[Q] Dynamic Widget Background - Zooper Widget General

I'm trying to create a widget that changes background picture based on the time if the day. I can't seem to find a way to do it. Anyone had any suggestions?

I had this problem with creating a widget which would say Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Go to sleep depending on the time of the day, I came up with this code
Code:
$#Dk#<7?Go to sleep$$#Dk#>=7 && #Dk#<12?Morning$$#Dk#>=12 && #Dk#<=16?Afternoon$$#Dk#>16?Evening$, Dude
So basically before 7am the widget would say "Go to sleep" (I always sleep that late heh), and from 7am-12pm it would say "Morning", 12pm-4pm "Afternoon and then 4pm onwards "Evening".
I guess you could substitude the words with the path to the pictures you want, good luck!

[Q] ROMs... Which one has these?

Hi all,
I've changed quite a few ROMs lately trying to find the one I like most. I'm using a Desire Z.
I'm running my Work email client (lotus notes traveler) that requires the phone to have a screen lock <=30min. It seems like that apart from Sense ROM that has a native lock screen timer any other market app to delay it gets overridden by Notes settings
I tested
Cyan: like the speed, not so much the GUI, also trieded it with LaucherPRO that i prefer to ADW this is not really my preferred one. Battery is average for me on this ROM
MIUI: love it, problem is I can't extend the lock-screen time to 30 minutes and I hate typing password every single time. (tried a few apps from the market but Lotus Notes for Android over-rides their settings)
Virtuous Glite: Love the lightness and speed and battery life, also like the clean minimalistic GUI, same problem as with MIUI.... lock screen
Virtuous Unity: Apart from battery life I love this ROM. Lock-Screen here works perfectly allowing me to apply 30min delay
Each one has things that I like and Unity is the one that gets closer to what I need apart from battery life.
So this is my shopping list, can you help me finding the perfect one?
Extended battery? How about stick an 1800mah from an evo in there ?

isnt there a lockscreen app on market to fully customize? i had a paid lockscreen app that let me do pretty much anything i just forget the name....i wanna say "something locker"
Have you tried flashing your radio to the one recommended in the Unity thread (also in my sig)?
With Unity and the matching radio, I can get 48 hrs with fairly light usage. But if its truly a radio issue, this can be very locational dependent, of course.

I think there are other applications similar to widget locker. Do a search for widget locker on market and check similar apps. You can probably email them and see if they do what you need.

Is anybody else annoyed at the 4.2 quick settings not all being real toggles?

A LINK to the setting page of bluetooth or Wifi instead of a toggle? Have the AOSP team no idea what is going on in the custom ROM world? Do they not see anything the community has done? You'd think that Android would adopt everything of use from custom ROMs and yet, when we think they're finally doing things right, they botch it up with a half-assed solution like a LINK to the Wifi settings instead of a toggle. Amazing.
Just had to rant. What an infuriating development. Makes me think the AOSP team is starting to rest on their laurels like the iOS team has been doing for years now.
And don't get me started on how the lockscreen widgets aren't as secure as they should be.

Its funny cause a lot if the AOSP are major supporters and contributors of the custom ROM community. Better watch what you say about them.

There has to be room for criticism here. AOSP will always be the baseline and that baseline has to become more useful with solutions that go all the way, not just links to a settings page.
I suspect that there will be a major outcry about this quick settings shade and they will all be turned into toggles in Android 4.2.1
They have to include something in 4.2.1 or whatever is next so they skipped it now as they can boast later .
that's quite disapointing.... hopefuly they will change it for 4.2.1
I agree with you CADude. I'm still amazed that something as simple as battery percentage isn't included. Having toggles that don't toggle really is half-assed.
which toggles are actually toggles?

Brightness and aeroplane mode, but brightness opens up a slider, so you mightn't count that as a toggle.

Part of me wants to NOT complain because we have it so much better than iOS users already but this quick settings shade struck me as more of a placeholder than something that has been finalized as a truly useful feature. There's no customization to it, it looks awkwardly proportioned like a bunch of Windows Phone live tiles, and there's no effort to display a lot of information on it, despite seemingly having a lot of space left to work with.
Its as if the AOSP team doesn't have any faith in the intelligence of the public to learn how to use a toggle and instead took the safe route and put links in there instead so that people wouldn't complain about their phone settings being messed up by fooling around up there. That's the only explanation I can come up with for such a massive fail of an implementation.
I'm really annoyed at the possibility that this shade won't be made useful or more functional until Android 4.3 in another 4 months...

Listen, I know you guys are used to getting upvoted on reddit or whatever other teenybopper place you guys post at but this is a forum for real discussion about OS functionality, not being first to spout the latest meme to make other teenies smile when they see you applying it to every complaint out there.
There are a few things I've noticed which I would've preferred to function differently.
1. The lockscreen status bar clock doesn't autohide anymore, I know it's knit-picky, but two clocks on one screen is silly IMO.
2. The mobile data option in the shortcuts takes you to data usage, not the toggles, a little bit of a fail.
3. The status bar date should, when selected, take you to the clock app, not the clock settings, I mean, how often does one change those?
4. I like that the battery percentage is hidden away, but it's still there, I actually dig it a lot.
5. I don't like how the lockscreen widgets light up the sides of the lockscreen when you turn your screen on.
As you can see, these are all cosmetic changes that can be made pretty easily I am sure. One thing I am looking forward to is how devs customise all of these options, because the AOSP framework is there now, no need for CM toggles, etc. So although Google may not have nailed it 100%, our devs surely will.
Apologies if this is a little OT.

now I have flashed the OTA packages, played with the QS a bit
I'm thinking now, "What the **** is this...."
not all toggles are actually toggles... and there is no way to customize it further (to me the uniqueness of android is that it offers lots of ways to customise your device)
hope they can improve this QS thing in 4.2.1...

[Q]Display "Tomorrow" for next day appointment

So I am trying to make a simple line of text for my next appointment. The problem so far is I cannot come up with a combination to have it display "Tomorrow" instead of the day of the week when the appointment is the next day. Has anyone accomplished this already?

This is as far as I was able to go in a little tinkering, maybe you can finish it if possible. The problem is that on saturday it will display Sunday, not tomorrow (since it goes back to 1 the next day, Sunday)....
$(#Df#+1)=#C0Sf#?(Tomorrow):#C0SEEE#$
Its basically, IF "day of the week in numbers"+1 = "Day of the week of next appointment" THEN write "Tomorrow" ELSE write "Day of the week of next appointment"

While mayhemrules solution might work, it has some flaws. Aside from the problem he mentioned, if you next appointment is on the next weekday of another week, it will still show "Tomorrow". To properly check if your appointment is on the next day, I would propose the following:
Code:
$#C0SddMM#=#W1Dddmm#?Tomorrow:#C0Sdd.mm.#$
This checks, if the day and month of the next appointment coincide with the day and month of the following day. If so, it displays Tomorrow and if not, it outputs the day and month of the appointment.
Thanks! Got it working.
I changed the code slightly to make it work properly:
Code:
$#C0SddMM#=#W1DddMM#?Tomorrow:#C0SEEEE#$
Does Zooper support multiple if's? Would also like to have it display 'today' appointments.

You can use multiple conditionals but you can't make if/else with them. So if you want to display Today/Tomorrow/Date you would have to do something like this (I didn't test it):
Code:
$#C0SddMM#=#DddMM#?Today$$#C0SddMM#=#W1DddMM#?Tomorrow$$[#C0SddMM#!=#W1DddMM#] && [#C0SddMM#!=#DddMM#]?#C0SEEEE#$

It works! Only had to remove the # after 'Today'. I just never thought of combining conditionals like that. I'm not a programmer.

Oh yes, sorry. That must have been a leftover from editing everything together. I edited my post so anyone checking this thread will get the correct one
I perfected it now:
Code:
$#C0SddMM#=?No appointments$$#C0SddMM#=#DddMM#?Today #C0SH\:mm#$$#C0SddMM#=#W1DddMM#?Tomorrow #C0SH\:mm#$$[#C0SddMM#!=#W1DddMM#] && [#C0SddMM#!=#DddMM#] && [#C0STd#<6]?#C0SEEEE#$$[#C0SddMM#!=#W1DddMM#] && [#C0SddMM#!=#DddMM#] && [#C0STd#>=6]?#C0Sd MMMM#$ #C0TITLE#
With this code it displays the next appointment.
If it's today/tomorrow then it displays 'today/tomorrow' 'time' 'description'.
If it's not today/tomorrow and less than 6 whole days from now it displays 'day of the week' 'description'.
If it's 6 days or more from now it displays 'date' 'description'.
Examples:
Today 13:00 lunch
Tomorrow 13:00 lunch
Friday lunch
8 March lunch
I had the boundary at 7 days at first. But then when the next appointment is say 6 days and 23 hours in the future then it displays the same day of the week as today which could be confusing.

Yep, very inaccurate. Facer still has tons of bugs unforunately. Here's some I've noticed. Rotation for Calibre's day of the week circle rotation doesn't work correctly. Weather was never accurate. Also, the bug still exists where watch faces don't get pushed correctly onto the Moto360 unless clicking a stock watch face and pushing and clicking back to the Facer face.

I hope my comment did not deter you in the slightest, Rod. I was just providing feedback on what still exists. Thank you for constantly trying to make this app better. It's the main one I keep using because I really love the Calibre 17 watch face that I modified to my liking by two great themers on these forums. Can you explain to me how to rotate days of the week correctly in a circular rotation. What coding is needed for the input. Right now it's ((360/7)*#DF#) - for me this made the Yesterday to appear as Friday instead of Monday. He wrote ((360/12)*#DM#) for the days of the month rotation and that shows correctly as September. Can you explain this further? Thank you.
EDIT: Downloaded your new version you just mentioned. You fixed the SYNC issue, but weather now doesn't show correctly. It only shows #WCCT# - #WCT#F. Also, current weather icon only shows the number 01, so I'm guessing you're still working on that feature.
EDIT2: That's weird! Weather now works...I guess it needs time to refresh itself when you first apply it if the face has weather text.
Just an update. Weather does not refresh on latest version despite being checked for 1 hour interval.

Just to let you know facer runs as a full fledged app on the match which drains a lot of battery. It's advices you use the regular faces for more battery. You can pull over a day with the stock faces.

I had the same experience but on the battery percentage. Edit an existing template and ported to the phone, it worked at first but then was displaying the # tags on the battery percentage. Another bug I find is that sometimes, Facer just hang at syncing and I have to apply different simple faces to get it to respond.

Yeah Facer weather has never worked for me. I just get all the animations overlapping and -- for the temp or location. A shame as there are some really lovely looking faces out there. Battery and of course time work well otherwise. Tried all the known fixes...

Alternatives to Notifybuddy

Since MIUI 11, a lot of us apparently have trouble making Notifybuddy work properly on our devices.
As it seems like dev of the app has not time / doesn't want to fix the app for MIUI users, I was wondering what was your go to app for screen notifications.
I tried several that don't work either, so I ended using "always on amoled" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.alwayson).
I spent some time configuring it in the most minimalistic way and it does the job.
