Bluetooth keyboard that works? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

Has anyone for dinner a Bluetooth keyboard that works with Sammy? From reading other forums it appears that there are problems with the signal cutting in and out. I have the P605 model.

My Logitech Keyboard for Android works perfectly. Using it with an SM-P601.

I use the Logitech K810. I think its an issue with the individual tablets rather than the keyboards.

I have a Cygnett Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard. Small and cheap.

Anyone using a Microsoft Wedge? This is my current front-runner as I wait for my 10.1 2014 to arrive (supposedly it will arrive tomorrow... we shall see).
Edit: just delivered a day early! w00t!

In his thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526070, BarryH nails the problem as a fight between the internal and external keyboards. His solution worked for me.
I don't think it matters which keyboard you have, as long as the internal keyboard is disabled while the Bluetooth is connected.

I'm looking at these two:

Im actually using a usb otg keyboard case for generic 10 inch tablets. Works well. I can set the tablet inside like a stand and plug up with my Logitech wireless mac touchpad and basically use the thing like a laptop. Much more stable than bluetooth even if you don't have that glitch (I dont) Use external keyboard helper pro to map special functions to the keys. Mine is set so I can control brightness, sound, and open several applications all from the keyboard. VERY NICE!!

I like the azio one better, because the dimensions look like they fit better with the note. (i.e., they are approximately the same width at about 9.5"). I have one of the Logitech keyboards that have the pop-up stand (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/tablet-keyboard-ipad), and while the keyboard is much more sturdy and the build quality is excellent, it drives me up the wall that the keyboard is wider than the tablet, which makes it not as portable as I would like.
(For what it's worth, the Azio can be found on Amazon for about $32).

I use my Motorola Bluetooth Keyboard, which I bought for the Motorola Xoom a couple of years ago ... works like a charm ...
Beste Grüße von MoaB!

There was an announcement in November about an ASUS keyboard called the TransKeyboard, but no info on release date or price. Anyone have any info on this? Looks like it may be nice, built for android (and windows) with cover and stand.

I had a Transformer TF700T tablet and wasn't thrilled with that keyboard so I won't be buying another.

I just ordered a keyboard from Anker for 20€, which could be unique, as it uses two AAA batteries (about 2000mAh) instead of the typical sub-300mAh lithium battery. Will tell whether it works, when it arrives.

How is the case? Ive been eyeing this keyboard but not sure how I will like toating around a keyboard for classes and not having it built into the base. I keep going back to the Poetic removable keyboard case.

Its actually well built and the keyboard feels great. The case has a faux leather feel and the sliding stand is plastic. Decent viewing angle. It has some useful Android specific keys on there which help u navigate around. It's responsive, to the point where it doesnt lag behind while typing, but that point where u initially start typing, it takes 2 seconds to realize which keyboard ur typing with, internal or external

A little pricey at almost £50 but wanted a decent backlit keyboard & the size looks ideal.

The Anker Ultra Slim BT has anchored. I thought it were smaller, bu it has a fullsize layout, notebook-like look and feel. Would work flawlessly, if the Samsung keyboard would not kick Swiftkey, once the Anker is detected. I later have to restore Swiftkey as default kb. On my old tablet (with CM11) Swiftkey runs the external kb.

Im using the HP BT Keyboard... cheap and works flawless.... never disconnects....

Pros:
-It's a stand
-It's a keyboard
-It charges your Tab
Cons:
-Not that portable
-Can't use with a case on
-People say it messes up your screen protector
-Pricey
There are a lot of decent Bluetooth keyboards that work great with the 10.1. Pair one of these with a stand case and you can still come out cheaper than the dock alone.
best solution is to either wait for the Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard case [$160] (if you'd like to use the Honeycomb dedicated keys)

yep i believe so since it uses bluetooth, the media keys might even work also since its designed for an Honeycomb device !
Saw a video on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRRBm6l9wNk ) where it does something very annoying. The on screen keyboard keeps popping up, and he had to hit a key on the keyboard to get rid of it.
yea, it might have been fixed with the Touchwizz update ?!
who knows

sorry, I cant post it but u guys know what it is.
looks like a laptop like case, similar to what asus transformer has except prob BT connection instead of docking station to me. anyone knows about that case?
I have the keyboard dock (I also have the standard dock). I really like it and definitely feel it is worth buying.
Pros:
1. Nice keyboard + dedicated keys. Quality feel.
2. Nice relatively small dock.
3. Nice color, tablet looks nice in dock.
4. Creates a compact, space efficient, one piece workstation with tablet.
5. Allows you to use the tablet without having to hold it!!!!! Very convenient ... allowing you to do other things while you are using the tablet.
6. I have a Supertooth Bluetooth speaker system linked up with my Tab and the dock is a nice way to have the tablet available while it is streaming content the the Supertooth.
Cons:
1. Occasionally tablet needs to be rebooted because of problem. This is not frequent enough to be a problem for me.
2. I haven't checked it yet, but there are reports that if you are using an alternative tablet keyboard conflicts can cause more problems. I have temporarily stopped using Swype and my T9 custom software keyboards.
Summary, a very nice option to own.

did you just ignore post #3
its annoying for me since i own similar keyboard dock for my 7 tab.. and the on screen keyboard popping out all the time basically nullifies the advantages of the keyboard itself... and its quite heavy too.. i imagine its gonna be heavier on the 10.1 version.
anyway, aint worth it if you ask me.. and your stuck with the same layout too which is not optimized.. better buy bluetooth or just use the usb keyboard with the usb adapter.. much worthed i think.
Thanks for the reviews. I picked it up today. I haven't gotten to play on it much since I forgot to charge my tablet last night. I've still got to get my mouse to work with it. Doesn't seem to work with touchwiz.
I'm currently using a setup of Mac Bluetooth keyboard and the Akron tablet stand. I find this setup a lot better than the keyboard dock.

Looking for Mini Bluetooth Keyboard's...what do you use?

Hey, i have to android devices i would like to be able to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to it to type assays on the go with. I would like to keep it in a respectable price range while still having good connection, battery life, and build quality. In all $50 is my Max besides a full size keyboard...
Now my first choice was a full size keyboard...take a look:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...0d0bf86d2fen02
see for that keyboard i know i can trust that company in good build quality and good battery life, but with an $80 Price tag, its a bit much for a keyboard.
Next are some mini's off of Amazon.ca...take a look:
1. $15
Mini Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad/iPhone 4.0 OS/Android/Window Mobile/Symbian smartphone: Amazon.ca: Electronics
2. $20
DURAGADGET Miniature Bluetooth Tablet Keyboard For Apple iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 & ASUS EeePad Transformer: Amazon.ca: Electronics
3. $30
K10 Bluetooth Keyboard, ideal for iPad/iPad2, iPhone with Bluetooth, Playstation 3, mobile devices with Windows Mobile / Nokia Symbian OS: Amazon.ca: Electronics
4. $40
Hip Street HS-PBMINIKYBD Mini Bluetooth Keyboard for Playbook (Black): Amazon.ca: Electronics
5. $40
Mini Handheld Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard with Joystick Mouse Control 76 keys: Amazon.ca: Electronics
So those are some ( Top Five ) That i looked at and believe to be ok options, now if anyone has any experience with any of these , witch would you recommend...
Thanks
I have the keyboard with joystick control and love it. Typing is easy to do on it, once you set up the initial connected it takes just a flip of a switch to pair. The joystick is cool because sometimes you just feel like using a mouse, scrolling also becomes easier with the touch scrolling the keyboard has.
I have one of those mini bluetooth keyboards and its a PITA to use, the keys are very soft and not very easy to press.
I am also starting to look for a full size bluetooth keyboard, especially once ubuntu for android gets released as I will be using my phone as silent internet machine
sorry,, i even didn't use any bluetooth keyboard
I use this one

I picked up a used Microsoft 6000 from ebay for $25 (including shipping).
I first saw and felt the keys at my local Frys, and loved it. (Frys wanted $99)
Honestly though, the keyboard (and detatched 10-key) just sit in my backpack. I lug it around to work with me every day, and when I go out of town, but still haven't found a good excuse to actually use it.

What if we don't use the stock browser?
I'm looking to buy a small Bluetooth keyboard for my Thrive. Most of the Android-specific ones have hotkeys for popular apps like the browser, e-mail, etc.
One problem I found is that some of them will only work with the stock browser and stock e-mail app (or Gmail).
Does anyone know of a Bluetooth keyboard that has hotkeys that will launch the e-mail and browser of my choice? I use K9 for mail and Dolphin to browse, so stock-app hotkeys don't work for me.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Which I now wish I had left in the store. Great keyboard when it's working. Pairing it was a nightmare. No one should have to Google for hours because normal pairing we're used to just doesn't work.
Using this on my Epic Touch 4G & some bright kid in my house managed to unpair it. Once pairfed it's not like it has to be redone every time so since I forgot all I had to do, I spent hours looking for this info again.
NOW....for the life of me I cannot get this keyboard to connect with my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 which is supposed to have HID profile. It's paired but refuses to connect. Looking now at one of the minis.

Has anyone used a Bluetooth mouse successfully with the Note ?

Nice, I especially like the keyboard and mouse. What type of and how many batteries do they take? If you've had an opportunity to use them for a while, how long do the batteries for the keyboard and mouse last? Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm looking for a nice BT keyboard and mouse, Thanks for the post.
No problem bud.
The Keyboard and Mouse use AAAx2 each.
I've been using them pretty frequently for the last month and i've yet to have my batteries go out on me.
I'm using some rechargeable ones, I think they're 850 or 900 mAh a piece, so perhaps that's the reason for the longevity.
***One piece of advice***
If you are using an on screen keyboard other than the stock one, it'll force you back to the stock for BT keyboard use. Only problem with that is that you get tremendous lag, and any key that allows for additional characters automatically engages. So for example "e" would bring up all the additional accents and such, which kills your flow if you are a swift typer.
My solution was to gain root access and freeze the stock keyboard with Titanium Backup. I still get the notice to switch, but I'm not forced. Using the BT Keyboard with AOSP Android Keyboard yeilds the best results imho. No delay, no double entries, instant response.

This is awesome to see. I just purchased my note for classes starting in February because i didn't want to lug a heavy laptop plus books to school. Now i can have ebooks as well.
Question though. I rooted my note the day i got it but then was running into many force closes for things that got pretty annoying. So i UN rooted and went back to stock. Your saying the only way you could figure out your typing issues was to gain root access and freeze the stock keyboard app? Have you had any force closes? Did you flash a ROM or just gain root access?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I only rooted the stock ROM. As for force closes, I did get a few with polaris office, but I realized it was the due to the version it was running. I downgraded to a prior one and the FC's stopped. I'm on the fence about "fix permissions" options. Not terribly effective on my phone, but it seems to be doing well on my Note. Hope this helped.

Hey quick heads up, there's a keyboard in the playstore called null keyboard that you can set as your input which then eliminates the need to freeze.the android keyboard. It is just a dummy input with no actual keyboard.
This is great to know as well another option other than root.

How do you find the case so far? I am inclined to buying it but I tried the original samsung case and I am concerned that it does not protect the tablet on the corners very well.
Can you give us your opinion on it?
Thanks!
In my opinion, the case is pretty good. I share your concerns with the sides of the tablet though. I think in pretty rough with it, and I've yet to see a crack or any marring on the tab. That, and I always keep it in the pouch when in transit or not in use.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd post my setup in this thread. I've now got a new Zagg Flex BT keyboard, which has a standard key layout making typing much nicer; a Gearhead BT scrolling mouse, a RavPower RP WD01 battery-powered wireless hub with bridge mode (which I've reveiwed here in accessories--no need for OTG cables with this wonderful little unit); and I just received a very nice Clarion Monster HD BT stereo speaker as a gift. I'm very happy with my setup and it servers as a nice laptop replacement when I want to travel light.

Bluetooth keyboard not part of a case

I'm looking for a portable bluetooth keyboard that is not part of a case. My needs are something that is portable (folding or even rolling) to put in a briefcase but that gets decent reviews for really being able to type at a good clip on it.

I will back the suggestion up also. While it may not be as portable as a folding or soft keyboard, you will be able to type much faster and more accurately, while it will still take up little space. I ended up using a Microsoft Wedge keyboard, only because it was slightly smaller. While it is a good keyboard, I feel the Logitech is better.

Am I maybe doing something wrong?

I get no lag at all.
I don't have lag with my K810, but I have constant connection drops if I stop typing for one second. It's pretty much unusable. The keyboard has no issues with my iPad though.
I have the Logitech k920 and really like it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054L8N7M/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
the only problem is Samsung felt the need to put the usb port on the bottom, so it doesn't sit on the stand with the stock usb cable plugged in.

I just got the Logitech k920 also and I love it. But the biggest gripe I have is exactly the same as Colchiro, I hate that Samsung decided to put the charge port at the bottom of the unit cuz it doesn't coincide with the stand very well.
But still amazing product for only $40
I ordered a angle adapter for the bottom. It just came in yesterday and I'm out of town so haven't tried it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EJHH20/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00
Think I will be getting this one
this has the same layout as the keyboard dock for the 10.1 (2012) and the galaxy tabs

I picked up the Logitech 920 w/stand, shipped for only $35 from Amazon, and like it.

I've used mine a lot without any disconnects... until this morning ... when I started getting a disconnect whenever I would stop typing. I was using the Officesuite Pro app.
FYI, I rebooted the tablet and problem has not recurred.
I have the Logitech k920 and it's great !
