[Review][Nexus 5][TPU Case]Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit - Black - Nexus 5 Accessories

Manufacturer: Cruzerlite
Case: Bugdroid Circuit (Nexus 5)
Color: Black
Description (summary of the cruzerlite description): Shock absorbent and scratch resistant thermoplastic premium polyurethane case with custom designed Android print on the back.
Overall impression and build quality: The build quality of this case is excellent. The best i've seen so far. The case itself is glossy whereas the back has some some kind of a soft touch surface with an Android print.
Cutouts: All cutouts are on the right place with the right dimension. You still have the click-response when you press the power button or the volume rocker. The power button feels more solid with the case. At the beginning it might be a little bit unusual for you to press the buttons because the case is a little bit higher than the button itself. In my opinion it feels much better with the case.
Screen protector compatibility: Yes, this case might lift up your screen protector if you don't adjust your screen protector precisely. It depends on your screen protector though. I've had that problem but fixed it with a few adjustments of the screen protector.
Headphone jack: All of my headphones are compatible with this case. The headphone jack cutout seems to be big enough.
I would definitely buy it again. It looks just amazing!

This one looks cool. might pick one up for my replacement nexus 5.

I like it but I don't use it that much anymore. I was caseless for about a month and I never came close to dropping my phone once. After day 1 I dropped the phone for the first time with the case on. It's a bit slippery. I find the phone itself naked is very grippy. The black N5 at least. So I use the case when I want to set the phone down on its back. So I don't scratch the rim around the camera lens. Don't get me wrong the case protects the phone good, I just think the natural form of the phone is easier to handle.

when you have a three year old, you need protection.

right. i'm driving with the subway and bus every day and need some kind of protection for my investment. i'm always on the run. and i don't think the case is too slippery. but thats just my opinion.

in my case, pretty good. here are a few more pictures ...

Are the buttons fairly easy to press? I have the popular Nexus 5 Casemate case, which is also a TPU case with button cutouts. But, the power button was and remains sort of a pain, as it's recessed a bit too far from the outer surface of the case.

do you mean the case-mate naked tough clear slim case or the one from casology ?
i'd say it depends on the thickness of your fingers and the way you press the buttons. in case of the power button ... for me it's not like i press the button itself. it's more like i apply a litte bit of pressure on the case with my thumb to press the power button. since the button itself is surrounded by the case on all sides, only the middle area of my thumb goes down to the power button. if i press it like that, i get a louder click as response.

DX BOX Aluminum Bumper

Just wanted to post this item as I have just received one and I will say that it is pretty much perfect for what I wanted.
It is nicely packaged, includes extra screws and protects the corners while being extremely light and maintaining the One's premium feel.
It does NOT protect the back side, even on a table. This is fine for me as all I really care about is denting the corners. Also the power button takes a bit getting used to hitting as it is recessed, but there is no way around this with this design.
It took almost 3 weeks to get here and I will probably order a spare silver one.
I have attached some pics for you.
Enjoy

Just received mine today (black) looks really slick once fitted.
I had to place a strip of black electrical pvc tape on each inside edge as out the box its a bit loose.
Just ordered a black vinyl cover for the back to protect it from scratches.

Hi,
Here are a few pics of my black on black. With an Xtreme guard on the back I screwed up a little bit. Anyway.
Nice I just ordered a red one.
Do you guys think that a back protector is needed?? I get my one on Saturday and I purchased a front screen protector but I'm starting to think I need a back one with three one being aluminum and all.

I'm from the school of thought that A. we destroy the original engineering as little as possible B. some scratching, scuffing is reasonable wear and tear on an item. So, I do no see any point in using a back cover. Like I said, I have dropped the phone 3 times and dented the top corners and it has create a small gap on one corner so I think it's important to protect the corners. For me I also have accidental warranty so if I smash the screen it's only $100 to get a replacement.
The feel of this phone is too nice to ruin it with plastic film.
Looks nice, does it add much weight to the phone and how easy is it to install and finally would it okay with a glass protector?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My question as well. Would this fair okay with the spigen glas.tr protector?
I have held one in hand and it is quite light, feel like it doesn't add much weight if any at all, definitely not very noticeable from what I thought. Also very easy to install. Just curious about the glass screen protector.

Dead simple install and is is VERY light. It is honestly the best IMHO. As for your Screen protector, I can't see why it wouldn't, unless the screen protector extends past the bezel.
about back protector = I would say it realldy depends on what kind of protection you need.
If keeping your device brand new and shiny for as long as possible, you should definitely get one. Otherwise, if a few scratches or wear marks are acceptable to you it is not something you have to consider. However I've always been a user of screen protectors as they are barely visible if applied correctly - and keep your device's value at its best if you plan to resale it someday.
I have tested many protections (incipio feather shine, dual pro, belkin, urban armor gear and finally this aluminium bumper.
I would not recommend this last one for daily use, as IMHO it really does not offer drop protection (shock absorbtion is not one of aluminium blends's characteristics) and prevent the screen to shatter in case you drop it from pocket height. For this reason I will stick with dual pro or UAG cases. But if you're really careful with your device, and just looking for small amount of protection and no bulk addition, then this might be the perfect one for you.
...oh, and I can confirm it adds not weight at all.

I'm sure it's probably fine. The one non draco I have is great so I can't see the fake draco being crap so long as it is aluminum. Just a guess though.
I think it would fit just fine with a spigen gtr on there the glass it not edge to edge or top to bottom.

I've got it and I think it does so I took it out. Not sure if it goes for everyone but from my experience it does. Especially when I was using WiFi at home when I didn't have the bumper case my WiFi signal was always full bar but soon as I put it on it fluctuates between 2 and 3 bars. Just my personal experience I've read from some people that it doesn't affect their signal so maybe mine was a factory defect

Official Bumper Case buttons?

On my phone, the bumper case buttons are just small mashable indents that you can press, rather than the actual phone which are real buttons. It's really hard to press the power and volume buttons with the case on. Is this just my case, or is it a poorly designed case?

It is just poorly designed. I got basically this case:
http://www.amazon.com/Cimo-S-Line-Flexible-Cover-Google/dp/B00G0FG792
but on ebay for $6. The buttons were so hard to push I ordered Google's $35 offical case because in the pictures it looked like there were cutouts for the buttons. As you well know there are not!
I can honestly say I hate everything about the Google case. It's only redeeming characteristic is the "NEXUS" label. Its hard slick plastic and square corners are just an unimaginably horrible design.
I don't think any case that covers the micro buttons will work any better. They are just too small and have no travel at all. They really need to be exposed.
The color rubs off or stains the official bumper case.
Xacto knife the sides of the buttons. Fixes that issue.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Stick a piece of plastic in the case do that a harder surface makes contact with the button. 90% of tpu cases have this issue on all phones. People been complaining for years. A lil ingenuity and it'll work fine.

Good Cases?

What are some good cases for the phone?
I really like my Nillkin Natural TPU case. there are a couple of other threads with cases and pics.
that clear right? doesn't that interfere with flash when taking pictures?
Nilkin Frosted Shield case recommended.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/20134158223...49&var=500540193931&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I have both of these cases as well, and they are both excellent choices. I wish the clear case was a tad thicker, but I like that my phone's back cover is viewable through the clear case (so pretty!) and it doesn't add extra bulk.
Unlike some silicon cases, it has a smooth finish that won't stick to your pocket (it also might slide out of your hand easily enough, if your hand is damp).
There is a cutout for the flash, so I've not noticed any issues with it. The covers for the headphone jack and usb connector are a nice touch as well, but the usb cover on mine seems to not want to sit completely flush. Not a huge deal to me, even with OCD.
I like that the clear case covers the bottom edge of the phone, whereas the matte case leaves it exposed. The bottom edge of my phone already seems to have some wear because of the exposure.
That said, I really do like the feel and color of the matte case (I have red), and it fits a little more snugly that the clear case, IMHO.
I'd like to see a heavier duty case, something like a Griffin Survivor style case with 2-part rubber and hard plastic component. Unfortunately for now, the Nillikin cases aren't going to afford your phone much more than scratch protection but they are nice to hold and are better than nothing! Definitely pair with a nice tempered glass screen protector, if you can find one that fits well, that is...

The Rearth Ringke Fusion case is very good, fits well, I find it comfortable and of a durable material. Helps with the power button as the case plastic makes it pop out a bit and it can be pressed with a lot of ease.

I've read there are issues with the Rearth Ringke Fusion case and the camera's flash. Have you experienced problems in that area?
The Ringke clear case creates a nasty halo on photos whenever you use the flash --- much worse than the Nilkin (halo is barely visible). I still prefer it over the Nilkin case because it feels much sturdier: like it'll actually protect my phone *if* I drop it. It doesn't have a USB port cover on it unlike the Nilkin, though.
The Nilkin case just feels too flimsy for my tastes. I also don't use the flash on mobile phones anyway... most of them are too harsh.
If you really want a subtle highlight when taking photos, have someone else use their mobile's torch app to shine on your subjects
I have this case and it's good. I did a review of it too. Very sturdy and not glossy so firm in hand. Comes with a screen protector $10 buck is a great deal!

I am not a heavy camera user, so I have not tried to see if there is any difference. I have used the camera with no problem. I am very confortable with it, it does its job how it should, protects the phone.

I am happy with the nilkin, actually dropped two times and it did its job (thankfully Murphy played nice on me and it always fell on a corner, if it would drop dead flat, screen first, I am sure it would be dead). The back texture helps holding it in my hand, plastic rear cover of 550 is very very slippery also not much bulkier than stock (already bulky and heavy phone).

Sure, it doesn't protect the device while it's in my hands, but I have more problems with phones when I am not holding them.
I have the Rearth Ringke Fusion and it does add a glare to pics if the flash is on but good thing I rarely use my flash. Looks like a simple fix just cut the piece of plastic that separates the flash and camera but other than that great protection for the phone for now.
Another happy user of the Nillkin Natural TPU, it's an excellent fit and adds very little bulk to the phone. The edges make it much easier to grip the phone as well. Best case I've tried so far.

Just received the new Spigen case!

Long story short, buy this now! I'll answer questions when I can. Here are some pics of it in the phone in the mean time! Sorry about quality!
How does it feel in the hand? I prefer hybrid cases but if this doesn't have that rubbery, grimy feel that hold onto pocket lint I think I might bite the bullet and get it. It would be my third case do I want to make sure I'll like it before I buy it.

Great photos thanks. Compared to the Axon 7's included clear TPU case, do you believe this Spigen offers superior drop cushioning on the corners? Does the front lip offer greater stand off distance as well?
I'm starting to believe I'll have to run my Axon without screen protection, since every tempered glass protector I've seen has the halo issue...a large front lip on the case would be ideal.
Hey everyone sorry for the late reply! Been very busy.
I'd say it adds about...3 to 5 (5 for margin of error) millimeters to each side, and it does add a little weight. But, honestly the weights nothing really to write home about. If anything it's a sign of quality to me. I also like how much better it feels in hand compared to the stock case, this case is not at all glossy except for the carbon fiber parts and has a matte finish. The power button is textured on this case which is nice because I'm not use to the power button being below the volume buttons so I'm constantly locking my screen when I intend to use the volume. Why they ever decided that for this phone is besides me.
This case fits this phone like a ****ing glove. It's very tight. It's definitely more difficult to take off then the stock case that came with the phone and definitely fits it so much better too. I'd be confident dropping this phone FROM POCKET HEIGHT without anything detrimental happening to the phone. It also has about a...2? Millimeter lip that goes over the top of the phone as well.
I also added the kickstand as someone already mentioned. It did not come with the case.
Are the buttons a littler harder to push than the stock case? I feel like I'm always pushing them without even trying.
The Spigen case feels tight and sturdy so it offers better protection over the clear ones that came with the phone. Also, the Spigen adds bit more weight if you like that, but my pinky gets sore/tired after holding it for minutes. Maybe I am not use to it? These are my initial impressions.
Can we get a belt clip/clam case that works with it? I don't pocket my phones. Thanks!

I purchased the new Spigen case as well and it provides substantially better protection than the included clear case. The front lip is taller and the corners are thicker.
For reference I wear XL gloves and I find the phone still feels good in the hand with the case. I still prefer the bare feel and size of the phone but I'm not willing to risk that. And its significantly more comfortable to hold than my old Note 4 and its relatively thin case. It's also not a lint magnet but that comes at the cost of some grippiness. The included case is tackier.
I could do without the faux carbon fiber - not a fan of anything faux - but it looks better in person than I thought it would. If you can get it for $13 vs full price, I think its well worth it - protective without being completely overwhelming.
One question for me, is it easy to use the fingerprint scanner with this case?
One issue i have with the included case with the axon 7 is that its a pit hard to get my finger inside the cut out to hit the scanner... I have large fingers too

I find the Spigen case works well with the fingerprint sensor. I actually think it's easier to find and scan the sensor with the case guiding my finger, as the border of the case around the sensor has a nice slope towards the scanner.
I got mine a few weeks ago... great case. Feels way nicer than the stock one. I didn't like the rubber texture at first but its grown on me.
What I've noticed:
The indentation for the fingerprint scanner is a bit deep and I'm using the tip of my finger more than I was before. As a result, it didn't pick up every time. Re-scanning my fingers for it fixed the problem
It's become harder to find the NFC chip on the phone. My bluetooth headphones have an NFC tag to aid pairing. It seems to be harder to find the tag now.
Buttons on the side feel way nicer - it offers more resistance than without a case (too little resistance) or the stock one (still not enough)
Too bad i can't buy it at my country... Malaysia. Have to buy from ebay and shipping fees is way too expensive.

This is one of the outstanding features I've found with TPU: slick enough to effortlessly slide in and out of pocket, but slightly tacky/grippy in the hand especially if warm or humid. It's so grippy that I don't have to wrap my fingers around the sides of the phone: I can balance the back of the Axon 7 on my fingertips one handed, which allows me to reach the entire screen area with my thumb.
Maybe I could put some grip tape on the back of the Spigen case.
Honestly guys I received my Axon 7 yesterday with the Spigen case and I hate it. The power button and volume buttons are really sharp therefore it's uncomfortable to hold and because my right index finger is always on it when I hold my phone it hurts. You can see my skin dust on it lol and I'm 17. The charging port is also very sharp. I used the stock case and it's so much more smoother and easier to hold but I do need the spigen case. I might smoothen out the buttons or something.
I just got my Spigen case a few days ago. I had it for my OnePlus 2 and loved it, but this one is even better.
It barely adds width to the phone and feels great. Not slippery, but no rough edges. The power button has a notched texture so it's easy to tell it apart from the volume buttons. The camera/fingerprint/flash have perfectly sized cutouts.
This thing will definitely protect it from a pocket level drop. It's also easy to remove in case you want to swap a microSD/SIM or clean the phone.
By far the best case that will be made for this phone.
I just received this case and it so much better than the one that comes with the axon 7. I had the case that has a kickstand on my axon linked below. Let me tell you the spigen is better for drops it's actually thicker than what I thought. Also it has more lip protection than the kickstand case. This is premium feeling case that offer some nice protection.

Agree with you 100%. I had the kickstand case and there is a world of difference between it and the Spigen case.

Best case and screen protector?

The case that came with my Mi A2 Lite is OK but I prefer to use a slim case like a Case Mate Barely There or a Spigen which I used when I had Samsungs. Can someone recommend a decent, good value case? And a good full coverage screen protector? Thanks
for screen protector search for fullscreen 3D glass. they have black edges. those are the best because they cover the full screen and don't leave the edges uncovered.
can't name a special manufacturer or something but most of them are good to go.
for cover you should check aliexpress or something.
i ordered like 4 or 5 covers. but in the end the best and thinnest TPU case is the one from xiaomi.
the one's from AliExpress are always thick or hardware buttons don't press good.
also hard cover cases are pretty good

I actually bought that exact same case but I didn't like the covering of the power and volume buttons. Felt it was unresponsive, had to press it a few times before it worked. Would like one with a cut out for those buttons..... I know, I'm being very picky!!
