If I upgrade will I still be able to Root?

Hi
I'm currently on 4.03. (1.29.707.11) It is stock as I got it from the shop.
The new update 2.17.707.3 which also updates to 4.04 is showing as available to download.
I will want to root this phone later (but not yet) is it safe for me to update or will I lose the ability to root this phone?
I did search, but found some conflicting answers, any help would be cool.
Thanks in advance.
I updated to 2.17.707.3 and still able to root.
Just run the whole process of BL unlock and rooting again.
Yeah , you can still root after you update . No worries

it wont help u sort your wifi and signal problem .. when u unroot problem will presist.. rooting doesnt mean it fcuk up your phone .. it only disable restrictions .. it is like u have firewall on your laptop at home in windows m ?
if u STILL want unroot just flash latest ROM it will unroot your p6

A bold statement, very much depends on why the phone was rooted & what's been done to it while rooted. What's been installed, what settings have been fiddled with in build.prop?
Try installing firmware B122, then factory reset and start afresh....

[Q] Can I downgrade to remove knox?

Hi
Earlier this week, I received a notification saying that a new official Samsung update (4.2.2) was downloaded and needed to be installed.
After installing I realized that 4 Knox applications were added to the App list, and there were more counters listed in downloading mode.
Is it possible to downgrade back to the 4.2.2 that came with the phone to remove Knox?
It came with I9190XXUAMF7, and now it is on I9190XXUBNA1.
Thanks in advance

no ..and btw you should have been more careful about that .. u didnt have knox bootloader now u have ... if u flash any other bootloader or rom before BNA1 ur system will crash u cant downgrade ..also knox when turned from 0x0 to 0x1 it cannot be reverted back for now so u lose warranty if u have one
And if I do a hard reset?
Makes no difference. There's no way back.

There's no way back. If there was, everyone here trying to mod their phone and not lose warranty would be really happy and there would probably be more than one thread showing you how to do it.

[Q] 4.2.2 vs 4.3 rooting and getting OTA updates

Hi,
Recently I got a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 which has 4.2.2. It has been nagging me with an OTA update to 4.3.
- I heard it's really hard to root once you move to 4.3. Is that true?
Although I don't need to root right now, I would like to keep my options open for future.
- If I root, can I still get OTA updates without manually loading ROMs?
- Does this remove the root?
- Anyway to keep the root and still get OTA updates from T-Mobile (phone is a t-mobile branded one, but I'm using a PTel SIM)
Thanks in advance.
PS: I read some thread regarding this and I have some rough idea, but wanted to confirm it
The big concern is that firmware 4.3 has Knox boot loader. U can still root and flash custom Roms but most likely ull trip the Knox security and if never wanna go back to stock ull be involve in more risk then u weren't to update. Like u said keep ur opinion open and stay at MDL boot loader ,Root and flash ROM and ull have latest version of android!!
[emoji3] hope this helps !

So if I root (the 4.2.2) and then accept the OTA what would happen?
If u root it won't let u receive OTA it will give u a message about your phone being modified

[Q] What you should not do/install/flash??

Hii to all of you guyz
Maybe my question to all of you will help all off us together
Well I want to flash custom roms
I have read everything about knox
And I am not a noob at rooting ... flashing
But as I can see there is some things unclear with the knox thing
Well I know it is a warranty thing and I dont need it anyway couse I already woid my warranty by changing display by myself
But the question would be for all of you guys is what you should not try/do or flash
Couse it can then brick your phone?
Reading all about knox someone said you should not downgrade or you get instantly a brick
Is that true?? Couse I want to install lollipop and who knows I am on kitkat...does that mean I can not install JB or maybe if I make a backup of stock kitkat and go to lollipop can I go back to my stock kitkat backup?
Or is it like it was with my old phones like warranty void if knox tripped but if I have cwm or twrp
Can I feel free to flash anything with no worries?? Of course for my s4 mini 9195 model
Or should we all know what things are risky and can brick your phone
Please help us all
Thanks
Downgrading from stock kit kat to stock jelly bean can be a problem with Knox because of the bootloader. because the latest stock KitKat Bootloader is running version 2 Knox. And as far as I've read cannot be downgraded without some difficulty.
Personally I haven't tried flashing any custom ROMs yet but maybe try to stay away from flashing jelly bean or downgrading just because of possible issues. but flashing with a custom kernel between lollipop and KitKat custom roms shouldn't be a problem just maybe downgrading to jelly bean could be.
If you did want to downgrade to Jellybean definitely do some more reading or wait for some more experienced users to reply don't take the risk with your device unless you're sure everything will be ok.
Best of luck.
