different versions of debuggerd, for those who can't OTA due to 'unexpected contens' - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

It's the second time that this problem confronts me.
The OTA update process keeps complaining '/system/bin/debuggerd' with unexpected contents. Last time I have no idea so I flash the whole stock image. This time I found out that it's stickmount who modified the file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062768
So, I managed to get three versions of debuggerd (JSS15R, KRT16O, KRT16S) for whose who need it.
See the attachment
p.s. added the new debuggerd from KOT49H after the OTA update.

no, you get it wrong. I just packed different versions of debuggerd for update (this forum won't allow updated files with no extension). Just unpack the zip, choose the desired version and copy it to /system/bin.

thanks very useful i always seem to get this issue with stickmount....time to stop using it...

Can someone please post original debuggerd for KTU84L
Thanks

Stickmount makes a backup of debuggerd, it renames it debuggerd.backup, it's in the same directory as the one it replaced it with.

I tried that one and it didn't work. Same error message. If anyone has the 4.4.3 debuggerd, that'd be great. I tried using one from my Moto x on 4.4.3 and that didn't work either.

Thank you so much but this file doesn't work either. Did you have by chance stickmount installed during the update? In that case the file gets modified during the first boot and therefore doesn't work anymore

[ROM] Stock yakjuux ITL41F

I thought i would post this, since I haven't seen it anywhere, and in case it helps someone out.
This is a nandroid backup of a stock yakjuux ITL41F build: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c3a77cd/n/2011-12-21.18.22.20.zip
What I did was factory reset my device and take a backup using CWM. (It should still be rooted, and with busy box installed.)
It is a nandroid backup of the system, data, cache and boot images, as well as the CWM recovery. To restore this, extract the directory from the zip and place it in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup directory on your device, reboot into CWM and restore.
I have not included the bootloader, stock recovery or radio - the radio can be found in my signature. The stock recovery is the same as the yakju build posted on Google's factory image site. As for the bootloader, I have no idea how to dump it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
EDIT: Link updated.
EDIT: This nandroid backup works. I've tested it myself. If you are having problems, then see here and here.

Don't forget that you will need to remove su, Superuser.apk and busybox in order to make it completely stock.

Hello,
Was following your posts and am also on a nexus on Rogers.
my question is if I'm currently connected to an exchange server using active synch and am doing so in a corporate worl using mobile iron...can I update to the Stock yakju ICL53F build?
and If I do so using your backup and restore guide will I lose my connection to iron mobile when I restore?

I'm not sure what iron mobile is, but you certainly can flash yakju ICL53F and use ActiveSync on an Exchange server (I am) -- you just need to set up your account on your device after you flash.

After you unzip the file into the right directory, try doing this before booting into CWM:
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2011-12-21.18.22.20
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *.* > nandroid.md5

Umm... Doesn't that just constitute overriding the security check? If the backup is uncorrupted, the md5 calculated on my phone should equal the one calculated on yours. That's a really dangerous suggestion.

CWM has been know to mess up in the past when you transfer backups to different devices. (It worked fine for me on my device, but it is my back-up image.)
And besides, you were just flashing it to apply the update in order to get the radio, anyway, so how is it dangerous.
P.S. I already posted the radio in the radio thread.

I just updated my NEXUS 7 2013 from 4.4 to 4.4.2 but after restarting, the Android version in settings still says 4.4.

I also tried updating manually using TWRP zip update but it failed.

Hope someone can help me find a solution for this. Thanks!

Thanks a ton - I thought I was going to have to do something a hell of a lot more time-consuming than a sideload.
And for some reason, TWRP isn't letting me sideload. ADB won't detect the tablet to allow it.
EDIT: Nevermind - evidently it was something very recent that got messed up - I returned to the backup I made after getting 4.4.1 loaded, and it flashed without issue. Yay.

You need to take the device back completely to stock for the update to work.
Wugs Toolkit is an incredible tool to do so.
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
No, that will mean loss of time. If you use wug toolkit you can extract system.img from stock image and then flash it on your device, so that you won't have to erase anything. Anyway if debuggerd zip worked there's no need to do anything else

I received a verizon htc one from someone in a trade for my wife and it was already rooted and I believe the bootloader is unlocked and I believe it has s-off. It had the unsense 4.4.2 rom already installed but my wife does not like how you have unlock the screen then hit answer call to answer incoming calls. Also the notification light is not working on that rom so I figured I would try installing something else for her. when you post a rooted version of the new ota can i install it via twrp that is already installed on the htc one?

If you decide to wait for the OTA, remember that Google releases OTAs gradually over a couple of weeks.

The problem I'm having is different. After typing "adb sideload <filename>" in the command window I get the message "sending: <filenam>" repeadedly scrolling in the window. It goes on forever. Like loop. Any suggestions?
Update: Nevermind. After watching the video posted above I see that it's supposed to look like that. It worked fine
Thanks
I got the update last night.

My bad! I'm extremely sorry and i respect you a lot as I updated to nougat via your thread. I moved to a different country and couldn't update, now I can because of you. These links are for people who don't want to download via mega or other links where you just pay for a larger file. All of the above links are from google, Dropbox or mega for small files. Odin is easier but links are hard to find for free safe download. I also expected people to back up before posing this and I kinda misguided them by saying it won't wipe. Sorry for any inconvienece caused

THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING SO BACK UP BEFORE HAND AND REMOVE ALL SECURITY LIKE FINGERPRINTS AND SCREEN LOCK
- Download your desired file
- Make sure you have adb and fastboot setup (If not there are many YouTube videos for mac or pc)
- Copy the downloaded file and paste it in the same folder as the adb and fastboot
- Open terminal or command prompt (Press shift and click on "Open using command prompt on pc")
- Go to settings on your phone -> about device-> click on build number 7 times to enable dev options-> enable adb debugging and accept the computer.
- type " adb devices" (pc) or "./adb devices" (Mac) to check if device is connected. You will get a code and it will say adb.
- Put phone into recovery by powering off and holding volume up, home button and power or just type adb reboot recovery in command prompt while on.
- Wait for android guy to go away and menu to pop up. Use volume keys and select adb sideload.
- now type = adb sideload "file name" and press enter. (PC) ./adb sideload "file name" (Mac).
- Wait for installation and it will reboot. (Enjoy)
For confusion free flashing, delete that used file from the directory and paste the next adb file for less confusion.

Is the file in the same folder as adb and fastboot? If yes, re download the file and try again or re install the drivers.

Would the update from PHA to PJ1 happen to include a non-corrupt version of the elusive PJ1 sboot.bin?
That would be amazing.

The furthest I've updated is to full PH4, I could actually OTA update all the way up. So to me I'm interested in OTA Packages.
Especially since no one apparently has a real copy of the PJ1 bootloader for some reason. Makes me feel like there is something special about it.
I'm not trying to update to anything past PJ1 right now, because we haven't figured a way to downgrade binary 4 to Binary 3 firmware yet. I can still attain root by being able to flash binary 2 firmware to my binary 3 device.

You need an officially signed update package and not a modified one if you're going to use stock recovery. Unless you want to help us decode the signature block embedded in the footer.
My device is non rooted, and yes, i tried the adb to flash from CPHA to CPJ1 and it said like that.. E: wrong etc... ouw i see.. maybe the CPJ1 is corrupted? I have tried it from 3 different secured sources, and all 3 came with the same problem..
Are you currently on the PHA build when you try to flash that update from PHA to PJ1?
Many people don't seem to get that is why I ask. Each updated build has a specific hash generated for it that the small OTA Packages use when they get to the point where applypatch, patches the on device files.
