PS3 Controller and Modern Combat 4 - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iF_jMoLSYR0 shows someone connecting his PS3 controller to his Note using an OTG cable and playing MC4.
I use SixAxis on my S4 so I can connect to my PS3 controller using bluetooth and that works well but requires root, which, frustratingly, I don't have on my Note so I tried doing what the poster of the video did. Everything worked except for sprinting and this means I cannot even get to the first checkpoint.
I tried two different PS3 controllers with separate USB cables and separate OTG cables and exactly the same thing happened with both so I'm reasonably confident that this isn't a hardware issue (although neither OTG cable is an official Samsung one). Also, both controllers work perfectly on my S4 using SixAxis.
Has anyone else tried doing this and if so, what was your experience? The poster of the video clearly got sprinting working out of the box so I would love to know why this isn't working for me.

Double tap the left stick up. Two times up fast, this is sprint.

Excellent, thank you. It may take me a while to get used to that after years of COD and pressing L3 to sprint but I don't believe there is any way to remap the buttons so I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I have now realised that I don't know how to crouch either. I don't suppose you know how to do that as well do you?

You could go into the file that controls mapping for the past controller and try to edit it. I'd how your results would be thouugh

I would be pleased to find out that there are. I prefer playing wirelessly but I could live with using the OTG cable as long as I could get all the controls working somehow.

Does anyone know if you can use the PS3 controller wireless ? or can it only be used with the USB OTG connection?

I haven't tried it myself but I believe that the answer is yes as I said in the OP. The trouble is that you need root which, due to the stupid Knox fuse, I do not have on my Note.
I also have an S4 and a Xoom. On both of those my PS3 controller works really well.

Game controller

Has anybody found any kind of game controller that will pair with the captivate?
I've tried all the wiimote apps in the market, and the only one that seems to do anything is simplewiicontroller. I can get my phone to recognize it, but every time I try to pair, it asks for a pin number. At this point any controller at all would be awesome.

also for the pin did you try 1111 or 9999 . those are standard bt pins for no input devices, such as headsets

Yeah tried 0000, 1111, 1234, 9999, 4321, abcd. Nothing works, always says incorrect pin. I thought the reason why you couldn't use the wiimote with samsung, is because the cappy b/t couldn't detect the older versions of bluetooth. But mine clearly picks it up.

i havent heard on anyone getting a wii mote to work on a galaxy s. something withthe bluetooth stack and no source code. notice the nexus s has bluetooth 2.1 and the galaxy s has bluetooth 3.0. people have compiled in different bluetooth stacks but come back to the samsung one because of "problems" im not sure what the problems are but no custom roms have the other bluetooth stacks that i know of.
let us know if you get that app working though. it would be really cool.
now we just need to figure out how to get the native resolution out of the captivate to a tv other than dlna. composite video just wont cut it on todays bigger panels and the picture is distorted because you are pushing more res than the cable can handle. if we can get something out via usb even if we need an external converter of some kind like in a dock or something this phone would be way better.
now i fear the infuse will divert samsung from focussing on accessories for this phone.

I'm not going to root phone, and waste my time trying to find a stable/glitch free rom. Done it before, each one has it's perks and flaws, all what your willing to live with.
I have no problem installing 3rd party apps, I'm not sure what you're referring to with this.
All that I'm looking for is a wireless controller, as it is I can already play video games on a tv, it's just wired, and you can't feel where the buttons are.

[Q] Wired Xbox 360 Controller not working with USB OTG cable

Hi,
My phone doesn't detect my Wired Xbox 360 Controller via the USB OTG cable. The cable is working normally, tried with a mouse and keyboard.
The lights just keep flashing on my controller and it doesn't respond to button presses. I was under the impression this controller should work natively with Jelly Bean, without any configuring, as I've seen many guides to just plug and play.
Am I doing something wrong or do other people have the same issue?
I thought I was the only one who wanted to do this... unfortunately support needs to be added in the kernel I believe, and in the appropriate .kl file. I have not tried just modifying the .kl yet, as I got a moga.
even ive purchased a og usb otg cable 4 the same reason & also 2 use external hdd drives but the controller behaves the same 4 me & abt the hdd thing is still unknown.

Yes it does work with it on Bluetooth if you are rooted. here is the link for the GameKlip™ - Universal CaseMount http://buy.thegameklip.com/products/gameklip-casemount. As long as you have a case to mount too it.
Guys i have a G3 and i tried to hook a ps3 controller to it but either the phone or the controller wont read eachother cause it never lights up with an OTG cable ive tried 2 different controllers and still the same result and yes my G3 is rooted cause i knew i may need root but it never reads the controller please help

[Q] Dualshock 3 USB-support.

I can't seem to get the Dual shock 3 (PS3 controller) to work wired with my device. It works without problems on my brother's Nexus 5. Wirelessly using the sixaxis controller app it works without problems, but through an OTG cable it doesn't. Is the device not supported? Is there any known way to add support to a ROM?
Cheers
Why not using the gamepad with Bluetooth...if it works use it with that instead of breaking your head because wired it doesn't work

The only reason I can think of is the idea it would use less battery but I don't see that being true.
Because I want to use it with gamestream and since Bluetooth and WiFi uses the same antenna it interferes and gives me lag.

No you can use the app without Bluetooth ... You can use it even if you connected the ps3 controller wired ...Normally it should work ... Also if it's connected wired look in keyboard settings if the pad is mentioned there.
And in sixaxis app you also need to enable the option that the pad like the native gamepad

If you go into the settings inside the sixaxis app you can enable that the pad will be saw by system as native gamepad...try that also ...if not it could be that your otg cable doesn't work good with the gamepad...mine works really fine without problems ...only some games aren't able to be played with this controller
That's strange because M8 supports X360 controller natively

The dualshock 4 controller works natively on the m8 wired.
You can use it scroll through the screens and select apps. Not all games work, minecraft being one, but a lot do.
The buttons can be a bit odd though. For example in goat simulator, the options button is headbutt. Quite frustrating.
Does anybody know if there is there anyway of remapping the buttons?

[Q] Sixaxis with Tab S

Hi everyone,
I've searched all over but can't find the answer. I've used the sixaxis app on many devices before. It doesn't seem to work on the tab s, and I believe it is because newer Samsung devices are missing a certain Bluetooth protocol.
My goal is to connect two PS3 controllers to the Tab S to play emulated games (nes, snes n64,etc.)
Does anyone have any information on how to get it working? Thanks!

I tried all the tricks I know, to no avail, it's really hard to make it work, unless you're willing to do it 'oldschool' style, wired via OTG.
we managed to do this in samsung tab 3 before, 2 PS3 controllers for 2 player fighting games, dunno, seems like we have bluetooth compatibility issues as the PS3 bluetooth is already outdated.
let's here other chime in

Im using 2 official controllers here, one that came with the ps3 that I used on my tab 7.7 with no issues (bluetooth) . And another aftermarker pink controller that I also used with no issues with tab 7.7. Only thing devious and I have in common might be our custom rom which he compiled

I'm having the same issue in my rooted Tab s 10.5. I changed the master to my tablet, then the tablet never sees the controller. Any luck?
Uhhh. Dunno what I did but.. it worked.
Heres what I remembered.
Uninstalled sixaxis.
Downloaded compatibility checker and run
-hooked up my controller via otg and manually typed my bluetooth MAC
Installed Sixaxis
-tried pairing via OTG. Disconnect cable and tried pairing via BT: unsuccessful
*frustrated*
Killed app compatibility checker
Killed app sixaxis
Reopened sixaxis
Clicked change IME - list of keyboard appeared. Tapped sixaxis
Clicked start. It connected.
Mine is :
1. Have a DS3 controller
2. Have a cable and OTG
3. Connect DS3 via OTG
4. Open sixaxis controller app ( v0.7.4)
5. Tap PAIR
6. Disconnect the controller
7. Change IME
8. Tap Start and connect with DS3
9. Done

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback! I am trying very hard to replicate the steps, but I still can't get past the "Listening for controllers" status.
Can anyone please delete all of the six axis settings, and post detailed step by steps from scratch?
Also, I noticed my bluetooth button isn't lit up (indicating that it is on) when I start Sixaxis. And when I try to turn it on, it doesn't.
Thanks for your help!!

Wait, you guys are right.... it is totally random, but I got it working! This time, I did retype the bluetooth address manually and clicked pair (even though it looked the same). Then, it still didn't work. Then I tried it with my regular swiftkey input, and it connected! Then I switched it to six axis.
This was the reason I bought the tablet, so THANK YOU guys for the help (even though we are still kind of puzzled )
I got another simpler method that works, so far so good,
-Force close all sixaxis apps (compatibility checker and sixaxis)
-at the back of the controller, there's a reset button, insert anything small enough and reset it
-connect the controller to your device via OTG
-run sixaxis controller app
-tap pair, then tap pair (the one on pop up)[ensure the bluetooth address is correct]
-disconnect OTG
-turn the controller on
-tap Start.
and there you have it.
edit:
and it will not work again as soon as you paired your device to your Samsung Gear LOL..
what you need to do, after using your Samsung Gear, disconnect it, reboot your device and follow the instructions above, it will sync once again

I was about to edit my post for the nth time LOl. Sad to say. I does not work again. I was simply lucky that I managed to do it 3 times in a row. Now. It simply doesnt pair. Could be something messing with the bluetooth becuase once you get it to pair initially. Even if you reboot, it would still pair. But once you connect your device to another bluetooth device such as headset/gear. BT will forget the sixaxis profile and you'll have trouble syncing it again. I'm close to giving up. I'm simply using it with USB OTG just to satisfy my game-cravings. Hope the others who got it working chime in once again if they manage to pair it all the time.
