[Q] Phone periodically showing wrong time. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Every now and then my phone shows the wrong time. I have to reset it and it fixes, but it has become a nuisance because it will do it in the middle of the night and my alarm goes off.
The phone is stock with the latest update.
I've searched google and the forums to no avail. Maybe I've been using the wrong search words. Any help will be much appreciated.

Did you checked Settings-Date and time-Automatic date and time? Just try to set the date and time by yourself not automatic.

I had this problem back when I first got the Note 2 on both my wife and I's phones.
All I can say is, I hope it's as simple as the previous poster mentioned in your case because I spent a month tinkering with settings, letting Sprint techs do some tinkering themselves, and completely wiping and upgrading the ROM on one phone to no avail.
Good luck!
In the end, one phone suddenly started keeping time for no apparent reason and a month later the other one did as well. Huge pain since the time shifts are unpredictable.

I toggled the automatic setting but have not set the time manually.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to set it manually and see what happens.

It gets quiet annoy after a while. I tried disable the automatic update timezone in phone settings but every soft reset the check mark comes back there. Does any body knows the solution to this problem? Thanks

That is a ROM related issue, I eliminated with installing another ROM.
And donĀ“t forget to vote for Rhodium!
Is there any way to fix it from registry or it must need another rom?
well I tried several things ...

I've been having the same problem, tried the advanced config and that didn't work.
yeah I can't figure this one out
I'm having the same issue with the official 6.5 T-Mobile US ROM. It doesn't happen every time I soft-reboot, but it happens most times. Annoying.
I end up flash to a new rom to fix this..
I had the same problem, but just today I realized it wasn't happening, but I be it will start again. Anyway, this guy seemed to have fixed this issue:

Thank you for that link. The cab file posted seems to have done the trick. And thanks a million times to Warlock for making the discovery and creating the cab file.
Same thing for me. For a while it wouldnt even hold my time zone. Kept moving me back to Arizona. I used Advanced Config and restored all defaults. Still get the time zone prompt on every soft boot but atleast it keeps me in Colorado now.
\m/ just ran through the thread above. Used cab2 and no more nagging time zone! You the man thanks!
Looks a good fix, but I wonder if I happen to travel to a different time zone will this fix makes my phone stay with the original time or will time still update as usual?
I have found in general that screen goes away on its own giving enough time. Also if I'm in an open area (easier access to satellite for location info) it doesn't come back.
I am wondering the same thing here.

[Q] Alarm clock broken?

I seem to be having a problem with my Alarm Clock for some reason and can't figure out what is happening.
Last week I had to get up @ 7:25AM so I tapped the clock on the home screen, set one alarm to 7:25 and one to 7:30 so I would not oversleep. Worked flawlessly all week so no worries there. This week, I don't really need to get up since I'm off from work, so I went to the home screen, tapped the clock and not only slid both sliders to "Off" for the alarms, I also made all alarm-clocks show 0:00.
Surprise surprise; for 7 days straight, my phone is waking me @ 7:25AM and then again @ 7:30AM.
Looked up the registry setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Clock and check the 3 registry-keys for all 3 alarms. All seem to be set to NOT wake me at all.
Getting quite tired of this; anyone has any idea to how to solve?
What ROM?
Have you tried rebooting after you made the change?
WinMo is quite dumb at times.
Forgot to mention indeed but using the Energy-ROM.
Rebooted my phone both after changing the alarm-time and after changing/checking the registry. Both failed coz I woke up 7:25AM again today...

Sorry, I haven't used WinMo in ages. Random weird issues like this drove me batty. Android has gotten to the point where (for me) I can use it daily. Good luck.
You may just need to clear your notification queue. This has been a long running bug in WM since PPC 2003 was out. The simplest way by far is to use SK Tools. If you are a WM user who doesn't own this, then something is wrong with you!
The other, much longer, option is detailed by JVH3 in THIS POST.

Ditch WM .
Rebooting was obviously a bust...
Late update but it seems to have solved itself...
Well, not completely without a hitch; I started with cleaning out the registry. Then I disabled all push-updates to the phone (weather, mail, gps mapping and so on). Set all alarm-clocks to 0:00 and rebooted the device a few times. Next morning, the alarm went off again so I rebooted it again.
And ever since, not had this problem again... And yes, people saying to ditch WM, I might but in a month time I can get a new/free phone from my provider but unsure if I will go for Android or WM7.5.

I posted the known solutions a few posts back. SKTools is the simpler one of the two. If you can't get your hands on a copy of it, there was an alternative in that same post. All you have to do is clear your notification queue.

CM 7.1.0 problem

I'm hoping that someone can help me with my wifes phone. I recently flashed the "update-cm-7.1.0-Supersonic-signed" file and everything has been running fine. Well today she brings me the phone and had 2 things going...wrong. First the entire screen was strobe light flashing but a reboot fixed that. The other thing is that in the upper right hand there is constant, changing lines of text. They will say things along the lines of 2.54/2.25/xxx, under that system_server and then com.android.xxx. Will be anywhere from 3 lines to 6 and they change every 3 seconds. It's an HTC Evo 4g with running CM7.1.0 with the 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-01509-g8913be8 kernel.
I figure that I can always reflash but she's just got it set up and she doesn't really care for change lol. If anyone can try to help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Your comment on showing processing got me thinking and I finally found the problem. Somehow under developer settings, show running processes had gotten checked as well as show screen updates (I'm assuming that that was the strobe flashing as it did it again when I checked it). I unchecked it and all seems to be well again. Thanks for your time lreyes as I'm still learning how to work on unlocked phones.
BTW, can I change the forum location of this or does a mod have to do it. If it's a mod, would one of you be so kind as to either move or delete? I just really started using these forums and am trying to learn the ins and outs so please bear with me. Once again, thanks a lot.
Only mods can move/lock/delete

can anyone help ?
btw when I go to date & time if I uncheck automatic time, It gets corrected then I can check it back

permanently disable automatic time zone, and if u keep having issues, you could just disable automatic time. Won't really affect the phone any at all anyway

[Q] Weird WiFi Issue (Wont Turn On)

Hello all,
Its been a while since I had an issue with my phone but this one is really bothering me. Last week for no reason at all I noticed my WiFi was turned off while at work. When I tried to use the drop down widget to turn it back on it would just stay gray for like 5-10 seconds then go back to the off position. So I went into settings and tried to turn it on the long way and got the same result. This was troubling to me because I had made no changes to my phone that could have effected this. So after doing some digging around online and not finding any answers I contacted Samsung tech support who was terribly uninformed about their product and offered very little help with my problem. They suggested I go into the application manager and reset the application preferences. I was skeptical because I had spent a considerable amount of time disabling all the bloatware that was not needed in the past but I did take the advice of tech support and to my surprise it did get wifi working again.. temporarily that is.
Today I did the OTA 4.4.2 Kit Kat upgrade in hopes that it would fix my issue and to my shock and surprise it did. Wifi worked flawlessly for a few hours but then all the sudden earlier today it just shut off again without notice. Now once again, it will not turn back on no matter what I try. Im thinking this could potentially be a hardware issue. If it is then why after the upgrade to 4.4.2 did it work so well for a few hours?
Any help would be much appreciated as I have chewed through nearly all of my monthly data allocation while trying to find a working fix.
Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem. I upgraded to the KK 4.4.2 and now my WiFi won't turn on! I'm getting the Security notice that "Your phone's security has blocked an action that is not permitted. No further action is required." So, I went to the phone security tab to see what my settings were and it is set to Normal and the only other choice is High. So, I don't want to change that setting!
Both of you guys try flashing Ktoonz newest KK kernel for tw.. If that won't work there's also something to try to fix it in the OP, or you could also try that first

Right.. But other than that, the only other thing I can think of is to Odin the 4.4.2 firmware and see if that would fix it, if not then its likely a hardware problem
