Isn't there a option to mute it in the settings?

why not just change notification sounds?? you're not forced to use a single specific sound

Flashed the G2 zip and it worked fine. They pop up in your music lists and such also. Nothing like hitting shuffle and hearing that lol

Sound with screen on/off action

Is it possible to get a soundbyte to play everytime we turn the screen on and off? That would super awesome. I'd love it if i could get it to make it sound like a lightsaber turning on and off. Thats the nerd in me lol
Edit: Sorry, im running cm7 nightly.

Well if there's a soundbyte for locking and unlocking... There's half of it!... Kind of, if you lock your phone that is.
So maybe.
Has me curious now... it does have the option for the sound when you lock unlock... so is that sound byte replaceable?
It's /system/media/audio/ui/Lock.ogg
Seems like the same sound is used for both lock and unlock. You could try replacing it and see what happens.

At first guess, I'd say so, since the system is looking for that particular filename. When Google released Android, all the system sounds were in ogg format. It's a feature, not a bug.

there's actually a Lock.ogg and an Unlock.ogg that i've seen. i have tried replacing one with a .ogg sound file, but it doesn't hold. it still reverts back to the original sounds for me
I don't know if you've already found an answer but I got mine to play a sound when turning the screen on/off by installing Widgetlocker, one of the options it offers is to play a sound when locking/unlocking phone as well as when turning the screen on/off.
It has a lot more features that I use and love, but it is a Paid app and dont know if you want to buy it just for the sound option. Hope this helps!
Edit: It doesnt have an option to play a custom sound on the app, but you may be able to change it on the apk?? Just a thought, I've never tried it.
I just replaced the oggs in the ui folder in sounds.
idk about CM7 but it worked fine in CM6. Someone posted it a while back.
I've got Metal Gear Solid sounds for Lock/Unlock =)
Mind you don't forget to enable them in sound settings.

Why is it when someone post useful info that people can use someone comes and tells people not to do what was told or shown. I bet later somewhere we are gonna see you ask about sounds files and wish gave you insight on how to change sound files and where they are . Just learn and stop always commenting against what contributors say.

I'm not sure how you got that from my post. I was replying in regards to "the touch sound is little annoying hearing raindrops everywhere so i did the same method." I assumed that he didn't realize that the option to turn it off was there. What was wrong with saying that this step is not necessary? I was not being confrontational.

HOW TO: Disable Camera Shutter Sound (Root)

I was getting tired of hearing the camera shutter sound when taking photos, so I dug around the file system and found two audio files that are the shutter sound. I renamed these, rebooted, and everything is working great. Let me know if this does or doesn't work for you!
Before you get started, you need to be rooted for this method.
Step 1:
Use a root-capable file browser of your choice (I prefer SolidExplorer) and navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
Step 2:
Locate cam_snap_0.ogg and camera.click.ogg and rename the file extensions to .OLD, as seen below.
Step 3:
Reboot, then test
Alternatively, (non-root) you can set your phone to vibrate or silent mode and it wont make the shutter sound.

Not all of us keep our phone on silent all the time, and most of us don't want to think about turning the volume down every time we take a picture. If we never care to have the shutter sound, why not just disable it completely?
what does the .OLD do to the file? just out of curiosity.

It onyl changes the name. It does not affect the contents of the file in anyway. It will fail a HASH check though so revert it back in order to do an update to another OS if you are stock.

This was before Xposed came out for the G4, not everyone wants to use Xposed as it hurts battery life, and some people prefer the simple approach.

I understand. But xposed has such a negligible impact on battery as I doesn't matter. And the tweaksbox is as simple as it gets; one button disables the sound and can turn it back on.

thanks for this! for some reason Tasker doesn't recognize when the Camera is started so the Silent method is weak... and while G4 TweaksBox would be nice, I'm also having issues getting the unlocker to work. Emailed dev and am waiting for a response...
EDIT: looks like renaming doesn't work for me... interesting...
EDIT2: created silent versions of the two files and now... we have silence!

[MOD] Ascending Ringtones/alarms/etc fix

Hello, I have made this in the past for the moto x pure edition so I figured I'd share with this phone as well.
I have always hated the delayed ring tone noise for moto phones. Well, this will fix it. Just flash it and you are good to go. Should work with the g4 and g4 plus. Enjoy!

Why is this even necessary? You can disable ascending ring tone in the Sound Settings. Am I missing something?

Is it possible to do that also in OP5?

This is a Korean app. It is open source so you can inspect the code and build by yourself.
A good news is that Android P uses volume key for media volume by default.
