Look up proclip car docks, their universal phone docks are AWESOME. Buy one dock, use it for any phone you purchase in the future.

[Q] Windshield mount

I'm keeping my Droid 1 activated for the sole purpose of providing GPS nav until there's a windshield dock for myTouch 4G. Anyone have a lead on one in development? Official Tmobile stores have nada and no idea on timing. There's one for the 3G so hopefully it'll happen soon.
Thanks,
check the t-mo website for accessories. they have an in-car holder for the my touch.
I think he might be referring to the one one like the nexus one which should be out soon

Just saw this one, whatcha think?
Tetrax on eBay
I can't seem to find any other reviews.
How about it.... let's put a magnet on the phone with compass in it and try using GPS.... Brillian, absolutely brilliant I say!
Ya, there are a few so-so generic holders, I'm hoping for one specifically designed for the phone. The one for my Droid fit perfectly and held it very firmly and could be landscape or portrait.
Thanks for the tip though.

Tmobile will be releasing a special one. That's what the prongs on the left are for to charge while on the new dock.
But has there been anything released about the official docks? It makes sense that we will see one, but it may just be an alarm clock dock.
Any links suggesting either?
car dock, and desk dock
you guys... the buttons are in the drawer...
the docks just put them in that mode automatically, charge, and some feature a bluetooth speaker...
same as nexus1

Doesnt the original Droid have magnets built in to control the dock features? If the price was better, I would be willing to give it a shot.
My problem is that I cannot buy a device specific holster for the car because I use a plethora of different phones and my wife does as well. I bought a generic universal holder off EBay awhile back for our trip to Cali and it worked great...for a month, then the POS fell apart...at least I got my $8.00 out of it

Dock?

Has anyone bought this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-Sync-Cra...751912?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cbfabe768
After using a similar dock for my Nexus One, I think I'm hooked to them. mainly because I can use the phone as a desk clock when I sleep and it's also easier to debug/run apps from Eclipse and not pick up the phone to use them every time.
All I'm concerned about it that because there's no reinforcement at the front, it might be a lot of stress on the mirco-usb port. Any thoughts?
I would rather buy this cradle from Kidgi
http://kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1356
Looks geat and I know quality is good. Already own acouple of dock from them for a Defy and HD2. Pitty no pogo pins though. I sent Kidigi an email asking about futre docks usng tem and their prompt reply wasthat they are looking into it.
Those both look really nice for portrait docks... And I seriously can't decide if I'd prefer a portrait or landscape...
If I go for landscape, I think the best, although definitely not cheapest, solution would be to stick the official battery charger and cradle together with plastic velcro so that I'd have them together all the time, then when I go on a trip and need a second battery and stand, I'd just disconnect them and take that part.
...oei I overcomplicate things, haha.

I need portrait since I'll then probably be using it to test out apps without picking up the phone. A landscape dock would defeat the purpose

Best Car Dock for LTE Nexus with Case and Extended Battery?

I'd prefer something windshield mounted. If I'm not getting the 3-pin version, I don't see why I should have to remove my case for the car dock, so I'd like one of those generic car mounts.
I have no experience with them though. What's the best one? Any recommendations?
check out Ram Mounts. google it
They are the most sturdy, but can be expensive.
i use the X mount one with my gnex and its awesome.
FYI I saw someone mention using the standard Garmin nuvi suction cup mount, with a GN in a case it does seem to fit.

This thread is about the verizon nexus. You say you have the european samsung dock with the pogo pins and the verizon phone fits in it?
If so, do the pins line up and work to put in in car mode?
I ordered the VZW/LTE specific version of the car dock from mycellworld.com. its supposedly legit in that it has the 3 pins and is definitely for the LTE handset. its on back order, supposed to ship next week. will review as soon as it shows up.

p.s. I have the extended OEM battery and I also have the generic car dock (no 3 pins) and it fits no problem.

I know you said you prefer windshield mounted but I just bought the Tetrax FIXWAY mount and I love it. There is a large thread on it with lots of pics/videos. That thread is one of the reasons I bought it.
I too was looking for a car mount to be used with a case and an extended battery. I was just going to use a generic one off of amazon that was like a clamp style. Even though the Tetrax doesn't suction cup to the windshield, I think it is worth you looking at if you haven't already.
I mounted mine onto my dash and think it works perfectly. It doesn't obstruct my view at all and its is just a quick glance down to check navigation/music.
The phone is really quick to just 'snap' it in place. The only downside to me is that you have to manually plug in the power and aux cords but I don't even see this as a true downside since you will have to do this with any generic mount you would need in order to keep the case on.
If you are interested and would like me to take any additional pictures for you just let me know and I would be happy to do what I can
ProClip adjustable width mount is what I'd recommend

I ordered the X-grip mount with a medium size arm and the adhesive rubber ball base(I plan on keeping my car until its run into the ground) on January 11th.
Soon after ordering they informed me that the base wasn't in stock but it would ship out in 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks past with no word, then he said it would ship out at the end of the week. Still no shipping
I figured CS people would know not to give unrealistic ETA dates(especially when ram-mount makes the damn things themselves), especially over and over again, stringing the customer along...

Let us know when you get it because I read a lot on the thread about the 3-pin that some people got burned by claims of the docks having 3 pin connection when they actually didn't. Keep us updated!

I'm really tempted. Both options above are expensive. I was worried that the attachment thing might look like ****, but from the pictures in that thread, it doesn't look too bad. Same question though, can I turn it to landscape for Navigation? Also, how sturdy is the connection? Will it fall off as my car hits a bump or something?

+1 to ProClip! They have a mount that can adjust with different cases, and it's very sturdy. The one I have mounts to my vent though (I prefer this anyway since my windshield is so...sloped). They are kinda pricey also, but they don't look too bulky and are specifically made for your car model. I love mine.
Would like to bump this thread to see if anyone else had suggestions for good universal car mounts/docks that will work with a GNEX in a case.

try the iBolt pro dock alumina... this car dock works with just about any phone, and especially works great with the galaxy nexus.... this cardock allows you to place it on either the windshield, dashboard, or air vent since extra pins are supplied to place the dock there and theres no need to remove your case from your phone... which is a god send.. it only cost me about $35 on amazon, so i cant argue with the price... i have excellent photos of it, that i'll share as soon as i reach the 10 post mark, that allows me to attach files and externals link...

Naztech 4000 Car Dock

Has anyone ever used a Naztech 4000 Universal Car Dock? It says it's compatible with the S3 and it's pretty inexpensive. Here's a YouTube review:

I've seen it on eBay as well as Amazon. Thoughts?
The Infuse dock for $17 shipped is a much better dock.
Actually IMO, it's the best dock for the S3 right now.
Search the forum for info about it. Use keyword "infuse".

My only concern with that one was drilling out the holes for the speaker but it may still be worth looking into.

If you use the 3.5mm audio-out option then there will never, ever be a need to use the internal speaker.
Actually, I've been using the dock for the last seven months with a Skyrocket SII and never once used the internal speaker.
So my point is, don't worry about drilling. It's not needed.

Very well. Not sure what material the suction pad is made from but it sticks very well to my dashboard and window more so than any other car holders I have tried over the years.
Sticks a little too well for me. I can't reposition it.
