HELP! how to restore to stock with broken usb? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Help. I rooted my friends phone last year and he has now a broken usb. he took it to sprint but they said he needs to change it back to stock before they can work on it. Ive searched but only found the files for at&t note 2. thanks

You were lied to by the Sprint store. Did you go to a company store?

Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145. Make sure you are using twrp and flash like a normal ROM. If you use any other recovery then it can cause issues which will require the use of Odin (thru USB) to fix.

No, they are going to send you just the phone without the back cover, and without the S pen. At least that is what I got back with my replacement.

Trade in rooted device at tmobile store?

Can we be able to do that or do I need to un root it?

Try it and let us know what happens. ...
But seriously, if you do some more research, youll find that 99% of the folks will tell you to put it back to stock to cover yourself and also so you dont run into any issues....+ its easy to do

You can also just Odin it and it will be factory fresh and with no root
Correct me if I'm wrong

Yep, only thing to check is your flash counter. Depending on how op rooted it could be tripped. Just boot into download mode and check it. If it's tripped use triangle away app.

Well I format the phone by accident and it was just stuck on bootloader and they still took it for full trade in but I know I got screwed but oh well I still use my note 2 from sprint

But I think even if you didn't format or unroot, they well still send back to factory reset themselves and the T-Mobile reps in store aren't exactly tech savvy

I agree with above posts to put back on stock to be safe....but I did buy the nexus 4, unlocked it, rooted it, and returned it within 2 hours (speaker and screen were horrible) and returned with aokp on it. They didn't even turn the screen on to check. Nor have I had T-Mobile give me any crap for it since. It's been 2 months so I think I'm clear lol

Can you use the factory reset to un-root the phone?

Try telling them you will be traveling internationally to a specific country for several months for business or school (I like New Zealand ) and would like to use a local carrier's service with your phone while there. They might grant you an exception. If you are on contact those terms will still apply. Good luck.
Edit .. Or you can use the unlock method noted above... That worked for me

Now I'm on the hunt for a downgraded ROM...I found a stock 4.1.1 ROM but can you flash a actual stock ROM using cwm or do I have to use Odin and unroot?
Sent from my SAMSUNG SGH - I317 using xda app-developers app
You only need to flash the older modem (from same model phone), then flash back current modem. Search this forum.. You will find cwm packages for this.

No & no. All you need to do is downgrade your modem perform the unlock. Then reboot, then re-flash the latest modem back on the device!
Here's the first AT&T modem release:

I'm give you the first release. But you'll have to do some homework and find the newest modem. To flash back on your device.

Just use the unlock method posted on this forum. Worked for me.
Actually I read by law some carriers have to grant you if requested a unlock code...
It has to be least 6 months in contract nothing less.....And if they argue and so no..ask for supervisor. ..he he still does not give it to you ASK FOR A CLAIM TO CORPORATE. .I got a unlock code within 15min.....from corporate giving me mine...I was actually still on the phone with att supervisor when he filed a complaint and mailed corporate. ..I didn't answer the other line, , but I checked it and sure enough they gave it to me without any issues....tell them you travel...they need not more then that....it works belive me..I dont this to every phone in past 3 years every 6 months

Nice!! Kinda how I get things done when a rep/employee don't want to take care of things I need. And not just with AT&T I'll say. Whenever you go to Corporate your gonna get what you want..

If they're telling you that it doesn't make any sense. What if you stop using T-mobile, lose your phone, ect.? If you don't have access to a T-mobile phone with the Tmo TV app you can't cancel subscription?
They are BSing you. Be assertive and talk to their supervisor, they solve my problem and also issues a credit to me.

[Q] Gsm cloning

Hey guys so I found a GS4 a while ago and I unlocked it but when I turn it on I can't connect to T-Mobile network but it does connect to AT&T. So long story short I took it to the cellphone shot where I unlocked it and he told me that in order to make it work for T-Mobile he had to clone the GSM. Does anyone here ever heard of that and is it even possible

its because its blacklisted on tmobile, because it was reported as lost. I know what they want to do to get it to work, and it is illegal and can not be discussed on XDA.
Thanks I just wanted to know what that means. I never heard of it and I wanted to know what in the heck was that .

I think it means " return to its rightful owner! "

Don't be a ****. When you found the phone, you took it away from someone who has lost it. Return the phone to its rightful owner. Go through the contacts and find a contact for 'Mom' or something of the sort to get closer to finding the owner.
Don't worry guys I just gonna go to T-Mobile and turn it in I can't even use it anyway and I am due for a upgrade by November. I still don't know what in heck is that

What it is, is that they clone the IMEI of a good phone and use it on that one. This is highly illegal. As for deleting it. I will close it.
