[Q] A little help is requested. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

So recently I got a Galaxy S3 SGH-1747 (AT&T) and I planned on putting straight talk service on it. I have everything set up but to use my mobile networking I have to set and ADN. To unlock my phone I have to downgrade to 4.1.1 (I'm using 4.1.2). I've tried googling the firmware, etc. The only link I have found for the download was from another thread on this forum and it limits the download to 50KB/s making the download take a very long time. If anyone could link me to a download that isn't limited that would be great. I appreciate all the help I can get and thanks for reading.

unless you want to pay for the premium service in most cases you are limited to the slow download, they used to use hotfile until the fascist government locked them down

JB and apps that use flash..

So I know that flash doesn't work on JB which is just retarded and honestly sucks because I used to hold it over my iFriends all the time. Also I know there is a work around to install flash player but it seems to only work on the default browser. The point being that I use Pulse and Cracked Lite pretty often and sometimes there are articles which have videos embedded in them (usually YouTube), with the absence of flash its impossible to view them. My question is how are people getting around this issue? I'm sure I'm not the only person who uses Pulse or Cracked and I'm sure there's other apps with the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really have much of a solution, but my first phone was a LG Optimus One which couldn't even run flash. So I was stoked when I got my Galaxy Nexus with Jellybean so that I could finally watch tv shows on my phone. Then I found it that it had no flash. So basically what I did was use stock browser (Since I installed flash anyways) to watch things with flash with stock browser and use Chrome/Opera/Dolphin for everything else. Eventually I got tired of doing that I just stuck with the stock browser and realised how much faster and smoother it is. Sorry that I couldn't really help you at all, but that how I get around my issue.
It is my understand ing, tar if you push the app, it will work

Google Field Trip (APK for non-US users)

I recently discovered this app, some of you have already have it. For those who haven't tried it, go try it, it's really cool.
From Google Play Store:
Field Trip is your guide to the cool, hidden, and unique things in the world around you. Field Trip runs in the background on your phone. When you get close to something interesting, it pops up a card with details about the location. No click is required. If you have a headset or bluetooth connected, it can even read the info to you.
Field Trip can help you learn about everything from local history to the latest and best places to shop, eat, and have fun. You select the local feeds you like and the information pops up on your phone automatically, as you walk next to those places.
Currently, it is only available for US users, so just go to Play Store to download this.
For non-US users, here is the APK.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/itbo9xxamq018hj/com.nianticproject.scout-1.apk
Would the apk work for non US users since I would assume the information is US based at the moment? I guess it would be cool if a trip was planned. I installed it and turned the notifications to low and I have only gotten one thing pop-up. Very interesting if you like history.

I tried this and it was a major battery hog for me on the tmo jb leak. Haven't tried it on the Sprint leak yet.

I just installed it (I'm in the UK), and scrolled on the map to London, and it shows loads of cards. So there definitely is information for outside the USA.
Edit: there doesn't seem to be much outside of London though.
Remember this app can track your every move it runs hidden in the background with no way to turn it off. And yes it is a battery hog..

[Q] Got S3, new to Android

Hi,
just got myself first, proper Android device.
My Lumia has been passed on to my spouse and I am trying to get familiar with the system and device.
As you can imagine, after using iPad and recently Lumia I do feel a bit lost and overwhelemd by the amount of options, menus and submenus
As right now I am trying to dig through tons of posts, pages here and on other sites. Not an easy task to get to the essential information.
Perhaps you can help me be hinting some shortcuts or giving straight through answers?
My S3 is not branded and unlocked but not rooted, runnind Android 4.1.1
1. How do I get Flash working in Chrome?
2. How do I get Market Enabler app on it?
All my tries and downloads has not been succesful so far
Congrats on getting a gs3!
But this is the sprint forums not the international. To get flash to work in chrome I think you have to be rooted and use root explorer to push adobe apk into the right folder and set permissions

Sorry , I did not notice the big SPRINT letters everywhere - let me run to the correct forum
Why didn't I get the Jelly Bean Update?
So, I rooted my phone a couple months ago. I have gotten 3 OTA updates since with no problem. However, I notice that my wife's un-rooted s3 is now running Jelly Bean. My son's s3 is running Jelly Bean. Why hasn't my s3 been updated as well. What do I need to do to get it up to date.

[Q] Newb to the TMoble S3 and trying to help bud with one

I have a VZW S3 and love it. I'm in the Coast Guard and a new buddy of mine has the T-Mobile version with the unlimited plan with the 5 gig cap before it slows down. He is definately not a crack flasher, like I am, so I'd like to either keep him at stock and remove the restriction (if it is possible) or give him an EXTREMELY stable TW rom. If he decided to get addicted then thats on him.
So my questions are as follows:
1. It's as easy to root this one as mine? Download a toolbox for TMobile and plug her in?
2. Is there a date retriction removal modification?
3. If he wants to try a different ROM what is the most stable ROM for the Tmobile variant.
Oh and on a side note does TMO limit the speed of tethering with the native installation? IE would it be faster to root and use wifi tether, or another app, as opposed to the native tethering on the stock ROM?
I'm going to search in the meanwhile, but I know there are some more knowledgeable people here that can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
I think the best way to tether is using a custom rom and as far as rooting,he need to get the odin file and use chain fire auto root through odin...it does everything for you...hope this help you out...
1. Odin is easiest and fastest way to root. Took me whole 23 seconds. Lol.
2. no idea since I never use it.
3. If your want stock looking clean simple and noob proved rom, go with infamous rom. If you want more customization, go with Darthstalker rom. Both are stable but you get more out of battery from infamous. There are also slimstock rom that stripped down version of stock with minimal apps and tweaks but had real good battery. Plenty more but you have to find what fit the device best. .hope this helps.

The TMo version is easier to root than the VZW one. You have to unlock that one's bootloader first. Not with the TMo version
I personally recommend you don't root the phone at all - leave it stock. If and when he decides he wants more from it (probably will be your doing ), then we can get into rooting it. But if he doesn't really care, no reason to void warranty. You would permanent tech support. Probably not the best move, just imo.

[Q] slide zoom help

Ive decided to move up to the world to 4.1.2.
Man there are some great roms.
Question, I know most hate it but hate if you must, I'll duck.
In the roms I ve looked at (I'll keep nameless, great roms just don't want them to think I am dissing their work), I have seen the disable edge zoom but never could get it to zoom by edge swipe to begin with. Am I missing something? I am a sicko I guess but I loved that feature. How do I get it to work? Is it totally disabled /removed or is there a download I can get to make it work? Been looking hard for an answer.
I think it was removed/disabled by sammy. Look in the browser settings to see if the option is there. If not you will probably need a modded version.
You could try swapping it for the 4.1.1 browser, but no guarantee it'll work.

Your right doc, it didn't work. Made a browser TIBU in 4.1.1. Installed a 4.1.2 rom tried to both restore over new one and delete new one and restore old one. Neither worked. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 that has it installed and actively working.

Slide / Edge Zoom Fix To Make Work
Attn Mods:
If this is in the wrong place or needs to be moved, please do as needed.
This is no my work nor do I take credit for it. scruffy4386 is the one who posted it in the sprint S3 section.
I have been looking everywhere for an answer. I finally found a fix, (for me anyway) that has my edge zoom back again. I am running 4.1.2 JB Stockorama Rom. It appears Samsung put this feature quietly in and removed it quietly so no one seems to be able to help or knows anything about it. You can read about it in the below link.
This was found in the sprint S3 section and I was so desperate for my edge zoom back that I decided to try it.
I cannot confirm that it will work for everyone but it worked for me.
See post Number 11, top of this page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43535000#post43535000
Please read as it explains a few things.
It will direct you to the download you need here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253747&highlight=edge+zoom
here is a flashable zip
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ae210csih4j1xn3
I used the zip file and flashed it with TWRP.
UPDATE: I fond that this stops wifi calling from working, there may also be an issue with wifi hotspot but cannot test to confirm.
If you don't need wifi calling you can accept the loss of that for the edge zoom capability.
Good Luck and hope this helps someone else.
