Spigen- can't decide! - Nexus 5 Accessories

I'm so confused by exactly which of the 4 N5 spigen cases to choose from- they are all in the same price range and sort of look the same (except the ultra thin air one which is solely transparent)
If I'm looking for something thin that protects the screen- can anyone point me to which of those I'm looking for? And if it protects the screen- is it an inbuilt screen protector or a separate screen protector comes with it?
Also- chose spigen over ballistic because it doesn't appear they are selling N5 cases any more?? Why pull out so soon?
Thanks!

The only protection you're getting for the screen is the lip that raises the device when you set it facedown. Theres another product called the Rhinoshield which is a glass screen protector which will shatter instead of your phone screen if dropped. If I were you I wouldn't get the neo hybrid because of its square form making it awkward to hold and extremely uncomfortable. Rounded back da best. Other than that most cases have a lip and you should be fine based on personal preference.

I got the ultra fit off eBay for 8 bucks. It included a good quality hard screen protector. I like the minimalist design and the feel of it. Obviously it won't really protect your screen from a drop, but its good scratch protection which is all I require.

The ultra fit is good but it can damage your phone's corners - especially if you have the black N5. It requires a specific install method. I had this problem and Spigen hasn't responded in over a week. Just FYI if something happens to your device.

Thanks for the suggestions guys- I definitely like the idea of the rhinoshield as well.
@ctscloud What difference is there between the black and white N5 that would make it more susceptible to damage?

I know its not spigen but I have the diztronic case and the zagg shield and its a match made in heaven

best non-glass screen protector?

hey guys. so I had a problem with the Zagg Shield HD...once I got the extended battery and the case for it..it kept lifting up. My wife has her on her phone and it's now got a bunch of marks on it.
So I tried the Spigen glas. protector. looks beautiful but always had sensitivity issues. They sent me a free replacement. still, i'm not enjoying the phone as much and I feel it's down to how I have to press extra hard on the back button and type extra slow...
so, what is the best "old-school" screen protector i can get that won't affect sensitivity but still protects the screen from scratches? I need one that won't go to the edges but also won't just be the screen part...if that makes sense. something like the coverage of the Spigen glas without the sensitivity issues i'm having with the glas.
thanks!
Try the Anzer/Amzer. What ever it is called. I plan on replacing my Spigen Glass screen protector with one of those. I hated my zagg invisible shield HD.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
searched Amazon and three versions came up. they all look like they go to the edge of the screen, which is not good with cases on the extended battery. that's why I had to get rid of the Zagg...
any others?
I am just using the one that came with my Diztronic case and I ordered a pack of 3 screen protectors from Amazon for $3.85 (for my wife's GS3). They are all clear, don't mess with the sensitivity, and look great. If I hand my phone to 10 people, 9 of them wouldn't even know that have I have a screen protector on there and the 1 that does know would know because they are looking for it.
I don't know why everyone insists on getting these tempered glass screen protectors or the Zagg-like (rubber feeling) screen protectors that you can't poke a pen or a drill bit through in a YouTube video. All I need is something that will keep my keys from scratching up the screen in my pocket and if it does scratch the screen protector I want to be able to replace it quickly and cheaply. For basically a buck each... You can't go wrong.
I still have the original 'cheap' screen protector on my old Vibrant that my kid is using and it still looks great so I have never needed to change them out. I still have 2 out of the 3 that I bought back when I got that phone so I am ready to go if/when it needs replacing.
Spigen nano clear is good. It came with my case. The edges only go to the edge of the screen so it's good if u have a bulky case. It's also really easy to clean and feels smooth like glass
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
anyone try the Spigen 4H protector?
the nano and clear are 2H, the glas is 8H, this one is 4H and seems to be more like a film but stronger than the other models.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...axy-s3-screen-protector-steinheil-series.html
I'm looking for a good and cheap screen protector too. I prefer the dry application hard plastic ones (4H), I don't like the tempered glass neither the wet application skins.
I have the SGP Ultra Nano Clear and it's good sp but scratched easily. I had the Ultra Crystal, it was better but the fit wasn't right (too big, caused the edges to peel). I think they fixed its size already, not sure.
My ideal sp would be the curved and clear with 4H hardness and fingers print resist at a price of less than $15 (for 2 ps). I found one from korea - SkinPlayer 3D, but it's more expensive than $15 and can't be found outside korea. there's a topic about it -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856079
I think i'll go with the Ultra Crystal again. unless somebody will recommend a cheaper sp with the same or better quality.
sounds like you're describing the one I posted above in terms of look, hardness, price, etc. but now it's just a question of whether it'll peel on the sides or not...
any other suggestions?
I'm really ITCHING to get rid of this Spigen glas thing...I was ready to order the Nano Optics but the reviews are so mixed for those online I don't want to waste my time and money anymore.
why do local stores only carry Zagg?! ahhhh
Go with the just like glass protector by dba. I just put it on and it feels exactly like the glass.

i appreciate your enthusiasm, but there's a few things that concern me. Spigen makes the glas, and both of them have had horrible sensitivity. second, the curvel crystal makes it sound like it goes to the edges of the phone...and that was my problem with the Zagg Shield HD...the cases were lifting the edges badly.
is either of these things happening to you? do you have a picture of how it looks on the phone?

I have the spigen curved one also, no issues at all with sensitivity, not sure where you heard that? It feels really good, like no layer at all. I can't tell you whether it will lift up or not with a case, my case is 2 pieces so it never pushes against the edges..

You favorite screen protector?

Just in the market for a new screen protector and wanted some input from you guys.
So what is the current screen protector that you guys are rocking on your S3?
Also, how do screen protectors stack up to each other?
(Zagg vs Ghost Armor vs Mercury vs Spigen vs Military Shield and others)
Spigen Curved Crystal! Its a dry install protector thats almost edge to edge maybe a few mm's short, but it definitely sticks on the edges. Feels and looks like there as if nothing on the screen. Only complaint is that is does scratch somewhat easily but whatever. Also two protectors come in each pack.
I always used clear-coat on my devices. Love their products and customers support. Just bought me some xtreme guards and love it also.. very cheap and works awesome.

any idea of what may a good matte screen protector that goes all the way to the edges? most i've found are all too small
quick tip dont buy the £4 ones from sainsburys they dont cover the full screen and make the touchscreen unresponsive
My favorite is the dba just like glass

these are the three I like.
skinplayer 3D mask film for edge to edge coverage, once on you don't notice it.
fonemax glass screen protector
mercury edge to edge protector with colour boarder.
I use Vikuiti. It's less well-known, but the people who've seen often don't notice I even have a protector on, until I point it out to them. It doesn't cover the whole front, and is pretty much made to fit the width of the screen, and length of the phone. Haven't found the need to use any other brand of protectors so far :good:
I would suggest Spigen Ultra Crystal! Good protection, scratch resistance, fit to any case!..
Hands down Steinhill ultra crystal...
It's the best, it's thick but not to thick, feels like glass, smooth as can be.. They are just the best I tried all other protectors nothing comes close.... I don't buy any other for my phones..
I bought a bunch from DealExtreme. They are extremely cheap and high quality. Since most people in manufacturing in China nowadays, possibly the ones I got are the exact same ones sold by brand names for 100x more.

[REVIEW] Ringke Fusion for Nexus 5

Just received the Ringke Fusion case which I ordered a few weeks ago from Amazon. I actually ordered it launch day for the Nexus 5, but they stipulated that it wouldn't be shipped until around November 6th.
Overall I'm very happy with the case, nice build quality, especially the matte black finish. The clear backing was nicely protected with a film on both sides, so no damage upon receipt. I used the Ringke Fusion for the Nexus 4 as well, but the Nexus 5 version seems more refined in design and matches the Nexus 5's aesthetics a bit more. The Spigen Ultra Hybrid case is obviously the closest comparison, but I prefer the less pronounced buttons on the sides as well as the slightly more rounded form.
The case also comes with a template card for you to place on images and make your own inserts for behind the back cover (which i can't see most people using, but its a nice thought).
Only real issue with the case comes from the fact that the back is clear, and any dust which gets between the plastic and the black back of the phone is very visible.

The case shouldn't interfere as long as the screen protector doesn't go to the extreme edge of the actual glass. I'm currently using a screen protector that is only about 0.5mm from the glass edge and there no case/screen protector contact or bubbling.

I actually ordered both, and use the Spigen version for the reason you don't. I like the better defined buttons on the Spigen Hybrid.
I ended up ordering 6 cases and the Spigen Hybrid is my favorite I use every day. Just be sure to peel the almost invisible shipping film from both sides of the clear case.

With my N4, my go to case is the Rinke Fusion and the first gen at that! Anyone who had the first gen release knows that the buttons were hard as nails and have virtually no feedback. I lived with it, and got used to it, but in the back of my mind, it's a flaw and I know it lol.
Now with the N5, I looked at the Fusion, but because of my personal experience with the first gen fusion case, I opted for the Spigen. It was personal preference actually. I prefer the button layout, even though the power button is pretty sensitive. I like the more "squared" look of the Spigen's back side compared to the Fusion as you pictured in the OP. Not knocking it at all. The fusion looks nice, but my grey Spigen is my current go to. However saying that, I am awaiting the white candygel Spigen case and I'll see how that works. And IMO resembles the fusion a bit lol.
I have this case and love it. I photocopied the barcode on my gym card and stuck it under the case so I don't have to take out my keys when I go to the gym. Works perfectly.
hi, I've got spiegen case and the rinkge. I prefer ringe because it's thinner, it doesn't rub off the screen protector as the spiegen. I'm pretty sure that's cause you still have the 2 protective layers on the plastic still, I remember seeing 2 circles when i first took it out of the box

The case is too tight and scratch the left top corner. My advice is to keep the case on and never take it off. Or use a soft case like a tpu.

Shellster case for my N5
Hi
I use this shellster case for my N5 and for still I have not used any screen protector on my N5 as it protects my phone completely it does not let the screen to touch surface even when I put it on the table even from the screen behalf...it has a 180 stand view that also makes me comfortable for media viewing in both mode in landscape and portrate and it also ensures the safety of my phone quite well too..so I like this case and would recommend too...the only thing I just need to update in it is to have some protection in the lower end as it is open from their...but that hardly effects as it covers the corners properly...so simply I have a case with a combo of Holster and Kick stand....So I just love it and quite happy with it.....
I was using an extreme guard screen protector...but it was coming up at the corners and looked pretty aesthetically displeasing so I took it off a few days ago.. the bare glass is so nice and smooth to the touch... I think I will let the Gglass do it's job until I have to run into my old nemesis quartz sand when I go to Florida this spring break

No case, no screen protector.
First we don't need a screen protector, the screen is hard enough to protect from friction.
Second you'll waste the original back of N5, course the touch feeling of any other case cannot be better than the skin like material.
That's my opinion:fingers-crossed:

Actually, the screen can very easily scratch, all it takes is a bit of sand or dust in your pocket. Glass is harder than steel, so keys are not a concern, but most sand is silicon, which is the same hardness as glass, and some sand or dust can even be corundum or diamond, and there is just no way to stop that from scratching any surface.

T-Mobile Z1S Owners - Anyone have a case?

I've been with the Z1s for about one month now, and it's going pretty great. But the all-glass front and back make me pretty nervous. I know we have the two cases from T-Mobile, but does anyone know of any other cases out there? There seems to be an annoying trend of the Z1 Mini being called the Z1s which makes finding a case a PITA.

My Sony xperia z with $1.52 amazon case was an indestructible beast drops upon drops concrete . wood , it meet its demise by my hands intentionally but it did not go down easy multiple whacks to a granite counter corner and still lights not out. hands down the best made for durability ever. Samsung could learn a thing or 2 from Sony . I am sure the Z1 follows suit
Hey guys, for those who were wondering, the IVSO case does indeed work on the T-Mobile Z1s. It's branded as IVSO on Amazon but when you receive it, it is the Nillkin Frosted Shield case series. That's not to say it's a bad thing, if you've ever used one of those Nillkin Frosted cases, it's exactly like those feel. If you haven't, just find a review of a frosted shield case for any phone, it feels solid and nice. Very minimalistic and nicely designed.
I don't have pictures, but the fit is perfect. All the cut outs are where they should be, the only missing cutout is the spot for the SIM card, but it makes sense for why there isn't a cut out there. Overall, I've always liked the Nillkin cases and it continues with this snap-on case. I will say this, if you dropped your phone on it's speaker grille side or headphone side, there is no protection there. It's just for the sides and the back. There isn't exactly an overlapping clip, if that makes sense, for the front either. So, if your phone lands flat on its screen, don't expect much protection. AGAIN, this is almost exactly like the Frosted Shield series for other phones, though. It's more for appearance than protection.

I second that. Love Nillkin cases. Not a whole lot of protection but works well enough to protect against minor drops and bumps. Also adds grip to the slippery phone.
I got my Z1s about 3 weeks ago and have been rocking it naked. Been loving it. Naked all the way baby.
