Note 8.0 as a gaming tablet? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

With the quad core processor and 2 gigs of ram it seems to hold up pretty good as a dedicated gaming tablet. What do you all think of the gaming potential of this little machine?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

I played all HD games that exist in play store!
All games played excellent on high graphic
GTA SA
Call of duty
Fifa 14
Anomaly 2
Backstab
MC 4

try ppsspp and play almost all your old psp games.so if it runs like a psp that's basically a portable gaming console...at least for me...even plays at higher resolutions....connect a joypad...but I try to keep gaming to a minimum...as in most lithium batteries, it will really push out the charge cycles and the battery is not replacable...still excellent bat life for me at least....

I think it's one of the best tablets on the market.

This! All Games i have are Smooth to play without laggs or something similar.
Games i tested:
GTA: San Andreas
GTA: Vice City
Ravensword2
NOVA 3
Order & Chaos
and a bunch of games like Final Fantasy (3 - 5), EKO online, Iruna Online, world of goo etc
All this Games are playable on the highest settings.

Its one of the higher spec tablets (if not the highest spec tablet in the "smaller" 7 to 8" form factor), so obviously its going to hold its own with games for some time to come.

Tablet is great, but the battery should be better.

galaxy note 3 not seen as a tablet on playstore?
So being the proud owner of samsung galaxy S3 I found my self jealous of my friend being able to play Magic the gathering duels of the planeswalkers 2014 on his samsung galaxy tab 7 everywhere i read that the game is only compatible in tablets and thought hey I can do the same so purchased the slightly larger screen and better spec Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet on craigslist brand new, quickly destroyed the box and jumped to the play store ready to get my beast on! And surprice surprice! "Your device is not compatible" irritating would be how I would describe my current status if some one can shed some light as of how to over come this aweful situation im not trying to illegally obtain the game I want to pay for it and play it be able to get addons and updates please help and thanks in advance.

I think you can unlock all apps/games in the app store (even those that are not compatible with your device) by installing xposed framework and the appropriate module using wanam xposed or xblast from the play store. Not 100% sure but worth a look unless someone else can shed some light or suggest something else.

Games on the Galaxy Nexus [VIDEO]

It handles quite good and the phone didn't get that hot.
Hah.. It's not about me it's about you and showing you these games.

looks smooth - well impressed
now get a list of the best games and apps together
really really good
All I'm worried about is that the next gen games won't work well with the Galaxy Nexus. These games look great, but with Apple and other companies (e.g Samsung) pushing mobile gaming, and the new mobile GPU's that are coming out, ours is already obsoleted and probably won't be good enough to play a lot of games in the future

From what I've seen, gaming on the "higher end" phones simply just add useless eye candy and don't effect overall game play at all. I love eye candy, don't get me wrong, but I don't fear that we'll be left out in the cold.
With Quad-Core not even out yet, I don't think we'll be seeing anything that requires a "Quad-Core or higher" for a long time.
I also just noticed how the software buttons rotate depending on orientation. Life's simple joy!
Forgive me for not being so knowledgeable on technology, but I would be mistaken in thinking that even if Quad-Core is released, most phones won't even be able to utilise it properly for a good year or two? And by the time they are put to good use, all our Galaxy Nexus contracts will be up and we'll be eligible for an upgrade and we'll be hopping on the newest Nexus?
So quad-core doesn't even matter for a while even if they are being released next year?
Back on topic the phone looks insanely smooth, even when you had all them games open it was silky! I'm loving it a lot, getting it tomorrow
could you test the kairosoft games? like game dev story and the others?
on honeycomb if you used mulittouch zooming all their apps crashed. kinda worried it may be the same with the GNex.
The screen is good but until the games are updated 'proper' we will not know how good performance can really be.
The screen is really good.
I read on another thread that Gameloft games will not work on the Nexus, is that true?
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the video and he plays 9mm

Exactly my thoughts. For example on mine Plants v. Zombies looks great and works great for a few minutes, then freezes when under heavy load (i.e. "Final Wave" pushes). It can't be the GPU or memory issues because other (just as graphically heavy- if not more so) games (like Tiki Golf 2) are perfect.
I just want to clarify how good that first game is?
Check out the Verge's Transformer Prime review http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2601558/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review
They play the game and attach it to a 52" HD screen!

Is is smart to buy now a Xperia play?

Hello i've got a question?...
I have now a htc wildfire and it is time to buy an new one I like gaming on mobiles, So my decision is buying a Xperia Play for its WONDERFULL keypad and mainly for it's price(i have a limited amount of money for a phone) ,but is it good for era 2012-2013 gaming? like modern combat 4 and Grand Theft Auto® Vice city 10th year anniversery and maybe other wonderfull games. and is the resulotion also good, i've got optimus 2x in thaughts but i read it breaks too fast and battery sucks
please give me some advice
Cheers :victory:
Yep.
But might not be the best choice for games in 2013 or 2014.
It's a good phone but without overcloing or good optimized games, I don't think that it is highly recommendable to buy it for that purpose you have of playing 2013 and 2014 games on it.
But if you can get it cheap why don't try it?
^Yeah, forget to state that its also really cheap.
Get it, it's a good phone. It's not as generic looking as the others.
Are there maybe other phones that are cheap and can run these games
How much are you looking to spend?
Used Galaxy Nexus are going cheap right now.

The current games aren't running as smoothly as they should. I do not intend to sound pessimistic, but I doubt games in '13 or '14 will run smoothly, if the world still exists by then.
No it isn't. Anybody telling you to buy the phone is either a gaming enthusiast or really loves the phone. The phone has been long abondoned by Sony, so no updates. It is also really underpowered and lag becomes apparent unless you've overclocked. However, compare it to even the SGS2 which was released around the same time and this phone is still not smooth. There are people using this device as a pure android gaming device now and many including developers have bought new devices. As well as this, the phone is thick which can be an annoyance at times. Before anybody says my phone is not setup properly, I am running .62 stock, debloated, overclocked.
EDIT- The battery sucks as well.

I just bought a Galaxy Nexus for $200, so you just have to look. Its not as fast as the S3in term of gaming, but yhe software is better on a whole due to being stock Android and you can run a kernel to overclock the GPU.

I have both these phones and I can tell you my Play outperforms my 2X in everything.
My 2X isn't rooted/custom whereas my Play is, but it's no excuse for it to perform as badly as it does. You're also tied down to Android 2.3 on the 2X as there is a problem with video accelleration in ICS/JB... Something to do with Nivvy not releasing proper libs or something.. Not sure.
But yeah, Play all the way.
Not to mention, all those emulators and vintage games you can now play again on a handheld device... The play is around £100 off ebay these days, for that kind of price you simply can't say no! Especially when all these developers are working so hard to make the Play so much better than Sony ever could..
What about xperia U , P, Arc S, Ray, neo V
The play is a wonderful phone but now day graphics are a little much for it now unless you O/C and everything else but I would suggest you get like the RAZR M with a. 2Ghz processor but single core, but the play is just out of date and I suggest you get a better phone... but I love my play

A phone, with a genuine gamepad, that can emulate everything up to and including N64 and Playstation,
That will NEVER get old for me.
Screw new games.
For older games, it's the best thing you can buy. But most newer games and even some games from last year will lag or not have the same graphics as a higher end device. If you care about how your games look, then don't get this. Another thing is, the single core 1 GHZ processor is really slow, even with OC. A newer dual core or quad core device will be a much better experience when it comes to thing like web browsing and general things you would do on a phone as well as running games very fast. Multi-tasking is not good on this phone on any ROM other than stock. It has a very low amount of ram. My minimum specs for an Android phone after this will be dual core and 1 gb of RAM. Single core phones make android look bad imo.

Tegra 3 graphics

Hey everyone. I'm a current iphone user and want to switch completely to android. I've messed around a little with it in the past. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the Note 2 can play games in ultra high graphics mode for games like Dead Trigger and Riptide GP. I love this phone but I am an avid mobile gamer and this is a big deal to me. If not is there a way to enable these settings like the Tegra 3 devices have. Thank you!
This phone has a far more capable GPU than the Tegra line, but nVidia money is greener than ours, so developers only enable those graphics on Tegra devices. Chainfire3D may or may not work with the Note II - you should find the thread for it over in Android General and ask.

Im a former long term iphone user and im telling you note 2 eats iphone for breakfast and jelly bean is light years ahead of ios
I have Transformer Prime (tegra 3) and Note 2 and for sure the Note 2 is a beast. Games like Dark Knight, Spiderman etc just run a LOT smoother on the Note 2. Is nice to have Tegra 3 for the occasional Tegra only game but i wouldnt sweat it too much.
Does the Note 2 play games at the same level as a Tegra 3 processor phone?

Define same level because I just said about it destroys my prime so no sure what you mean. If you mean all the special effects, that is not something we control but Nvidia and the game devs blocking features that the Mali can easily run.
Like there was a hack for Dead Trigger that allowed you turn on all effects before for example.
Yes I was referring to all of the special effects. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I knew about that hack but I wasn't sure if there was a complete solution out for that, like chainfire for example but I know that chainfire doesn't work on jellybean.
Nothing really that I know off and and I never liked Chainfire as it seemed to always messed something up..at least it did for me on Captivate and Note.

If you are an avid mobile gamer are you sure android is the right fit for you? All the games are on iphone and only some make their way to android. If you do want android then get a tegra phone like one x as that will give you better graphics games that are just for nvidia but it's slim pickings so far for amount of nvidia games available.

When was the last time you checked the market mate?
Sent from the Mighty Note 2!
I check it daily and yes I like the note 2 big time but all the games come out for iphone first and some like game loft release it for android a week or two later however many other developers never release for android. There are so many games for iphone its not even funny it beats android by miles. I can give you many examples of games on iphone that are not out on android. I hope this changes soon and android is getting better but not close to iphone for games. Android has better productivity and business apps however.

I know with Dead Trigger there is some sort of cfg file you can modify to enable the extra tegra graphic settings.. i cant remember where i read about it though. i think it was in the at&t gs2 forums. If i come across it ill post it up. I know it was a simple fix and im will to bet other game probably have a similar fix.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5" Exynos vs Snapdragon Performance?

Hello, I'm thinking about buying a Galaxy Tab S 10.5", I don't need LTE on my tablet but I don't want a laggy tablet on games like Dead Trigger 2, Real Racing 3, Need for Speed..
Is the snapdragon 800 version better for gaming/performance?
I can't decide between Galaxy Tab S or Nexus 9 for school /: + Casual gaming.
Thanks in advance!
Also! Which one do you guys consider a better tablet, Galaxy Tab S or Galaxy Note Pro 12.2?
Bump -----
The tab s will get you 8 hours of on screen time. No lag during gameplay but only at loading screens idk about note pro.

i have just yesterday went to a seller, whose add for Pro 12.2 i saw yesterday. i checked the tab, and i was no convinced! its TOO big! its like those old laptops with huge screens. it FEELS quite heavy and makes it more usable for showing stuff to others, like more than 3 people. i mean that about screen size. its too bright, for night use as well. it would kinda lite up the room ur in at night. almost IMPOSSIBLE for one hand use and its thicker than Tab S. for comparison, LTE Pro 12.2 is 753Grams whereas, LTE Tab S 10.5 467Grams. its 268Gb lighter, the Tab S! also noticeably thinner at 6.6mm where Pro 12.2 is 8mm thick.
and honestly if u need it for school, the thinner and lighter it is the better. i would suggest Tab S 10.5 any day.

Have you considered the Nvidia shield? It's 8 inches but graphics performance is excellent and it got updated to Lolipop. For 10 inch tablets IMO the Samsung is the best out there.

Dont get the Nexus 9 yet, I exchange mine for the tab s 10.5 since Best Buy has the holiday sale for $399 but so far many apps arent optimized for the Nexus 9. I played some games on this tablet. its a bit laggy only on asphalt 8 but everything else is buttery smooth. I suggest put google launcher and google keyboard, it becomes a Nexus device in no time. It has a few updates that has stability issues so everything is good so far. Just hope Samsung does update it to lollipop. Samsung has a bad track record in updating tablets very late.

I have used the entire of the 2014 galaxy tab and note tablet line. The note 12.2 is an enormous device. As someone stated earlier, it is like having a laptop with you. IMO if you like a 10" tablet, and don't mind the functionality of an S-pen, the Galaxy Note 10.1" (2014 edition) is very close in hardware specifications, to the Galaxy Tab S 10.5.
The Note is 299 ppi vs 288 ppi on the Tab S. Battery for the Note is 8220mAh where the Tab is 7990mAh. They both have the exact same camera, 8pm, with a 2mp front camera. Wifi, Bluetooth and USB are all exactly the same. Dual band AC wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0.
The Note however is a Snapdragon processor, meaning if you wanted to root or install a customer rom, there is a greater chance of developer support over the Tab S.
I hope this helps. Anymore questions, just shoot me a message.

I would recommend the LG GPAD 3 or GPAD X. Better specs and display. It will be better for gaming. No root or even unlocked bootloader though. I returned this tablet. It's a bit laggy and display is pretty low quality.

it is still good for games i play every new game no lag on custom rom ,needed new battery i would invest so much in another tablet just for games unless it`s ipad in fall
unless u have money for a 3gb ram tablet like samsung tab S3 ,your limitations will be the ram these days the games takes a lot of ram it`s 64bit cpu though besides that play store from 2018 will be 64 bit apps exclusive like ios so need minimum 3gb ram in future good luck
