Finally found THE case for the G - Moto G Accessories

Since Ballistic has no plans on making a case for the G, after perusing the net I found this: http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/motorola-moto-g/aegis-case-motorola-moto-g.aspx
It's a 2 piece Ballistic-like case for those that want ultimate drop protection. It says $34.95 on the website, but I found it on ebay for $26.95 with free shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-Motorol...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item51b7f5ab8b but only for US buyers. Shipping to other countries will be a little bit more.
They say it's been drop tested 26 times from 4ft. onto concrete. My kind of case! And even has covers for the ports to keep dust and dirt out. I'm definitely buying one since Ballistic doesn't think it's worth making a case for one of the hottest selling phones.

Yeah they have good cases. We bought both but personally like the look and feel of the otter box on the moto g. Other phones I have liked Trident better so I guess it's just personal preference and both cases are awesome

They have one that does and one that doesn't. I don't care for built in a screen protectors either so we got the one that didn't

Hmm, I may have to try out this case, too--I'm noticing some quirks with my OtterBox Commuter that may be solved with the Aegis' design. Based on the screen protectors provided with other Aegis models, it may also be a better cut than the cheap/lazy job OtterBox did.
To add to what twister99403 said, the Commuter is like the Aegis and the screen protector is optional; the Defender seems closer to Trident's Kraken A.M.S. series with its built-in screen protector.

Yeah, people have said that the built in screen protector takes away from touch response in some cases. I'll stick with the self-applicable screen protectors, as I've never had a problem with them.
I really, really, really liked my Ballistic SG case I had for my Samsung Infuse. I could literally throw it up in the air 15ft. and land on concrete without even worrying about it. I used to do that just to show people how great the case was.
Oh well, but thankfully it looks like the Trident case will be a decent replacement for the ballistic. I value protection over style any day, but it doesn't hurt that I like the way the case looks too. It seems most of the people who care about style first are probably under 25yrs. old, and possibly still live with mommy and daddy. My phone is a tool first and foremost, and I need to protect it, since I don't believe in buying a new phone every time I drop it.

I've heard of similar problems with built-in screen protectors, and that is why I don't own the OtterBox Defender.
While the Commuter doesn't have a built-in screen protector, the self-applicable one they include with the case doesn't cover the entire screen; it leaves the 1cm above the display exposed. They didn't bother to cut out even a hole or a section of the protector for the speaker/sensors/etc.--they just lopped that whole side off. I hope that Trident didn't make the same mistake with theirs.
The outer shell of the Aegis case also seems better at minimizing the dust that will seep under the silicone layer, which is something the Commuter doesn't do very well. The lanyard loop is also a nice touch; I'll be able to reattach my retractable key holder to protect it from even more falls.
While I can't say if the Aegis can stand its ground against a Ballistic SG case, it should offer enough protection. Pickings seem to be slim for heavy-duty cases that don't have built-in protectors (for now, at least). I'm more function over form too, especially since the Moto G doesn't fit in my pocket.

Man that looks really damn good.
I want that more than my Defender.
Defender now for sale if you want it PM me.

Pics of the Trident case I just received! I love it. True protection from drops, and looks nice. The corners are slightly bulbous for extra protection.

Looks fantastic wolfen69, ordered the Blue Trident Hard Case Shell yesterday off ebay from the US before seeing your photo's, they have just confirmed that I have made the right choice, looks great and offers excellent protection from falls.

I got one one of these (grey/black) Friday and it does add considerable bulk. More than I thought it would. The trade off is, it would seem to provide a lot of protection. I wouldn't be overly worried if I dropped the phone on concrete with this case. I also find it more comfortable to hold the the bare phone since I have somewhat large hands and it just fits better than the rather svelte Moto G.

So I finally gave in and got this case in blue. It looks great but the back is a bit slippery. It also adds some weight but in a good way. I was previously using the official flip shell and while it looks great (grip is really good), it doesn't offer any protection. This trident case really protects my phone from the eventual drop.

Yeah, I love mine. I'm also eventually going to drop mine, and I'm going to be glad I had this case. I would easily trust this case protecting my phone from a 4-5 ft. drop onto concrete.
I still think Ballistic makes the best cases, but since they don't make one for the G, I thought the Trident would be a good alternative.

Right on. Only tidbit is the amount of dust the rubber collects. By the way, has anyone used the screen protector included with this case?

I also put the Trident blue on my phone. I was always nervous picking up my Moto G or removing it from my pocket. I have large (and clumsy) hands and I never felt like I had a good grip on the phone. The Trident case solved all that and it feels very secure in my hand.

Best case all around?

Trust me, I've read about 200 topics in this section and searched over ebay and amazon. At this point it looks like my best bet would be the ottorbox commuter case. I want something that isn't too bulky that still protects my phone. I have an OEM VzW 2100mah extended battery w/ back door.
Honestly I don't really see any difference in the size of the phone so I wondered if that would work? Also any feedback from an owner of the ottorbox commuter case would be awesome. Just as well, if you found a better case let me know.
I've read hundreds of reviews and they all contradict other cases reviews.
Example: Review on case A. "I've tried that case B for my phone and it was awful! Too bulky and annoying. This is perfect!"
Then you go to case B's page and you see the same thing.
"Just got this is the mail to replace case A! That piece of junk makes the phone way too bulky and annoying. I love this one though, so much better!"
It's really frustrating lol. Hoping to get some input from actual nexus owners here. So. Best protection without affecting the overall size and shape of the device. Also, none of those little cheap slip on plastic one. Needs to work for a drop, not just scratches in my pocket. Thanks in advance...

Stop wasting money on phone cases when you can buy a new rear housing on eBay for $25. I've dropped my naked nexus plenty of times and the worst that happens is the battery door pops off along with the battery but never any major damage. I do however use a ghost armor screen protector.
Here is a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160852983518?redirect=mobile
But if you absolutely must have a case I recommend the seidio surface. Link: http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-surface-case-holster-black-p/bd2-hr3ssgnl-bk.htm
Hope this helps.

Just because you have dropped it without severe damage doesn't mean someone else won't. A screen protector helps scratches, not drops. I "wasted" money on a otterbox and couldn't be happier with it. Not sure with series of case it is, but it has helped a lot. I'm not sure how well this case would work with a extended battery though.

Sure a housing is only $25 but look how much the front glass is.
Cases are a very subjective thing. Somone's favorite case could be another's least favorite. Only thing you can do is view the pros/cons to each case you are interested in or check it out yourself.
I have the Seidio Active with the prop up tab thingy (which works well) and I am very happy with it. $20 on amazon vs $35 on Seidio's site.

The money will not be wasted, thanks. I work at a stone masonry. If I happen to drop my phone, it's going to land hard on a lot of rocks. A simple clip isn't going to get the job done.
I know this sort of thing depends on the user, which is why I'm asking for your experiences with cases. Success stories and failures. Naturally I want something that isn't going to double the size of the phone and make it awkward to hold in my hand. At the same time I don't want a phone condom. *Those slip on rubbers *
Say I find a case that looks nice and has decent reviews on Amazon and buy it and it sucks and someone here says "Well I could have told you that..." etc.
Also something that doesn't keep me from being able to press the very edges of my screen. My otterbox did that with my X2 and drove me crazy.
Sent from my Paranoid JellyBean
Most of the bulkier cases are going to go right to the edge of the screen. I've never personally been a fan of Otterbox but the Trident Aegis is a similar case and comes in a variety of colors.
I like the Nillkin cases... They are slim, nice looking and hard enough to protect your device...
I've had the same question as the OP for a while now but have not really posted about it because there is a case thread stickied (though outdated). I have the ringke slim which looks nice but offers minimal protection and will eventually fade/crack (I've had two). I know seidio now has a line of cases just for the OEM extended battery and I've had good luck with them in the past.

With my two previous HTC phones I said the same thing. But with the GNex that's not the case. I dropped mine once from about two feet(got caught in a plastic bag I was pulling out of my car) and it got a chip in the back. Sgp neo hybrid is not perfect, but the most bearable protection I've found.

I received my (GSM) phone with an Otterbox Commuter, and it was a little too bulky for my tastes. Also, the gummy rubber surrounding the screen makes it difficult to slide it smoothly in/out of a pants pocket. Picked up a Mercury TPU case off eBay for $7, and haven't looked back.
Dunno about the best case, but I picked up the Dizio case for about 10 bucks for my GSM model and it's been all I've needed so far. It's slim and has protected the phone from a couple of drops; fits with the 2000mAh battery and extended back, which isn't all that extended, actually; and comes with a screen protector. I was thinking about only keeping it until I found something better, but haven't even looked for another since I put it on. Side note: my sib liked it enough to get one for her Gnex.
I have a Cruzer Lite Androidified A2 case for mine. Its not a heavy duty case by any means, but it's nice looking and gets the job done. My concern is more with pocket scratches and stuff than drops though.

Well I hope I can offer some valuable input for you here dude.
I will put my vote in for the Seidio Convert Combo case, which they make compatible w/ the 2100 mah extended battery (which is actually exactly what I have). I wrote a review on amazon of this case... but i'll post it here and modify it a bit since I have actually been able to use it now for a while.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
wow, really? $32 for this beastly case? This is an amazing deal. Anyway, I wanted to post this out there for those of you considering this case.
I was looking for a case that would be beastly when I needed it to, that covered all ports (including the camera - which none others do that I'm aware of), and that worked with the stock and extended battery without having to remove the battery cover/door (the extended case works with both by the way). This is the only case that met all of these demands.
One of the things I love about this case is that it's multi-layered!! I can disassemble it when I'm at home, going to church, or whatever other relaxed environment I'm in, and simply slide it into my pocket while still retaining some protection (i.e. the surface case still stays on, you just take off the rubber bulky part that makes it "thick"). This was one of the issues I ran into with other cases... the otterbox defender case is too bulky and rubbery to slide in and out of your pocket... the otterbox commuter series is too slick (i.e. hard plastic) making it hard to hold onto - not to mention it doesn't come with a clip. Some of the others were too rubbery to slide in and out of your pocket... this Convert combo seemed the perfect solution! The surface case has a matte finish to it, making it not too slick to slide out of your hand, but still slick enough to where it won't attract tons of lint and debris from your pocket.
The exterior shell of the Convert is nice because it has a nice rubbery grippy feel to it... you aren't about to drop this thing!
I have the 2100mah battery & door from Verizon, and got this case for it. It fits perfectly with the battery door on!
Another nice thing about this case is that it comes with a belt clip/holster that holds your nexus with the screen facing inward. What's nice about this is that, when I take my phone off and set it on a counter or something, I go ahead and clip it into the belt clip and lay it there. This way, if it gets knocked off it has 360 degree protection due to the belt clip entirely covering the screen. You can tell that the belt clip is high quality... it has a spring operated clip and has a feature where you can actually lock your phone into it so it won't accidentally "bump" out! I love this feature since I have 4 children =) I have been using this case & clip for about 6 months now and haven't had the first thing break on me... I don't really drop my phone often (have a few times) but I have complete confidence in this case to protect my phone. The clip is going strong as well!
For those of you wondering, no the belt clip won't work with just the surface case - you would have to get the surface clip for that.
As far as screen functionality go, it is a little tight getting to the very edge of the screen, but I have not had any issues with it, even when moving an app from one screen to another (if you need to, the rubber on the edges of the screen will flex a little bit allowing for more movement toward the edge).
I also loved that it did not come with a built-in screen cover, but rather came with Seidio's "Ultimate Screen guard" which I absolutely love btw (I posted a review on Amazon of this as well). So now I have full functionality of my phone with almost total protection! (update: the screen protector works great! It does scratch, as does any screen protector, but still maintains that "high def" look and feel to it).
Both Seidio and Otterbox seem to have about the same warranties: 1 year from date of purchase. I cannot find anything on either of their sites indicating that they will replace their products if they break from a fall. I also have no experience with either customer service.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
now that i've had a chance to use it a while, i'll give some more input. The more I use it, the more I like it! One other feature I don't believe I mentioned, is that the clip/holster that comes with this case has an option to where you can "lock" the phone in place, in case you're in a rigorous environment (like stone working) and don't want it to accidentally get released allowing your phone to fall to the ground... it works good for the most part - you pull this piece of plastic up to lock it and push it down to allow it to be released. See the picture attached.
If I am not carrying my phone on me but have placed it on the counter or desk or something, i either leave it in the holster or take it out of the holster (in the full convert combo casing) and leave it face down. The rubber of the case really grips any slick surfaces, making it nice and grippy so it won't easily slide off of a table or counter or something.
I work in law enforcement... so most of the day, I am in my patrol car. I normally leave my phone in the holster, clipped on the passenger visor all day. I have had absolutely zero issues with it falling, bending the clip, or anything. it works perfectly too, cuz I use my 3.5mm jack on the phone (which works perfectly in the full case, even when clipped into the holster) to listen to music all day on my cd player via pandora .
I really like that the camera, headphone jack port, and charging port are covered when the full case, but yet I can slim my case down to the surface case and leave them all uncovered when I want to.
On that note, I love the surface case! The surface case does actually allow your fingers to hit all the way to the edge of the screen... you will have no issues with this at all.
In conclusion, this thing is a beast!!! But yet it doesn't have to be since you can slim it down if you want. That is a huge strength to this case in my opinion. The only downside whatsoever to this case IMO? well, you have to take it off once in a while and clean inside it as it tends to get dust/dirt down at the bottom under the surface case which scratches the plastic on the bottom of your phone somewhat (not the screen though). I don't really know of a phone case to where this wouldn't be an issue though... anyway, hope this helps!

I love the cruzerlite cases for light protection.. however, with my gsm gnex, 2 of the 3 cases I bought are kind of loose. I'll assuming they're made to fit the extended bat. The argyle case is the only one I have that actually fits well.
Anyone have other tpu recommendations that snugly fit the gsm version with standard battery? I hope I can return these androidified ones that are too big.

I have the Seidio Active Combo (came with my phone when I bought it) and I would highly recommend it:
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-active-case-holster-black-p/bd2-hk3ssgnl-bk.htm
I have never been one to use cases on cell phones but I really like this case and can see my self using it quite a bit (probably just because my phone is still new and I want to keep it nice for as long as possible). I don't think I will use the holster much but the rubber case and then the hard shell case that snaps on over the rubber case seems like a really good idea. The hard shell piece that snaps on gives added protection on the corners and the back of the phone but you can take it off if you don't want the slightly added bulk and weight.
I've been using mercury brand tpu case. It's about $4.98, but shipping from Korea took about 2 weeks, but was free, so no complaints there. I also was given an SGP ultra hybrid case as a gift. Absolutely love it.

First thing, this case is wow, amazing. Really nice quality. Feels a lot better than the Speck Candy shell I had on. So much better. The color combinations look really good too since I own a white S3.
Also, the screen protector that comes included is a very nice touch, one of my favorite, and definitely the best that's ever come bundled with a case thus far. If you want the same, nice oleophobic feel that you get with the S3 glass screen, I recommend you get the screen protector from SGP as well, as they have a very high quality one. This one however, is still very good.
Here's the pics, taken by a Gnote.

how does it feel in your hand? Is it easy to take it in and out of your pocket? Does it add noticeable thickness and weight to the device?
Thanks!

Updated with pics!
And it feels great, best of any case I've owned thus far. Very easy, the TPU material is top notch and doesn't snag or attract lint.
And almost no weight, feels amazing to hold. My Speck Candyshell more weight and thickness than this, but the Neo Hybrid feels higher quality, doesn't get all scratched up, and the multiple bumper choices make it cool if you like to have different ones on hand.
Personally, the only other color I like is the "Reventon" yellow, as my school colors are blue and gold. Lmk if you have more questions.

thanks dude for the update! Looks sweet on your white phone. I might get the same one. Couple more questions: Do you think it provides sufficient protection around the edges? In other words, is the material cushy enough to absorb a waist 4-5 feet drop? Second qs: is the lip around the screen cushy or hard?
no lint?
for reals?
Its really the only thing thats kept me from buying this case. I thoguht it would be.
Just got my white/black neo Hybrid. Wow what a case. Really thin case that's a 2 layer protection. The volume buttons and power button are good on my case. From what I read they revised the case. But overall I love the feel and grip of this case. Well made.

Just got mine off eBay. This thing is such a fake. . . . I paid 17 Bucks. Should of known it was bogus. Looks about the same, but fits very loosely and has slight differences from the OP's pics.
Hello,
I am looking to order this case from ebay but I have a few questions.
I have read some reviews from users and found out that they complain about the very sesnsitive buttons. What do you think about this? You can read users' review here -> tiny.cc/sgp-neo
I have also found some on ebay for just about half price. tiny.cc/sgp-ebay I see that the seller has a lot of positive transaction ratings for that case so I don't think it may be fake.
Also, will the white part get dirty over time? like turn grey or something... Is the micro fiber cloth good for wiping the screen or is it just a cloth?
One little problem I have with my current bumper is that the camera lenses is touching the surface I put my phone on, hope this won't happen with sgp case.
I've seen in a youtube video that is looks quite girlish (purple). Is the color fine for matching my blue galaxy s3? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_EL9A4Tz4o
Last but not least, is the case thin enough so it won't make the phone bulky? I had a galaxy nexus + sgp neo hybrid and it was great. The only problem was that the sillicone material expanded after a month and it was quite annoying, but it was very thin.
I wish that you can answer all my questions.
Thankyou for your time and nice review

I know!
I got compliments on it all day.
The material is TPU, so it doesn't feel "cushiony" like a silicone case would. However, it would survive a 4-5 foot drop. Hell, probably several. And its a hard lip. TOU cases are better in every way than silicone BTW.

Yup, no lint! The TPU, which is the blue part, doesn't attract lint like silicone does. Literally perfect.

Yeah, that's the one I was gonna buy, but when I asked the seller if it was authentic TWICE, he never responded. Return it asap and get the official one. The screen protector is very high quality as well.

Original one in e-bay?
Hello guys,
Nice case! Anyone has a tip about a serious seller on e-bay to where I can buy from? I don't want a fake one.
Thank you.
@dkreventon
The buttons are sensitive, if you mean you don't have to jam your finger in to actually press it. I haven't had any issues with the phone waking up or anything similar.
Don't buy an SGP case from eBay, as they made a new batch that fixed the sensitive buttons issue from before, and you run the risk of getting a fake. That seller never replied to my question if the item is authentic, so I assume its not and would stay away.
Definitely won't get dirty. The TPU is dark blue so you can just wipe any smudge or mark away. Same with the white bumper part, as its polycarbonate. The microfiber cloth was pretty decent at wiping the screen, better than alot I've received but nothing special.
You won't have to worry about the camera lens, its safely inside the protection of the case. And I don't know what's wrong with the oversaturation of the colors in that guy's video, but the color perfectly matches the blue of the blue S3.
And yes, this case is a thin case, doesn't add much bulk to the phone, and is very light, so it doesn't add any weight either. This is TPU, so you won't have any problem with sagging and whatnot.
@Bruno Rodrigues
I recommend staying away from eBay for this product, as there are too many fakes, and usually you won't know the difference unless you have a real and a fake. I recommend Amazon if you want to go through an online retailer, but my personal preference would be to go to the actual SGP website.
Hope this helps you guys out, keep the questions coming!

I got mine from ebay. The seller was spgstore1. And yes, it is authentic. I paid $26 for mine. Fit great, the buttons are a little sensitive but you can take a blade and cut some of the buttons to how you want them to feel on press. It's on another thread in here.

just got the same case today guys. the material and the look is very nice. I have a problem with the power button though, it feels like im just pressing hard tpu. i actually bought two cases one neo hybrid and other neo hybrid lumi . The lumi feels alright but the regular hybrid power button is not good . I bought it straight from SGP so i thought it was the revised one but ill have to wait for a email reply. Other then that, this is the best looking case hands down. BTW: anyone whos thinking about this case and the UAG case, i love the UAG look and feel. UAG definitely protects more but isnt as refined looking. But the cutouts are PERFECT and all the buttons feel amazing!

There's a thread in the accessories thread that someone posted. All you have to do is shave some of the inner button to your liking. The person said it works. I am going to try it out and let you know.

Can I have a link to sgpstore1 on ebay?
The case is currently out of stock on SGP Website and I can't find that username on ebay or google.
If I buy from ebay from sgp's store, do I have the option to ask for another one if it has issues with buttons, like I could be able to do with SGP website?
So what is the real verdict? Is the sensitive buttons problem already fixed or not?
I think I'm going to buy this case from amazon.it, hope I won't have any issue with the volume and power buttons.

Opinions on a case with kickstand

Hey folks. Frequent XDA forumer here and new owner of a SGS3.
Unfortunately, my story begins with tragedy. I got my SGS3 just a few days ago, and last night it slipped from my pocket while I was sitting in a chair and fell 2 feet onto concrete. BAM, hairline crack along the entire length of the front glass. I have to say, I'm not too pleased (my Epic 4G took worse tumbles than that without a case) and I'm ordering new glass from eBay to replace myself because the $178.61 Samsung quoted me, and the $150 deductable I'd have to pay Asurion are both complete rip-offs just to swap the front glass. I'd also just like to go on record and point out that Samsung really dropped the ball not rubberizing the back of the SGS3; the phone is beautiful but like a wet fish to handle. I suspect it wouldn't have slipped out of my pocket had it been rubberized like my Epic.
So, anyhow, enough of my bellyaching. Once I finish replacing the front glass, I need to get this thing some protection. I've looked around on eBay and seen a lot of candidates (both brands I recognize like Otterbox and UAG and otherwise) but I'd really like to hear from you guys what you think.
Here's what I'm looking for:
As thin as possible
Rubberized back or TPU shell
Has a kickstand
No extended battery
Let me know your recommendations!
EDIT - I've now been through all ~75 pages of the "Post a picture of your case along with your S3" thread and, coupled with the suggestions from this thread, I've got this running list going of options:
Qmadix Holster Shell Combo (Metalix product line)
SEIDIO ACTIVE with Kickstand
Case-Mate Pop! with Stand
Cruzerlite Spi-Force
Trident Kraken
Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (A lot of alternative styles with kickstand here)
GreatShield Snap Stand
Tomaxx Silikon TPU

Awesome, that's essentially what I'm looking for; some minimal protection that's rubberized and sporting a prop. My only complaint about those Qmadix Metalix models is that visually I'm not really digging the style. They're a little too flashy; I was hoping to see something just all black. But who knows, maybe I'd get used to it. I was glad to hear that the kickstand is very durable, as a lot of the no-name brands I see on eBay have props that look very flimsy.
Would love to see any other suggestions, and thanks again!
I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Holster...qid=1352610675&sr=8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+case
The case its self feels nice but it doesn't protect enough. My screen still broke :crying: with it because it only covers the sides and not the top and bottom. The kickstand is utter **** and falls over when you breathe because the kickstand barely sticks out.
tl;dr: it blows

Perfect. I didn't see anything like that on the Qmadix website so I didn't bother to look any further. Gotta love eBay!
EDIT - Ah, I see it now, it's listed separately due to being a holster/shell combo.
http://www.qmadix.com/snap-on/holster-shell-combo-samsung-galaxy-siii.asp
EDIT 2 - Though the prop looks a bit flimsier on this Case Mate model, it does look like it protects a bit better due to having an edge that comes around the edge of the phone, which does add a bit of bulk. Anyone have this case?

This is what I am using:
http://www.amazon.de/tomaxx-Halteru...r_1_39?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1352640008&sr=1-39
Cheap, but at least it offers some kind of screen protection, since it envelops all sides of the phone. In my opinion a case that leaves top and bottom unprotected is just useless since those are the areas your phone will most likely hit when it drops.
And it protects the screen when you put it on a table with the screen facing down.
The case has soft sides but most of the back and three of the sides are hard plastic. Only the bottom left corner is the same "soft" material like the sides are. Buttons on the sides are encased too, so no lint or water will enter there. Still they are working pretty well, need a little more pressure though. At least your phone won't activate accidentally in your pocket as easily as it does without the case.
The soft material is some kind of hard silicone or maybe that's what they call TPA(haven't yet figured out what that is). It has a rubbery touch and makes the otherwise slippery S3 a lot saver to hold but it's not so much that you'll have problems slipping it in your pant pockets.
The kickstand only allows for landscape mode and looks rather flimsy but it's not. It stays in place when closed and has no problem holding the S3 when in use.
Trident Kraken. You can throw your phone like a football across concrete and It wouldn't damage your phone. Plus its has a kickstand and different color choices.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=trident+kraken+S3
I'm probably going to order one of these to try out. Inexpensive as can be and gets good reviews.

I've been looking at that one, though it's a little chunky and kind of on the "busy" side. In terms of protection, it does look to be one of the best sporting a kickstand.
EDIT - Updated my original post with some options for those interested
There are tons of great cases, but for the best deal, look on Amazon and search for hybrid case for galaxy s3. There is a case that looks like an otterbox, and it is tough and has a stand. Great deal too, I got mine for $3 including shipping.

You're probably talking about the Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (I've seen them branded either way). It's in the list I've added to my OP

http://www.case-ology.com/shop-by-d...ices=251&limit=all&manufacturer=8&price=10-20
you can get them on ebay too watch for fakes
I have involuntarily TESTED these cases (SII and SIII) and they are truly protective. never a scratch on the phone whether I crunched it in the hatch of the minivan (ouch) or tossed it 15ft into the street when some wasps decided to teach me the error of my ways as I tried to photograph them
I avoided the stingers and learned my lesson. get a zoom lens hehe
I have the orange and blue one. $12.95 shipped. you can't beat it. they have TWO STYLES for the S3 so watch it. one has a oval around the camera one has an oval with a little "cut out" (you will see what I mean) because if you don't see the exact color combo you want you can buy 2 and mix and match parts I had to do that to get the same blue orange with my S2. so make sure the two you order if you do this are the same style.
you want the "heavy duty hard" cases with the 6 little "curves" on the back like this

its the only case I will use on a day to day basis because I DO NOT have $400 to replace this phone!!
I have one well over 18 months old. NO DEGRADATION AT ALL. the silicon has not gotten loose or sloppy. here is my S2 with the case that's been on it for over 1.5 years.
sadly the blue for the S3 is much much darker. (I prefer lighter brighter colors) so once I have more cash going to order a couple other blue ones and hope one of them is a "lighter" blue. (the S3 case is WAY darker than the picture shows a dark NAVY)

I read your post in the other thread with interest. As I understand it, you combined 2 different cases together (Blue and White and Orange and White) to make your Blue and Orange combo. Unique!
There does seem to be quite a few imitations of this particular style. The Fosmon and GreatShield models mentioned above appear to be virtually the same except for the branding. Either way, all reports of these models appear to be pretty favorable!
Cruzerlite spi (style) is the one you want. I have bought many of them (iPhone, galaxy s2, galaxy s3) and am satisfied with all of them. Grippy, slim, and kickstand works great.
You can get them cheaper on eBay

Excellent choice here ^^
I have purchased a ton of cases, this one is one of my favorites.
I ended up going with the Otterbox Defender when on the job,
and the Seidio Surface case when off work.
If I had to have the same case on all the time, and had to pick only one... it would be one of the Fosmon you link to.

Those who know me from the One X forums here know that I have a bit of a problem when it comes to purchasing cases- I can’t stop. I held a bunch of giveaways for the cases I didn’t use, and I still have about 20 of them sitting in a box. My problem was that I just couldn’t find the perfect case. I loved a lot of them, but I wouldn’t call any of them “perfect”. The same thing happened to me when I switched to the iPhone 5. My problem was compounded by the fact that there are just so many iPhone cases to choose from and I just had to have them all. I had purchased roughly 30 different cases before I came across the Urban Armor Gear case and it was quite literally the last case I ever bought. Well, maybe not literally because after purchasing my black UAG case I had to have one in white and moss as well. Not only that, I bought one for each of the guys that I work with and it became the official unofficial case of our company. I generally prefer my phones naked, but in the case of the iPhone, it felt incomplete without the UAG case on it. Once I put my UAG case on the iPhone, I NEVER took it off. Fast forward to present time and much to my excitement, Urban Armor Gear has a case for the HTC One and I must say- it’s every bit as good as the iPhone version and then some.
The UAG is a composite case with a hard outer shell fused to an impact resistant soft core, and has an awesome body armor pattern to it that makes it look and feel like a military device. There is also a faux bolt pattern that further adds to its rugged looks. The corners have added bumpers for extra protection. The designers of this case definitely deserve some props. While that look may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is EXACTLY what I am looking for in a case. It's badass.
Holding it in your hand, you can just feel the quality of this thing, it is the most well designed case I have ever come across, for ANY phone. As far as protection is concerned, I would group it with other composite cases like the OtterBox Commuter, Incipio DualPro (which I own for the One), and CaseMate Tough. Unlike those cases which are all two pieces, the UAG is a single piece allowing it to be much slimmer and less bulky than any of the others, without sacrificing durability or protection at all. In fact, I actually feel more comfortable with my phone in the UAG case than any of the others. I work a rough job and the potential to damage my phone lurks around every corner. I have zero concerns about the safety of my phone when it is protected with the UAG case.
A major problem that I have come across with cases for the One so far is the way that the power button/IR flasher is handled. Some cases block it completely, others have a complete cutout leaving the button fully exposed and making it uncomfortable to press. Neither is acceptable to me. The UAG case has no such problem. The design team really put their heads together with this one, and came out with an incredibly simple, yet ingenious design- they gave the case a raised power button for easy use, but cut a hole in it so the IR signal can still get through. Whoulda thunk it?? There is literally no decreased IR functionality and the power button is easier to press than without the case. Again, it’s brilliant.
There really isn’t much else to say about it, it’s hands down my favorite case ever (which says an AWFUL lot) and since it became available so soon after the phone’s launch it will probably save me a great deal of money and headaches because I’m not even searching for another case now. Crazy, right? There is not a single thing I would change about this case. It is currently available in 4 color varieties- Navigator (white), Scout (black), Outland (rust), and Aero (slate). I currently have the Navigator and have a Scout on its way.
The UAG strikes the perfect balance between design, comfort, functionality, and protection. It earns a PERFECT 10/10 stars and a wholehearted recommendation from your friendly neighborhood MetalHead. \m/

Here ya go. The last one shows how they handled the power button/IR flasher.

I had a UAG Aero case for my GS3 and absolutely loved it. Glad to see they're starting to ship for the HTC One. I will be ordering on as soon as they show up on Amazon. Can't say enough good things about this case. Love the finish and the way the buttons are easier to press.
Great review! I actually dig the look of the case it compliments the phone very well! It reminds me of a crazy PC case in some way.

This is literally the only case I've ever bought that I have ZERO bad things to say about. If you loved it for the GS3 you'll definitely love it for the One.

I used the seidio active holster with it when I used my iPhone 5 and it was an exact fit, as if the holster was designed for the UAG case. I'm wondering if it'll be the same with the One. I just might take one for the team and give it a shot.

Any coupons or discounts available on this? Definitely looks like a great case, but $35 is a bit rich.

Not sure. Usually Amazon has them cheaper but they aren't available yet, only from UAG's website. Give it time.
Hey MetalHead ..I see you from Illinois. I'm from Chicago..then moved up to Wisconsin to get away from all those crazy gangs...but anyways, how long did it take you to receive the case after you ordered it? I'm thinking about ordering the case.
I have one of these for my Note 2 a awesome case! I just ordered the Aero in Blue I hope it doesn't take to long lol. I to am a case Wh*** as weel MetalHead but UAG has really impressed me with their quality I am using otterbox commuter right now which is not bad but UAG are just so nice !

Hey, I'm stuck between the Commuter and the UAG. Do yu think yu could do a comparison review when yu get the UAG? Really help me out!
Hi,
Nice sounding review, makes me want one Can I ask one thing though, is it possible that you take a picture of the One lying naked on a flat surface with the case lying next to it? To give us an accurate guage of the thickness of the case and how much it would add to the phone. Coming from a 4 inch incredible S, I don't want something thats too bulky
Thanks
I had one of these cases for my S3 and the only thing i didn't like was the edges were kinda sharp which made the case kinda uncomfortable to hold in one hand. Does this one have those same rough edges?

Nexus 5 cases; which is tougher yet usable?

Hi guys (and gals),
So, I've placed an order for my nexus 5 and am now looking at cases for it. Now, I really like a good strong case. For example, on my xperia play, I had the trident aegis (I wanted kraken but hey ho) and on my nexus 4 I have the armourdillo (I can barely use it though).
Now, I really liked those cases, but on those phones it was easier to cope with the phone being larger with a fat case on it.
The nexus 5 however, will be the biggest phone I've owned and as such, getting the biggest, bombproof case going is just not an option (small hands ). So my question is this; what's the best case I can get which won't add too much bulk to the point of it being unusable?
I have currently been looking at the spigen cases (slim armour mainly, but I've read that the neo hybrid is apparently better?? ) but would like all your thoughts in this matter. Lots of info is great and budget isn't an issue (if the benefits justify the cost).
Thanks for all your help, in advance
P.S. As for screen protectors, I settled on the rhino shield. They looked to be the best as far as impacts were concerned (yes, I'm scared of drops).

I have the neo hybrid and slim armor and I like using the slim armor more. Better protection and better feel. I got the champagne for slim and silver for neo and I like the look of the slim a lot more. Also the ballistic case seems to be really good had one on my gs3 and it worked great.

I got the SG maxx ballistic and its pretty solid...minus the screen protector... But its easy to just order the screen protector you want and the case doesn't mess with it. Its a very good case and the holster is also very solid.

I bought the Acase Google Nexus 5 Case Slim Superleggera PRO Dual Layer from Amazon and really like it. It's a good balance between bulk and protection. The case is very well made with everything lining up perfectly. Price is very reasonable too. My only criticism of this case is that it might be a little slippery.
I just ordered the Ballistic SG Maxx. They are bulky cases, but great quality. Only plan on using it at work so not really concerned about the extra bulk.
Thanks all for the replies. Please keep throwing information at me.
As far as the ballistic is concerned, it looks to me like that case is roughly the same size as the armourdillos and just a bit too big for my hands unfortunately! But by far, it looks to be the strongest case.
Out of the spigen slim armour and the superleggara, (or any other cases of this size), which would you say is stronger?
What would be really useful is if there was an actual drop test done on these cases, not using an actual nexus 5 but something with the same weight & size where they could measure the actual impact on the phone to see how good the case is.
I may just bite the size bullet and get the ballistic, but I'd like to try and see if there is something smaller which could protect my phone just enough to get away with it.

I have the ballistic SG maxx case and I love it.
If you are looking for something slimmer with added corner protection you might like the ballistic jewel.

Theres also the ballistic Aspira, simillar to the speck candyshell, but with bigger corners for better drop protection.
Also, it seems speck is going to release a Candyshell soon, which seems quite protective.
I am ordering the Tudia Wav Hybrid. The video sold me. Check out the drop test:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZyLInX4EsM
PLUS IT IS $9.99 72% off the regular price over at amazon!!!
Ballistic SG Maxx; Great case. It fits the toughness bill. But the usable-ness for people with smaller hands suffers from it's size so unfortunately, this won't suit.
Ballistic Jewel; That thing looks fragile as hell. I could be wrong but it looks really really weak.
Ballistic Aspira; Not bad at all actually. It looks like it could take a drop or two maybe.
Tudia Wav; Wow. That's not a bad case at all. I like the grooves idea on the back of the case. That drop test reminds me of when I got the trident aegis for my xperia play and almost turned it into a basketball. How I wish Trident would make a cyclops case for this phone...
[Case] Generic Ultra Thin Matte Faux Carbon Fiber TPU Case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586051; this case actually looks pretty strong and decent. The guy who bought it had only nice things to say about it.
Spigen Slim Armor; One recommendation on this but not much else. I still kind of really think this case is pretty cool but maybe because of the big thing about "shock protection" and "elite protection" plastered all over the description on spigen's website. It does take the award of nicest looking case though.
As far as I can see, the above are the cases which fit toughness yet usable enough. I probably missed a few off like the Ringkes and cruzerlites but nobody has mentioned them so far. Really, out of all of these, I have no idea what to pick! Wouldn't it be great if there was a standard measure of how tough a case was so that you could easily make a comparison?

The ballistic jewel is flexible tpu, so not fragile at all. I understand the mistake, though, as it looked like hard plastic to me before I got my hands on it.
The Tudia Wave is pure garbage. I suppose it protects as well as any other tpu case, but it feels cheap, the buttons are unresponsive, and there are rough ridges left over from the injection molding process.

Haha my bad!
Its down to a choice of the jewel, aspira or spigen slim armor for me really. They all look like great cases with great reviews. Would I be right in saying those 3 cases are pretty evenly matched in toughness terms and its a choice of taste and feel rather than strength or have I got that pretty wrong?
Thanks for all your help by the way people. I really appreciate it, especially on a topic I know nothing about so I ask many stupid questions or make stupid assumptions.

Might want to take a gander at the Seidio cases while you're on the hunt.

Im using this case - loving it so far. Only issue is the buttons are not as tactile as they i'd like. I use s2w so not a huge concern for me.
more questions
Hello, I don't mean to steal the thread or anything, so please tell me if I should go away. I am, however, looking for advice on a case for my phone and I thought maybe posting on here would work since the OP seems to have found a case he is happy with (glad to see you found a case to make you happy!) and i am interested in some of the cases that were mentioned, so here goes.
I too am looking for a case for my Nexus 5, I take extremely good care of my phones (I love my electronics, I keep all of my electronics in great shape, I still have my original Galaxy S in perfect condition!) I do like to have a case on my phones to ensure that I won't screw anything up, since I take really good care of my stuff I'm not looking for anything terribly tough, just something to protect from scuff marks, keep the screen off the table and camera lens safe.
I noticed that the OP went with the Tudia Wav, this is a case I've been looking at for some time as well. My only concerns with it are: 1) how tactile are the power and volume keys? The TPU case I had on my SII wasn't very tactile and I hated it. 2) will it work with wireless charging? I remember reading that it would, but double checking never hurts.
I am also considering the caseology slim fit http://www.amazon.com/Caseology-Fin...35&sr=1-1&keywords=nexus+5+caseology+slim+fit I think that this case will be my go to if I can't get feedback on other cases.
Finally, I saw the acase superlegera on amazon and I am somewhat interested in that one given that it is compatible with wireless charging and that the buttons are fairly tactile. Can someone comment on this case?
Sorry for the lengthy post, I'm a verbose guy. Anyways, thanks a ton for the feedback, hope to hear from you guys soon.

Hey and no problem; thread steal all you like! And I haven't found a case yet but I am down to 3 options which I like, yet can't decide between (ballistic jewel, ballistic aspira, spigen slim armor).
As far as the Tudia is concerned, I've been told above that its not made to a very high standard and all so I'm avoiding that.
Wireless charging; AFAIK (and I could really be wrong with this) if the case isn't too bulky, wireless charging will work fine. Such as with the cruzerlites, spigens and even the armourdillos. So you should be fine with the cases you're looking at.
My advice; If you're in the US, have a look at the ballistic jewel. I know you said you didn't need anything too tough but better safe than sorry, seeing as this case has very little bulk anyway. This would be my case of choice if I could get it in the UK easily enough but because of delivery times not suiting the arrival of my N5 (paranoid), I'm settling on a slim armor for now and going to then start my month wait for the jewel.
Unless of course, somebody mentions an absolutely super awesome case that makes me forget both of these cases altogether.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Which cases did you all end up with? I'm very paranoid, so I want a protective case, BUT I really want the least bulky one, and one that keeps the shape of the phone. I realize I can't have it all, I just want to get as close as possible.
I hope you're happy with whatever cases you got!
Tech21 impact frame
Just got the Seidio Convert Case combo, 45$ on ebay, getting my nexus 5 by tuesday hopefully but from the way the case looks it looks protective and amazing
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I hate the fact that I need to use a case in order to protect my phone but I went for a slim case on my SGS and ended up with a broken screen for a year and a half so I can't use the phone without good protection. On the other hand, I hate to add to much bulk to it so I looked for days for the best case that would fit both needs and ended up with the Tech 21 Impact Frame. Was lucky enough to find an AWESOME person that would send one to me since it's only available in the US and I love it.
The phone has been dropped twice with it (curiously, none of them were my fault) and not a single scratch... the case is slim given the protection it provides and I love the looks too. The clear back shows the back of my white Nexus 5 (hated that I had bought the white version and couldn't see it due to a Neo Hybrid) but that's the only thing that I don't like about it. The plastic on the back scratches too easily. I only have it for 2 weeks and there are spider webs everywhere. But, given all the other positive points, I'll keep it and it's my favourite case for the N5.
There are a couple of videos on YouTube showing it. One from an XDA user that did awesome drop tests with the case on.
