[Q] Root does not change anything - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi
I have rooted my p6 via eroot method. It seems to be rooted. I can install cwm touch, I can flash something, superuser works, but I can't rename the files in system, can't copy any files to system folder.
I used Es file explorer and root browser with granting root permissions. Both didn't work.
Any idea, solution? Thanks.

Hi,
Use another file Explorer like root Explorer...
Es file Explorer are my Favorit Explorer but i have the same problem at my p6.
If i aktivate the root Option it will not be fix this.
With an other root Explorer it works perfectly.

Because you also have to make the folders R/W (Read/Write)

With es file Explorer it doesent work. With every other root Explorer it works without any changes in file system settings.

ES manager not mounting and reading system files

hello
i rooted and installed ARHD for my galaxy nexus and it came with ES manager.
its a nice free file explorer and it can show system files and such, i granted it super permissions but i still cant delete that one file that lets me boot into CWM from the fastboot menu, so i have to flash CWM using my computer terminal everytime i want to use it.
any other free apps that can do the same thing ?

ES works fine for me... what file are you trying to delete?
And have you mounted system as read/write in ES Settings?
Hi,
I'm also using ES File Explorer with Android 4.0 SDK on emulator. I need to read the event0 file in /dev/input. When I try to open it with ES Note Editor, I get this error: Failed to open the file (java.io.IOException at com.estrongs.android.pop.app.h.run(Unknown source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:856)). The emulator is rooted, i also tried to enable Root Explorer in ES settings, it failed because this functionality is not supported for my phone? Also the mount file system option in ES settings is disabled.
Can anyone help me? Is the 4.0 platform the problem, should I use an older one? Or is something different the problem?
Thanks.

[Q] Disabling OTA updates

Did my research and found to rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak or to install fotakill.apk in system/app folder. I am rooted using ES File explorer with root access and is not allowing of either of these...

For anyone that comes across this. ES File Explorer, Tools, Root Explorer, Mount R/W and select directory to give read/write access.
Although I renamed it, the update still shows after reboot..

I was able to rename same file on rooted Samsung device and saw that this effectively disabled OTA Update messages on device. However, I have a question: Are there any Phone Manufacturers that may force an OTA on device and if so, will this method still work to avoid the undesired OTA update? Thanks in advance.

Also rename sdm1.0 in /system/app and delete the ota file located in /cache/fota directory.

ES File eplorer root access

I'm running on a rooted Z1C.
I already changed the settings so I can write on my sdcard.
I'm using ES File explorer,
in settings click on root and
mount everything I can see as R/W (/, /system, /mnt/idd, lta-label)
but I still can't write anything to /system or /system/etc.
I always get permission denied when copying a file.
I was able to do it with root explorer so now I'm still wondering why ES File explorer 3.1.6 can't do it.
How to solve this for ES File explorer?
I like to use only one file manager for those tasks.

Have you installed this app? I use ES File Explorer 3.1.6 on KitKat and I can copy or rename files to external SD.
Make sure you granted root access in your superSU or superuser app to es file explorer. It is working for me.

I already installed SDFIX.
SInce supersu 1.99r4 craches sometimes I decided to go back to SuperSU1.94.
But now I always get a message in ES File explorer when I try to set Root; your device does not support this.
When I try once again with Root explorer everything works fine.
So what's going on, do I need anolder version of ES File explorer, is there something wrong with version 3.1.6
If I open up suersu I can see ES File explorer in the list, do I need to specify a specific user for it?

I'm using 3.1.6 aswell. And no, you just need to grant it root access.

[Q] Why can't I copy to 'notifications' folder?

I am running Paranoid Android 4.5 beta. I am trying to copy a sound file to /system/media/audio/notifications but it fails. I have root and I made sure it is mounted as R/W in root explorer but I can't do it. I can copy a file to my 'ringtones' folder. Any thoughts?
I just think its the way KK handles things...try different apps
I tried es file explorer and the terminal emulator and the error is it's a read only file system even though Root explorer says it is read write. Does anyone know how to change it?

ES File Explorer no root

Hey Guys,
I have rooted my OnePlus 3 and now I want to modify some system files with ES file explorer pro, but everytime I get the message " root not available" . I have granted access in supersu app. Root works with other apps.
Any solution?
This is an issue with ES File Explorer on Recent releases of SuperSU. Chainfire has mentioned it a lot times that ES devs need to fix it and he won't modify his supersu to make it work. So, ask ES Devs. You can see Chainfire 's Google+ SuperSU Changelog to know more about this.
Best Regards,
Naman.
Thanks bro!

Maybe try a previous version of SU.
I am using SU v2.74 Systemless with ES File Explorer Pro v1.0.7(Market) without any problems.

I have the SU v2.78 with ES File Explorer Pro v1.0.7(Market) and still get problems. The crapy thing is, the ES File Explorer free version (non-pro) works with root -.-
Since most probably you use the root explorer feature only on very rare occasions, it's not really a problem.
Simply use another root explorer if you want to access system files, period. Why bother.
Ive found the error

you have to extract the su file (arm64) from the latest supersu zip and place at in /system/bin folder
After this, ES FILE EXPLORER PRO is working perfect
There is an other solution as well.
Es file Explorer doesn't work with systemless root. I don't need systemless root so I have edited system partitions to make it work. There is no need to extract su binary. Empty files are enough:
In terminal emulator write:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
touch /sbin/su /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
mount -o remount,ro /system
I used to use an older version of ES File Explorer. I believe it was v4.0.2.3, it was around the time the company was sold and immediately before the total corruption of the free product. It also lacked support for systemless root.
The latest release of ES File Explorer was v4.1.3 on August 29, 2016. It has support for systemless root. The last release of ES File Explorer PRO was v1.07 on June 14, 2016. I haven't used it, but it sounds like systemless root support is still lacking. In the interim, I recommend using the free version or (far preferably) switching to an alternate manager like MiXplorer until the situation at ES APP Group is resolved.
