK ROM because it was never released in an Odin format by ATT. ATT provided the KK update via OTA updates. Complete KK updates were provided for i747m only.
Thanks so much!! downloading now.
Let us know what happens. Cheers
I have decided to go custom rom route. It is better to update stock ota first then install custom rom or custom rom straight from 4.1.1?

Stuck on 4.1.2, stock rooted need help

Hello,
I messed up my Note 8 and recently was able to reinstall 4.1.2 stock, I tried connecting to Kies and it doesn't work. I wanted to update to the newest software then root. Since that wasn't working I rooted via Odin then attempted to flash twrp so I could flash a custom rom. Root works but the custom recovery doesn't stick... I tried unticking reboot in odin and the system still reboots into standard recovery.
I tried using the toolkit and its stuck on waiting on debug even though debug is clicked.
Can anyone help me install a custom recovery via odin or another way?
If you have the at&t sgh-i467 version - there is not a custom recovery for it because it has a locked bootlader.
Additionally, the newest 4.4.2 ota update has not been rooted as of yet - so if you must have root, don't install the ota.
The original mf1 rom is rootable, but again there is no customers recovery due to the locked bootloader.
This only applies to the at&t in version...
use Odin

[Q] Updating a already Rooted Galaxy S3 that's on 4.1?

I rooted my dad's phone a while back ago so he can use tethering in case of emergencies etc. He recently got a smart watch and I wanted to updated it so that he can use it. But it has not been touched since that day. I essentially want rooted stock rom, I'm unaware of where to find that the closest I can find is StockMod kitkat. Which seems to not work on ATT phones? I just want to make sure that I don't brick his only phone on christmas. So is there something I should be aware of?
His model is SGH-i747
Baseband
i747UCDLK3
Build number
jro03
So how do I go about upgrading it? Can I just flash TWRP and flash any rom using TWRP?
I found this, so I should install new TWRP, then flash a specified kernel then flash rom? would this be safe route?
Some of the latest ROMs require a 4.4.2 bootloader and modem.
The simplest and safest way to get the latest bootloader may be to flash back to unrooted stock 4.1.1 and run OTA updates until the phone is running the latest KK ROM. You can then flash TWRP or CWM and a custom ROM.

Would this require flashing with ODIN? I just want it so that it works with root is not required anymore.
Yes, you would flash the 4.1.1 stock ATT ROM via Odin. I prefer Odin 3.07.
You cannot install OTA updates with root.
You can try flashing just the bootloader and modem but I prefer the long slow route of OTA updates.
I rather do it this way, manually so my dad can enjoy it today. I was wondering how can I update it's TWRP? it's at 2.3 but the TWRP manager keeps crashing when I update it.
I highly recommend the latest d2lte version of Philz Touch for recovery.
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/
Ok I ****ed up, flash that kernel and did whatever and bam ****ed up. Not working... ****, I still ahve download mode and Recovery but it will not boot into the OS. I get a flash of samsung and then nothing else happends...****
I decided to flash stock DLK3 in odin. Then let the updates take it course (my dad doesn't need root) Where Can I find the file?
The stock ATT firmware is on sammobile.com.
If you want root, OTA to the latest 4.4.2, install Philz, flash supersu via recovery.
