[Q] KNOX is blocking SuperSU even after root - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
Today I rooted the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105 on singapore 4.3 firmware. I followed the guide from here.
http://true-android.blogspot.sg/2013/11/root-n7105xxuemk5-galaxy-note-2-lte.html
I have done all those instructions perfectly.
But After root, when SuperSU runs, it stopped and KNOX message appears that "An attempt to access a secure area on your device without authorisation has been blocked........."
How to solve that problem?
Please guide me as xda developers always do.
Thanks,
Phyo Aung Khant.

What I did after rooting was installing a custom recovery and then installed root explorer and removed knox apps in system.

Seems it's the annoying knox apps kicking the root access's ass. Yeah do remove the knox apps. Or disable them.

You have to go to the Play Store and update Super SU from there,
Once you have updated it, run Super SU and disable Knox on prompt.

You need to remove knox from ur phone.. Use dr ketans multitool for removing konox.. This thread may help u.. :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2628420

Try flashing this cwm through PC Odin
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rxqufvjqh9wrtbd/philz_touch_5.15.0-n7100.tar.md5
Then try dr.ketan multitool v6 and deknox from aroma.
Or
Another way is to install titanium backup pro and freeze all knox related apps from system/app.
But I'm afraid, knox may block TB also, but you can give a try. You have to purchase TB pro, if you can't, google for a cracked/patched version.
Or
flash a knox free rom.
Best of luck.

[Q] root m919uvuemk2

on my first ever attempt to root a phone, i failed. It was on t-mobiles's GS4…. on update 4.3…..M919UVUEMK2….
I think i know what i did wrong. i used the instructions from on this page:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268880
which used version: M919UVUAMDL
when booting i received a message at the upper left of the screen: SEANDROID not enforcing( or something like it)
fortunately, i was able to restore my phone to M919UVUEMK2 via samsung kies. so, my device is working again. Albeit, with a voided warranty, but i still want to root it and install cyanogenmod.
is this still possible? any help would be greatly appreciated.:fingers-crossed: i'm sure there are others thinking the same thing.

Download and Odin flash CF-AutoRoot.
Here is the direct download link: http://download.chainfire.eu/328/CF...jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.zip?retrieve_file=1
After you flash cf-auto-root you will be rooted.
Be sure to flash either TWRP or CWM custom recovery after rooting.
Good luck!
Just use the cyanogemod installer from http://www.cyanogenmod.org/

Would this trigger Knox? cause i did the OTA Update without reading about it first which i should of done -__- i want to re-root my phone
To be honest I didn't check I assume so as in boot it says se not enforcing but I didn't check download mode. Using the CyanogenMod install is easy an install root an custom recovery for you. If you are worried about Knox just wait or search for the method to root without tripping Knox.

Haven't tried it yet but here a link which has step by step instructions on how to root SGH-T889 running android 4.3.
http://honai-android.blogspot.com/2013/12/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-t-mobile-sgh.html
Please Note: This method will most likely trip the KNOX/Warranty Bit counter so try it on your own risk.
Rooting is not the same on 4.3.

Yeah, I just ran chainfires method and something odd happened. I have superuser but I can't actually use it. That KNOX BS prevents it from running and issues a security warning that reads "Unauthorized access to a secure area has been blocked tap to learn more" .

In download mode it showed KNOX was tripped. 'Knox warranty void: 1" I ended up bricking it, which is all the same, I don't like KNOX bs anyway. I spun a good yarn to T-Mobile so I'll have another Note 2 tomorrow hopefully on something below 4.3 lol.

Sorry to hear that, can you elaborate how it got bricked ?
Did you try to downgrade ? Flashing it back to 4.3 worked for S3 phones.
I mean once you are on 4.3 you cannot flash back to an older version (4.1.x) easily. There must be a way via CWM or TWRP.
Some of us can use this information to NOT brick our phones.

So...I decided to take a chance and try to some things on my own, you know, show some initiative. I wont be doing that again and have gained even more respect for what you devs do. Here's the story. I tried to root the 4.3 using chainfires method, after being warned by psycho4us4 that it prolly wouldn't work. It did work, sort of... I had superuser and with root explorer was able to access system files. However, I could not alter or change any of the files. When I attempted to, the explorer would stop responding. It's also important to note I was never asked to grant SU permissions. That dialogue was replaced with the notification bar warning (apparently issued by KNOX) that an app was trying to access a restricted area of the device (lol) which I ignored. So now I have my Note II with SU and KNOX tripped showing warranty void 1 in the download mode So I'm thinking "Ok I'll flash back to MD1 with ODIN" Into download mode I go and start up ol ODIN I load the firmware and let it run. After going through the entire process it fails at the end. Now I have the Keis firmware failed screen....a brick.

I'm having trouble deciding which route I want to go. Don't know if I want to use the link with the Warranty Safe Root way(have already cooked the rom per it's directions) or if I want to go the cf-auto root way. I don't know anything about the vroot method. Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.
I thought I'd be clever too and do a factory reset from the phone and it hung on the tmo boot screen, but I ended up downloading the stock 4.3 tar file and ODIN back to 4.3 and it works again.
The Chainfire root way is definitely not the way to go as it does not work.
Going to try the vroot way to see if I can get root back.
With vroot download supersu before starting them make sure as soon as the phone boots up after rooting open supersu update binary and let it delete the other manager.

There isn't one. All links were removed from xda because some suspicion of the program as a virus. If you followed the link I posted you would see that. Now there are tons of positive reports and I used it. My antivirus didn't report it either. However, if you feel comfortable using it you will need to Google it

[Q] Root ??

Ive got the at&t 1317 4.3 done by OTA -- searched and searched -- couldn't find the latest root method for the 4.3 MK6. Can someone link me to the most current method for rooting this version with 4.3 mk6 software?
Cf-auto-root - thread is in original dev forum
Flash in Odin
Most current version here http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
If i317 - http://download.chainfire.eu/280/CF...uto-Root-t0lteatt-t0lteatt-samsungsghi317.zip
If i317m - http://download.chainfire.eu/279/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-t0ltecan-t0ltevl-sghi317m.zip
Otherwise, search first link for your phone.
After install, go to play store, update super su then run it. Update binary if asked using normal method. When asked if you want to disable Knox answer yes.
That's it.

Philz cwm or twrp - both can be found on the first page of the att note 2 original Dev forum. Or you can follow my sig to the i317 links.... My mk6 thread has links to the OPs of both.

Thanks for all the responses -- ive continued to read other threads and im 50/50 on wanting to root this phone seeing that its a chance it will work or not. if I get a successful root if I so decide to undo root that its a long complex process and not sure I would be able to do it.
Im only a month into my contract and seeing as to root is kinda easy but to achieve unroot is a long complex many step process and it still does not reset this KNOX counter incase for whatever reason I need to have warranty done , I am now very hesitant to root.

cf auto root should work for root. what did you use to root? if you are rooted install a custom recovery and flash a knoxfree rom from the dev section
Flash CF auto root via Odin then download latest superuser from play store and you are ready to go.

Just as a suggestion, something that happened to me while playing around with the phone: if you're running Stock rom and then flash a custom recovery via Odin (I used Philz Touch) upon booting on recovery just to wipe cache/dalvik I found something interesting: my phone wasn't rooted, so when chosing the option "reboot system now" a message that said something like "root is broken, would you like to root your phone before rebooting" appeared. I was curious, as I normally use a website called Kingo root that does it in a one-click kinda way. When I chose Yes in the recovery, upon booting my phone it was rooted. After, I just intalled Chainfire's SuperSU from the play store and it was all good.
It's worth trying I believe.

I have a question. If you don't run odin as a administrator do you get this error message: Windows cannot access the specific device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access. The last time I tried to root my phone i didn't run odin in administrator mode. I'm just finding out about this recently. I have all of the files installed on the computer and ready. Odin, recovery, keis, and supersu zip on sd card. Im just trying to figure out why I got that error message. The only answer that pops up in my mind would be that you weren't running Odin as an administrator, like you mentioned. Maybe try running Odin as an admin, or alternatively (and I haven't tried this myself but Chainfire's thread gives a good step-by-step and people in the forum do help) use mobile Odin ------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899. The first time I wanted to root my phone I was having issues too, not being able to do it because of lack of experience. I stumbled upon this website: http://www.kingoapp.com/. Check it out, if you would like. This kingo app is a downloadle app (kind of like Odin) that Roots yourm phone alone, without needing to flash anything. The step-by-step's are there, just turn on your developer options and then turn on USB debugging. I personally rooted A Galaxy Tab, SIII, a Note I i717 and an Asus MemoPad with that website and it worked perfectly for me. Rooting via custom recovery is something that I learned recently, and by chance. I do not know whether it trips the Knox counter or not to be honest with you, to me it doesn't make a difference since I will not be returning any of the devices I rooted, After rooting the phone like so you could potentially download mobile Odin from Chainfire's thread and then use Odin without needing to use your computer.
Hope this helps

Yeah that was it, i rooted it earlier today. I do have another question for you. I ran root checker pro and it says I'm rooted. I tried to install busybox but it said remove supersu permissions reinstall supersu and to delete and reinstall busybox. Also the adb shell doesn't have root access either. So is that a common occurrence, or is it the norm after rooting and installing custom recovery? Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance...

Sorry for the late reply, hadn't been to the forum in a minute. To be honest with u, I don't know for sure. I haven't personally yet served myself from adb so I can't tell u. However, the reason why you received that response from busybox may be because when u were partially rooted it gained root access (if it ever did, I only assume).
Try what was asked of u and I'm sure busybox will work no problems. Also, if u have the terminal emulator apk try entering the command "root" (without the ") and if u gain roots access it will definitely mean you are rooted for sure.
What do you want to use adb for, if I may ask?

This is my first ever post on XDA however i had learnt alot from here but now i am stuck with a problem.i had a galaxy note 2 n7100.Accidently i already had triggered the knox.KNOX counter shows 1 in bootloader.I am on 4.3 XXUEMk9 . Now i want to deknox and root my phone.i tried alot of methods but failed.I want to stay on my stock rom i.e 4.3 Mk9 for now.
1 .I tried to install XXUEMJ5 but failed.
2. I tried Dr ketan Tool but when i click aroma manager it goes back to recovery main page.i think knox is preventing it to access files.
All your help will be appreciated.

you said that you want a deodexed rom, than just flash a custom recovery (twrp or philz) with odin than flash a deodexed & rooted stock rom
2 - root using cf-auto-root

Thanx for your suggestion,
First thing i dont want to flash a new rom as i dont wana loose all my apps along with their data so i want to stay on the same rom.
2ndly now i somehow manage to root the same stock rom with Dr.Ketan multi tool v 6 but there is still a problem that after 2-3 reboots my note 2 automatically reverts back to unrooted state and i need to root again.I dont understand why this is happening or may be some app is reverting it back to unrooted state.
If any1 have solution for this than kindly explain it.
