[Q] Tried to install lightOrange ROM and gio gets stuck at loading screen. - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hey guys!
Sorry if this matter has already been approaced, but... i wouldn't know what keywords to search for.
I have a Gio, that came with gingerbread 2.3.4 and was updated to 2.3.6 via samsung update app.
Due to veeeery low internal storage i need a lighter rom so i thought of LightOrange v7. Wasn't keen on it but something had to be changed.
My device wasn't rooted, so i made no backups of any apps or the rom that was already on it, nor did i have any rom managers installed.
I went into cfw (i understand it's called - power button + home key) and from there i selected update from sd card. The new rom installed with the pretty interface, and when it was done it told me to reboot.
At startup, the first startup screen appeeared (the one where "samsung" is the only word) and then went to the second screen (where it says ~samsung galaxy gio S5660) and it got stuck there.
I entered the cfw again, and did a factory reset, clear cache, reinstall and so on, but all i get is the phone getting stuck at that second startup screen.
So... what is there to do?
Will another rom placed on the sd card -> installing from cfw do the trick? or is my path to repairing the device longer?

Hey
I'm not sure if installing a new rom over the old one will help, you can always try I guess
But you can also just start for scratch and just get your phone back to stock rom using this guide: THIS
And if I'm understanding you correctly you didnt install any recovery to backup and install the custom rom? Because I think you're going to need CWM as recovery.
Hope it helped

Solved.
Installed clockworkmod from sd card, using the default "update from sd card'".
And from there installing a rom was as simple as it should be
It would have been usefull if someone had given me this solution as a reply to my thread...

[Q] My Phone Explorer Question

I lov using my phone explorer app, Everything works great except I used to be able to control my phone using my PC keyboard n mouse in the phone view.

Bootloop solved
I read this thread trying to figure out why my phone (marvelc A510c virgin mobile) went into bootoop after trying to installing simonsense3.5 rom, and thought I'd share my success story. This is actually my first post. I want to hopefully save someone like me HOURS of heartache over a stupid solution.
Background (roughly):
Unlocked bootloader via htcdev, worked great.
Used Simonsimon34's htc utility and it worked okay. I still had to use the htc supertool to get root.
Got cwm 5.0.2.8 installed and made a backup rom
Downloaded simonsense3.5 rom and attempted to flash it, but phone hanged in recovery. After that, I was stuck in a bootloop. Could still get into recovery, but cwm would hang ALL the time doing things like wiping and I couldn't get it passed "Opening Update Package" when flashing new roms. I read forum after forum, reformatted my sd, wiped partitions, got a second sd, tried 3 or 4 roms people swore would work, did it all over again. Nothing! I found a thread that said to back cwm down to 5.0.2.6, but that didn't work. This went on for two days and I was getting desperate.
SOLUTION:
I finally found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229) that posted cwm 4.0.xx (the "previous version" link) and at my wits end flashed that, and wouldn't you know it, success! CWM was the problem the whole freaking time! I used the cwm partition creator to make a fresh 1024b partition on a fresh sd, wiped everything, put the rom on, and installed simonsense3.5 on the first damn try. The rom works okay, but I'm having some bugs... but that is another forum.
Good luck!

[Q] How can i reset my HTC Desire?

Hello everyone,
first of all, im kind of new to rooting phones and stuff, what surely brought me to that problem i have.
I have an old HTC desire where i wanted to install a custom rom.
So i searched for a tutorial, i rooted the phone using unrevoked 3.21, worked fine. Then i wanted to install the custom rom, installed a backup tool first (something like "ClockwordMod Recovery") and made a backup on the sd card.
Then i wanted to install the custom ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113
Worked mostly fine, but when i wanted to start my phone i got stuck in the startup screen forever.
I searched for this issue and found some tips about clearing caches and clearing the sdcard, what i did - so here is the problem. The sdcard wipe propably killed my backup file and now i am pretty screwed, i still get stuck in the loading screen of the ROM, so i dont have access of the phone, and backup tool has no file to recover from.
So what to do now? I want to reset the phone to the rooted status and try to install the ROM again, but as i said i cant access to anything. Any suggestions?
Thanks
EDIT:
Allright, i have no idea why, but suddenly the phone starts up with the new OS. So this thread can be closed / deleted. Sorry for that
Checked bortak's troubleshooting guide??

Sounds like you're sorted, can happen sometimes if it was your first CWM (nandroid) backup

Custom rom + A2SD -> SD card malfunction -> Unable to boot/recovery

Hello. I need your advise!
Situation:
Some time ago, i was using leedroid 3.x and it was very satisfactory
However, at one day, it said like "No SD card detected" at notification bar,
and I rebooted, it just looped Leedroid booting screen
Went to recovery, reflashed, factory reset, delete data all, new SD, no SD, did everything i can, however whatever rom i put in there it just looped booting screen
I went to HTC service center they somehow they fixed my phone although they knew i rooted mine.
Question:
1. Is this a well known problem? I just went to service center and living in fear because of my ignorance? I searched some articles about brick however couldn't find matching cases with me.
2. If not, I suspect that the custom rom "moved" some vital system files on SD, therefore any rom couldn't boot. How realistic my suspicion?
3. Most importantly, how can i prevent this? my phone was practically bricked and it was a pure luck i could get service.. and this time i flash a custom rom, i dont want to live in fear..
That's all. Thanks in advance !!

[Q] Bootloop with no Recovery/Download mode

Hi everybody,
I'm relatively new to ROMs and I think I've made a mistake. I rooted my phone with CASUAL (because I'm a noob like that), and after about of week of playing around with my new features I decided to try and get a new ROM, CyanogenMod 10.1. I followed a video guide on youtube called "How to install CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on the Samsung Galaxy S III/3" (can't post links) and used GooManager to flash the ROM over. The phone rebooted and it took me to a teamwin loading screen followed by a menu with 8 options. I thought it was weird, as it wasn't in the video, but one of the options was "install" so I clicked that, it showed the .zip for the ROM so I hit "flash". It rebooted again now and now continuously displays the spinning loading screen for CyanogenMod. I remember reading something something about CM 10 not working with ICS bootloaders, but all of the guides I read about flashing CM made no mention of it, so I didn't think much of it. Is this my problem?
I made a ROM backup with CWM Recovery, app and data backups with Titanium root, and even backed up my EFS folder, so I'm not worried about any data loss involved in a factory wipe or reset, but I need help getting there. I've read things about a USB jig, is this what I need to do? If so, , do I just need to make/buy and plug in the jig? What do I do afterwards?
Any and all help will be appreciated

If it does anything it isn't a hard brick. Never use rom manager or goo manager to flash something. That is a sure fire way to kill your phone.
If it was an out of date boot loader it wouldn't have flashed.
By the sounds of if your bootloop is from not wiping.

Everything you need to know is there. Pay close attention to step 5a it's proper wiping for twrp. Re wipe, re flash and you'll be fine. Don't forget to flash the gappps. Those videos are good and bad. Especially if you have no idea what you're doing it's a real fast way to a brick.

[Q] Need help with my phone

Hello everyone!
Today I had the weirdest issues that ever happened to me. I updated a cm theme I have through the play store. My phone started acting weird so I decided to reboot it. Right after the reboot it got stucked in the boot logo, then I decided to recover with TWRP to the last backup I have to fix my issue. I tried three different backups and they failed to install. That's when I decided to start from zero and flash a clean carbon rom copy/gapps, etc (BTW I wiped the memory). Now when I start my phone I get a play store error and it seems that from the file manager my phone is not recognizing the internal memory and the SD card, but from TWRP Recovery (the one from UP+HOME+POWER) it does. I already tried flashing CM11 and Carbon with no luck. Also, when I flashed the clean copy I had the boot logo from the previous Rom. So to my understanding it flashed the clean rom but some elements from the "old" one I had still running.
If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced!
UPDATE:
So I did a complete wipe of the internal memory and it worked perfectly.
What I think is that updating a theme while is active can mess up somehow your phone. Next time I will change my theme to the default one, update, then apply the updated one.
