4.1.2 bluetooth MAP on 4.3? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

So, I updated to 4.3 and now my focus is having problems with bluetooth. It used to work perfectly before the update but now the metadata of the song doesn't update on the radio and some other things like texts don't come through like they used to.
Simply put, is there a way to get the old bluetooth "stuff" into 4.3 or is that baked in?

I was just studying the BT issues and I found out all phones with 4.2 or greater has BT problems across the board.
Can you just copy-paste BT files? I don't know.
But its a common issue.

That's what I aim to find out... I'm tempted to just go back to a 4.1.2 ROM but meh...

No, I agree about staying with 4.3. I'm sure Google will release a fix or a clever xda member will get it.

Bump, still looking for info

Can you explain what are the exact problems you experiencing with BT.
Because I'm not getting any atm! Just curious is to what's not working and what is...

Sounds like he isn't getting song info and text messages on his car's head unit when connected to the phone through BT on a 4.3 ROM.
Me, I just get choppy playback.

Pretty much. I used to be able to see what was playing. I used to be able to control pandora (pause/skip) but that no longer works either. I also do not get notifications like texts anymore.

Quoting you too so you get a notification,
Edit: quote from a verizon thread:
Just so everyone is aware, this is due to the whole Motorola/Google ownership change. In previous versions of Android, Motorola sourced their own protocols for their products, and included MAP in their bluetooth profiles. Since the Jelly Bean update, they've used Google's own Bluetooth protocols, in which MAP was omitted.
is this true? Surely not, how would it have worked on 4.1.2?
Edit again:
http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...ocus-feature-bluetooth-map-now-supported.html
Says kitkat supports MAP again............. may just get a kitkat rom even though I'd rather stick to stock TW.....

Well, I updated to 4.4 ........... still no go

Pandora 1.5 just came out, does it fix the quality problems with froyo?

The new version just came out and although I can't find any release notes, I figured this might address the stagefright quality issues with 2.2. I have a harder time telling the difference on my headphones than I do in my car so I was hoping for some independent verification.
Any better? Worse?
Meh, I keep Pandora 1.3 with no issues on quality. I stream to my head unit via bluetooth and it sounds pretty good.
Also...little secret. 1.3 has a glitch that allows you to get out of the station, go back in and you have all six skips back =).

Hmm, I need to find that .apk. I'm the ultra skipper. What's the trick?
I've been using last.fm because pandora sounded like crap, but I'm not sure what I was hearing was because of the codec problem, and I'm not sure what pandora sounded like before 2.2.
I'll check it out now.
EDIT: Sounds better than it used to, but some weird static sounds are in-between songs.
Yes! Since the 3.29 update pandora sounds good again..

I know that froyo is the problem, but if they can work around it with a new build of pandora, then that saves me the effort of having to update my phone again. Or at least lets me put it off until I can figure out the order that I have to do everything in.

Your comment is useless. It has already been acknowledged that updating the ROM to the latest OTA will fix the issue, but what has not been answered is whether or not the new Pandora 1.5 release will fix the sound issues without updating to the new OTA. Updating the phone can be a pain in the ars if you have to do data wipes and reinstall apps. Even I'm hesitant to update my ROM anymore because of the hassle. Last time it took me an hour to update and restore all the apps and settings.

Ok then....Answer me this mr. smarty! Why would pandora fix something that was an operating system issue and has already been patched? The sound quality issue was only a problem on the froyo upgrade and now its not, because the android coders recognized thier mistake and patched it. It wasn't pandora's problem to begin with, so there is nothing for them to fix.
If your too LAZY to keep your rom updated then maybe you shouldnt be rooting your phone! Go back to stock and you won't have to worry about it. Besides if you back up your apps and sync contacts it should only take a few extra minutes to get them all back. Stop being a lazy and install an updated rom and quit your *****ing! Or dont, and use a different app for streaming.
Problem solved!
C'mon man, re-read your post and realize how dumb it sounds.
To answer the question- NO! THE PANDORA UPDATE DOES NOT FIX THE SOUND QUALITY ISSUE WITH FROYO. WHY, BECAUSE FROYO HAS BEEN UPDATED TO FIX THE SOUND QUALITY WITH PANDORA.

Thats not what this thread is about. But I agree they do. Its definatly not cd quality. When the froyo update came down, stagefright made pandora sound like crap. The difference was day and night. Since the 3.29 its sounds like it did before froyo. Untill they decide to use a new codec thats what we get.

The problem with that article is that the author has absolutely no idea what HE-AAC v1 and HE-AAC v2 actually are, so he's spewing crap. Pandora does not use a "crappy codec". HE-AAC is not "legacy". Pandora is using a modern, state of the art codec for low-bandwidth music streaming, and Google broke it when they switched to a new media decoding framework in Froyo. That's all there is to it.

lol, thanks. Actually i was hoping an answer from anyone having problems.
I was having them quite often, figured out it was only when I had DSP manager or Awesome beats installed AND set to modify the bluetooth sound. Not sure if this is your case or not but thought I would chime in. To fix I just unchecked ALL options under bluetooth then unpaired. (Turn off BT go into BT on phone, unpair, turn BT on phone off, reboot phone) then I repaired and no more disconnects.

I got lots of disconnections from my car audio system.
My heart rate monitor and nokia head set disconnects too much. Over 5 times in one hour.
My wife's GN also disconnects from her Kenwood head unit. Far less frequently than mine, but it happens. I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in on this issue. My dad just got his GN yesterday so I'll check his tonight to see if it too suffers from this problem.

i notice Bluetooth issues when connected to my motorcycle helmet.
using stock or other custom roms it will start to cut out or skip when i put the phone in my pocket and at highway speed it loses connection completely.
when using cm10 "official not the kangs" it has no issue whatsoever and the connection distance is improved 20x. i can have the phone 20 meters away and it still stays connected and even at highway speeds.

Yeah, I'm also very interested in finding out if the yakju update has the same issues (which I'm guessing it does, otherwise it would probably have been called 4.2.1). If it does, I'm not gonna update, don't want my Bluetooth broken along with a bunch of other issues.

The same as the takju update.
just just just installed the upgrade... not impressed at all so far... very slow... but maybe I have to give it some time to stablize... I hope! Everyone else is happy with the speed...
It`s still 4.2 so the same issues like the takju update...
Let´s hope that 4.2.1 will bring the fixes soon...
Been testing it for a few minutes, only thing so far is the December missing from the contacts app.
Even if you can work around that by using gmail to edit contacts when needed I´m really hoping they release a fix soon...
Speed seems find so far, and at least I´m happy Google finally disabled the phone vibrating when unlocking it
The first reboot after update was really problematic for me with apps FC constantly. A second reboot seems to have stabilized things quite significantly.
I have to say though, I really dislike the lock screen widgets implementation. Not Google's finest hour.

Unfortunately, this seems to afflict almost every 4.2 AOSP-based ROM out there. I've reverted back to a late-November ParanoidAndroid ROM for the time being. Performance isn't as good (I'm a fan of 60fps environment), but it works for everything. I've got to have BT audio working, so I don't really have a choice, unless I go to TouchWiz.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the CM team gets the issue knocked out, though. When they do, I'll happily switch back over to CM.
Yeah I really can't wait for the bluetooth to be fixed. I switched back to TW for bluetooth, but it was just not that good for me. Back to Task's AOKP 4.2. For now in my car I am using the aux cable for audio, so I'm really hoping sometime really soon they fix it.

I do not need BT to work for any particular purpose but I DO need wifi tethering to work. I just put CM 10.1 on my phone and found that this is not working right now... I can create a hotspot but I cannot get my computer to connect to it. Is this a common problem people are having? Does Task's 4.2 rom work with tethering?

[Q] Phone call audio switches back to handset from bluetooth

I've had bluetooth headsets forever and this problem is killing me!
Currently running CleanRom AT&T SE3.0 but also had the problem with his 4.9 international version, using I317UCAMA4 for the radio. Headset is Jawbone ERA.
What started happening recently is that I'll answer/make a call on the headset and randomly it'll switch audio back to the phone, either . I'll suddenly realize it's happened and look at the dialer which shows that it's still going to bluetooth. I can listen to bluetooth audio streaming and it never happens, only on phone calls.

Yeah, there's only one update and most people are claiming that's what started a multitude of problems. I already updated a long time ago.
On the other hand, I tested with a older Blueant Z9i I had laying around and discovered the same problem which points it back to the ROM or radio, I'm not sure which. I'm currently running CleanROM ATT SE3.0 and UCAMA4 for the radio. UCAMA4 is the most current radio right? It was happening on CleanROM 4.9 and the previous radio as well though so I'm pretty confused.
