I heard the accuracy is slightly off for the 2014 ed.
I have the spen with eraser and I can confirm that it's slightly off centered.
I filled the tip down to have it more precision.

When you filled it down, did the accuracy improve? Is it the same as the standard built in spen?

I mean is the accuracy the same as the standard

Filling the tip down will do absolutely nothing. Don't believe me? Get yoru spen out, press it into your finger and then slide that same finger over the screen (finger nail touching the screen). The pen will still write. It's the depression and location of the pen, not the "tip"

There is another thread here where several users found that filing down the other end of the nib (not the bit that touches the screen) brought the pen closer to the screen. When the S Pen is vertical this makes no difference and all the alternative pens seem to work fine. However, when the pen is held at an angle, the slightly different length means the digitiser registers the location of the tip offset from where it really is.
It's true that it doesn't matter where the actual tip touches the screen but it does matter where the electronics in the pen are in relation to the tip.

No other thoughts. I got an S-Pen with Eraser off of Amazon for about $15. It works fine, is a much better size in the hand than the included S-pen. It is similar to a bic pen in both size and quality.

According to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484014 thread, none of the 3rd party styli really works properly. Only the genuine Note 10.1 2014 Edition seems to work without an offset.
You may not care about a 1mm difference between where the tip of the stylus is and the point where the touch registers, but it would drive me mad.

S Pen work with S3?

Does the Note's S Pen work with the Galaxy S3?
Nope, s-pen is an active digitizer. There isn't the same tech/hardware in the g3 as there is in the note
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Go on eBay and search Galaxy S3 stylist, and you can get one that works for the S3. The price range is $. 99 to $29.99. They have some almost identical to the Notes S pen, for one just like that you are looking at around $29.99

There is nothing for the S3 that will be comparable to the S-pen on the note. The C-pen is decent, but it's not going to be as precise, or responsive as the S-pen.

The c pen is definitely more accurate than the ball stylus pens due to the slim tip so you can actually see where you are writing. The only problem with the c pen is that it will occasionally not register as touching the screen.
I bought one because I take a lot of notes using S memo and I had an extra $20 bucks laying around lol. So if you can spare the cash I would reccomend it over the ball stylus pens but just know that it will only work for the s 3
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Either that or i'd just get an Adonit Jot stylus....
I just use one of the ones that have a rubber ball at the end.
C-pen didn't work out for me, because it's design a little bit fat. I guess, that's the only way to have stylus is to buy Galaxy Note Series . And also they have wacom grid, which can sense pressure.
good info

C pen is so expensive. How little are you really gonna be clicking? S3 doesn't have the special touch screen built in like the note so the pen gets bigger or smaller from how hard you press anyway. Any cheap stylus will work great. I got a laser, flashlight, chrome pen, and stylus in one for like 6 bucks at Monoprice. Works better than I dreamed.

At least now I can give a mini review. It works great as a pen and I use it whenever I have to sign something. Stylus tip still works fine and always has no problem with responsiveness. Only thing that sucks is the flashlight and laser died fast. It's all chrome and black so it still looks nice, but I have no idea how to put a new battery in. I even called and asked them, but how they said to do it was still impossible.

It isn't 'loose' by any means and it wouldnt fall out by itself. Just slides in and out easily.

The tip going in and out is how the pen can detect the level of pen pressure you place onto the screen. It's the same design as a wacom drawing tablet (which is where Samsung went and got their digitizer technology from).
Is this pen's fit will become loose if you use it too much? I am kinda afraid to use alot.

just to back this up - that's exactly what it does; its best to leave pen detection on if that's your only stylus, however if you happen to be using a full size wacom stylus, it'll only work when the pen is detached... got me confused the time i tried to use my lenovo and slate pens and they wouldnt work... because the feature was on...

S-Pen doesn't write on the right edge.

Hello,
I've bought a new galaxy note 2 for 2 months.
I discovered a strange problem that I cannot write anything at the right edge of the screen by the S-Pen and when I try to write beside the edge I find the drawn line goes to right edge although I didn't move it to right!
Anyone face this Problem before? The guarantee provider here in Egypt says that's a misuse fault.
I use the stock ROM.

does your Case have a magnet in it by chance? IF it does try without the case
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
The extreme right near the screen behaves little different to the rest of the screen. There is about half a milometer part right next to the edge that does not register pen input properly. If you keep drawing the line there vertically, it will not be drawn smoothly as it happens on left edge, it will appear on screen in steps like you are joining two dots using line tool. That is normal behaviour for Note 2. That little half a millimeter part does behave like that on all Note 2s. If this is what you are saying, then that is not really a fault. I have it on 3 different Note 2s in family.
I have the same thing, on the left side
Your digitizer or the part that detects speb motion is damaged.

You're right. I tried without the Case and the problem started to hide partially. I could write in the right edge where the magnet was preventing me. But the lines still go to right as something attracts them like magnet! The influenced area is nearly a centimeter from right.

That is quiet severe and should not be like that. If you have warranty, take the phone back to Samsung service center.
If you have any kind of case, cover remove them. Try restart and write again. 90% of such sort of problems caused by case, back cover, dominant hand settings.. I've had this many time with my note and note 2. Every time I've found some stupid reasons that was causing phone to screw spen functionality.

Do you use your stylus?

How much do you use, and for what do you use the stylus for?
I like having it, it's cool to show off. When I'm not at home I have my phone pin locked so unlocking the phone, pulling the stylus out and then activating whatever I want to use it for is to many steps.
I've tried! I've taken musician numbers, I tried to make a scrap book of stuff I wanted to go shopping for. As a whole, most of those neat things Samsung through it I have no use for. Multi-Window seems one step to much, s-pen window as well.
I thought the stylus would be great for playing retro dos games. Or even games like Shadowrun Returns, the stylus is a "mouse" and Shadowrun Returns does not support other input devices. I installed Fallout and the stylus as mouse didn't work the way I had hoped it would. Where you tap the screen and that's where you click.
To answer my question, I don't use it.
You?

Yep, I use it all the time. I use it in multi Window, s note, action memo. I use it for work taking notes, I use it for the shortcuts it gives instead of the cut and paste things. Instead I just tap drag and drop. It's so useful. Hell, I really don't even use pen and paper much anymore unless it's for signing stuff and at work I get stuff I have to sign of for sent down from a different floor, I sign it and send it back to them. No more having people run around to get things approved.
Not too often, but the stylus comes in really handy when taking screenshots and sharing them with friends.

But at release there were bigger/same size screens for less money...
The screen size made me get this phone too.
I purchased the Note 3 for the large high quality screen, the Snapdragon 800 processor, 3gb of RAM, SDcard and removable battery. I viewed the Spen as a bonus which, as it turns out, I almost never use for anything other than occasionally marking up photos.
I disagree that it's pointless to buy the N3 and not use the pen. At the time of purchase (Dec 2013), I wasn't aware of any other device that combined all of those specs into one package. At least, not that supported LTE on major carriers here in the US. The Z Ultra came close but was about the same price, and I really wanted that 3gb of RAM. Plus, after reading reviews, I was concerned that the Z ultra wasn't actually pocketable with normal clothing.
It comes in handy
I like to use it when I'm creating quick contact information or when I need to take a screenshot and edit (circle, whatever) the picture before sending it.
I use the pen more often than I thought I would. It has some really nifty features, such as pen hover gives some extra detail in some places, and action memo is fantastic. I thought I'd never use the pen when I first bought the device, but I really do like it.
