[Q] Anyone using Q-Pair with ATT Galaxy S3? - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone using this combo, or another Q-Pair w/non LG phone, does the internet sharing work?

I use it on international s3 with no problem

Using it with galaxy note 2...

I used it and it told me the option wasn't available for my phone. I figured it wasn't though since AT&T wants you to pay extra for tethering.

Interesting, I wonder if it will still say that for share plan users.

It should since tethering happens on the phone level. You'd have to do something to your phone to work around Qpair(probably on the phone) for it to work.

Tether without rooting?

Is there a way to tether on a TMobile S3 without rooting the phone?
While the S3 is an awesome phone, not having tethering sucks. I travel alot and hate to pay for internet.
Please help. Would be used for an Vista Windows laptop and the Asus Transformer TF101 android tablet.
S3 has built in wifi hot spot, just pay t-mobile the tethering fee
why don't you want to root? It's pretty simple to do so, and the benefit is great.
Try foxfi some people say it works other say it doesn't.

Iv actually tried using foxfi but it's not on the market anymore but my bro has an s2 and he got it works perfect for him.
What's keeping you from rooting?

Last i checked wifi tether with Foxfi was unsupported for our phones. However bluetooth tether worked perfect for me stock unrooted. And I gta ask same question as above, why not just root? You bought a Samsung. Now show it.
Try going to http://foxfi.com/bin and side loading it.
If you go to the play store and look at the Fox fi add on app the site is listed in the description.

As long as you have T-mobile 5GB or more plan and it is not their new unlimited plan that is coming out in a few weeks you have free hotspot.

The Android Preferred Data plan (5gb for $20) doesn't have hotspot included. Just fyI.

I have 5GB for $20 per month and tethering is included so no rooting required - I thought hotpot is included as well but I've never tested it as I don't need it.

ClockworkMod Tether (no root) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEudGV0aGVyIl0.) worked for me. Note that this is USB cable tethering and you need to install a driver on the computer so it won't work on the tablet.

yeah, I use ClockworkMod also. Just make sure not use IE, but use Chrome with UA spoofer (android). When I try to use IE, i got redirected to tmo signup website.
Just tried FOXFI as evercleardoc suggested. It's not working. Maybe it's not compatible with Clcoworkmod?
WiFi Tether worked fine for me. I'm rooted; though.

Just got my EVO LTE, spent all day trying to root it for hotspot. Came across fox fi in the market and it works like a charm. The key is to go the play store and read the description. Tested it on netflix through my PS3. Was gone try BF3 but there was an update. So, I'm cool now til a new root method is found.

[Q] Tzone (upsell message) on Tmo Galaxy Note 2

Don't seem to find any discussion on this. For those of you (including myself) still have tzone grandfather plan, the upsell message popup. Any idea to get the tmobile note 2 works on tzone? Thanks

Unfortunately no, it happened to me too so I had to update my plan. If you want to use tzone with the note 2, you have to use it with the att or international note.

As an end user, thought that if tmobile can detect the "incomparable" plan. It must be in the rom or kernel.
Maybe someone with good knowledge can explain to the noob how this is done from tmobile end. Solution maybe possible?

Tmobile have all their phones imei number stored. If youre using their phone, they will know and make you upgrade the plan. If you use other carriers phone, tmobile cannot make up upgrade because they dont know what phone youre using.

that's why you either use chat function or, if you do call, stick the sim in a dummy phone.
the efs folder trick might still work (make backup first before doing anything)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997
haven't try this and not sure if it will work with note 2
so does the AT&T version with T-zones? Is it confirmed, do you get 3G speeds?
I should have read this before I bought my note 2...
is there a list anywhere that have phones that are compatible with tzones?

WiFi calling on T-Mobile

Has anyone found any information on if the T-Mobile version will come with the built-in WiFi calling feature. I know it has been added to the HTC one, wondering if the gs4 would get the same feature.

Yeah but know they skipped it with the nexus 4 so I didn't want to assume, but idk if someone had heard word about something I hadn't.
The only reason the nexus 4 didn't have it was because it's supposed to be pure Google without carrier interference I believe. The s4 should have it as it's a tmobile phone, not a Google phone sold by tmobile (if that's a good way to put it)
Yes, it has wifi calling. even says so on the website.

WiFi calling works on any plan, if the phone has it. I dunno about mobile hotspot, I tried to turn it on and got a "you have to have this service on your plan" message. I think it's a separate thing you have to pay for, which is all the more reason to root&install an app from the play store that does it.

Thanks for the info. Mobile hotspot is more important to me but it might be moot since I'm ordering an att S4 to unlock and work with my tmobile sim. If it doesn't I'll return it and get the tmobile S4.

Let me just say this. I am an UNLOCKED phone user. Always have been. BUT here is where I got tired of the BS with data speeds and such. SO I took the plunge to a TMO branded device with the proper bands in it now.
I suggest doing the same for everyone who is NOT international frequently. It is just a waste. I want the 64gb version, but without the proper bands? Not willing to do that to myself AGAIN.

Can you tether the internet to an iPad?

Does anyone who has the phone confirmed if you can tether the internet to the iPad, and will att detect it?
That is the only thing that stopping me from ordering this phone, because my i4s is jailbroke and I can tether on my iPad without att detecting it, I am on a a 2gb internet plan tho, and I don't want to pay extra to tether. Thank guys in advance.

My first Android phone is the Samsung Infuse 4g, I dumped it after a month for the reason that when I rooted it and tether on my iPad, att detected and sent me a message that I am tethering.
Now I wanted an Android because of the so boring iPhones, owning for so long, and it looks like a free toy on a box of serial now with those large android phones.

[Q] At&t options for tab s 8.4 phone???

im looking to upgrade my contract to at&t next today and need some advice on how to use the galaxy tab s lte as a phone either on my current account or add a line and use it ? also what do I need to do to use it as a phone??
they are offering a free tab with the next plan if I upgrade my phone.
I am currently running the" mobile share plan" with 10g for 110 a month with a note II, what would be the best way to go about this??
The AT&T version of this device does not work as a phone. AT&T has removed the hardware necessary to do this. The International LTE version of this tablet will work as a phone but does not support using AT&T LTE service so will only provide non-lte Data. It is a trade off one way or the other. You need to decide which is more important to you.
Where can I find the info on what hardware was removed?? Thank you for your answer.i have since got the t707a but I will return it lol .seems the t705 is the one that works as a phone .
Thanx again

No need to look for info on removed hardware, just look at the top of the tablet, you can't see the earpiece ( removed) and the proximity sensor ( removed ) making very difficult ( or impossible) to port the phone app from the SM-T705. So with that, at&t can charge you twice for data access, phone and tablet...
Why would you want to have the phone version and pay for voice/text/data instead of just using voip with data only?
Because at&t charges 10.00 a month for a line , and I would like to have the tab as my primary since im already paying for data
